So relaxing!

My husband and I visited here with two other couples and we were all able to participate in different activities throughout the day, or some participating in activities, some lounging around the pool or on the beach. The animation team was amazing! Roberto and Julio were hilarious playing volleyball and Alfredo and Yandra kept two of us moving with water aerobics. Blue Bay Villas Doradas

The hotel was fantastic, staff were more than accomadating beautiful grounds and pools were great I loved the beach and the beach bar there was lots to do with great entertainment at night all around great vacation.

Fantastic Beach!

The beach was extremely clean and the water was beautiful! There wasn't any seaweed on the shore or in the water. Since the beach is public there were many people offering you products- which can be irritating after a while. Other than that we loved it!

Great Vacation

Everything was great about this resort. But the best part was the beach, that's what I go for usually on my vacations. Staff was great, very fast room service, pleasant staff at front desk. Location of the hotel is great, it is about 30 min from airport and close to a shopping mall, where a lot of people, tourists and locals came out in the evening. Nice social place and very safe. Excellent

My husband and I just return from Blue Bay Villas Dorados and we loved the resort . Resort was small well landscaped and very clean and the people who are working there were very kind and pleasant and helpful in any situation. Food was excellent and plenty of variety in a lovely setting restaurant. My husband and I definitely will return and recommend this resort for any age group.

A Great Week at this Resort

This resort was wonderful, rite from the main desk, the staff at the buffets, the cleaning staff, entertainment staff,bar staff, the rooms were very nice and clean and the beach area was awsum. We made a room change because I had canes for walking and wanted to be central to the dining area and the beach and their was no problem with that being done and on the 3rd day, our hand held shower line started leaking, we reported it to the front desk going to breakfast and it was replaced within 45 min [... read more]utes,( NO PROBLEM ). The buffet staff were nice and quick to respond to what we wanted and the food was nothing to complain about rite from breakfast, dinner and supper, we had some fussy eaters with us and their were ( NO PROBLEM ) with the food. The cleaning staff were in our room before 10AM and that was a first for us at any other resort and the room was cleaned as our first day. Jorge and his entertainment staff were always on the move to keep you active and entertained, especially Luis which we seen every day and was very entertaining to all of us in our group. The bar staff was great and friendly with one leaving the bar to get more white wine for my wife and I did not get her name, she was at the bar by the stage next to the pool bar.The beach was clean, the water was warm and the shelters were OK but could use a little work to keep the material on the shelters.Ceasar was very entertaining and helpful in booking a trip to town for 6 of us on Friday and checked in everyday to answer any questions we mite have. We had some photos done by Everest which were excellent and he entertained us in doing the photos, lots of laughs. We had a great week, ( 6 CANADIANS ) from April 9 to the 16 and would do it again.

What a great week!

We spent 7 nights at the Blue Bay Villas Doradas (April 10-17) and it was fantastic! We started out with a little doubt on the day we arrived. We found our room and discovered it was on the ground floor although I had requested a second floor room. In the end we were actually super happy to have had the ground floor (room 3110). Our room faced the edge of the resort grounds so, although it was near the pool area, we could very rarely hear any commotion from the activities that went on over t [... read more]here. The only downside to this room location is that on the other side of the fence that surrounds the resort, was the entrance driveway for the next resort, so the buses coming and going were a little noisy. Not that big of a deal as we didn't spend much time sitting outside the room. When we arrived, the safe and fridge in our room were not working, but we let them know and they brought replacements for both right away. We found the food to be ok, nothing that blew our hair back... but we are also on a limited diet so we did find ourselves eating the same things over and over again. Perhaps if we had been able to broaden our variety, we would not have been tired of it after the week. The Presidente beer is quite good, and we got our money's worth there for sure! The pool area never seemed over crowded and there always seemed to be chairs available. Same with the beach, never too crowded. The service was amazing! The staff at this resort are top notch! We did go out on the Catamaran and we purchased the tour from a vendor on the beach. His name is Cesar and he is GREAT! The tour was super fun! Snorkeling in two spots at Sosua Bay, lunch and drinks all included! The crew on the boat were a lot of fun as well. The night time disco and beach party were a blast! There is a mall very close by that sells loads of touristy trinkets/beach wear/alcohol/etc. We made several trips there (less than 5 minute walk). Other than the resort on-site cash bar, there were no premium drinks available (that we discovered) and as I like to start my day with a coffee and baileys while on vacation, I opted to buy a bottle from the mall at a very good price and keep it in my room rather than pay for the drinks at the resort cash bar. We did get roped in to the pitch to join the resort's Circle One program, however, Kelly (the gentleman pitching the program) was understanding and polite when we cut the meeting short as we were not interested. He was not pushy at all. I've only been home for a few days and I miss it already!!! Great resort, wouldn't hesitate to go again, although we do have some other areas we want to check out before returning to resorts we have been to already.

Great times at Blue Bay

Recently returned from Blue Bay had a wonderful seven days there. The staff go above and beyond from the waiters, animation team, front desk and all the house keepers. The food is delicious and abundant. My only complaint would be with top management as they need to replace the canvas on many sun beds and provide more shaded areas on the beach. Blocks 5,6,7and 8 are quieter. We enjoyed a walk daily and the mall is a three minute walk.

Our Home away From Home

My wife and I have just returned from our absolute favourite vacation resort. We were only home for nine days between the last two visits and are looking forward to returning again soon. Everything about this place screams five star, the well manicured grounds, the clean rooms, the excellent staff, from the reception desk to the ash tray cleaner. Fantastic small resort!

Great resort small perfect for older couples to get around. The staff was amazing. Really nice beach lots of water sports to do lots of tours. We went to paradise island had so much fun. My husband lost his sunglasses in the ocean and a employee that was in charge of the water sports Felix put his goggles on and went looking for them in the ocean. He found them! The alacart restaurants were great also they had a seafood, Japanese and steakhouse. The fried chicken they had at the beach snack bar was delicious if you just wanted to get a quick bite to eat st the beach. The negative part about going to this hotel where the locals on the beach trying to sell stuff, braiding hair and even doing pedicures on the beach which I would never get because of sanitary reasons. I don’t understand how people would get pedicures done without the tools being sanitized properly. They would be very aggressive to wanting people to buy stuff from them even coming up to you when your reading and having a nap. It was very annoying and it would be the whole day different people bothering us. Another thing that annoyed us was this was a all inclusive resort but the lobby bar drinks we had to pay for them. We never saw people get drinks there so I don’t see the point of having that bar there waste of space. In general we had a great time the weather was great and I had great company to share my holiday with made more great memories that’s what life’s about😀

For my first all inclusive I thought it was done very well. The staff were excellant very accomodating and friendly. The room was clean and I had no problems with anything except the phone did not work, I reported it but nothing was done. overall it was a great holiday!

Look up I put it in the wrong section. Would very much like to go back but on the ground floor going up and down the flight of stairs was hard on the old knees. All and all it was a great vacation. Already looking forward to the next trip.

Friendly staff

First impression arriving at night was beautiful! Grounds are well kept. Extremely friendly staff. Poor room maintenance, switched twice, blood&snot on walls & mirrors, hair on floor. Peanut allergy not taken seriously at Thai fusion a la carte restaurant. Went to the restaurant earlier in the day to inform of my allergy, and was told exactly what dish to stay away from. We ordered an appetizer platter w spring rolls, calamari etc, a few bites in our server( one of the staff members we spoke to  [... read more]that afternoon) informs us that the chicken on the plate has a peanut sauce, which was almost touching the spring rolls!!!! We had to explain that it should not even be on the same plate!!! We left and spoke to the general manager of the resort the next morning. She was very sympathetic, and gave us a letter stating we will be getting 20%refund on our vacation for this issue and the room issues from air transat! The resort also gave us a couples massage and a 5 coarse romantic lobster dinner in the beach.

Fun week in the D.R.

Great week at Blue Bay Villas. The grounds are well groomed. The public areas and washrooms were clean. Lots of lounge chairs at the beach, not so much at the pool. The food at the buffet and the a la cartes was varied and plentiful. The best part was the staff, friendly, attentive, excellent service. The entertainment was lively and fun. One minor problem was the safe in my room didn't close and the promised replacement never materialized, but overall my 7 friends and I had a fun week.

Pay bar only in lobby! ..arrived there at 10 am got our room at 530 pm !!!! mini bar in room 2 beers water 2 pops free.. after that $10 a day to restock !! What part of all inclusive is that? water is free ..food was excellent room was clean .grounds were well kept ..beach water brown. had a pleasent stay never will go back

Could be a great resort

Staff fabulous, friendly and always smiling. Buffet very good with endless selection. A la cartel not so good, over rated and over priced. Rooms not very clean, especially with hair and dust balls on floor and in corners. Liquor was watered down except after dinner liqueurs. No meant No to beach vendors.

A great week.

We had an amazing time during our stay at Blue Bay Villas Doradas. Nothing but great things to say about the staff, especially the party committee was very entertaining. The worst part was our small room had no balcony, but our own fault for not getting a better room package. Overall it was a good bang for our buck.

Average resort

The resort was average. I would rate it stars. I went on other reviews, most raved but realistically it was average. The food got better as the week progressed. Lots of selection but quality of food was 5 out of 10. Lots of sodium in the food. Rooms were clean but outdated and basic. Our room flooded during rain storm one night and front desk never responded until next morning until 10am. Constantly being pestered by people selling goods and services on the beach. Entertainment was mediocre. I w [... read more]ould not return. Air Canada Rouge overbooked seats and we had to wait almost until boarding for seats. We booked trip in July. Very disappointing. Weather was great and so were the folks we met. Resort was very clean and staff were nice.

Lovely Resort

The staff was very friendly, the food, while limited (Only 3 ala carte restaurants, was very good. The buffet had sufficient variety that I could eat very well, even though I am vegetarian. Vegans may have a bit more of a challenge. We went on some wonderful tours as well. The only downside is that if you want to go to the pool, unless you get there very early, the chairs are all taken, even though there are only a couple of people in the pool. Somewhere I had read that you should not reserve c [... read more]hairs, but this was largely not enforced. Some people prefer to spend a lot of time on the beach. We were warned that the beaches in Puerto Plata are not that good because the sand is not white. We did not care about that. The sand is similar to that of beaches in Ontario. We are also not the type of people that spend the entire time on the beach. We prefer to get out and visit the community we are in. This is what we did. We got to see a school, interact with the students, see a farm and spend time in the city.
