Truly relaxing and pleasing

This was our first experience with an all inclusive and we will partake again, as we had a wonderful time and all things met our expectations, and then some. We are in our 60's and needed an adult only complex and this was wonderful.

Lovely Vacation

Great resort ! Grounds, pool, rooms, beach were clean and beautifully maintained. Service was exceptional! Highly recommend this resort. Smaller resort close to Havana and Varadaro. Lots of activities to participate in if you choose to. Quiet adults only resort. Snorkelling was very good. Can't say enough about the staff !!

A great time.

First time to Memories Jibacoa. I would recommend it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Friends we travelled with have returned many times. There is a great hike close by, a trip into Havana by car is a must, and the jeep tour is a blast visiting the countryside. The a la carte restaurants are great ( I recommend the tuna) and the entertainment staff outstanding. DO NOT lose your beach towel though! I paid 20 pesos on check out. The pool was too cold to swim in, and the wind was too [... read more] high to be on the beach some days, but that is weather, there were some hot sunny hours in each day.

Best staffed resort!

This was my 6th trip to the resort, first as Memories. Small, comfortable and intimate, the staff are always available and eager to please their clients. If you enjoy snorkeling, the reef just off the beach is wonderful.

Friendly and small

Comfortable rooms, housekeeping great, most of the staff were fabulous, entertainment mediocre, bar drinks satisfactory but nothing special as fruit is very limited. The beach was clean with a good snorkeling reef if the relentless wind diminishes. Food is very disappointing, bland, and limited at times. Overall, very safe and clean but we would rate it as a three star resort.

Amazing snorkelling experience!

If you are looking to have an incredible snorkelling vacation with no kids, this is the resort to go. Bring your own gear though. Evening shows are great too! Rooms are clean and the staff is friendly.

Tremendous holiday destination

Wonderful experience in a lush and safe setting. Hotel staff was amazing, great food, beach and entertainment. Being close to Havana, we were able to spend an entire day in the city. Our guide and transportation were fantastic and very knowledgable.

Welcoming resort

A return visit to a resort that caters to returning visitors looking for a relaxing vacation. Great snorkeling right off shore, a nice sized resort so it is easy to get to know people, staff and other guest alike. Food pretty good for Cuba. Nice quiet location, very safe and close enough for an easy trip in to Havana. Staff are exceptional. Grounds well kept. Rooms very clean.

Very nice holiday location

The Jibacoa Memories Resort was much as we expected. The staff were generally very pleasant and helpful. Our room was adequate although there was very little water pressure for the shower. The room was in good condition and well cleaned before our arrival and each day. The main buffet was adequate although somewhat repetitious. The al a carte dining ( 3 out of 7 nights) was excellent. Although the coral reef is right out front, as I expected, the winds resulted in the beach being red flagged every day. The staff and locals confirmed that wind is usual there. Regardless, we did enjoy snorkelling and saw a good selection of tropical fish. .

Wonderful Resort!

A smaller quiet resort with impeccable grounds. Surrounded by beautiful mountains. Wait staff were excellent and the buffet was quite nice. It is a short ride into Havana, just 40 minutes. Old Havana is a must see while staying at the Jibacoa. We will definitely return for another relaxing holiday!

Just Okay Now

This was our second time at this resort. We had a good time but probably won't be back. The first time was 2004 when it was Breezes. We definitely liked it better as Breezes. We like the location, the layout is small and easy to get around. Overall, the staff are helpful and friendly. Some of the same staff from 2004 are still there. Management didn't acknowledge or reply to my 2 emails I sent regarding our anniversary, so that was a bit annoying. The demographics have changed and for us in our  [... read more]late 40's, we felt very young there. I was told that some UK travel agencies sell this as a seniors resort. Only a handful of people under 40 during our week and tons over 65, 75 even 85. With that said, when the disco was open, they played American Rap music...? Some salsa, pop or rock would have been nice, hence the disco was empty and closed early on the nights it actually opened. I know the a/c is broken, but my group would have danced to some good music. The old head chef from Jamaica (Breezes) had amazing food and tons of variety. This time, the buffet had pretty much the same food every day at lunch and dinner with almost no variety. We go to Cuba quite often and this was bad even by Cuba standards. The a la carte restaurants were a bit of a step above the buffet. Some upkeep needs to be done, some minor renovations are in order. Overall a nice stay, but not a memorable vacation like when it was Breezes. For the discounted price we paid, we were happy, but I wouldn't pay the rack rate here anymore.

Exemplary

Pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, professional and courteous staff, and the exceptional variety of Elliot prepared meals! The beach was very well manicured and felt very safe with the surroundings.

Epitome of Luxury

Oh, what a lovely, perfect vacation. Every moment around the pool, and every top of the line restaurant, was thorough enjoyment. All was 5 star in my opinion. Rooms were large, clean and well air-conditioned. The only snag: THE BEACH - rocks everywhere and impossible to walk over. This was a huge and important factor. If beach is number one on your list of priorities, do not pick this hotel.

Pleasant but not outstanding

My fourth time at the resort. Some improvements have been made but other areas are very tired and in need of repair and updates. The food wasn't as good this time - it was better a couple of years ago. The staff are as always friendly and welcoming. All in all a good resort but not wonderful anymore.

Relaxing

Loved it! Spacious room and great beach. Friendly staff and fun activities. Make sure to take advantage of the free tennis lessons. The grounds were well kept and the view from the room was incredible.

Lovely, friendly place

I have no complaints about anything... Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean, the pool large and about 40C temperature like the environment. It rained only in the evening two days.

One of my Favorite Places!

This is a great value resort. The employees are all fantastic, funny and competent. The rooms are very nice, the grounds are lovely and the beach and coral reef are great. The daily entertainment is top notch. It is fairly quiet and a great place to relax. I have met some really interesting people from all over the world. I just got back from my fourth time staying there. It is also centrally located. Havana is about an hour ride by taxi, Santa Cruz de Norte is only about 10-15 minutes away. I wanted to go to Cayo Largo but somehow the room disappeared when i was told there were at least 16 rooms left - and I was SO bummed!!! I called back and spoke with Jenn. told her what i wanted very specifically. she listened and recommended Memories Jibacoa. This was my first time in Cuba, and an all inclusive. I'm a traveler and don't usually do touristy trips. So I was looking for a quite, remote resort. Memories Jibacoa was it. i couldn't believe that i enjoyed myself so much. Thanks Jenn.  [... read more] I also wanted an ocean view room without any obstructions. They rearranged me to the 11 th block right away and it was perfect. Phew. If you have an ocean view ask for a room with the least trees obstructing the view. The hotel staff are awesome. The hotel was super quiet whips was perfect for me. I was there for a week and started getting to know people and even though I wanted to be pretty much left alone, I made some awesome people and made some friends. The nightlife was pretty good with several shows each night but someone suggested that I go to the piano bar which was a blast. I'm not a piano bar kind of person but everyone was singing along to classic rock songs and it was actually a blast. The a la cartel food was really great. The food was ok at the buffet. I'm a foodie. The Internet was also spotty. For someone who's always wired, this was the longest I went without. Maybe a good thing...but despite these only downsides. it didnt matter, just too many upsides to this place. The rooms were clean and somewhat 4 starish. I prefer true 4-5 star but again it was clean well kept, plenty of towels, sheets changed whenever I asked - so all good. I loved Cuba, surprised me. I'm going back to the country and don't want to risk any other hotels - will be back at this hotel.

Little piece of paradise

We usually travel to Jibacoa twice a year for rest and relaxation. We found this destination in 2007 and cannot help but come back every year. The beach is beautiful and offers great snorkelling. The snorkelling scenery is one of the big attractions for my wife. We love the grounds and vegitation surrounding the resort. It makes you feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere off the beaten path. The size of the resort is perfect as it is not too big and everwhere is accessible with a short  [... read more]walk. The biggest selling point for us coming back to the resort is the staff and their kindness. We have developed great relationships with the staff ( Yoel, Nelson, Yaniel and Mike) to name a few. There are so many others I could mention.We feel the staff are so genuine and always make a big deal when we return. The front desk staff always try to accomodate our requests it we are travelling with a group and Julie the manager is very approachable if we have concerns. This April we brought two other couples to the resort for the first time and they said they will be back with us again!!! This resort seems to all the right qualities to have people come back again and again. We have brought friends to the resort who will be coming back as often as possible. Anyway, we love our experience at Memories Jibacoa and will continue to return. If i were to offer any criticism, i believe some of the rooms require some upgrades and the air conditioning in some rooms improved. That`s about it!! Oh yeah, the Cerveza is great too! Nice quiet resort.

Overall the resort was nice but very quiet. As an adults only, I expected quieter than some but we were falling asleep by the pool at 10am due to the sedate music. The resort is small but that was a good thing. Everything is close. The food was better than I expected, especially the a la carte restaurants.
