Good resort

Overall it was a pretty good resort. The pool is large and lots of shaded areas. The buffet is large and there was quite a selection. However it is open so cats and birds are always around. The beach is beautiful and kept clean. All the palapas were destroyed from the hurricane but they were being replaced with brand new umbrellas on our last day there. This was our first time in Varadero and found the staff not quite as friendly as resorts in Cayo Coco. The beach grill was great and Carlos was always cooking up something good!! Lots to see and do though in Varadero!!

More like a 3star

There are quite a few things that need to be fixed. Phone in room broken. Both of our air conditioners broke down. Hotel looks tired. Food was poor. I've been to Cuba 14 times and stayed at many different hotels that had way better food. Beach bar serves rabbit not chicken. Very poor drink selection. Hotel runs out of everything. Went into town to get decent meal.Didn't think the staff was that friendly except for the entertainment staff by the pool. The beach was beautiful . Hotel full of loca [... read more]ls. Disco was small room full of teens. Never saw yard maintenance being done. The gym was disgusting and broken equipment so I didn't get a workout.

Great beach great service, but poor food

We enjoyed our stay in los cactus known as breezes before. The rooms were spacious and clean we had a great view, the beach was the best part of our stay. There is only one pool and it's only 1.2 meters deep however it's open 24/7 so that made up for it. The service was great and all the staff were friendly. The food quality was very poor I know it's Cuba but I have been to Varadero before and wasn't this disappointment there is only restaurant for buffet and they always had the same items to pi [... read more]ck from. Overall all we had a good time.

Amazing resort!

I have been to Varadero 7 times and this is the first time I can truly say that it was an excellent choice to stay at the Hotel Los Cactus, great service from all the staff, the beach always clean. The restaurant always with clean and ready tables. The food was very good. It was an excellent holiday.

Great Beach

Beach was great! We were there in low season so lounge chairs were always available. Rooms were large. Only 1 pool but didn't really use it. Food was mediocre as expected. The resort grounds were beautiful with mature plants and flowers.

Amazing resort!!

Everything was taken care of.. the most smooth going trip i have ever had! Great place. Great beach. Great staff and moat important amazing coffee!!! Rooms were very spacious and clean. The pools and Jacuzzis were great way to meet new friends. I give this resort 2 thumbs up!

Nice resort but rude staff

grounds amazing,large rooms but moldy,very rude staff make my stay not pleasant at all. air conditioning is very noisy and not cooling enough .If you looking for nice beach and nothing else you go to this resort.

Fabulous Experience Again

I have been to this resort about 30 times, the grounds are well kept, the dining is okay, the room was good, the wifi spotty, the staff are friendly and warm. I have found those that show respect and are patient will enjoy their stay. Some who are demanding and condescending will have more difficulty, What's that old adage " honey get's better results than vinegar".

First time all inclusive

Got home yesterday and we LOVED it!! The beach is beautiful! Lots of shade if you need it. Had trouble near the main beach entrance, just past where security sits. There's a ridge in the sand where it kinda drops off and you're not expecting it. Lots of people almost fell so be careful there. The pool we sometimes found cold but was refreshing and we really enjoyed it. The hot tubs are awesome. It is an older resort but work is being done to improve it. My husband, friends and I enjoyed our trips to his grill. The 3 a la carts were really good too. The resort has the BEST ice cream! Even people with dairy intolerance could eat it. Buffet is buffet....Danni was always warm and welcoming. She's a dear. Stayed in a Garden View Suite. Bottle of wine on arrival, some got rum instead. We really loved the room. It was clean and large with a whole separate room we didn't use. 2 newer looking ac units that worked great. Lots of hot water, just give it time to adjust its temp. Mini fridge. The water was replenished every day, the pop and beer was not. Comfy bed. I really loved the adults only, smaller resort atmosphere. We got to spend time with old friends and new. We will be going back and I can't wait!

Nice resort

I just got back from Veradero Cuba. I travelled with my brother and 2 girl friends. We enjoyed a comfortable stay at Los Cactus Resort. Other than a few minor incidents the hotel was fine. We were treated well by the staff who made us feel very welcome. We had very enjoyable conversations with Roberto from the Duna Bar and Alfredo from the a la carte dining room. The beach grill was great and Carlos makes a mean hot dog and burger. Our housekeeper Nancy was amazing, very friendly  [... read more] and accommodating. Nice resort

The hotel it self is getting older but still nice I thought the grounds where well taking care of.The weather and beach where awsum, Food I didnt mind it but my wife wasnt crazy about it. The people that work there are very nice and pleasant.

Beautiful Place

This was a beautiful hotel, the beaches were so nice and the staff was wonderful everyone had a smile on there face and they were all very helpful. We had a great view from our room of the trees and a small view of the ocean these rooms were the garden view suits which I strongly recommend. We got to know the beach cook very well, loved the hotdogs! At the pool bar the bar tender knew what we wanted to drink as soon as he seen us. We did a day trip to havana, I would definitely recommend and th [... read more]e Jeep safari which was very good too. We hired a taxi and went down town which I felt quite safe. The breakfast was really good.My husband and I are pickey eaters so we had trouble finding things to eat for supper. The Cuba a la cart was good and also the entertainment on the resort was good too. Nice resort, but a bit dated

The hotel is getting a little arthritic in its joints, but renovations are being undertaken and will no doubt bring this otherwise nice resort up from 3-star to 4-star. My room was clean and the view from the balcony of this Junior Suite was just terrific, with coconut palms and flowering bushes between the building and the the beach, the view of which was a huge plus. I could see the wonderful blue ocean and people swimming and dodging the sometimes white crested waves. Two bars by the beach and several more in different parts of the resort made it easy to get a drink, and they were all free. The bartender at the Dunan bar made a terrific Mojito. The bathroom was clean, but could stand some renovation. The staff was friendly everywhere, but that's the nature of the Cubans. The maids who cleaned my room every day were very helpful and went out of their way to aid me with whatever I needed, including information about various things around the resort and the surrounding area. The food was pretty good, but then I'm not a fuzzy eater, so I was very satisfied with the selection available in the buffet-style restaurant, where I had most of my meals. There are three other restaurants catering to those who enjoy a more formal dining atmosphere The town of Varadero is a ten minute taxi drive away. There are many restaurants, bars and clubs there, catering to every taste and enumerable souvenir shops and stalls makes it easy to find a little memento from Cuba and Varadero to bring home. Frequent entertainment by small bands (con juntos) in the restaurants and bars made for a pleasant experience and for those who like it a bit more lively, there is the discotheque. All in all, I had a good time and will be going back again.

Hotel surevalué

La plage et la mer sont très bien. C'est calme et propre. Le site est beau. Les chambres sont simples et propres. Elles auraient besoin d'un profond rajeunissement. Le buffet est très très pauvre et "cheap" C'est du copier coller tous les jours. La soupe, le pain et le café le matin sont très bons. Les boissons, quelles qu'elles soient sont très très diluées. Même les boissons douces sont très diluées. Je ne recommande pas cet hôtel.

Would go back for sure

Can't say anything bad about this place as long as you are ok with not always having the drinks you want! When they run out for the day you need to try something else. Nice grounds and great staff. First Cuba trip and was pleasantly surprised 😎

Awesome beach resort!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Los Cactus. The grounds are well kept & clean and the beach is spectacular! There were always plenty of choices of places to sit by the pool & on the beach. The food was good- better than our previous 2 visits to other Cuban resorts. We especially enjoyed the Coffee Bar! The only downside was our room for the first 2 nights was in the junior garden suites which had a musty smell & was in the same building as the disco which meant loud music until 1am. However, [... read more] we asked to be moved & with the help of our Transat rep we were moved to a different building to a very nice room. It's a small resort which was nice- it never felt crowded & the lines for the buffet weren't bad. We met many people who return to this resort yearly & I can understand why!

Really Enjoyed it!

This resort was a wonderful experience! We met and had a blast with people from all over the staff were absolutely helpful and gracious to my husband and I friends included! Met a couple that have returned to this resort for 20 years We loved the shows as well I would recommend it to all our friends 😍 thanks Kathy Stone

Wonderful resort

this place is a home away from home for us. the minute we arrived we were greeted by the staff , we happen to know most of them as this was our 18th visit to this resort. Our suite was the best location for us as my husband has balance problems. It was close to the restaurants , the beach pool and whirl pools. Entertainment was superb every night. Food was also good in the restaurant , the staff reserved a table close to the buffet for us. Italian restaurant is a special treat with great s [... read more]ervice. We did not visit the Cuban restaurant as it required stairs. Gardens are well looked after by the friendly gardeners, who kept all walkways clean. Lots of new sun chairs on the beach also beds in the shady areas. Unfortunately some people reserve them very early in the morning plus sun chairs as well and use these only half the day. Security personal cleaned and helped with chairs. We enjoyed the coffee bar before and after dinner, where you can enjoy all different kinds of coffee. We really enjoy the friendliness of all the staff at this resort. This is a smaller cozy hotel where you meet other repeater.

Great Value, Great Location, Great People

This was our fourth trip to Cuba, and by far, the most relaxing vacation we have had there. Grounds and location were excellent, room was very good, great balcony looking out on the ocean. Spent most of our time walking 1st Ave in Veradero, you have to go, hiking or on the beach. Take lots of sun screen, plenty of shaded places, but the sun is very intense. All a la carte restaurants were very good, Italian the best though. Remember to tip the staff, they appreciate it.

Awesome Experience!!

Beautiful people, Beautiful place. Service was amazing, breath-taking beach. Pool area very well maintained. LOVED THIS RESORT! So close to the beach! A trip to town is a must! We will be revisiting next winter!
