Beautiful Resort

Really well kept grounds and clean resort. Beautiful white sand beach and sea very good for swimming. Staff mostly friendly but many spoke no English or only little. Any side trips were very expensive and we ended not taking any of them. Not a friendly location for non-smokers. Restaurants were smoke free but cigar and cigarette smokers were allowed to smoke inside all the buildings and spoiled the air for non-smokers. For this reason I would not recommend this resort for anyone who does not smo [... read more]ke. Smokers had no consideration for anyone else.

One resort that delivers...

We were 2 mature couples who traveled the world including a few inclusive/adult resorts, with more than high expectations. The location "Punta Cana" was outstanding; the resort "spotless"; the entertainment and food better than average; the staff from the booking to the shuttle, the Hotel and cleaning was more than accommodating. It was a relaxed and smooth vacation in spite of the size of the complex (adult and family-over 1000 rooms) although separate from each other shared restaurants. The co [... read more]mplex spread along the beach made for wonderful walks but also offered constant shuttle trains as alternative. Of course there might be dishes that were not to our likes, neighbors with total luck of consideration (noisy/smokers/w/sense of entitlement: reserving chairs). The way I see it, these individuals make their presence in any type of resort, no fault to the complex. One thing that could be improved? make wifi available and free even if in lobby only.

Great Resort for the Price

Just arrived back from the resort, rested, tanned and a few pounds heavier thanks to the great food. AirTransat personnel was great for fixing quickly issues or concerns. Busy place but relaxing. Booking a King bed doesn't mean you get one, at least right away if you don't mind switching rooms later. Otherwise you are stuck with two double beds. Drinks are very generous. Suggest you bring your insulated travel mugs (Big Bubba's are ideal). Adults side, things shut down at midnight with food stopping at 10:30pm. Otherwise you have to go to the Deluxe side where families are to get 24h food and beverage. No swim up bar on the adults side which is different but no one seemed to mind. You never wait long for your drinks from the friendly staff. Grounds are well maintained and cleaned including the beach front. Excursions being offered are quite pricey given they are in US dollars ($100US avg per person) Some excursions like the sailing adventure we wouldn't recommend. It's $115US /person. and it's 4 hrs on a boat that simply passes by the front of the hotel and stops just down the beach. The place is busy with the beach stretching down a line of resorts. All the excursions pass in front of the hotel so there are lots of boats with music pumping up and down running up and down the beach. Also, the helicopters…average of 4-5 of them buzzing overhead that felt like you were at a military base. With all that aside, we did enjoy ourselves, met some great people and did relax with some great weather. Don't be afraid to try this place, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing, relaxing vacation

Beautiful resort....well maintained and amazing staff. Large resort but easy to get around to the Palace or golf course and found walking to be faster than waiting for the train. Food was good and very consistent from day to day at the buffet restaurants. Sante Fe steakhouse at the Palace was our favourite a la carte and reservations were never a problem. Adult side is quiet and low key and rooms are older then the palace but everything worked and bed was very comfortable. Great Resort!

This resort is good. The food was good with lots of selection. They are a bit disorganized in setting things up, for instance we were celebrating our 30th anniversary and I had asked if they did anything for this and they said they send you up a bottle of wine to your room, as well as a breakfast in your room the morning of your anniversary. Resort is kept very clean, and beach is beautiful. Lots to do there. When we checked out they never did ask how are stay was either, which I thought was kind of funny because most places do ask that when you check out.

Open Air Dining and Ocean Views.

Every all inclusive resorts have their good and not so good points. Overall, the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Club deserves praise for the things it does right. The beach location is good with a beautiful walkway joining the larger and more extravagant Barcelo Palace which is family friendly. The Beach Club is an adult's only resort with average, but clean rooms. The beauty of these accommodations is that all rooms have an ocean view. Maid service could be better. There are many to choose from spread throughout the multi hotel complex. These are true a la cartes not the hybrid varieties found at other resorts. No salad, appetizer buffets here. You order all dishes from a menu and they are served to you. The perfect date night! Probably the best I have experienced. The beach was good with the water not too deep and plenty of clean washrooms within easy reach. It was easy to get a spot under a palm tree any time of day. bar service was good and there was entertainment every night. The hotel had a beautiful pool. The Barcelo has a small open air feel. We enjoyed our week's vacation there. Our only concern was that we weren't there to see every palm tree lit with Christmas lights.

Fantastic resort

Let me first mentiob the staff, particularly Yuni Eusebio who took care of my son when he hurt himself on the second day of our trip. He arranged the trip to the clinic and was quite helpful. Manuel Guillandeaux was also helpful. The staff called for the next three days to check on my son's recuperation which was very much appreciated. The grounds were immaculate, the hotel was clean, the beach was wonderful, chairs around the pool were always available.

Nice place, service was OK.

Nice resort, more amenities on the side with families. Service at the bar was lacking. Would have been nice to have a swim up bar at the adults only resort. Would have been nice if WiFi was included in the price of the resort.

EXPANSIVE ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT

The resort includes a beautiful new wing that is expansive and housed a modern disco and casino. Well manicured lawns and music along the pathways. The food is excellent. We stayed at the adult section and enjoyed the Caribbean trilogy - lobster, shrimp and crab.

Fantastic Resort!!

This was our first trip together as a couple and the resort was absolutely perfect! We got a room over looking the ocean in the adults only section, and the room was very clean and so was the resort. The beach was phenomenal, they would have the seaweed cleaned up before 7am, when you walk along the beach to the other resorts you see how awesome Barcelo Bavaro is!! The Adults only pool was a bit quiter as well, but the swim up pool bar was more eventful if that is what you are into! Great staff, [... read more] so many choices for the a la cartes - the Japanese one is great even though it is extra. Even the buffets had very good food - fresh seafood, chicken, beef, whatever you like! The resort is very big so you get the exercise walking around, but they do also have a train to take you around the resort every 10 minutes. We did the Snuba tour and speed boat which was extremely fun, they put on a good trip!! Would definitely recommend this resort to anyone - couples will definitely enjoy! We will be coming back here to enjoy again next year :)

Wonderful time

We had a wonderful and relaxing time. The staff are friendly without being in your face all the time. I noticed that they did not chat and visit a lot among themselves while working and this is class! They had the best smiles ever. My husband has dementia. ALL the staff and the guests were helpful, kind, considerate and friendly to us. The rooms were quiet,spacious and clean. They had the best pillows ever!

Wonderful beaches

The beaches and grounds were immaculate. The food was surprisingly good for a buffet and the restraunts were delicious. I would get reservations immediately as they go quick. The rooms were nice but the walls are paper thin so don't expect alot of privacy. All in all it was a great trip

Amazing vacation!

The hotel was beautiful. Everything was very well kept. The food was delicious, pool was always clean, beach area was gorgeous! The animation team was so much fun and made the stay an incredible experience! I can't wait to go back to this resort next year!

Me Encanta Punta Cana!

I visited this resort in 1999 on my very first trip south/to an all-inclusive. Since then I have been to Nassau, Varadero, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Maya, and Antigua and have never found anything that compares to Punta Cana, namely for the beach. It is absolutely incredible! Unless you're not a fan of coconut palms, white sand, or calm turquoise ocean. The resort, though just an average 3.5 star resort 15 years ago (and take note that the tripcentral photos are from that time, not curre [... read more]nt, check the tour operator photos for current ones), has been completely renovated and upgraded. So much so that it was unrecognizable. I would have had no idea I had returned to the same place (though I believe this adults only section has been moved down the beach a touch) if not for the beach and knowing we had been at this far end of Bavaro beach. I spent all day every day on this beach and could not have been happier. I spent no time in the pool area but it did look nice, clean, and had some areas shaded by canvas. The room buildings are three storeys, ocean front, plantation style I would say with palmed courtyards in between them and within them. My first room was in building 1 overlooking the theatre and lobby bar so I asked to move (which could only be accomodated two nights later) since I like to go to bed early/rise early. It was quite loud until midnight/1am ish. My second room was in building 5 and was very quiet. Though for some reason did not have the lovely blue accent wall, bedskirts, and drapes (instead they were maroon and gold, not nearly as tropical). The beds, pillows were quite comfortable. Minibar refilled daily. Bathrobe and slippers. In room safe (no fee). Large double sinked vanity area of the bathroom. No complaints there. Food was good, lots of variety. I only went to the buffets, El Caribe (main buffet) and La Brisa (lunch only). And the views while you're eating are wonderful especially at La Brisa as it juts right onto the beach. Service was good. I was maybe a little neglected being solo I felt, they seemed friendlier with couples, groups. One difference I noticed since originally visiting is that they all speak very good english and almost insist on it even when you speak spanish to them. In this way I kind of felt the resort had lost some of its Dominican charm since I'd first been. Also I remember merengue and other latin music being constant back in 1999 but now the resort plays zen type music coming out of rock-shaped speakers lining the footpaths and elevator music ABBA covers on repeat at the buffet. That was really disappointing. I missed being immersed in that part of their culture. The little bit the Actividades team played and coming from the tour boats passing by the beach had to suffice. Walking down the beach was a lovely daily routine, for me and a lot of other people. To the left there is a "local" area with a shopping "complex", beach bar, and "marina" where a lot of tourboats seemed to depart from. Then another resort (the Mariana?), another "local" area, then the Melia resort. That's as far as I went and could happily confirm the Barcelo has the best beach (though the view out to sea has been ruined by a couple platforms, one is the dolphin tour I know). Walking to the right is the Palace Deluxe section of the Barcelo resort and then an amazing stretch of virgin beach. I especially loved that walk. Grounds around the resort are immaculate and workers were always busy on the beach cleaning up any seaweed washing ashore. The actual beach chairs are the best I've ever seen at an all inclusive and never had any issues getting beach towels replaced. This was my first time to an adults only resort and had never had any "issues" with the children at other resorts but I was quite glad I had chosen to stay here instead of at the Palace section as it was an absolute zoo, I'd never seen so many families with young children on vacation. The quiet at the Beach section was very nice. And it is just a much more pleasant atmosphere at the Beach section all around. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this resort. Of course there are fancier, higher-end resorts out there but if you want a true beach vacation, I can't fathom any place better than the Barcelo Bavaro Beach.

Something for Everyone

Lots of activities and a variety of beach/pool areas to enjoy. The resort is very well planned. There are about 10 restaurants to choose from and the food and service are good. There is a very active pool area and 2 adult pools which are beautiful. Overall it is has something to offer everyone. The only thing missing are more dining/bar areas with an ocean view.

Beautiful Bavaro Barcelo

Barcelo Bavaro Adults only was a beautiful resort. Very clean, gorgeous grounds, the best beach. The bartenders are very generous with the booze and good quality liquor too. The Caribe lunch buffet wasn't great but the LaBrisa lunch was much better - chicken, grilled fish, grilled vegetables, fresh pasta, lots of salads. Most of the dinners were good, not great but the food is different in the Dominican. Chez Gourmet (chateaubriand) and LaBrisa (veal) were good for dinner. There is no beach serv [... read more]ice for drinks but there was around the pool. On the flip side, the room was very musty,(but clean) we got used to it eventually. The bathroom shower is small but the water pressure is great and the water hot. There were ALOT of smokers here so I was constantly moving away to get out of the second hand smoke. I really think they should have some areas smoke free (especially the cigars were stinky).

9 times to Punta Cana, this is one my favs!

I stayed at the adults only, which is the best to stay at. You can use the facilities at the other side but come back to the tranquil side of the adults. My group nicknames the other side "Vegas", so big, so modern, very un-caribbean feeling. All the ala cartes were very good and something for everyone at the buffets. The water was gorgeous and blue like all of Bavaro Beach but more calm as you are in the cove. Rooms were well appointed and very clean. Never had to fight or save chairs at pool o [... read more]r beach no matter what time you got there, this is a A++ feature in my mind! If they could improve on one thing it would be the service. Either excellent or less than desirable. Don't think about it, just book it!!

Beautiful

The beach is beautiful, you could walk for miles in the white sand and there was lots of activity on the water. The resort was clean, there were a lot of options for meals and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Great place to relax

Very quiet section to relax, if you want more action ... Just need to walk to the Bavaro Deluxe. Only comment limited access to catamaran and food are not always clearly identified could be a concerns if you have some allergies or food intolerances such gluten. But the is a rich varieties of food and drinks to satisfied everyone

Great Resort - we would go back

Hotel is close to the airport. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, well groomed grounds. Service at the bars/restaurants was quick, food was great with lots of variety at the buffet, as well as plenty of restaurants to choose from. Make your dinner reservations for the week as soon as you get in to get better choice of seating time. Evening shows at either resort were very entertaining.
