Never again

Air conditioning is broken 95% of the time. Rooms are not always cleaned. Took 3 days just to get a beach towel. Food is rarely hot and always the same. Zero night life! Staff is not very helpful! Hotel is dirty! Ants EVERYWHERE!!! Never never again!!!

Great Value for the money!

Although the hotel is dated and can use an upgrade, the hotel and staff made an effort trying to keep all grounds clean and well maintained. We stayed in a bungalow 6 of 7 nights, near the beach which was perfect as we spent almost all our time, the hotel pool was average. Stay in a bungalow if you have the chance as it is newer than the main hotel. First night we had a room in the hotel which had older electrical and we did not bring a converter, so no sleep apnea machine or chargers. Volleyball was fun when a good group played.

Nice Resort

All in all the resort was average. The rooms were clean that I saw. I heard some say no AC or hot water. The grounds were in quite good shape. The pool by gym needs some work. The food is 3.5/4. The staff were wonderful and extremely friendly and helpful. All in all, I would rate it between 3.5 -4.

Good resort

Everything was very close , so didnt have to walk far to get to anything, liked the way things were setup but thought when getting a bungalow there would only be our party and nobody else under or over us !!!

Everything about it is average

This resort was about what I expected - nothing fancy, a little underwhelming at times, but it grew on me. The food was not bad, the buffet could have used a little more variety and could have been hotter/warmer as opposed to cold by the time I got there. The a la carte restaurants were pretty good I'd say. Service could be better, but overall was acceptable. Eg. getting water bottles in the room everyday was not a given, had to ask multiple times for things at front desk, did not receive beach  [... read more]towels in our room, etc. The air conditioner didn't really work in our room, fortunately there wasn't many bugs so we just left the patio door open all day/night. Strangely, our room didn't have any pillows... The hot water worked for the most part, one day there didn't seem to be any though. The beach was nice, the pool was good (lack of swim up bar sucked though). Overall, I'd give it a 3.5 stars - you get what you pay for. Better service would have easily given it a 4.

Pleasantly Surprised!

We had never travelled to Cuba during past vacations due to the negative responses from other travellers. With the recent changes being considered in Cuba and the addition of the resort to the Sunwing Signature packages we decided it was time to try to visit the island and determine on our own what the island has to offer. I followed a few resorts and watched as the reports for Aquas Azulas increased in ratings from poor to good. The food was plentiful and the atmosphere was relaxed with abundant entertainment that catered to various genres of musical talents. The coffee requires improving in the buffet area but thankfully the coffe bar in the main building was superb. The consistency with coffee would help as many Canadians really enjoy a good cup of coffee especially in the morning with their breakfast! Drinks could be improved especially they way in which they are served- flimsy cups so I would suggest bringing your own refillable Insulated container. We are pleased with our selection and hope to return again one day to the beautiful island of Cuba.

Breath taking beach

The grounds were being worked on while we were there, the food was great, drinks delicious, great entertainment, the beach was absolutely gorgeous,showers were not in abundance of water friendly staff

Not Bad For The Price

The grounds and public areas were okay. Food was really good. Main pool actually had grass, leaves etc. floating most of the week. Took a picture where a kiss was left on a wall in our room. Lots of little ants, no hot water. Needs a lot of work! Still recovering from bug bites (sand fleas?)

Amazing resort

Garden and common areas are cleaned. Food is very good and big variety. Beach and view is magnificent. Staff is very polite and kind. I was there first time and happy to visit this resort again. Variety of tours available for a reasonable price.

Very Happy!

We were very happy with our recent stay in Bungalow A2207 at Aqua Azules! When we booked with Trip Central we had asked for a 2nd floor in a quiet location and that is what we got. The rooms were very spacious with 2 balconies (1 full and 1 with just a rail). The food was good, the service was great, along with a beautiful beach and bus stop near the end of the hotel driveway We heard many complaints during our 10 day stay February 15 to 25 but mostly from people who were staying in the hotel se [... read more]ction. We also heard complaints from those staying in 5 star resorts! Our only negative would be that the bed was a bit hard! We certainly would recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to return. i

No communication with outside world

Old resort, run down in a lot of areas. No water in jacuzzis. Phones in rooms do not work. There were full days where you could not contact the outside world by phone even if you did use the phone in the lobby. Very upsetting to people who needed to be in contact with home. At times toilet had no water and the shower was always cold. But the pools were clean. The beach was beautiful and our bungalow was large and clean. The food was edible but not good there was only one restaurant pools were great room was clean bed was hard service was good people were friendly no Internet unless you went up town and bought it coffee was good

Nice Resort

Resort was good overall, nice pool area. Hotel needs work and staff are great. Doing their best to keep up with problems and demands.Food was good, buffet with lots to choose from for all three meals. Al a carte restaurant was terrible - food was cold.

Nice break from winter!

We had some things that needed attention, and the staff accommodated us. Food, pool, beach, were great. This is a 3 star hotel, and that is what we expected. Some of the staff needed to give guests friendlier attention.

Fantastic Vacation

Visited Jan 27 to Feb 3rd, 2016. Travelled with a friend and we booked single accommodation. On arrival, we were assigned rooms in different wings. In under 10 minutes we were moved closer together, 1606 and 1610. Fantastic newly renovated rooms, new bathrooms with tubs, very convenient. We had visited 3 years ago and the upgrades at the resort were very notable, I know there is still a lot to be done and it does not happen overnight. The promised beach towel and water were in the room and water [... read more] replenished every day. The staff were fantastic everywhere and it was nice to see so many that we had met before. Our rooms were kept spotless as well as the hall. Maid was a bundle of joy. Pools were sparkling and surrounding area very well cared for. Visited the beach which was extremely popular. No words to describe the water, beautiful colour. had no problems at all with the food, so much to choose from. We did the 3 ala carte resteraunts, loved the Cuban, not so much the seafood but the best of all was the Italian. Cant say enough about it, great atmosphere, impeccable service and the best thin crust pizza I have ever eaten. The Sunwing reps were very good, offered help with any problem and were very easy to find. Hotel staff were great in every area we were and the Manager himself was highly visible, I wondered at times if he ever slept. it was nice to see the patio off the lobby bar being used. A great place for an after dinner drink and listen to music. Made use of the Hop on Hop off bus to do a little touring downtown. Great way to see everything. Truly had a marvelous week and we intend to go back next year.

Food good, beautiful beach however maintenance problems I.e.no working air conditioner and plumbing problems Entertainment great every night and pool area clean. Close to Havana for visit and hop on off bus to town of varadero

A touch post-apocalyptic but overall...FUN!

My sister and I had a great time but the grounds were super sketchy and run-down in a lot of areas, all the meat tasted weird or was undercooked (I ate a lot of bread), we couldn't snorkel because the water was very churny and rough most of the time, I'm covered in bites, the locals are AGGRESSIVELY flirty, and my stomach did NOT fare well. But, you know, CHEAP! Most of our fun was based in off-resort activities: going to the town of Varadero, a catamaran excursion, and visiting the nearby Cuev [... read more]o Ambrosio and the ecological reserve (walking distance). I mean...definitely go for the fun of Cuba but expect bites, stomach issues, and sub-par food and cleanliness.

Jewel in the rough

The staff were all really friendly and they really did their best to help. What one has to remember is that a 3 star in Canada is not the same as a 3 star in another part of the world. It is interesting to see what we take for granted. To see someone giving the staff a difficult time for something that is not their fault is very unfair to the staff and really makes me feel bad and somewhat ashamed that a fellow visitor finds it necessary to belittle the staff.

Beautiful Beach!

It is old but, we had a great bungalow. The beds aren't great but they will do. The beach is fantastic and the water is warm and clear. There were plenty of food choices and the bread is the best anywhere. They really go all out with entertainment. They even had a little animal circus. The animals were healthy and well looked after. It was fun for the kids. The staff are very nice and helpful. We didn't have any problem hanging money at the desk. Oh and there was plenty of booze and the beer is  [... read more]delicious.

Average for what you pay I enjoy for a one week stay.the stop are friendly,And I enjoyed the seafoods .i been to this hotel twice I enjoy it,except this hotel needs maintenance its leeking everywhere,
