Relaxing vacation

Resort was well kept, except for the seaweeds on the beach, they were only removed the day we left, so we had to look at them all week. It was probably worse then usual due to storm that passed through days before we arrived. Staff was extremely vigilant with hand sanitizing. Upon arrival we were tested for Covid at airport, that was time consuming. Very short ride to resort. Check in was smooth. I’m a celiac so I met with someone from guest services who brought me to dining room to meet the [... read more] chef. He proceeded to tell me what was safe and what wasn’t. Chef’s knowledge of celiacs disease was limited, he didn’t seem to understand cross contamination. The cook in the one a la carte we went to was much better and ensured I had a safe meal. We stayed in a lagoon room, wasn’t worth the money in august, as it was way too hot to enjoy the balcony. There were no mosquitos. The biggest problem we had was money. We did a lot of research and spoke to people that had been recently. Even the web page quotes prices in US dollars ($30 pp US for Covid test to return), so we brought American money, which in previous years was not accepted but things are changing. I also had some left over CUC that I wanted to give away ( nobody wanted it, even though the time to use it was extended) finally found someone that took it. So getting back to the US money. The hotel would not accept it for anything. They wanted credit card payments for everything. As do government shops. We used the US money for tipping and came home with lots left over. So be prepared to use your plastic ( something we’ve never done in Cuba in the past) All in all it was a relaxing week. First time going to Cuba in the summer and I found it very hot, but it was even hotter at home lol. Nice breeze at the beach all the time. Not sure I’d return to that part of Cuba!

I can't say enough good things about this resort. Must go again!!

It was our first travel experience during covid (also our first time going to Cuba) and I had many questions regarding the hotel, covid protocols, country entry requirements, etc. so I decided to email the resort directly. Gippsy (Sales Manager at Melia Cayo Coco) was very helpful and answered all my questions. The resort was quieter than I’m used to at all-include resorts (due to people not travelling yet because of covid) but I found it very relaxing and welcoming. Thank you to Jorge for making sure we had our usual drinks even before we even sat down to eat our meals, to the garden men (Rahal, Felipe, and Joel) that would come find us at the beach for our daily dose of fresh coconuts, Joel for introducing us to his drink called the “Joel Special” and for hosting our private billiards night, Alberto for our daily chats and organizing our snorkeling trip out at the reef near the resort, all the dancers for providing such fun entertainment (I have never had so much fun dancing in my life!), Emilio for always making sure there was a bottle of water for us every morning, all the servers (so many to name but especially to Yulia, Idolina, Jesus) for being so kind and attentive to our requests. During our stay at the resort, we felt very safe! Staff were always masked (most times even double-masked plus a face shield) and they were always sanitizing their hands. We constantly saw the high-touch areas (doorknobs, faucets, light switches, etc.) being disinfected as well. Guests were required to wear masks in all indoor areas (unless actively eating or drinking) which was very well enforced by the staff. For example, when walking up to the buffet area, guests would not be served unless they were wearing masks! Regarding the buffet, the staff would fill up your plate which is so important in reducing guest exposure. I can not say enough good things about this resort and how well they have adapted to covid. Resort did not disappoint

First time back to a resort in a long time. Recommended by a friend and the resort was everything they claimed it would be. As we stepped off the shuttle we were welcomed to a drink and the Manager personally welcomed us back to Cuba. This may have been special as we were the first Canadian group back to the resort since the lockdown. The resort is very picturesque. The most valuable asset of the resort are of course the staff. They make you feel like family almost immediately. I highly recommend the resort if you're looking to relax and recharge. Good rooms, good food, good people.

Great as Always

This hotel I’ve been traveling to since 2002 about 25-30 times. I’ve never had a complaint. I’ve travelled to hotels across Cuba. And this has always been my favorite. And this trip was no different. Always the best.

Everything was as good as before. Love it there. Best staff in Cuba ❤️We will return always. Can’t wait to return in November. Everyone is so welcoming that u can’t not go back. Thankyou melia for keeping the hotel consistent always and also very well done jobs by your cleaning and disinfecting staff. Everything ran very smooth.

Great Resort

The room, grounds and public areas where all clean and well maintained. Arrival and covid testing was fast and efficient. Covid testing for return to Canada was $30 USD and easily done right at the hotel.

Great resort, wonderful time!

Staff of the resort did a great job, they are ready for guests, new season, new life after COVID. The resort is very green, beautiful beach- one of the best in Cuba. Our room was very clean, recently renovated. La carte was working a little bit slower, we tried International and Mediterranean, but the buffet was great, so didn't go to check another ones. All associates were working hard to make our vacation enjoyable and unforgettable.

Very quiet resort

The hotel was kept very clean . The staff was very friendly. The rooms were dated and our maid was great, but we had no air conditioning in our room! Some of the bars open in the late afternoon and the piano bar wasn't open at all. The food was just good, but ok for cuban resorts. The beach was very nice. The resort was relaxing but just too quiet and filled with mainly older people.

Small quiet resort

Very nice place. Food good, but can be the same every other day. Every day was windy and lots of red flags. The staff are great and will do anything for you. For Cuba as usual beach is the best Now the only down fall is that tripvcentral never told us that West jet will charge for bags....How Disaponting that was, I was lead to believe that bags were part of the price Maybe post this or tell your customer this

Wonderful holiday at the Cayo Coco Melia

The Cayo Coco Melia resort holiday was outstanding. I cannot say enough about the staff, the food they prepared, the facilities and accommodations. Everyone we spoke with, even two 87 year olds, enjoyed the resort!

Lovely Resort

This adults only resort seems to really cater to a slightly older crowd. It was quiet and laid back. The food was pretty good except for the restaurant at the beach and barbecue which we found pretty mediocre all 3 times we ate there. The staff was curtious and friendlt

Amazing resort!!

The lagoon room we had was great, with beautiful sunsets and a lovely veranda overlooking the water. The food in the buffet was fresh and plentiful with lots of different types to choose from. All the other eating areas were also very good and easily accessible.We really enjoyed the music in the lounge each evening and the drinks were also very good.We loved the beach and the water was so warm .The beach bar was very handy. We loved everything about this resort and will return again.

Perfect holiday!

Loved the view from our balcony on the lagoon. Very peaceful and could watch the sun rise and sunset over the water. The food was EXCELLENT. Staff lovely. I can see why so many people return to this resort year after year.

Good value for your money

The hotel is small enough, convenient to walk between different restaurants and facilities. The beach is amazing, with clean white sand and turquoise water. Staff everywhere are respectful, provide amazing services; an attestation to hotel management. Restaurants' food are average compared to other Caribbean islands, but the cook-to-order seafood/meat section in the buffet restaurant is tasty. Wonderful Resort

We were at this resort from Feb 8 to Feb 15th. The resort was awesome, the beach was fantastic and the food delicious. Definitely would recommend this resort to anyone who wants a relaxing vacation. Grounds were very well maintained.

Overall good resort

Beach was amazing even with the wind. One dislike was the “reserving” of beds and chairs by the pool. Food in the buffet was plentiful and good; however, the al a cartel could have been better especially the beach bar al a carte. Vegetarian items at the al a cartes were not well noted even though there was apparently a vegetarian menu. When the vegetarian menu was requested, none of the restaurants knew about it.

Best beaches

Better than expected. Would have liked better hours at the fitness centre by the beach. Yoga classes should have a proper instructor and were only 20 to 30 mins long. Food was varied but preparation needs some tweaking. Overall the staff aimed to please.

Pleasant surprise

I was very pleased with our trip. I had only been to Cuba once before and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. In Melia Cayo Coco from the moment we arrived until the minute we left it was amazing. The hotel was very clean and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and kept clean every day. Our rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. Sometimes items weren’t available but we always found something we liked (I am very fussy about my food so was hesitant about going to Cuba). A la Carte restaurants were very good but so was the buffet and the snack bar and beach restaurant. The entertainment was amazing. Bands, singers that were as good as the original artists, violinists at the pool in the morning. I didn’t want to fill this out because I want it to remain quaint and I want it to be available when I want to go again and I will. Oh and the beach was spectacular. Warmer than the pool.

Best Resort in Cayco Coco

We had an amazing stay at the Melia Cayco Coco!! Best resort we’ve stayed at in Cuba. It’s all the little extra’s they do to make your stay memorable. Don’t hesitate to stay here. They have none of the problems of the other hotels I’ve read about. You won’t regret if!
