Great Service, Ample food for you to choose from, at breakfast, Lunch and dinner and in between if you still Hungry, crystal clear water, great entertainment every evening and night, as well activities on the beach and the pool, friendly staff they go out of their way to hel, Drinks ample kinds and strength, Best Cerveza and best coffee, accommodation is fine not the most luxurious rooms but very acceptable and always clean. if you need snorkeling equipment or fishing gear they have for rent. Very Good Resort

After being there a second time, I still love this resort. Rooms very clean, bathrooms need some updating. Beach beautiful. Food was very good, only disappointment was I had two teenagers with me and every time we went to the 24 hour swim up bar for food there was never a cook there. Workers very nice and friendly especially two ladies at swim up bar during the day.

Most amazing vacation

This was my third visit to the Melia Cayo Guillermo since June 2014. The resort it's self is a bit dated but that does not take away from the vacation. The staff at this resort are what make this place feel like home and will continue to bring me back.

Friendly atmosphere

Over the last eleven years there have been some improvements to the a-la-carts and the lobby, buy some things are starting to show their age. There is the promise that Melia intends to upgrade all the rooms, section by section. if these improvements happen and maybe add a third restaurant, I will probably return for the fishing there.

Great relaxing time!

The grounds and the rooms need a bit of tender loving care but the rooms are clean, the food is good and the staff at the resort more than make up for the shortcomings.The beach is the best we have seen in all of the resorts we have been to.

Love this place

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) Resort is a little tired, but the staff are great, beach is fabulous and the food is good. Management needs to work on better wine! Wine really bad! However, this did not take away from our trip. Staff amazing. Food good

Mature resort

Mature resort that needs some refreshing with paint and public washrooms need to be updated and kept maintained with the basics of soap, paper towels and toilet paper. She is a grand lady . The beach is amazing and the staff work very hard. "Melia" needs to spend some money on this resort and not just focus on building new ones so they will keep the clients coming.

It is great

hotel and grounds are keep very clean. people were all friendly and helpful. food is really good. beach is nice . they were fixing the peer so it was safe for people to walk on. music and games were fun to get involved in

Awesome resort

This hotel far exceeded my expectations. The food was always good and eating area very clean. The staff was amazing and so friendly. Stunning beach and very nice rooms. I would recommend this resort. Thank you for the memories.

Desaster resort

Old,rundown!the front desk service don't care about you!they have no solutions for you problems! Saw cockroach at the buffet room and friends have the room infested by them! The person cleaner my room she is very nice, she did her best but the place is broken down ! Every day same food! I Don't Recomend ! Disgusting

Great Trip!

We were bumped to the Meliá Jardines del Rey, a new resort. Rooms were clean & comfy. Service was great. Not all wait staff are fluent in English but there was always someone on shift who could translate to ensure our needs were met. Eating out with Celiac disease is always a challenge. Special thanks to Enrique in customer service for printing a letter explaining my dietary needs. I provided that to the chef each lunch and dinner so my meals would be prepared separately. I did bring my own cer [... read more]eal for breakfast The sun, sand and warm temperatures were fantastic. We also enjoyed a bus trip to Moron and learning about Cuban culture. I recommend Meliá Jardines del Rey and would definitely return there myself!

Very new resort, under construction but not bad

We were pleased with the resort it was clean & staff was very nice. Negatives - construction, sewage smell, rocky beach full of coral, too big. Positives - lots of food variety, safe,clean, large rooms, great pools. will be better in a couple years when its all finished.

Very Disappointing

We visited this resort with our expectations in check but we're still disappointed. The resort was clearly beautiful 20 years ago, but it looks like it has been left to rot. The beautiful fountains and waterfall were dry. The marshy areas were overgrown. Sime of the wooden plank walkways from the hotel to the beach were rotting, broken and uneven and dangerous to walk on. The fencing around the pool area near the cabanas were rotting. The pool floor was obviously crumbling and covered by an ill  [... read more]fitting pool liner. The resort was uncomfortably dark at night. The lights along the front of the buffet dining room were hanging by the electrical wires. There was virtually no fruit or vegetables, but the most uncomfortable part were the cockroaches that climbed the walls and in the vacant high chairs. The walls needed painting and repairs. The tablecloths were frequently dirty. We were informed by a staff member that the juices were made with regular tap water. During our stay our youngest son and his little friends all got tummy sick. The ac stopped working for half the resort while we were there. The beds in the rooms were dated and the springs in the mattresses poked through. The lighting was very dim and there was very little water pressure. The staff members were attentive if you tupped them first. Our first night my son dropped his ice cream and the cup smashed. The waiters didn't come to help pick up the glass. We picked up as much as we could and it stayed on the table. The beach was beautiful, but right in the center of the strip was a rotting pier. My sons found a huge metal spike in the sand while they were playing. Fortunately they weren't injured. This trip is not worth the money you will pay.

Melia Cayo Guillermo - Nice Resort!

Just returned from this resort after a weeks stay with my daughter and grandson. We did a lot of research before deciding on this resort, and it was well worth the effort! It is a beautiful property with an awesome beach! The resort itself needs a lot of TLC, and the pier that is pictured is now closed off (even though people used it!), as it is unsafe, and does not look like the picture...this was VERY disappointing! All in all, it was a very nice, relaxing vacation.

Melia Cayo Guillermo...Great Setting-Tired Resort

My wife and I just returned from from a week at this resort. The basic facilities are rundown and tired. The wharf is "closed" as it is weather-worn and unsafe. Each of the main water displays, a fountain and waterfall, do not work. Our room felt and looked like an old motel room. The maid assigned to the room did a great job keeping the clean and tidy. The food in the main eating area was not gourmet but the selection of meat and fish was outstanding in variety and preparation. Breads and othe [... read more]r baked goods were high quality. House wines were palatable. Bar service inside and outdoors was splendid. Outdoor and entertainment staff were top-notch and most friendly but indoor staff did little beyond the basics. I have never been less inclined to tip. The sun, beaches and surf were spectacular. Playa Pilar was very beautiful. The speedboat and mangrove snorkelling tour was fun and informative. The natural setting is strong draw to return to Cayo Guillermo but not to the Melã.

Relaxing Oasis

This resort has the best beach in the area, friendly staff, clean facilities, plenty of choices for food, clean rooms and great entertainment. Definitely not a rowdy party spot but a great place to relax and enjoy! While we were there the walkway over the water was closed as it is in need of repair and the tower was taken down I'm assuming for the same reasons so don't plan any walks down the pier, enjoy the beach instead. Three of us travelled to Cuba together for the first time in March 2015 a [... read more]nd had heard so many things ranging from "the food is horrible in Cuba and they don't have any spices" to "the beach is rocky". I don't know where these people stayed as we had a wonderful time and repeatedly commented to each other how nice it was.... if you want spice just try the salsa in the centre of the buffet! While we didn't eat off the prepared buffet (we took advantage of the omelette & poached egg stations for breakfast and the pasta station for dinner) we did try some things and although they may not be exactly what we're used to we certainly didn't go without ! If you need ketchup for your food you should bring your own but with all the other sauce choices I would suggest trying something new.....you might like it?! We ate in both of the a la carte restaurants as well and the food was very tasty, the entertainment in the International restaurant was simply amazing, we could have stayed all night listening to the trio.

Amazing Vacation!!

My stay at the Melia Cayo Guillermo was fabulous! The food was good, the room was clean and comfortable, and the pool and beach were great. The staff are spectacular! I'm already planning my next trip!

It's Cuba !!!!! Amazing resort

The rooms were clean except for towels which were not washed and belonged to some else with blood stains which ran under water as well as face towel which I had put on floor to change . Food excellent , staff wonderful

Best week ever!

I have to say my husband and I had one of our best trips yet! This was our second trip to Melia Cayo Guillermo. Yes the rooms could use an update but our room was spotless everyday, the bed very comfortable and an awesome view from our balcony. Air conditioning, lots of hot water and good water pressure. A special thank you to Greter, at the pool and Ariel, in the buffet and lobby bar for their superb service. They were a lot of fun. We received awesome service everywhere. We didn't have to wait [... read more] in any big lines. The food was excellent. They fogged every morning and I don't think we ever saw a fly. We spend most days at the ocean because that's our favorite. On a couple really windy days we went to the pool. The pool was warm and very clean. We made the most of everyday and had a fantastic time. I like to try different resorts but my husband keeps wanting to go back to Melia so chances are we'll be there again soon. I have a friend travelling there next week as I recommended it to her. I'm sure she'll be as thrilled as we were!! Thanks again to everyone for a fabulous vacation!!

Not bad

The rooms were a little tired, the food was typical Cuban food but the drinks were plentiful and the staff did their best to accomodate your requests. I would totally recommend the Jeep Safari, well worth the money! On the down side, the day we returned I had a terrible case of "complicated traveller's diarrhea", not sure what did it as we were very cautious!
