Mush needed holiday

The majority of the hotel on a whole was good, the food was excellent. The one complaint we have was some of the staff were less than nice. Some were down right rude, these were mainly the staff at the bars on the beach and some of the staff in the restaurants. There was one person on the breakfast station making fresh pabcakes, eggs etc. She could not do more than one service at a time and could not cook eggs at all. She was very nasty if you asked her to make an omelet of fried eggs which  [... read more]were eith over cooked or under cooked. I would highly recommend that she be taken off the station and be given a job that did not require people contact and cooking. On going problems with the tolets not flushing properly, we were offered a plunger but that was about it. The last day of our visit the maids just made our beds, no fresh towels, no clean glasses and they did not wipe or clean the room. Checking out was frustrating, we had purchased some items at the hotel store and we did not have money on us at the time, we were given an option to put this purchase on our hotel bill. When checking out they were not going to provide me with a bill for the purchases rather simply took my credit card, it was only after I asked twice that it was provided. Painful to watch this person get me my receipt she was extremely slow at providing this. I questioned the bill as there were three charges on the bill and I had purchased two items, she indicated the last charge was optional some sort of tip ( of course it's in Spanish so had no idea what it said). I asked her to remove the charge it was approximately $10.00 American so since we are Canadian it is much more. Wonder how many people actually just pay the bill and not look at this extra charge. I find this quite concerning since that store is part of the hotel. Although I would recommend this hotel I would warn the people of the extra charge should they have purchases on their room bill. Also would explain that the resort has some issues mainly with the pluming In the rooms and the bathrooms around the pool and beach area.

Amazing vacation!

I'm so glad I talked to Jenn and she got us this vacation! Staff treat you so well, they try to accommodate you, very clean place, amazing food! Tour bookers wouldn't refund our money for an excursion when we were sea sick from a previous excursion. Travelers book excursions carefully but other than that we all had an amazing vacation!

INCREDIBLE RESORT!

This resort was absolutely amazing. The food, the hospitality, the views. Extremely clean and well kept, and no chance to get bored or have nothing to do! Every possible activity you can think of! Will definitely return. Not to mention how surprised I was at how good of a family resort it is as well. Although we stayed at the tulum (amazing for couples) part of the resort we visited coba (one of the hotel areas in resort) as well and would recommend it to anyone going on a family trip. Amazing resort

Everything was amazing, the food, the resort, the room, the crowd,and the staff. So much to do at the resort, which means no need to leave the resort. Everyone were really friendly and nice. The beach was a bit dirty.

Amazing Resort-Grand Bahia Principe Tulum Mexico

This resort is amazing, the food is so fabulous, from the prawns, crabs lobsters, fish, fall off the bone chicken and wings, to the mouth watering beef. I cannot say enough about this resort. the California King size bed. The cleanliness of the rooms and resort. The grounds and gardeners they got us coconuts. The beach always a beach chair or palapas. The restaurants and the people are so amazing. Great size rooms. The pools are very large and very clean, No mosquitos did not see a single one. N [... read more]o flies either. Bathrooms around the resort very spotless and everything working. They have trollys that take you around the resort from rooms to lobby or beach and they take you from one resort to another or shopping all for free. There's 4 resorts on the very secured grounds and they are all amazing I recommend all 4 of them for their great services, Luxury Grand Bahia Principe Akumal, Grand Bahia Principe Tulum , Grand Bahia Principe Coba and Grand Bahia Principe Sian Ka An.

Wonderful Relaxing Vacation

We travelled with WestJet vacations out of Hamilton. Our flight was delayed by 5 hours which was a big nuisance. The resort is beautiful. Large but perfectly fine. Food was excellent and beach was rough some days. The staff are friendly. Rooms could use some upgrading. We weren't able to get dinner reservations which was quite annoying. The towel cards are a little lame. No wifi in the rooms only in the lobby. Luckily for us we had read the reviews and purchased Bongo and it was great. The buffe [... read more]t was lovely. Lots of selection and food was cooked perfectly. I would classify this resort as a 4 star not a 5 for some small details noted above.

Wonderful trip

Had a relaxing, wonderful stay however the beach is only good for walking, not swimming, way to shallow, no waves and it is rocky in many places. Food is very good, rooms could use upgrades but overall service and expectations receives an excellent.

Beautiful resort

Lovely, clean rooms, could use dehumidifer. Mayan people beautiful, helpful and hard working. Warm waters, cool sand, a small swimming area with some rocks, lots of sea weed but they do a great job racking it up. Spacious Pools and good food. Enjoyed my visit. Would give it 8 out of 10.

Great stay overall

We stayed @ Grand Bahia Principe Tulum from April 11-18th with a group of 12, 6 Adults and 6 children. Overall our stay was great, very nice place and huge....lots to do but we had some issue during our stay. My wife, my nephew and my older brother got sick with very bad vomiting and diarrhea, it’s likely the food from the buffet at Tulum main lobby area. But I have to say in general the food is good especially @ the snack bar and the la cartes. Booking the la cartes is a very slow process a [... read more]nd my experience with one of booking staff was not good ( long story). Overall the staff @ Tulum and Coba is very nice, friendly and they work very hard to entertain you. The rooms at Tulum was nice but shower door, phone and TV was faulty. My biggest disappointment is the BEACH, lots of seaweeds at the time, lots of rocks most part where you cannot swim and just a small area was designed to swim. We will go back to Grand Bahia Principe in Mexico but not in a hurry.

Excellent place to go.

If you like big resorts, this is the place for you. Many activities possible on the resort itself as well as outside the resort. You can visit a few places by taking the collector bus which is very easy and inexpensive. The food is fantastic, the place is very clean, the employees very nice and helpful. Wonderful vacation spent with my family.

10 days of bliss!!

We just came back a week ago and had an amazing time! The place is so well kept! The staff was amazing especially Jordan Juan and Pedro from the Yucatán buffet restaurant! Room was great and food was really yummy! The nightly entertainment was awesome. Thanks to everyone that had a hand in making this wonderful trip happen!!

Average resort

The grounds were very nicely kept. Huge resort you needed to take shuttles to get to and from tulum to coba. They were not very reliable.we usually had to wait 45 min. The food was pretty good. The service at the buffet was excellent . At the a la cartes it was very slow. We had 9:30 reservations and they were not busy at that time. It would take 30 min before they would come over to take a drink order. They were more concerned with clearing the other tables. At the bars there was only  [... read more]1 bar tender working, so lines were always long. We had a relaxing and overall good week. We stayed at the Bahia in Jamaica twice and this Bahia doesn't come close to the quality of the Jamaican one

Amazing resort

Very large resort, beaches were beautiful, entertaining games in the pool during the day and awsome live entertainment at night. From magic to dancing. Large variety of food at the buffet resturants. I gained weight this trip. Only thing I think they could do better is the service in the resturants. They were understaffed took awhile to get a clean table and drinks during busy hours.

An amazing trip

The resort was wonderful. The staff did everything they could to pamper us and the food and drinks were more than adequate. The resort was clean neat and tidy. The buildings were all impressive and very useful.

Kind of an upset

The hotel staff were very friendly and staff by the pool were entertaining job well done. The food was alright, very repetitive and boring after the third day. Booked A la cart dinners the day I arrived and 2 reservations had to be made for 10pm towards the end of the week.. the pool areas were nice. bars seemed understaffed at times, drinks seemed watered down. in my opinion the most important part of the trip would be the beach, which I would have to say sucked. Considering I've been to other  [... read more]beaches in Tulum I was very surprised how rough and rocky the sand was and how tiny the actual swim area is. Also if I was aware of the neighbouring part of the resort Akumal I definitely would have booked it over Tulum. Left the resort multiple days and enjoyed the real beaches of Tulum 20 minutes to the south . usually 7 days feels short but not this time. I would say 3 star

5 Star Resort

Our stay at this hotel was wonderful! It is a 5 star resort. The only downfall is the size of the resort - it is huge! But because of that, it has something to offer for everyone! The beach is beautiful and sandy and warm. Downside to the beach, it wasn't as beautiful (for pictures) as it could have been due to the wave breakers out in the water. Lots of pools which are clean and warm to swim in. Lots of bars! :) The staff were all very friendly. The food was all very yummy, and again, LOT'S of variety for food choices. We were always able to find food for my 4 and 7 year old boys to eat (who are less adventurous with foods). The night shows were the best of any resort I've ever been. While I was there, they had a Frozen show for the kids, Cirque de Soleil type show and a Michael Jackson show. We visited the sister resort next door - COBA - for the waterpark for the kids. Ate at their yummy buffet by the pool. There are golf-cart trains to take you back and forth and around the resort grounds. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Vacation with the grandkids

Great vacation spot pools and beach area were very clean We had access to another property which allowed us access to the kids pool area Buffet food was good but you need to get there shortly after they open They have dolphins on site great education for children Over all it was a wonderful place with a few minor glitches Spa for a break was really, really good

Nice Enough

Hotel was mostly pleasant. A plumbing issue in our room was a bit of a hassle and took two days to get fixed (frustrating to be in a room with two children under 3 and no working sink), but after hearing my displeasure they waived a charge to the room to say sorry. Unfortunately the charge was only around $13cad so it didn't mean a lot, but i guess the intention was there. That was the only real negative to the trip. The grounds are kept good and clean, restaurants are all accommodating [... read more] to children, the wildlife is nice to have so commonly around, food was all very good and the artificial barrier on the beach area kept the ocean safe and child friendly. The constant use of the trams to get to the other resort for a la carte restaurants and to get to the children's waterpark was more hassle than it needed to be, but definitely not a deal breaker. Also, bring a lot of US dollars. Everything is listed in usd and they do on the spot conversion to pesos that always means you are losing out. I also don't remember everything in Mexico being so expensive, but NOTHING is cheap anymore. A bag of chips in the Cancun airport is nearly $10cad.

Beautiful resort

This resort is very clean and well kept, everyone is friendly and helpful. Everything you need is on the resort, but if you want, there are lots of options for day trips. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly.

Resort Review

The grounds were very well taken care off and the beaches were absolutely beautiful. The 2 complaints I have compared to other resorts I have been to in Mexico is the staffs English was nowhere near as good as other staff in resorts in Mexico and the rooms were very basic compared to other resorts around the same price point.
