Wonderful Renovations

This is our third visit to the Maya Beach Resort and we will be back again. We have tried other resorts in the area but this one has a great beach area that you can swim I in ( very little coral that you can cut your feet on although if you swim far out you will need swim shoes because of the risk of a coral cut). The staff are very helpful and friendly. The new renovations are beautiful and the new mall is nice. The Tokyo resturant is the best for entertainment and food. Beautiful Resort

We had a wonderful experience at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the resort was well organized and beautiful. The weather was perfect and the we were not bothered by anyone selling us junk on the beach. The food was excellent and we were cared for by happy and attentive servers at the buffet restaurants. Great stay!

Very nice hotel, pools and beach were very nice, and staff was very friendly and accommodating. The maya and Caribe side were more modern décor, while the tropicale and colonial were the more traditional Mexican décor, it was nice to have access to all 4. The a la cartes were fantastic! would stay here again, huge resort with lots to do We did have our bag stolen at the pool, but can't blame that on the resort!

Very nice resort!

Grounds were lovely, beach was gorgeous, staff friendly, everything always nice and clean but...room was damp with the humidity, air conditioning quality might have been better and we had trouble with our phone even though it was replaced twice. I would definitely recommend this resort!

Barcelo Maya Beach - Overall Good Hotel!

Overall the hotel was beautiful. An older hotel that seems to be doing their best to upgrade and keep up with the times. Always well kept grounds, very clean and generally appealing. Lots for everyone to do. We had an 11 year old that enjoyed finding seashells on the beach, splashing in the big pool, playing chess, basketball, paddle tennis, bowling and billiards and watching the dolphins. We didn't find the bowling or arcade as reasonable. $12 US per person to bowl one game seemed expensive to us. But we still had lots of fun doing it. Rooms were clean, well stocked and comfortable. However the bathrooms don't seem to have fans which can make for a very humid room after 2 or 3 showers! Pools are huge and clean. Lots of chairs for everyone. Beach was amazing! Clean, spacious, long for walking on and full of things to see. Our only real disappointment was the food. This is our 5th time to Mexico and we usually always enjoy the food. However this resort seems to do the same foods over and over again, not really changing anything up. Need a bit more variety. Lots of walking as it is a big complex but always good after all the food or drink you consume in a day (even if its not the best!) ;) Overall we had a wonderful stay!

Not a 5

Resort was beautiful and had lots of things to do. However, the food was very mediocre - buffet food was cold, several burgers tried through the week and weren't cooked fully. Selection was very repetitive for each meal. Resort was clean and staff was friendly. If food was improved, resort would be a five star in our opinion. Would not return due to the food issue.

Exceeds expectations - lovely holiday

A thorougly enjoyable experience; resort has depth, and many options for things to do; location is good, within easy reach of a number of off-resort activities. Beach is lovely, and snorkelling right off the beach provides rich views of tropical fish and turtles. Staffing levels are high, and staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Very Nice Resort!

The only reason I didn't give the Barcalo 5 starts is because of the travel time from Cancun after an already long day of travel. Resort was fabulous, the food was good, the pools clean and no chlorine!! Beach was excellent and the rooms just what you need.

Fantastico!!!! Loved it.

The Barcelona has tons to offer, amazing beaches, plenty to do, the a la carts were great and the buffets were excellent. The only warning it's a long drive from airport but when you get there it's worth it

Barcello Maya first timer

First trip to Mexico and was impressed. Barcello is a very large facility and when we are able to enjoy the amenities of all four resorts without restriction it was very enjoyable. Never had to compete for space at either the beaches or the pools,Buffets, seemed like there was lots for families to do as well. I don't have little ones but I would not hesitate to bring my grandson here. Sure but more comes with a price tag, for my money we got the best bang for the buck we spent. At the end of the day that' all you can ask for, isn't it?

Great resort for price!

Overall this resort I consider to be a 4 plus. The room was fine, the grouds were immaculate, the beach was very good although the seaweed was endless due to the very windy days but they did try to remove it on a regular basis. The food was good but not alot of variety for buffet restaurants but the ocean front restaurant buffet was excellent with lots of room on the patio everyday to enjoy lunch, also the service was excellent. Night time snacking is non-existant form what I was told, didn't matter to me so much but the late night revellers must have been disappointed about this. Beach related, they can easily add more beach related activities such as volleyball, rental hut for snorkeling, caterman rentals etc. since this was lacking.

Amazing.

Very nice huge resort with beautiful long beach with palm trees, so you don’t need to fight for spots with a bit of the shade. Hotel is very well mainted. Plenty of spaces to stroll among beautiful Mayan sculptures. Food, staff, night entertiment-excellent. The best splash pad for kids we have seen so far. Good snorkelling spot at the right side of the beach. Cenotes to see, are right across the hotel. We highly recommend this resort.

Amazing resort

excellent hotel and surroundings....trip in the jungle and to maya was unforgettable, excellent food. we booked one trip in the jungle AMAZING , we will recommend to anyone young or adult.the beach was the best

Feb 2014 trip to Barcelo Beach Premium

Overall vacation/resort was very good, this was our 4th trip to Barceló in the Mayan Riviera. Premium club was very impressive and worth the extra $$$. Check-in was a breeze. Staff were always courteous and helpful. Upgrades to the Resort were very nice and classic Mexican. I would travel here again. I would like to see an improvement in the selection and variety in food.

Good spot for a vacation

We were very happy with the cleanliness of the rooms. The hotel had a variety of entertainment for all age groups. There was a dolphinarium, a shopping mall, and plenty of restaurants and bars. There was also a large selection of excursions. The hotel food was always fresh and delicious. The staff were all very friendly. Definitely would vacation here again.

Fabulous resort that we will definitely return to

We were at Barcelo Maya Beach Resort in May of this year; our second time there. Food, staff, rooms ameinities and services to be one of the best we have experienced. I lost my passport and I found the bell boys, taxi drivers and our air Transat rep Marcus Chimis to be extremely helpful and reassuring. The bell boy found me a Taxi Driver named Angel Omar Chavez Colli who spent the day taking us to the police station (police did not speak English ) where he translated for us, took us for passport [... read more] photo's and then to the consulate, we could not have done it without him. Also 2days later Miguel Angel another Taxi Driver took us to pick-up our passport and was amazing!!! This was a very upsetting time for me, but through the help of all these wonderful people working through the resort, I got through it and enjoyed a fabulous vacation. Excellent resort !

We stayed already 3 times in Barcelo and plan to visit it again and again - very nice deep beaches, amazing green space, perfect food and service, the personals with genuine sense of hospitality. I definitely recommend it to my friends
