Beautiful Beach

We booked Iberostar Daiquiri through Carol Mack at Tripcentral. We were very pleased with this resort and would definitely return. It is a smaller resort and therefore everything was close. The grounds were well kept and they spayed every morning so insects were not a problem. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms were good but needed a fresh coat of paint on the doors and trims. The fridge did not keep the water, etc cold. The bathrooms, however, were modern and we always [... read more] had hot water for our showers. We recommend the Mexican restaurant. The Italian restaurant was good, except for the appetizers. We could always find food that we liked at the buffets. Go early when the food has been just put out. Now to the beach....it was beautiful!!! The beach was very wide with soft white sand, the consistency of icing sugar. We loved it! There were lots of lounging chairs and lots of space. The ocean water was warm and a beautiful turquoise near the shore. There was a grassy area but you can swim over it. The pool area was also great, with nice wide stairs and a railing to enter the pool. This would be very helpful for anyone with mobility problems. Overall, we were very pleased. The friendly staff, the beautiful sandy beaches and the nice safe ocean to swim in made our stay one that we will look back on with very fond memories.

Amazing staff!

We enjoyed our 2 week stay at Iberostar Daiquiri. The resort is a bit tired but a great value nonetheless. The food was good and we enjoyed the Mexican and Italian restaurants. The beach was amazing and you never had a problem getting lounger chairs. The staff at this resort are the best! So friendly and accommodating! The synchronized swimmers pool show was fantastic. CUBA 2019

Beautiful resort, lot's of renovations completed since our visit last year such as Marine restaurant opened and larger patio area around the pool area. We were disappointed at check in. We advised that we were REPEAT customers and the only request we asked for was a King size bed. We were assigned a room with 2 double beds and had to wait for a NEW room with a King bed. Customer requests should be reviewed prior to arrival to the resort.

Amazing resort!!

I loved everything about this place!! 24 of us went and we all loved it!!! The staff everywhere on the resort were amazing!! We will definitely be going back next year, we already started looking for packages!!!

Great hotel

The flight was excellent the people at the resort were very friendly the towels were nice and big the beach was spectacular. I had a great time. My room was clean and it had a chaise in it which was great. The buffet was small but you always had food to eat.

Amazing Resort

The hotel was amazing. My family and I had an amazing time. We had great rooms, the food we ate were great as well. The staff at the resort are friendly. We are already thinking of planning a return visit.

Unremarkable overall

I have been to Cuban all-inclusive resorts on four occasions so what follows has at least some basis for comparison. 1. Our room was always kept clean and tidy by the housekeeping staff. The room itself was a different matter. The couch, bed, and bathroom had seen better days. In fact the general "physical plant" of the resort was all but crumbling. Perhaps the most disconcerting issue with our room was the the door to our deck (which had a fantastic view of the beach and ocean) had no actual l [... read more]ock. While it was on the 3rd floor, a common balcony was next to it. I could go on about no mattress cover, peeling paint, mold in the bathroom but my observations should be clear. 2. The fridge worked some days and not others and was only stocked on the first day. It seemed to me and to those few I spoke to that requests to address issues was met with a simple transfer to another room (which often had different infrastructure problems). I realize that some of these issues were due to recent storms in the area, but many were clearly long-standing. Without doubt, the long beech was among the best I have walked on in my life. The greatest draw of this resort IMO. 3. I know that before we go to Cuba that the food will not be particularly tasty or varied. However, the food at this resort is in another category. First of all, the ques for having parts of meals (fried fish, omelettes, pancakes etc) were slow and long. One of the pizza cooks was using an two-deck oven where one of the decks was not working. Much of the food seems to have been frozen and reheated--even veggies. This was even the case at the ethnic restaurants. Prepared salads tended to be a creatively presented mix of aging veggies to the point that they became a kind of slush when put on people's plates. 4. Most of the workers were among the best I have ever encountered at any resort. I had a severe medical issue that was handled by the resort doctor and communications person with genuine care and promptness. The servers, gardeners, towel guys, and many of the bar/lunch places were excellent. Conclusion: while the crumbling physical plant and food were well below the 4* designation (even by Cuban standards) the genuine care and professionalism of the workers was outstanding and the beech was outstanding. If a beautiful natural surrounding and delightful staff mean more to you than average food and well maintained buildings and grounds I think you would enjoy going to Iberostar Daiquiri all-inclusive resort. Otherwise, you may wish to consider other options.

Pleasantly surprised!

Spent a week with friends at this budget friendly hotel and was pleasantly surprised. Having travelled to Cuba 4 times previously, I was well acquainted with the cuban cuisine, beautiful beaches and friendly people. The resort is approx. 40 mins from airport. Not a lot to see during the drive, major destruction to the vegetation caused by last year's hurricane. Area consists mostly of hotels, considerable distance from any town. There is a marina nearby for sailing and snorkelling. (I am a snork [... read more]elling enthusiast), not a great coral reef, but the catamaran excursion was still fun. The hotel is small (my preference) with lots to offer. The grounds are well maintained, the pool clean and the beach so beautiful. White powdery sand, lots of chairs and shade available. The water clean, warm, beautiful turquoise, some seaweed growing in areas, beach cleaned regularly. Catamaran, paddle boats, and banana boat activities available short walk down beach. Also parasailing available for very good price, we were able to stay up for 20 mins. and got as high as 480 to 500 meters, very good experience if you get the right weather. The area is very popular for kite surfers as well, provided incredible entertainment on windy days. The hotel itself is older and as I mentioned fairly well maintained. Didn't request upgraded room when booking, took deal of the day pricing. The room I had was clean and comfortable, new mattress, new pillows, etc. Everything worked, view was of pool and oceanview. (All rooms are oceanview) Air conditioner worked, lots of hot water,mini bar stocked daily with water, beer and soft drinks, maid service was excellent. The staff are excellent and try very hard to please it's guests. Check In was well organized, bags portered, no wait for rooms, etc. Desk staff spoke good English and very friendly. Money exchange at lobby desk was actually better than bank! There is a bank on site at the resort. WiFi cost very reasonable for 1 peso/per hour in lobby area, range extended to pool/room area depending on device. Lobby bar by far the most popular for drinks including best coffee, but no smoking restrictions may be problem at times. Dining was a pleasant surprise. Buffet offered many selections and variety. If you like fish you will be very happy, beautiful fresh,local fish/seafood grilled to your liking (sea bass, mahi mahi, baracuda, snapper, large shrimp, and others). For the meat lovers, there was fresh grilled to your preference: pork, chicken, beef, bacon for breakfast if desired. Everything was cooked fresh. Lots of salads, breads, beautiful cheeses, fruit of all kinds. There was a pasta station, pizza station, different stations for different nights. One night sushi, another night amazing burgers need I say more. I can't comment on the desserts as they are not my thing, but I can say the ice cream cannot be resisted. Line ups, yes unfortunately at times, but that is why you book al la cartes, there are three of them, Italian, Mexican and Cuban. Besides line ups are a great way to meet fellow guests. The entertainment was nice, the dancers were very good, couple of ok magic shows, but what I enjoyed most was the informal music in the lobby bar area, local cuban music bands and singers all very, very good. If you like cuban music don't miss out on a opportunity to see the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, not too far from hotel for 25CUC's, up close and personal, small venue for this renowned performance. There are few places I would return to as I love to travel and there is a big world out there to see, but I just might go back to this place. But I would definitely recommend it to the budget minded traveller, lots of bang for your buck!!

Nightly entertainment was a must see!

This resort was the perfect balance of peace and quiet , with exciting entertainment. Lovely meals and service , perfect sized resort that is easy to navigate. Friendly faces and good music. Great time all around!

Good vslue

Good resort. Smaller so everything was within close vicinity...easy to walk. Clean rooms and public washrooms. Good food variety both prepared and freshly done (meat, fish, stir fry). Large walking beach, lots of chairs on beach...no need to "save" chairs!. Water in snorkeling srea so seaweed ofen near edge of beach.

Fantastic!!

Spent Dec 1-15th at this resort and it was wonderful! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of check-in. If they know a full bus load is arriving they should be prepared with more than two people. They could possibly hand out the papers you need to fill out while on the bus to help a little bit - still would need more people at reception though like I noticed at other resorts. One saving grace was that the bar served us drinks while we waited without having the resort bracelet on yet. Never saw any dirty bathrooms or the dirty dishes like some of the reviews read. If you travel you learn that a lot of people are so uptight they think 1 piece of toilet paper on the floor makes a resort trash. Or they think they are high and mighty that one dirty plate makes a resort horrible. These people will always be at any resort and you just need to look past these people and enjoy what's around you!! Yes, the rooms are dated but they have what you need! I had emailed the resort requesting an ocean view as I have never had one in my travels yet. They accommodated and every day I was amazed at our view and that made up for anything (like fighting the patio door to close all the time) that went wrong. Our shower was also plugged, I never did complain though as I thought perhaps it was normal. But it was fixed after housekeeping probably saw it. Housekeeping was great as well as water/pop in the fridge was everyday for us. We did actually have a two day miss on the water so that evening we just went to the front desk to let them know. Water was sent to our room right away. The first 3 days were perfect weather, making the beach absolutely beautiful, no seaweed. With the cloudier days the seaweed does roll in as well as the water is not the clearest. Does not stop you from having a great beach day! Always lounge chairs available, Always shade huts available as well. Never had any troubles with towel exchange. The second week was when my son and I really noticed mosquito bites and noseeums or sand flea bites. Some other people we had arrived with noticed this as well. Aloe seemed to relieve the itching for a bit but the intensity of the itch is soooo different then Canadian mosquito bites!! So that was the only reason I was looking forward to going home was to not to get bit anymore!! Great variety of food and no troubles with hot dishes, they were hot! All the chefs at the fresh stations are wonderful! Food was replaced constantly, they were on top of it! Entertainment was good. It was really nice that in the second week we were there the shows weren't repeated! Different the whole two weeks. Even had a show done in the pool which was beautiful! I would really like to mention this detail if you are planning on doing excursions with the speedboat or catamaran. A detail I wish I had known - the snorkeling mask and snorkels are basic and very used ones! If you have your own, bring them!!! We did the catamaran and its hit and miss if the mask works as well as there really wasn’t enough!! We made it work and enjoyed the fish, we took crackers with us and the fish literally eat from your hand in one of the spots they take you. When it came time to do our speedboat excursion we brought our own masks/snorkels. Glad we did as it was the same old used masks/snorkels. Also if you bring snorkels, swim around the pier, all the fish are there!! bring crackers or banana to feed them Take a walk all down the beach. Different parts of the ocean along the walk are amazing! We had our 9 year old try kitesurfing and would highly recommend that if you have a chance! Andre was fabulous with our son, the whole staff was great! We took the double decker bus to the market. Slightly cheaper for items but not enough to worry about prices. What's offered on the resort is plenty. We also took the bus to Playa Pillar which is a stunning beach! They do have lounge chairs but you do have to pay to use them. All in all I would absolutely highly recommend this resort if you want a nice relaxing vacation with almost no worries!!!! Two weeks is perfect to enjoy it all!

Nice family resort of the right size

Rooms were fine and clean and staff kind and helpful. The beach was lovely and readily accessible. One of the big restaurants was closed having been damaged by a recent hurricane leaving the buffet overcrowded at times with long lineups to get food prepared on the spot. This was a turn off for some of us. I wouldn’t recommend it until the other is open again. Otherwise the food was fine for Cuba.

Loved this resort

Second time here. We hoped all would be well after the disaster of last year. A few issues with our room but they were resolved quickly. Grounds,staff, and food were all excellent. Great view of the ocean from our room. Flight times with Westjet are the best. A special shout out to my favorite water aerobics instructor, Willy. Another great vacation in Cuba!!

Great staff, beautiful beach, hotel needs a lot of attention and update

The staff and beach 5 star. Hotel is a 2.5-3 at the best. Good for a few days of relaxation and enjoying beach and pools. Hotel is clean but with a lot of problems. Staff is very attentive and do their best, it is just too difficult to make up for so many short comings... Overall we enjoyed our stay but will not go back or recommend this hotel.

Unforgettable vacation

Me and my boyfriend we went to iberostar daiquiri on November 18 for two weeks. As the title states it was unforgettable vacation. The service food staff rooms beach everything about the hotel was fantastic. We flew with air transat our flight and transfer to the hotel went very smooth at the hotel we were greeted with beautiful smile and friendly faces. Our beautiful room was waiting for us. As returning guests we were invited to a special cocktail and all the women were giving beautiful roses and lots of thanks from the stuff to us . Staff were just fantastic

I was first impressed by the lobby. It is open an inviting. The couch cushions in the lobby need to be replaced. The staff at the front desk were accommodating and friendly. I got locked out twice at night, once they couldn't get me in so they gave me another room for the night. The rooms were nice and clean. The beds could be updated but I did sleep well. The swim-up bar was fun to hang out at. The pool was lovely. The sand is powdery white and the ocean shades of clear turquoise. We grabbed be [... read more]er from the on site store and went out on the pier and enjoyed some quiet time out there. The food was great, yes its not Canadian style, its Cuban style but still good. There was always a great selection. The grounds were well maintained and it was nice to see regular maintenance being kept up. The only drawback this place had was there was no little town nearby to go and investigate. Once on the resort you were kinda limited to excursions. This place is great and we will go back again.

Small but mighty

I was very impressed with the overall quality.of the Iberostar Daquari. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, staff were friendly, food was really good, fairly quick lines ups at the buffet and bars. I could go on and on. There is a reason why they get repeat visitors.

Awsome Place for R & R

Location great. Beach awsome !!! Food good lots to choose from ,did not go hungry Drinks plentiful Service fantastic Rooms - great view - Guama section top floor,bed very comfortable only con for us is the location- nothing to do off resort due to area. But still a great place

Fantastic Trip

This was our 18th trip to Cuba and like the first 17... it was amazing! Rooms were comfortable and clean, food was decent (you certainly won't starve), the beach is amazing (although the tide brought in some seaweed on the first 2 days but no one can help that except mother nature), pool was clean and enjoyable... We went oct 26-Nov 4... this time of year brings out the mosquitos so bring bug repellent (with deet). The mosquitos were only bad in the evening and there were no sand fleas that bothered us so it was manageable. The internet in the lobby worked amazing - best connection and speed of any resort we've visited. This made it nice to be able to speak to my family at home in the evenings while enjoying the entertainment in the lobby. All in all.... we were very happy and we will definitely be going back!! Lovely resort

The hotel is small and compact. I found it to be very clean and found the staff had a lot of pride in the hotel. Lots of food choices and very tasty. It is a bit dated and could use new cushions for the couches in the lobby but if you could overlook that then all else is good!
