Thirty visits and still return!

A home away from home. We have been at this resort so many times, we now consider the staff our family. It is safe, clean and a beautiful location. Best beach for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and sailing. The pools are clean and the property is lush. The last year, the staff and management have made many impressive, the new lobby bar, the cigar bar, all new mattresses. The restaurants are great, housekeeping staff are wonderful. Just average

Hotel Playa Costa Verde has a few very outstanding qualities above other resorts we have stayed at in Cuba. For example the services they provide are the best. The buffet provide a wide variety of delicious items. The maid and bar services are the best. The grounds are well kept. The beach services are very good with lots of beach chairs for everyone but there are rocks everywhere in the water. However, there are lots of improvement that have to be made. For example there are no nightly entert [... read more]ainment during our stay there which made the nights very boring and cause us to retire to bed very early. Also what little programme was available was not communicated to anyone.

EXCELLENT RESORT

What do I think of the resort? Excellent. We have been going there for 8 years, and god willing, will be another 8. There are no words to describe the place, but other than fantabulous. The staff, the locals are fantastic and the resort makes you feel so relaxed and comfortable. Our home away from home.

Lovely place and really nice people. We were very happy with our choice.

Grounds were lovely, well kept and easy to get around. Mostly level walking. We loved the "small" groupings of the buildings, rather than high rise hotels. Always plenty of choice at the buffet, and 3 a la cartes for dinner choices. Entertainment was a little repeated but we had choice to leave when had enough. Our room needed TLC. Was not spotless but OK. AC worked well, patio was facing west so evening sun. Floor clean and Beds comfortable. No frills !!! Would certainly return.

Beautiful resort

Resort was perfect. It was plentiful, with many options, very clean, very safe and perfectly layed out. The staff was very friendly and courteous at all times. Always welcoming from the front desk to the gardeners. Spoke with many return guests who have been going for more than 10 years. Would definitely return. Our first visit to Holguin.

Playa Coste Verde

This resort is amazing. As in the past stays it has not let us down in any respect. The grounds are kept immaculate and the rooms roomy, clean, colourful and comfortable. The pool could use some TLC however it is so popular that it is probably very difficult to find some shutdown time. The beach is average with its small corral outcrops along the entry areas but this is natural and does not impede entry with proper footwear or moving down to a more sand filled entry point. Otherwise the beach a [... read more]rea is clean and neat and the water very clean and clear. This was our 8th trip to PCV and we have yet to find real problems. The food is abundant, fresh and the widest variety to suit almost any desire. The management and staff are probably some of the best in the industry, accommodating, helpful and courteous while most speak several languages (heard on this visit: German, French, English and of course Spanish) The recovery from resent storms has been amazing. New paint, cleaner look and a few changes probably in accordance with past guest surveys. The large clock above the Lobby desk is no longer in place so it pays to keep a watch handy if your concerned about timings. As usual we will be returning to PCV next year as this is our second home away from home, the feeling one gets as soon as you get unpacked.

Absolutely positively an amazing resort

This has been our 8th year in a row at Playa Costa Verde and god willing we will be returning. In 2017 it was not a very good experience. Karl's only baby brother drowned snorkelling. It was trau atic but we did return this year, for alot of reasons. We were supposed to go 2 weeks this year, but we thought it would be hard, but we did go for a week. Stage needs to be updated. People are great Food is challenging because of cooking Ingredients are fresh and great Entertainment is rotating from hotel to hotel which for repeat customers are an issue

Great Resort

The resort over all was great again. This was our second time back to same resort and have been to many resorts in Cuba and this resort was a return for us. This one we will be returning to again next year. What can I says the food was great, grounds, pool, rooms and the beach were all taken care off. Also this is a smaller resort but just right. It usually has an older crowd resort and not as many younger people. The workers were great also. Like I say this resort is a must return for us. Only  [... read more]complaint is don't go to the Japanese Restaurant with dress shorts as its not allowed(our mistake) but jeans are.Food was great & the cook we had, she was great too.

Lovely smaller resort!

The rooms were very clean and spacious at Playa Costa Verde. The housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't care for the ground floor rooms as there were no screens on the windows or patio doors (ground or second floor level) and the room was constantly full of small flies. We requested to be moved to the 2nd floor and the next day were moved, we never saw a fly in our 2nd floor room so were very pleased. It was a bit of a walk to the beach and the beach was quite small and if you  [... read more]didn't have water shoes you didn't want to be in the water. It was very, very rocky so we spent most of our time at the pool. There were three pools (two for children) and a very large one for kids and adults. Loved the pool!!! It was never crowed and the water temp was great. The swim/walk up bar at the pool was great and had some of the nicest staff I've ever met. I found the nightly entertainment to be just OK, the acts were not well polished but they tried hard. Walking around the resort was easy with great wide walkways and everything was relatively close. No complaints about he food, the buffet was always full of something for everybody and the speciality restaurants were fun and delicious.

Great resort

We had wonderful time, it is clean, well run resort with friendly service, great public areas, good food and nice beach. Every evening some excellent pianists, every evening different person, perform their magic around the bar area. Very friendly people in the bar area prepare nice drinks. We will definitely return there one day.

Nice Resort.

I think overall the Hotel and it's surroundings are wonderful.. Well kept and clean. The staff are loving and respectful. It is a very nice resort and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to have a wonderful vacation.

Amazing trip to Playa Costa Verde, Holguin, Cuba

Another wonderful vacation to Playa Costa Verde....Was there from Feb. 7th to the 17th....Cannot say enough about this resort....Staff, food, entertainment was perfect....I have been to this resort 12 times & will continue to vacation at my home away from home...... Always welcomed with open arms..... Returning again next year with so many people that have enjoyed this wonderful resort...

Friendly Staff

Just returned from our trip to Playa Costa Verde. We found the staff very friendly making our stay very enjoyable. However we did run into a few hickups. Upon arrival at 2:00 am checking into our room we walked into water all over the floor, standing at the sink water was dripping from the ceiling and was coming out from under the sink.Had to throw towels on the floor so we wouldn't fall Next morning we went to the front desk and ended up upgrading to a pool side room. We were told with  [... read more]the upgrade a bottle of rum was included. Upon arriving at our upgraded room there was no mini fridge or rum, had to report them missing at the front desk. We went back to the front desk again and was told no rum was included with the upgrade after discovering the fridge arrived with no rum. We went to Public relations room and everything was cleared up, they were very helpful! Not as helpful at the front desk, comments made from a few guests we ran into. Quite a few people we talked to including my friend ended up sick during our stay, having to spend a day or two in their rooms with stomach cramps and diarrhea. The grounds were kept very clean and tidy, the staff cleaning our room wonderful.

Great resort

We stayed in a standard room in the 1200 block and although the rooms are dated, they are specious and kept very clean. The resort grounds are beautiful and immaculately kept. The pools were a little cool but definitely very refreshing after basking in the sun for awhile. Be careful as there are broken tiles in the pool that could cause some scrapes and cuts. The food was good and the hot food station at the buffet always offered up a selection of pasta, meats, fish, pizza, omelettes,  [... read more]salads..... We would definitely not hesitate recommending this place to others.

Wonderful refuge from a harsh winter

The Playa Costs Verde is a mid-sized all inclusive hotel situated on a white beach of fine sand and lined with Palm trees and Palomas to locate your lounger under. Snorkeling, daily towel changes, shallowwarm ocean swimming and Hobicats are all included...as us food and drink. Away from the beach are several lovely pools and a swim up bar. The buffet hall, ice cream bar, 24 he. Bar/restaurant and at 4 separate themed restaurants are all available...Great Japanese, Italian, Cuban, and Steak  [... read more]House. The staff are friendly, hardworking and deserving of a generous tip if you feel you received excellent service. Being Cuba, the food offerings can wax and wane due to supply issues. If you are a car I vote.. .you're okay. If you are a vegetarian who also eats food.. .also okay.

Cuban Resort

The resort and food were exceptional BUT we didn't go to the beach, it had been hit by the hurricane and didn't look inviting plus you had to walk over a bridge of stagnant smelly water (they said it was a conservation pond) so we stayed close to the pool. Overall it was nice, relaxing and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Night life was not to our liking.

Honest Review

Flight there and Late Flight Home . DO NOT RECOMMEND . Home at 4 am Wasted 3 days Much better leaving early morning . Air Canada Rouge Lower Class Been to Cuba 20 times. Avoid going here late January. 65% from Quebec if you know what I mean. Heavy rain 4 out of 7 Food same as most of Cuba. Doesn't bother us. Staff try very hard and are very nice Beach Too far from room. 1000 yards to bathroom. NOT GOOD Mosquitos bad but not as bad as the CAYOS Will never return here. Out in Nowhere l [... read more]and Would give it a 3 1/2 by Cuba standards I thought the resort was closer to Holguin more to explore We didn't go to Guadalavaca friends went there and there was too many beggers Next time I will study things alot more

Feels like coming home!

It had been 3 1/2 years since our last visit, but it felt like coming home. The staff is warm and welcoming. The rooms are clean. Our A/C wasn't working when we arrived (at midnight) and first thing the next day they repaired it. The food in the buffet is not 'Master Chef' quality, but is tasty and varied. The Japanese teppanyaki is delicious and very fresh.

A good choice

Playa Costa Verde is still one of my favourite destinations in Cuba. While the hotel does show some signs of aging, there are continued efforts being made to refurbish. The lobby and snack bar have been revamped in the last year and a new beach bar should be opened soon (Cuban time). The staff are still the most gracious and accommodating people imaginable and do whatever they can to make you feel at home.
