Defenitley NOT a 5 star!

Rooms in our section old and need desperate updates- problems with noisy or non working air conditioners, lack of towels, clogged sinks, black mould, lack of bottled water. There are NO bathrooms at beach or pool area- you have to walk quite far to the front lobby. Beach is nice- pool is dirty with sand as there are no showers working at pool area, lots of algae in pool and very deep to swim in. Garbage and empty liquor bottles from beach laying around the whole week not sufficient lounge c [... read more]hairs and broken ones left in piles on beach and at side of resort Ran out of plates at buffet , hard to get water refills, all staff are not happy, line ups to get into buffet and then you had to find some seating. Need to change this from a 5 star to a 3 or 3.5 !! Maybe Royal and family side of resort has new buildings but the old side needs a lot of work!

Nice resort

Resort was nice,we stay in family section which was very nice and clean. Very modern looking rooms and dining room was clean.Food just perfect for Cuba standard.Restaurant are very busy and you need reserve early for perfect hours! Beach beautiful with plenty of chairs,worth to wait for nice sunset.And pelicans on the beach showing skills how to catch a fish daily.Nothing to complain at all.

We loved Paradisus Varadero

it began with a rocky start; mosquitoes in the room when we arrived. This was not the norm and believe a staff member may have been doing some work in the room in the evening with the door open. Once repellent was sprayed the mosquitoes were minimal. The room was very luxurious with a large jacuzzi tub, incredible outdoor shower and two sinks. The king size bed was very comfortable and we had complete control over the temperature so it was comfortable all the time. We found the buffets to be very generous with lots of options. We really enjoyed lunch at the family buffet as it was air conditioned. The al la cart restaurants were hit and miss, but we still enjoyed the friendly staff and unique decor of each one. The entertainment provided every night was really very good and a great variety. The white light show on the Friday evening was particularly great. The 24hr snack bar was a bit of a let down and became a bit of a joke after seeing so many people waiting so long to be served. We waited close to an hour for drinks, french fries and one hamburger, a bit much considering there was only one other couple there at the time. The day trip to Havana was fantastic!! Highly recommend as this city has so much culture and interesting things to see and do. It was our first trip to Cuba and over all we loved it and would go back again.

Great resort

We really enjoyed our time there except for a few unfortunate issues. The room, the staff, and all the pools were outstanding. The food , however is not why you go to Cuba. We took day trips to Varadero in their double decker buses for $5.00 all day and to Havana on a guided tour. On our way home the airline lost my travel companion luggage between Cuba and Toronto. I always bring my own milk and tea and mug. They lost my milk and broke my mug, but such is life. I cannot wait to go back.  [... read more] The people are really warm genuine folk. There was no good fishing around the resort either.

Beautiful resort!

The hotel was very beautiful and very well taken care of. I really enjoyed my stay and I would consider returning. The only issue I had was with housekeeping. They cleaned my room but it felt as if they only did the bare minimum.

Paradisus Varadero,Cuba

The resort grounds are beautiful with many royal palms, lots of flowering trees and plants and a large pool. We were very fortunate to have a room in a new section that just opened 8 months ago. Our room was very modern and reminded me of a Swedish look. The beach is one of the best in the area, very large, lots of sand and you are able to walk out a long distance over sand before it gets deep. I ate lots of pasta for lunch and supper! The rest of the resort is older and we met many couples who had multiple problems with their room, I would only recommend this hotel if asking for the family section which is new part.

Amazing as always!

This was our 4th stay at this resort. It has been our preferred resort from the first time we went 4 years ago. The food in our opinion is the best available in Cuba. The new family concierge section is beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and ready to make your stay excellent. Planning our next trip here for late fall.

Paradisus Varadero

Room---- I was lucky to have been put in the Family Concierge section which I understand is very new. The room was lovely,and well taken care of as well as the concierge service. On the other hand the rooms in the remaining of the resort were very dated with showers and water that often didn't work. My other family members were moved from this area. Entert [... read more]ainment---- The best evening entertainment of any place I have stayed. Beach entertainment every day at lunch time. Food---- I was not expecting good food and was not disappointed. Meat tended to be undercooked, and other things quite often were over cooked. The handling of food was questionable as serving utensils were. Not always available especially for the breads. One instance I did observe was serving tongs being dropped on the floor and when a guest passed them to a worker to be replaced she just used them to continue serving food. Food would be my biggest issue with this resort. Cleanliness----- For the most part things were well maintained but there were times when the pool area should have been swept and tables were very slow to be cleaned up. We did learn that there is only one time and speed and that was Cuban time. Bedding---- I was in a room with a king size bed that had a sheet that never fit it. There were no hand towels or face cloths and sometimes the bath towel was more like a bath mat. Staff----- I found them reserved but once they got to know you some of them were wonderful. For the most part everyone was helpful and did the best with what they had to work with. Did hear from another guest about money that was missing to which the hotel refused to do anything about. Would I Return------ Went mainly to see Havana and chose this resort for the beach and the pool. Probably will not go back to Cuba at all as there are too many other great places to go that are more modern in this time.All in all had a great vacation and from what I heard from others this resort is better than a lot of others. I would recommend it only after telling someone the things I learned. I don't know if it is because of not enough help but general maintenance and repairs were not carried out such as replacing missing toilet seats, broken railings, general things like that and some of this was in the new section.

Best beach in Varadero

This hotel has by far the best beach and grounds in Varadero, our rooms were newly refurbished from last year when we had said that the hotel looked very tired, now painted inside and out with new European type fixtures and showers , Glass from floor to ceiling ,all new porcelain tile, toilets etc. The resort looked almost brand new, Problem is that they were not able to fix the hot water problem, they tried but failed, we had to shower in warm water, They also need to address the cleaning of th [... read more]e grout at the bottom of the new tiles,already turning black within a year, it looks like the staff do not have the proper cleaning supplies to address this, The toilets are beautiful, but do not function well, constantly running water 24/7 and do not flush well! We saw this in 3 different rooms. Hotel staff by and large are great, especially the cleaning staff. The buffet is good, not quite up the standard of last year though, food pretty tasty for cuba, the resturants were good and fun to visit, The new Family area opened up and looks great, we also dined in their new buffet and although smaller, the food was probably slightly better!! A couple of comments on the beach, they set up a Royal and family lounge area on the right side of the beach and defined this by putting up wood structures under which the lounge chairs sit, for use only by Royal and Family, bad move rarely used, and looks not great.

Overrated resort

Beautiful hotel , and grounds , fairly good beach , service wasn't as good as other 5 star rated resorts in Cuba . No towels for beach and towels were not replaced in room after cleaning. Employees didn't smile too much . Made you wait in a line up for breakfast buffet . Very surprised and disappointed as usually paradisus resorts are amazing . The Melia las Antillas and the paradisus del Mar service was excellent ! Disappointed and would not return .

Great resort

Grounds were beautiful Staff very accommodating Rooms were kept clean Only issue was my husband cut his foot pretty bad and they didn't even have a bandage at the resort There first aid kit was very limited Overall great holiday

You'll want to stay longer!

The people were friendly, very helpful, shared happy stories when asked , but most of all everyone remembers your name when you interact with them. The new section was just as beautiful as the original section of the hotel and having access to all parts of the resort made daily choices fun and exciting. No matter what section you visited the employees new where you were staying and remembers your favourite things!! Hope to return to Paradisus once again - soon. Very Nice

This was my first time at a resort. It was very nice. I am a senior and I wanted to relax and be peaceful. I was. The beaches were so beautiful. My friend and I enjoyed the walks. We met some lovely people from all over the world. The staff was very friendly and helpful too.

Definitely will return !!!

This was a beautifully laid out and very well maintained resort. The size of resort was perfect, everything was in good proximity and easy to walk to. The A La Cart restaurants were very, very good and there was a 24 hour snack bar on site that we ate 70% of our meals at. The pool was beautiful and could see the beach and ocean from pretty much anywhere you stood, the landscape is awesome !! Staff was great, helpful and always offering you something. Definitely, will return.

Cuba vacation

trip to varadero great nice hotel newer sections better our room was older but clean and a very hard mattress . T he maids were very helpful and nice to talk to. this was a quiet resort and very relaxed atmosphere contrary to what we have heard the food was delicious with lots of variety,some people are never satisfied cuban beaches are wonderful and the people genuine and friendly. a great holiday and good value for the money.

Enjoyable Holiday Resort!

Just returned from a week at Paridisus Varadero Resort & had an awesome holiday. Beautiful white,pristine beach with lots of room to handle all the visitors staying at resort. It is a great facility even tho the suites are somewhat dated...the rooms are clean & wellkept. Impressed with the variety & taste of the food at buffet. The pizza & pasta station was delicious. The employees at this resort were amazing & very helpful. Overall it was a positive experience & will return.

Beautiful

Great service, food was good, fun entertainment and lobby area was a great place to hang out and relax. The pool and beach were beautiful and clean. Our room was worn and could use a facelift but the maid did the best she could.

Excellent Service!

Upon arrival we upgraded to the Family concierge as we wanted internet access in our rooms, we paid 50 pesos per night for the upgrade and it was well worth it. We got a butler Natalia that took care of all of our needs, from booking our restaurant reservations, exchanging our money, booking the spa etc, all our needs were met even if she had to walk the whole resort to find us. The entertainment team was also amazing, Eddie and Reynold were always involving us in activities, keeping us in the [... read more] loop of what was happening and where, and giving our quiet space when we needed. The food was excellent and the rooms were comfy and always very clean. Highly recommended.

Un endroit à absolument éviter !!!

L'endroit était bien situé sur la plage. Mes elements positifs s'arrêtent là. L'endroit était excécrable. C'était mon 5ième voyage à Cuba, et heureusement, car je retournerais jamais base sur l'expérience au Paradisus Varadero. La nourriture était moins que passable, les chambres étaient usées par le temps, le service, sauf qq exception, était nul à la limite condescendant. Je me déplacais en chaise roulante, et les membres du personnel était au courant, plusieurs fois, j'a [... read more]i appelé pour un transport, et j'ai laissé sonner plus de 20 coups et aucune réponse. Notre frigidaire n'était jamais rempli, même avec plusieurs rappels. Nous devions retourné régulièrement pour faire magnétiser notre carte de chambre car elle était défectueuse. Nous avons fait le voyage avec un couple d'amis, il n'avait aucun eau chaude dans leur chamber, de plus, ils se sont fait piques, par...nous ne savons pas encore quoi, mais avait le corps couvert de piqure. Nous avons dû aller se plaindre et à un moment monter le ton pour être entendu. Ils ont finalement eu droit à une relocalisation, mais après de nombreux retours au service à la clientele. Nous avons discuté avec plusieurs vacanciers et tous étaient unanime, personne ne retournera à cette endroit. Comme indiqué ci-dessus, j'ai été dans le passé à plusieur autres endroits à Cuba et j'ai adore la nourriture, le service impeccable et "friendly" des Cubains ainsi que l'endroit. Je vous recommande donc le Iberostar Auguna Azul...mais JAMAIS le Paradisus.

Beautiful resort

The hotel rooms are older and the beds are hard but it was clean . The staff were helpful and friendly. Beach was beautiful there was lots of lounging chairs so you didn't have to worry about not getting one. The food in the buffet was always good,lots to choose from. Always felt safe in Veradaro which is a big plus when choosing a resort.
