Beautiful & Low Key

We had an amazing time! Great beaches amazing locals and never ending fun! It is not an upscale resort but that made it more palatable. Everyone was so friendly from the workers to the guests! Ashleys cafe makes the best coffees and they quickly leaned out orders. If I had one complaint it would be that the beds were hard- but with so much to do and so much beauty how much time will you want to spend in bed?

Come for the sun, stay for the people

This was our first time down south, and the people at this resort were incredible! Every member of staff was amazingly friendly, and spoke to you as if you were family, not someone paying to be there.

Beautiful Resort! We had an awesome time!

This is our second time to Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca. We brought our teenage daughters with us, and everyone had an amazing time. The resort is beautiful with all of the white sand and coral, and the grounds are well-maintained. The staff are very helpful, and polite for the most part. PROS: - Beautiful property. Shout-out to Leonel Mendoza, who was an excellent guide!! We actually went out with Leonel twice. - There is just an awesome vibe at Club Amigo - laid back. - The A La Carte restaurants - the food and service was always amazing! - They gave us a special dinner because we were returning guests! CONS: - The food at the buffets. There should be more of a selection. It is essentially the same food every day. We stayed at a resort in Varadero last year and the food was great. It shouldn't really be that different here. - The loud music until 2am at the local beach bar. - The resort is quite large, so it can be a fair walk from point A to B. That being said, the staff was always driving around in golf carts and picked you up if you wanted a lift.

Club amigo

pure shite Ive been to cuba many times and have stayed at every resort, exept Amigo, now I know why all the shit reviews, this resort is the worst I have ever been to, coffee was garbahe, service was garbage, 7 things stolen from us on resort, stuff was horrid barring a few people, most sraff, didnt understand english, tipped 1000 cucs in one week and still shit service, I should have stayed in town 6 thumbs down

Amazing resort

This hotel is a little dated but the price is right . The friendly staff and beautiful area, more than make up for any deficiency. If you like to emurse yourself in the culture there is lots to do and see . Return rate for this hotel is 80 plus persent. This was our 15th time and plan to return next year DV .

Friends Forever

this hotel is going through a few upgrades right now, but otherwise the rooms are adequate..the food is better than some resorts..the pools are great as are the bartenders too. totally fabulous a la cartes ..but the best of all is how clean it is kept by the amazing staff ..everyone from customer relations to the maid to the waitress and on to the gardner are the friendliest ..most honest, caring people you would ever want to meet..but after you meet them.you just want to keep meeting them year [... read more] after year..totally awesome.

Great Beach and Pools

This was our first trip to Cuba and we knew not to have high expectations of the room. The room really wasn’t great but the beaches and pools made up for it and so did the staff. All very friendly. The buffets were okay, and we could always find something to eat. The a la carte restaurant we went to was a nice change from the buffet. If you aren’t picky about your room, this is a great hotel for the beach and pools.

Beautiful Resort

Lots of improvements. They are working hard to update everything. Food is very good. Could use some benches as there is a lot of walking. This would free up the golf carts more. Will certainly return.

Great first time visit

This was my first time going to Cuba. My boyfriend had previously been at this resort years ago so we were excited to go. When we booked we booked a standard room. I highly suggest you book nothing less of a bungalow because the standard rooms are NOT nice at all. Our room had 2 twin beds and we had no toilet seat in our bathroom. The room itself was super dungey looking. We upgraded to a bungalow and were very happy with the different it made. If you’re looking for a fridge in your room you should book a villa (they’re much nicer then the standard and bungalow). What you can do is book a standard room online and when you get to the resort you can ask to upgrade your room. It’s much cheaper to do this in cuba rather then online. You’ll spend $20 as opposed to $200. The customer service at the front desk was awful. The ladies working were very rude and were not helpful. When we told them about having no toilet seat they said they’ll have someone repair it in 2 days... As a female i need a toilet seat so I then asked for a room change. They were very rude and not people friendly. When we originally checked in we were told our room was not finished. But our room was done as we had a gentlemen call the maid and help us to our room. Besides the poor customer service the resort itself is beautiful!!! After switching to a bungalow room we had no issues.

Wonderful two weeks at Memories Caribe Beach Resort

We travelled to Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca Monday February 4 from Toronto. I had done a lot of research with help from this Facebook page – specifically with respect to the ‘no-see-ums’ and rooms (very happy with our Ocean side Villa). Our first couple of days, we were extremely disappointed with the lunch and dinner at the main buffet. Russian prison food is the only way we could describe it. Flavorless, cold and visually pure yuck. We were not happy. We had found Benny More’s [... read more] for lunch on day two and went every day at 8 a.m. for the rest of our Stay. Janet, Marie-Helen, Griesy and the rest of the ladies provided wonderful service and delicious food. The pool-side bar, we enjoyed hamburgers and fries and lovely beverages. Emilio (waiter) and Milaro (Chef) and Vegetation hosted us 4 times and always delicious and wonderful service. Valentines day dinner @ Benny More’s (thank you Romney) was fabulous and we loved the violin. We enjoyed lobster with shrimp at La Spada and lovely service from Yadia and Onelvis. We discovered the 2nd buffet near Brisas and it was a wonderful revelation – cooks cared, food was hot, cooked to order – thank you to Mompie, Elizabeth and Emilio (cook) who made us feel welcome. We had a lovely night tour on a horse drawn carriage, courtesy of Rui and his lovely mare. Went to the aboriginal village and enjoyed their presentation – had a tour of a village school, and a farm (thank you Victor and guide Janet) Room was clean and comfortable – beaches accessible and water lovely. Wished more pools would be open. We avoid poolside bars – but there was enough water available. We had pizza at Rico’s – delicious and fabulous service from Alberto. We have been to Cuba 3 times, love the people and we will likely return. Drawbacks? Did get some bug bites, however not as many as before, the Avon Skin so Soft made a huge difference. Too many smokers (including in a couple of restaurants), however not enough to make us not want to return. Two lovely weeks later we sadly left our lovely room.

Had a great time!

We had a great time at Club Amigo. The staff from servers to housekeeping and ground keepers were amazing. They made you feel so at home. Always a smile and a laugh. The beach was beautiful. And weather was great!

Amazing week

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The pool and beach areas are very clean. The cleaning staff cleaned the rooms daily and supplied whatever was needed. Met a lot of very nice people and had a great time.

Awesome

When I go back again. I wish to stay there. The people in the motel were absolutely beautiful, and helped as much as they could. The location of the pool to the location of the ocean was perfect. Can't ask for a better location.

Repeat guests

We had a great time at club amigo atlantico Guardalavaca We have been there numerous times and will continue to visit. Hands down the most beautiful beach we have ever seen. The rooms are clean ( and modern by Cuban standards ) the service is unbeatable. Not one complaint

Awful, so disappointing

Went for our 10 year wedding anniversary and had nothing but problems, the room door wouldn’t even shut, the bathroom faucet came off in our hands! Moved 3 times and then finally ended up next to the entertainment stage and it played TIL midnight! The staff was non existent , the buffet was repetitive even to the point of recycling lunch to dinner, Benny’s restaurant was a great place to eat there and the beach was awesome but it’s such a large resort with completely tired rooms that the w [... read more]alk to everything was rediculius. Some wait staff were above and beyond at the ala cartes, but they book up fast and some people didn’t even get theirs! And our wedding renewal was a complete loss! Such a disappointment and not at all what was pictured, and when we left our luggage in the luggage room the day we left our luggage was robbed and we lost items so please beware!

Fantastic Stay!

The staff at Club Amigo make you feel welcome and like long time friends from the moment you walk into the lobby. The resort is clean, the beaches amazing, bars and restaurants are good. Great choice

I love this resort.

Everything and Everyone is so helpful. The grounds were kept nice. Entertainment was great. Food is getting better. The beach is beautiful. We have been going for 15 years now and will go again. Have meant a lot of friends.

Had a good time!

Went with my husband and another couple. We had a bungalow room on arrival but did not have the best experience situated where we were, very close to the road and there wasn't an appropriate patio place. We went to the lobby the following morning and were given the opportunity to upgrade to adjoining rooms in the villa section, yes please!! It was totally worth it, we had ocean view rooms for very little $$. My friends did not have a toilet seat but we did. This resort has something for everyone, it's very spread out. There is a party pool close to the main hotel and a quieter pool in the villa section. (part of that pool was closed for repairs). The pool in the bungalow section looked nice, if we were in a different bungalow, we probably would have stayed there quite happily! We didn't have a problem with the food offerings, again, there is something for everyone. The buffet in the main restaurant was busy but the buffet in the bungalow area was perfect. El Benny was our preferred breakfast destination, we ate there every morning! The staff was friendly and gals at the front desk were helpful. Guest services provided a couple of perks which was very much appreciated. The grounds were well kept and the beaches are amazing. I would totally come back again, we enjoyed our holiday at Club Amigo.

Un resort où l'on se sent chez soi

J'ai aimé ce resort car l'ambiance est accueillante et familière. C'est propre, superbe plage et on y mange bien. Ce que je n'ai pas aimé...pas de frigo dans mon bungalow comme annoncé dans les publicités. À part celà...rien à redire. J'en ai profité pour aller chez le très gentil et professionnel dentiste Miguel Rodriquez et 2 pairs de lunettes prescrites à Holguín. Que demander de plus... J'y retournerai....ça c'est certain! One of the best resorts I have stayed.

I would take a cabin room next time. Ala cart restaurants are only booked on sundays. Guest arriving after this date will only have the buffet restaurants. Scuba is only offered on a Monday.
