Nice resort

It is a little outdated and definitely needs more work in the rooms but they are trying. The grounds are well kept but the beach could be raked a lot of cigarette butts and straws from people that just don't care. The buffet staff are so friendly and they go out of their way to help. I find thou that all the people that pretty well work there are so nice! I wish they would leave the buffet at the villa opened for all meals not just for breakfast because it can be a distance walking for lunch and [... read more] dinner from that area especially when you are disabled. They have a lot of activates which our Grandson really liked but as for the shows we didn't attend just worn out from the sun and the day. This is our 3rd trip here and it was good for the Grandkids but I might look for a smaller resort next time with a shorter drive to get there.

Brisas

every thing is very close stayed at the main building can be very loud with the entertainment if you are facing the pool area DJ one night was on until 11:45 way too loud villa area was much nicer wife has a horse so having access to riding right across the street was very convenient. few little things keep it from being a 4 star front desk did not mention about getting towels or a key for the safe other hotels in Cuba provide water in the fridge and free safe over all good value  [... read more]for the money but again not quite a 4 star also the airport in Holguin is terrible. we were actually rushed clearing baggage and customs to catch the plane customs and baggage are too close together- causes mass confusion

Amazing

It was everything we had expected. Grounds are well kept and workers are always busy. We enjoyed the a -la- cartes also. Food in the buffet was also good. Each night was a different theme. Check in went very quickly. We had requested an ocean view. We got a room on top floor (5th) with 2 nice size decks.

Great Escape

This was our third visit to Brisas Guardavalaca. We came back because of the atmosphere created by Cuban people and progressive improvements in service and facilities. We were not disappointed; all staff was very polite, always smiling, always ready to meet our needs, and always working hard to maintain the resort clean. Although already old, the resort was recently updated with modern bathrooms. It was a pleasure to take a shower in the evening after the whole day of activities that included te [... read more]nnis, horseback riding, beach volleyball, boating, snorkeling etc. These were our favorite things to do, however, you could spend the whole day on a beautiful beach (finding a beach chair was a challenge and we did not like this part). The beach was cleaned every night; plastic cups and cigarette butts were unfortunately often left in the sand by many tourists. We liked the food; there were lots of choices but we have favoured fish, vegetables and fruits. Overall, nice, warm and relaxing break from winter.

Great resort!

We really love this hotel. We stayed for 7 days. The beach was very nice, entertainment, and rooms were very clean. There was a lot fo things to do on the resort, we went sailing, swimming, snorkeling, and paddle boat. Friendly staff and great food!

Something for everyone

This was a our 4th trip to Brisas Guardalavaca. We are always impressed with the hard working staff maintaining the resort. There have been more impressive renovations and improvements since our last stay two years ago. This is a favourite hotel for Canadians, with people returning many, many times. There are [... read more] no exclusive/off-limits areas, all areas are open to all guests regardless of booking. Visit the Games Room staff in the hotel side just before a scheduled activity to make sure they know you want to do it (target shooting, archery, etc) as they will then pull out the equipment and head off to the particular area with you. We booked the VIP option and loved using the two bathrobes in the room. Saved on towel usage!

Better every year.

This was our third visit to Brisas, Guardalavaca, Cuba and we wanted to celebrate our 53 wedding anniversary. Tammy Beamish our representative was kind enough to arrange wheelchairs for us at both airports, Toronto and Frank Pais, Cuba. The room was on the second floor facing the ocean, had a walk-in shower which made it easy for my wife who was recovering from having a knee replaced to get in and out of. There was a shortage of fresh fruit as they had had three consecutive months of rain which destroyed the crop. The food was the usual fare at these hotels, we never went hungry! We ate breakfast and lunch at the restaurant facing the beach and was served very efficiently by two waitresses, Yasmin and Machy. We had one meal at the Italian al a carte.which was very good, we couldn't celebrate our anniversary at the Buccanero as I went down with the flu then my wife caught it. This hotel is very good and the staff are extremely good taking care of you! God willing we will be back next year.

Varied, Interesting Place

We stayed in the Villas which were a distance from the constant booming of the entertainment of the pool. That's for the young folks. It was a wonderful place. Large grounds, well manicured and beautifully appointed. The menu leaves something to be desired and it was plentiful but needs tweaking. Overall, something for everyone.

Nice Resort for an older facility.

The resort was clean and well kept and the staff were friendly. The grounds received constant attention and the rooms, although in need of some maintenance, were kept clean and tidy. The dining facilities were clean and well serviced and the food was good by Cuban standards. A la carte restaurants were easy to reserve and the food was of a high standard. The beach was clean with white sand and some coral outcrops and the sea was clear and warm. Not much to see in the immediate vicinity outside the resort but trips are available to Holguin (1 hour) or Guadalavaca to see local life.

Not our finest trip to Brisas.

We have just returned from a one week stay. (Feb 9 - Feb 16). The hotel is booked pretty much to capacity at this time of year. Since we are returning guests, (12x) we get a villa upgrade. We always request the same villa. This time however, someone else had our regular room booked for a month long stay. So we were given a room a couple doors down. No problem!.. right? Same view, same layout. However.. this room is tired. The a/c barely worked, the ceiling was leaking water due to an overworke [... read more]d a/c unit, and eventually collapsed in the middle of the night, spilling gallons of water all over our things. The staff is great, they tried all week to get things working right. To no avail. On the 5th day they offered another room, but what's the point. We're leaving in 2 days. The bed was broken, had a large hollow spot in the spring mattress. Several other little nit-picky things. Things I could easily tolerate from Club Amigo next door. But when you pay a premium price for a place like Brisas?.. thanks mostly to the typically amazing staff, and resort amenities, for helping to make the most of this trip. Would I go back again? Probably.. but not at this time of year. Far too busy! The airport wait is frustratingly unbelievable! There's a waiting line for everything! Even the buffet! Store item availability is low. Still though.. a great resort. Needs a little bit of upgrading.

Loved this resort!

I absolutely loved this resort. The food was great, most staff were friendly and it was a good mixture of age groups. Everything was within walking distance and beach was beautiful. My only two downfalls were that the mattress was so uncomfortable and the staff at the front counter definitely need a better personality. They were not very friendly and when asked a question you recieved one word answers and left to figure it out.

Lovely resort

We stayed at the Brisas in Feb 2018, 4 Adults and 2 kids. This would have been our second time at Brisas Check In: We checked in at the Villa lobby. 3 couples in front of us and it took over an hour to get checked in, not sure what the hold up was. Once it was our turn the lady was very nice and accommodating. She ensured that we got ground level for the Kids and close to Grandma and Grandpa's room. Rooms: We stayed in the Villa, room 1707. Two queen size beds which were pretty comfortable [... read more] and a crib was provided for the Baby. Pillows were horrible and we were short one however, when we called guest services they got our maid to deliver one the next day. Our maid did a great job of keeping our room clean and was very friendly. It did take a complaint to guest services in order for us to get a new fridge since the first one we had did not work. Meals: The FOOD WAS AMAZING and MUCH BETTER THEN LAST YEAR!!!! However, the Server's were not as friendly and helpful. (They did have some students helping out, they were not the problem they were fantastic) There were many times that we had to get our own fork or napkins. I was very disappointed by this. The restaurant by the Villa, we eat breakfast here every morning, the tables were never cleaned and our coffee was never top up unless asked. Loved the stir fry station, pasta, and the grill Pool\Accomidations: Pools are beautiful and very clean. Great staff around the pool areas and very helpful and friendly. LOVES THE WATER SHOW A MUST SEE. Thank you Brisas had a great vacation!

A Great Friendly Resort.

Grounds are kept up immaculately, some of the rooms are older , but all really clean and they keep working on upgrades constantly. I have ALOT of food allergies and still find good food to eat. This time there was a shortage of fruit and veggies that were wiped out by tropical storm and potatoes had rot I am sure from all the rain they have had this year. Beach is gorgeous and pools are really clean. All the staff except maybe one or two, I would say are SOOOOO friendly and caring. They go out of their way, to make you happy , and at home. Entertainment from what I saw was good, but really I like the older animation teams they used to have from back in the day. They mingled with all the people around the resort and talked to you all the time. Not just when there were scheduled things going on. Our one server Jareesta from the Cuban restaurant, offered to bring me vegetables and sweet potatoes out of her garden, as she grew things they didn't have on the resort , that she knew I could eat. The management , and PR make sure things are all set up for me, and always upgrade me to a great room for my mobility needs.

No complaints about resort and staff

The staff , grounds and facilities are Great as per usual . I do have a few complaints but they are not directed at Trip central or the Brisas . I did not purchase the VIP package but friends of ours did . You really need to deter any travelers from purchasing such a package for CUBA 4 beer in the fridge and 2 robes is not worth the 100$ a person . I have another issue that really put a damper on our trip WE have been to the Brisas 9 times Never have we had anything get stolen from our deck .  [... read more]Yes on the bottom floor regardless We have stayed on the bottom floor in the past . On day 2 our beach towels were stolen from our deck . I do not blame the staff or Cuban people . It is our very own tourist as I heard a lot of grumbling about others stealing other tourists towels . Shame on them !!!! We paid the money as taking others peoples towels and ruining their vacations as ours was ruined was not the right thing to do .I just want to put it out there people Let's live up to our name that Canadians are good people .

Honeymoon

I have been to this hotel about 4 times and I love it there. But this time it was more special to me cause I was there on my honeymoon with my husband. And he loved there big time plus it was his very first time to a tropical island. He would go there again and to this hotel too. The service and the food was amazing.. the beach is so beautiful. Place to be

I travel with my husband and kids a lot of different parts of Cuba almost all tourist places. And I always return to this place. I Just count: 9(nine) times it says by itself. Amazing places because of the people and nature which much different from other parts of Cuba and price usually in low season between 600 to 700$. But this time I pay imagine 509$ for triple occupation. For that price I can't even feet in any accommodation in Canada for weekend. Resort is very compact and clean if you sta [... read more]y in main building you will be always in the meddle of everything you need.If you stay in villas it will be 2 min walk and you have more quiet place. And one precious addition: in all Cuban resort you are usually isolated from everything, but here you will enjoy interactions for many people(locals and foreigners) and have 1km+ beton boardwalk. Do not relay on bad review which are not much just came and see. Highly recommended.

Comfortable resort

This was the 4th time we visited. It is a comfortable resort, attending by nice people. We did not participate in evening entertainment, so we cannot comment on that. The rooms are nice but need some improvement ( the fridge did not work..)The beach lounges were always available.
