A very bright, friendly and welcoming resort

I enjoyed my stay here very much; all staff members were very friendly and helpful and made you feel welcomed & our housekeeping lady was an absolute doll (& all airline staff were wonderful too); the resort was very lovely and the grounds were well kept & the pool & beach was a great place to relax; the food was good but because there was such a huge selection I found it a little overwhelming and the line-ups long & slow but other than that I had a great time & hopefully will be able to visit  [... read more]again & Thank you

Good resort

We visited the resort last year, liked it, came again, and just returned home. Beautiful beaches and Cuban people like we are used to seeing. The hotel was never five stars, but it is good. Food has deteriorated in diversity and quality from last year. Was the hotel worth the price? I cannot tell. I guess the best benefit you get by paying more is the absence of annoying loud drunk Canadian and sometimes Cuban tourists who do not go there because it is expensive.

Planning return visit!

I have nothing negative to say about this location, resort and the staff! Beginning to end was pure bliss! Easy check in, rooms clean and comfortable, always hot water for showers and plenty of water pressure. Loved the grounds, the beach, the pool area! The Boulevard was a fun little strip! Enjoyed the various a la carte restaurants for evening meals! Loved the lobby area and music in the evenings. Will be returning February 2021!

Loved it all!!!!! Best in Cuba !

This large resort does not have a feel of a large resort, but all the amenities were great for our entire family! Our two teenagers were never bored (Which gives this place 5 stars alone!!!) We loved going to the beach or the pool and never going without a beach chair, there were always tons. The snorkeling at the beach was amazing. The rooms were spacious and very clean. All the washrooms were clean and always supplied. the drinks were AWESOME!!! such variety and quality compare to other Cuban resorts we have been to. Quite the Reverse expectations

We challenged our travel consultant based on reviews we read before leaving some reviews spoke about food shortages and various negative aspects of the resort. We had never been to this resort or Holguin however been to Varadero and other Cuba resorts. There were 5 of us including a 5 year old. here are the things that impressed us most: 1. The food was good and no obvious shortages. 4. The beach is the best we have experienced in the Caribbean. Bonus Bonus. 5. I always find myself complaining about something or the other, I had nothing to really complain about except for the paying for WIFI and the birds that frequent the restaurants. There is an official Bird person that claps the birds away. in summary, we will definitely return to this resort as many others we met were on there 11th and 17th times there.

Nice resort

The grounds were very well kept and everything was easy to find .. the pool and beach had lots of lounge chairs which was very nice to see usually this has been a problem at previous resorts but not this one ..the front desk could have used a few more people when checking in and out as they didn’t seem to move very fast but other then that it was a great trip .

Mixed feelings overall

Beautiful beach and pools. Rooms are a bit dated and in need of some basic repairs. Public areas were clean and the grounds were well maintained. Food and drinks were disappointing. There was a serious lack of fresh fruits and vegetables. I think this hotel is a reflection of life in Cuba overall. Staff were hard working and friendly. Enjoyed the omelettes at breakfast, the Caribbean restaurant and the crepes flambé. Decent snorkeling off resort. Loved the espressos and cappuccinos.

Best resort in cuba

Have been to cuba many times over the last 30 years for some reason have not been here before big mistake was the best resort for food entertainment clean safe fun entertainment and thanks to my new country band friends who played from kingston ontario

Sun, sand & snorkeling

The hotel was adequate but had a broken faucet that was promptly attended to, but not repaired. I attribute this to a lack of materials, and the staff did all they could do. This was evident in other supplies, most notably the food, which was proudly served but low on quality and variety. The staff were very patient and friendly despite incredible rudeness from many of the guests. Playa Presquero

The resort was beautiful the cleanest resort we've ever been to and the people are just beyond pleasant and the food was good . Yes we will be returning back to that resort at some point . The entertainment was good but is always way too loud . The beach was clean and beautiful .

8th time there, but disappointed

This was our 8th time at Playa Pesquero. I have to say the staff make this place, they are the best! However this was the first time the lack of variety of food was disappointing. Everyone knows you dont go to Cuba for the food but there was very little this time. That being said when we upgraded to the 18+ premium side , a whole other story. There were at least 5 flights leaving out of that tiny airport. We waited 2.5hrs to even get checked in which of course delayed the flight by at least an hour. The airport staff were very very slow and not helpful at all. In fact if I wanted toilet paper I had to pay for it! Honestly we love Cuba or we wouldn't keep going back but we dont think we will be going back anytime soon, unfortunately.

Perfect vacation

We have visited Playa Pesquero many times over the past 13 years. The pools and ocean are spectacular. The restaurants and food selections are plentiful. The staff are truly the best. Be sure to take a tour to see how the locals live.

Great Holiday

Hotel was fantastic, wonderful staff, food was good especially good Gondola and Romantico al-a carts. Beach was good for snorkeling. Had issues getting beach locations for shade as beach is shared with many hotels. Best to be early riser to save loungers. Also note CUC money best to change before leaving to airport as once you go through only American and Canadian money used. Premium at Playa Pesquero

Our group of 8 stayed at Playa Pesquero Premium Jan 29-Feb 8, 2020. 4 of us were returning guests, having been there 4 years ago (on the non-Premium side) We remembered the beautiful beach, assortment of activities, and great coffee. This was my 7th time in Cuba, 4th time in Holguin. We were greeted at the main entrance and were immediately shuttled the Premium side. No waiting, easy check in. Met by our by butler(s) who took us to our rooms which had everything we could have asked for plus a j [... read more]acuzzi tub, indoor glass enclosed shower and beautiful outdoor shower. Highlights: No need to rush for chairs in the sun/shade on the beach. You have reserved seating, with butler service, on the best part of the beach. This in itself is worth the extra dollars, in my opinion The "Snack" bar serves 3 courses for lunch. The food is great. Premium alcohol. Good scotch, bourbon, red and white wines. Nice mixed drinks at the snack bar,beautifully presented My friends and I had Zumba classes arranged for us in the gym. Lianet (sp) was talented and we had a lot of fun The pool never had more than 16 guests ( including our party of 8) We ate dinner in 3 specialty restaurants on the "main" side". Just had to mention our choices to the butler and seating was arranged. Romatico was fine, the other restaurants paled in comparison to the selection and food in the "Premium" dining area We travelled to the "main side" for a buffet lunch one day and quickly returned to our side after waiting in line and experiencing the noise and frenetic activity there. Called our shuttle and booked it back to our dining area for great service, good food, peace and quiet The only thing I missed was dancing after dinner. When the show on the "main side" ends around 10 pm, most of the activities end. Playa Pesquero hotel/resort is good. It offers a comprehensive package for a good price. Nice clean resort

The hotel is very clean and staff are very friendly. The beach is very well kept and tidy. A very large resort with plenty of opportunity to walk off your buffet breakfast lunch or dinner. Food is plentiful so you won't go hungry. A la carte restaurants is the way to go. The buffet food is ok but it's what you would expect for a large resort. A very safe area to walk to the local market or take a horse and buggy ride for 5 CuC.

Awesome resort!

We spent 10 amazing days at the beautiful Playa Pesquero resort. It’s a huge family friendly place with amazing pools and perfect beach. If anyone gets a chance to go I would recommend booking an Extravaganza private lobster dinner on the beach. Absolutely breathtaking!

Another great vacation

This our fourth trip. The resort was wonderful. It was clean and the staff is amazing. The beach was beautiful and the pool was also super. The coffee bar and ice cream parlour were my favourite places to go. There was a gas embargo and a lot of food was unable to get to the resort. This meant that many of the meals were repeated and some of the seafood was not available. This affected all of the resorts not just playa and they did the best they could under difficult circumstances. Do [... read more]n't judge the food during the embargo it is what it is. We met many new friends both from Cuba and from around the world and I hope you will give this resort a go. The only disappointment was the diving. The reef is dying and there is so much dead coral, it was very sad. We only have ourselves to blame for the state of our reefs.

Very clean and big resort

We enjoyed it, very clean, staff is very nice, a little crowded, but overall good food, specially in the A la carte Restaurant. Beach is nice, just got to be careful with some corals, and go early to get your chairs. Rooms and bathrooms all over the site are super neat!

Resort is very pretty

I think Cuba is possibly having a hard time acquiring a variety of foods. Beef and pork dishes were tough to eat. Papaya, bananas and guava were good but other fruit was mostly canned. A little disappointing.

Its a nice spot . wouldnt go any where else

the tennis was excellent there however they could spend a little to repair and maintain the courts so all. the facilities and all the other sports equipment can be used that they have at the same time....
