Baha'I Principe Coba

Resort was very nice.Service was good.Entertainment by the pool was very enjoyable.The staff were very friendly.Especially the workers who drove the shuttles.The entertainment in the evening was very good.Adding a Sports Bar to the resort was a great place to spend time in the evening.Games and watching sports.

Still a good reort

I have stayed at the COBA numerous times and over the years my honest review remains pretty much consistent. We stayed at the COBA from November 22-29, arrived with Air Canada. When you travel with that airline you have a special check in location. The reception staff were very polite and efficient. We were offered a beverage while we completed the check-in paperwork. The COBA itself is one of four complexes and you can walk the complex. There are trolleys to take you to the other complexes such as Tulum, Akumal, Sian Ka, which make up the Grand Bahia Principe. The rooms are typical for a resort. In the room there was a flat screen TV as well as a coffee maker, an iron & ironing board and a fridge that was stocked every day, with 2 beers, 2 large bottles of water, and various soft drinks. The daily maid service was good. The COBA has completed a few upgrades. Where previously they would set up food tables daily in front of the main pool bar, they now installed a permanent food station. In the Pisces pool restaurant they now have a better variety of foods and added a pasta station where the cook makes your pasta dish on demand. They installed a permanent bar and stage in the outdoor space to listen to live music at night and also expanded the seating capacity. The main buffet restaurant is very typical of all-inclusive resorts. The COBA does a decent job appealing to an eclectic clientele with various tastes, even the pickiest eater should be able to find something to eat. If you can’t find anything to eat, then you shouldn’t be travelling and should stay home. Depending on your timing, if you happened to be at one of the food stations when the food trays are being refilled, you will get hot food. Otherwise, the food quickly loses it heat sitting in the trays. There are no food warming lamps in the stations to maintain the heat. The food offering can seem repetitive, so if I can make a suggestion, is that you vary your focus on your food selections. For example, select chicken, one day, meats the other etc., so you don’t get tired of eating the same thing every day. The a la carts book up quickly so I strongly suggest that you make the reservations after you have checked in, as you might not get the restaurant or time you want. The main pool is where you have the animation team activities and on certain days live music. The animation team is very friendly and outgoing, however, in my opinion the team focused heavily on Yoga, dancing and stretching classes. I had to remind them not to neglect the popular, high participation rate of all age’s activities like Bocce, Horseshoe and others. In closing, as I mentioned in my previous reviews, even though it is an all-inclusive package, the restaurants, bar and cleaning staff work very hard. A few dollars to us will not break you, however, it will be very appreciated by them as my understanding their pay isn’t very much.

Great time!

My family Recently stayed at Bahia Principe Coba from nov 22-dec 1st! We had a fantastic trip! The hotel was beautiful and huge. We enjoyed having the option to go to the other attached resort “Tulum” we found that they had a fun entertainment team during the day at the main pool and were conveniently close to beach access. Coba on the other hand had great entertainment in the evenings and we really enjoyed sitting outside listening to different performances and the new sports bar was defini [... read more]tely a highlight! Coba is definitely a family friendly resort! I didn’t take my children this trip but they would have had a blast with the water slides and the shows they had specifically for kids not to mention the buffet! Next time I’d bring them! The food was all around decent and they had many options to choose from! The service was for the most part good our server Jose at breakfast was awesome! So it was nice being greeted by him every morning :) I think they could use more staff in the restaurants/buffets, as well as poolbar tenders at times they were so swamped! All in all we had a wonderful time and would go back :)

Great resort

The resort was big but immaculate. The food was fresh everyday and staff were terrific. There was always activities to keep us busy. The only negative was the long drive from the airport to the resort

Fourth Trip and as pleased as before.

Our expectations were met in all aspects. The friendly faces of the Bell Boys, the waiters, and waitresses were prompt to meet our needs. The entertainment was great. The food was very substantial, plentiful. hot, and prepared well. The drinks were mixed well and enjoyed. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The shower water sometimes not as hot as we like at home and sometimes hotter. This is not a complaint as a cool shower in the afternoon felt great. The time share reps didn't hassle us like at other resorts.They were kind to accept our not interested reply when we were approached by them.

Overall great experience

My girlfriend and I stayed at this resort for 10 days in November of 2019. This was a great overall experience. Food was amazing, Ala Carts were delicious, rooms were very clean and the resort transportation was efficient and quick. A little rocky beach however it is not a deal breaker. DO NOT go to the Matis Jewelry "Tour" aka pushy sales pitch. Cannot believe the RESORT suggested we go to this place. They have to be paying the resorts nearby the bring unsuspecting victims here. If you want to go to Playa Del Carmen please save yourself the time and take the $3 USD bus rides along the highway.

Relaxing trip

Loved the resort, the staff - especially Carlos and Omar. Lots to do. Only thing I think needs improvement is the night time entertainment. I would definitely go back to this resort again and felt very safe.

Relaxing holiday

I travelled with my adult daughter and we had a great holiday. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The employees were very friendly and helpful. My daughter found the bed too hard and they immediately brought us a pillowtop for the mattress which helped a lot. Food and drinks were great. We found a quiet area at the beach where we spent most of our time. The resort is very big so you have to allow yourself extra time to get to any of the scheduled activities. A vacation for anyone & everyone!

This resort is Amazing to say the least! Our family had a wonderful stay. We did as much to as little as we wanted. Staff were great and helpful. Resort is big enough that there isn’t a problem finding seats or any line ups. Beaches are gorgeous and relaxing! If you need to get away and relax totally recommend it!

Very good resort for family with kids

The resort was wonderful with very helpful staff for myself. I booked with trip central through air Canada vacations. Eve the AC rep was very helpful to get a wheelchair ready for me at the different airports. And Juan the conseairage made sure i was on first floor near everything. As for the rest of the wedding party that booked separately. Flew AC and booked through the hotel it was a feasco with 2 little girls. Beach had large rocks in water that sometimes toes stubbed. Great Family Vacation

This was our 9th vacation to a Grand Bahia resort. We love them! However this trip was not among my favorite. While nothing happened to make the experience bad we just noticed that on the weekend when the locals were let into the resort that our service fell short. I had not knowingly experienced them being let on the resort before and this time it was obvious that they were there. Once the weekend was over our experience was up to par again! The resort itself was beautiful as always and well kept. The bed was a bit too hard for my liking but to each their own I suppose. The food was not bad, some days it was cold when eating in the buffet. The room was always tidy and the staff were wonderful. Evening entertainment was great, the Circus Show is awesome. All in all, I love Grand Bahia Principe resorts and although it was not my favorite trip this time, I will return!!!

Amazing resort! It is our home away from home

Amazing staff, We were taken care by the best staff "Angel" he was providing everything we needed.As well as the food was amazing I'm actually missing my morning omelette at the buffet LOL. We will definitely come back for this resort.

Good experience

The overall resort area was amazing, with a lot of space, nice pools and beach area. the buffet and specialty restaurants were also good. However, i did feel that customer service could be improved. For instance the check-in process was horrible by the time we arrived a lot of people were checking in and out, so the hotel staff was overwhelmed and didn’t know how to handle large number of customers. Also, the first room we were assigned the AC, phone and ceiling fan were not working, so it  [... read more]took 4 hrs for the hotel staff to assign us a new room. Also, not having AC or ceiling fan working at the reception area makes it very uncomfortable to wait in a queue. when i asked the reception staff they mention the ceiling fan had been out of service for a few months. The overall stay was good, but we have received better customer service in other resorts.

HUGE RESORT

This was a family vacation, very clean and kid friendly resort... 4 Hotels, have to use golf carts to get around, the carts shuttle you around they have designated stops and places that they go, not much wait, they ran very frequently. The fact that we were able to use the facilities at most of the other 3 Hotels was great, ample pool chaise, pool areas and snack bars, loads of restaurants to choose from, our favorite alacarte was at the Gourmet Restaurant, we were there to celebrate a 50th bir [... read more]thday, there was 17 people in our party including 6 children, with the help of Vanessa from public relations we were offered a private room to host our celebration, the staff was exceptional with the service to ensure a memorable experience for us and it was indeed, the Manshua Alacarte was also another of our favourites, Gladys our Maître d was amazing.The buffet always had a variety to choose from. The evening entertainment at the Lobby and at the patio was immensely enjoyed. The only downside, we wish more of the staff was able to communicate better, finding amenities was not easy. Overral it was a great stay.

A must stay

Food was amazing, staff was friendly and very professional. Resort is gorgeous and equipped with lots of amenities that is very accommodating! Went with a group of individuals which consisted of family and friends and we all enjoyed ourselves. The kids loved it and did not want to leave. Looking forward to a next time!

We liked it BUT...

We did like the territory, it's taken care of ans maintenance people were constantly working on it. The food was good! BUT! The rooms are extremely moldy. I'm talking not about humidity, it's different. They are moldy and smelly. You have a feeling you are in a cave. And you inhale that... So we brought it up to the management and they moved us to Luxury Bahia Principle Akumal. It was very nice of them to upgrade us. But same issue at another room. Less moldy and smelly, but still th [... read more]e same problem : all rooms need a good repair! The service was not bad. Sometimes we were ignored at the restaurant... Just staying in the middle with a 2year old and all tables been dirty. Sometimes we were served fast and in a nice manner! In general it was not bad, but definitely not 5* hotel and definitely not Luxury :)

Truly Great stay!

Just returned from an 8 day stay at beautiful Grand Bahia Coba. Excellent and very courteous service. The à la cartes were well setup with very tasteful menus. Accommodations and amenities were also amazing. Great bang for the buck, take the time to check it out and simply enjoy it.

Great resort.

Nice and big resort. Very nice for walking around. Quiet place. Only thing that I did not like was the reminder call received by west jet for the meeting to confirm return transfer back home was too early

Good but not great

The resort is good, i love the lobby are so pretty. The food is good, stuff is good, why is not great? Our room had ants 🐜 tiny ants 🐜 that you never know if they are going into your ears 👂 while sleeping (creepy), they were everywhere in the room even in bed. The AC don’t work in any part of the hotel, how silly this is? When they were on, it was set at 30 degrees, like omg are you guys crazy or what?
