Amazing resort!!!!

Amazing Staff!! They are so friendly and take care of your every need++++. Amazing food! Beach is unreal and very well kept. Drinks and entertainment were awesome! Pool was very nice! Book excursions .... Cool running was a highlight! I will go back!!!!

Best resort ever!!

Amazing food, service, entertainment and beach! Enjoyed my stay very much and will return, all though I found resort big and our room was far from beach. Next stay I will ask for a room closer to main lobby.

My riu vacation!!

The resort was big and beautiful and it had so much to do and so spacious!! The beach was amazing clean clear and beautiful!! The rooms were very nice and clean the deck had a beautiful garden view!! The staff could have been much more friendly but for the most part the resort was great!!

Awesome Vacation and Wedding

The resort was beautiful, friendly and a great spot to host a wedding. Details were all taken care of profesionally and timely. Only a couple of things that I didn't like ...the pool was not all that clean and the mosquitos were plentiful. Would recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing vacation with great service and wonderful location.

Excellent resort.

Rooms, common areas, public washrooms, bars,grounds & restaurants very clean. Pool & beach area could be cleaner, maybe more trash cans on the beach would help. Staff were all friendly & very helpful in all matters. Had a fantastic vacation.

Simply amazing!!

This is a great resort....our vacation was amazing from start to finish!!!! The resort is so close to the best excursions and the staff was so friendly and there to please....you wont be dissapointed choosing this resort!!! The beach is long and beautiful!!! Ive stayed at a Sandals in Jamaica and Riu was much better in my opinion!!!!

Ok

We have stayed at the RIU in different locations in the past have have found them to be exceptional, This is the reason why we booked with them again when we decided to go back to Jamaica. I have to say this hotel did not live up to their standards.

Amazing!

The resort was great! Staff were friendly, accommodating and hard working, building and grounds very well kept, and the food amazing! The entertainment staff kept guest well occupied during the day and completely entertained at night with show time!

Nice but not a 5 star

This is an older hotel , but well kept. I personal don't have any complaints with the exception of external noise which came from off property. The room are neat , but dated and house keeping was regular. Premium Liquor was only found at the deluxe pool bar which I found strange and you needed to ask for it. Staff were friendly and polite .Nice beach, unfortunately we did not have the greatest weather , 1 day of sunshine out of 5, Feb 18-23, One more thing, the transportation from the airport to [... read more] the resort needs to be improved upon, 2.5 hour travel with a 1 hour wait at the airport once we arrived. Only 1.5 hour travel from resort to airport ?

Wonderful resort

The room we had was large and comfortable. The balcony was large with seating to enjoy the view. Everywhere was clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.) very clean rooms. and the grounds well manicured. Great food.and great buffet. fantastic beach party.

Good Family Vacation

Our second visit here. Seems like new management from two years ago judging from the subtle changes. Appreciated the absence of bead salesmen walking in the water or the jet ski pushers floating at the edge of the swimming area. The pool was unheated and colder then the ocean so of no use to us on the windy overcast days. Bit of a fail there although we prefer the beach when hot and sunny We had two rooms facing each other and liked to prop the doors open when in our rooms so the kids could come [... read more] and see us at will. The security guards gave us a hard time about this. I thanked them the first couple times they came by but it quickly became annoying.

Amazing Resort

I loved this resort! The grounds were so beautifully groomed and clean, the staff are "top notch", the food was excellent especially the Main Buffet, the beach was so clean and inviting, the room was spacious and clean, the entertainment was so much fun. Cool Runnings tour was amazing! Next time I will try swimming with the Dolphins.

Fun in the sun

The hotel was very clean, the people were friendly and hard working. Entertainment was great. Food was fabulous!! The grounds were kept beautifully. No problem getting chairs at the beach. No complaints.

Great staff, great food, good rooms

One week stay was wonderful. Food was excellent at all meals. The resort is very big and kept very clean. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful with any needs. We attended a wedding and were with quite a big group. A few people did say beds were uncomfortable, mine was fine. If funds are not an issue it may be smart to upgrade room as basic one is just that. Overall was a great trip and would definitely recommend to friends.

Very enjoyable stay

Very attractive and airy resort. Loved being so close to the sea. The staff in all parts of the resort were friendly and professional. If anything, I would improve the comfort of the furniture in the central lobby.

Always a winner!

A beautiful (albeit a little dated), resort with clean beaches and turquoise water. The staff at this resort work hard to get to know each and every guest and make them feel welcome. Rooms were moderately clean, but improvements could be made. Kids Club is lacking one important thing - other kids. My 3 year old and 1 year old wanted to play there daily but there were never any other kids there. Front desk could do a better job of letting their guests know that the kids club exists. Great selecti [... read more]on of food at the buffet. Jerk chicken/rice and peas on the beach is a winner! Disappointed that the Junior Suites area has now been made adults only. The pool there is quite exceptional and was always a lot quieter. Disappointed that wifi in main lobby is only free for 90 concurrent minutes a day now. Third visit to this resort and celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary (we were married there in 2010), and my 34th birthday and the front desk/management did not do anything to recognize this. My husband informed them at check-in and at another point and despite their promise to recognize nothing was done.

Best Holiday ever

This is an amazing resort. We stayed in the adult only section with a small room upgrade. The room itself was superior. Maid service and cleanliness were perfect. The food at this resort is also above average. The amenities, beach, and services were also excellent. We used Sunwing. Its local rep, Sandra, was very professional and her recommendations for excursions were right on. We had a great time. By way of criticisms, we would only say that the evening shows were very amateurish (if you reall [... read more]y care), the sound systems were blurred (even with p.a. systems it seems that the locals felt compelled to shout all the time), and the front desk was always short on cash to change your bills. Bring small bills. The music is almost totally Bob Marley all the time (as this parish is where he was born). Staff were amazing and friendly. No doubt we will be going back. Suggest that if you are a sun worshipper, you plan to start at 8 am. Sun is hot and bright in the morning. By about 4 pm it is usually gone (in January) behind banks of clouds. This was a daily pattern.

This is a 3.5* - terrible service, roaches, dirty.

This is a 3.5 star resort at the most. Terrible service, terrible food, dirty, roaches, ants in bathroom, old resort that needs Lot of repairs, most of the beach chairs are broken-- for more details see my review on trip advisor (Paula Owens) I go into a lot of detail in this review.

Incredible Vacation

We stayed in the deluxe wing from December 27 2014 to January 3 2015. We travelled as a family with our daughter and son in law and our son and future daughter in law. From the moment we stepped on to the property until our departure we had a wonderful vacation. Our check in was superb...very fast, professional and extremely friendly and welcoming. Our rooms were what we expected, clean and comfortable. We had booked three ocean front rooms and we got what we asked for. I would request rooms on  [... read more]the second or third floor another time, as we were on the fourth floor. Our room had a great view, but the other two had the cement railing and a smaller balcony, but it was really no big deal. The food was amazing. Always a lot of choices in the buffet. The breakfast buffet was our favourite, several choices of yogurt, eggs, omelet stations, breads etc. We had and have read a few negative reviews regarding the food...personally, we never had an issue. I am always amazed that some people find the smallest things to complain about. The new year's eve buffet was impressive...from the shrimp tree to the ice sculptures, the staff went above and beyond. The grounds and the resort itself was beautiful and the gardeners, maids, etc., work tirelessly to keep it this way. Now for the pool bar staff....Tyrone is a gem. Always friendly, always upbeat and always there with a big smile with a new drink for you to try. We never found they asked for tips...he just did his job, and if given one, huge thanks, but not necessary. We found the beach and ocean to be very clean. We walked the beach several times a day, down past the public area and on to the little vendor at the end of the beach. Great deals by him. Tasmine, with Nexus, arranged a golf day for my husband and son in law...called over to the golf course office to find out conditions for the day, made sure they got a good deal, right down to the taxi ride. This was our third time visiting Jamaica, our family's first. We have stayed at the Riu Montego Bay and a different resort. We loved the Riu Montego Bay, but we loved the grandeur of the one in Ocho Rios. Negatives...the long 2 hr. shuttle to and from the airport. Also, we found the entertainment to be very good, but very loud. We wound up sitting by the front lobby where we could still hear it at a comfortable level. Unfortunately, one of the big negatives were some of the guests. As I said, we stayed in the adult section, and there were some parents with older teens (18+), and the teens stayed in their own rooms...we had a couple of nights when the noise level was almost unbearable...slamming doors, yelling, staggering down the hallway and banging things, but once New Year's day came, this seemed to stop. We can't fault the resort for rude guests.
