An amazing experience for my first all-inclusive

grounds were very well maintained and the staff were so welcoming. Everyone wanted to everything to make the vacation so enjoyable. I'd go back tomorrow if I could but hopefully next year will be good.

Bahia Principe in Samana, DR

Everywhere we went, the grounds were spotless. The staff were so much fun and always there to help. There was a huge variety of foods to choose from and everything was so fresh. The rooms were big and clean. The views from this location were spectacular.

Outstanding Resort

I went with a group of 10, all with high expectations. I can honestly say that we all left with not one complaint aside from our holiday ending! The staff are all so kind and go out of their way to remember you, always with a smile and wanting to ensure you are enjoying yourself. I am personally very aware of my surroundings and like things to be very clean. My room, the restaurants, the buffet meals, entertainment areas and even the halls shine from being cleaned constantly. Having said that there is a wall mounted make-up mirror that is a treat. We checked and the bathrooms were very clean both in our rooms and the other ones as well. This certainly would not keep any of us from returning, it is just a suggestion to strive for all around excellence!

Favourite Resort in Samana

I have been to the DR 7 times 4 of which to Samana and this resort is my absolute favourite. Breath taking views, very clean and fabulous meals and staff. I would recommend this resort. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful resort!

The hotel is very well looked after. The grounds are neat and tidy and rooms are in good shape. The staff in the hotel bar, beach bar, restaurant and a la carte were superb! So much fun and provided great service. The housekeeping staff were exceptional, my room was always well stocked and clean. My only disappointment was that I believe the front desk staff tipped a local about me going into town to get some money. A person met me and my friend part way between the hotel and the bank and seemed [... read more] to know that was where we were going and persisted in accompanying us. In the end it made me so nervous that I ended up abandoning and coming back to the resort. When I approached the front desk staff to talk about what occurred, a new person was behind the counter and he just laughed and said that man that followed us to the bank must have just liked us. I would also caution that this resort is pretty quiet at night, we traveled as a group of 10 women and were there to have a fun get away, but no night life after 11:00 as most people at the resort are couples. We were also "shushed" at the buffet for being too boisterous.

Awesome Vacation

This is a beautiful resort. This was the first trip my kids went on, they are 19 and 21 and they had a blast. The staff was great especially the entertainment crew by the pool! The food was amazing, the resort was very clean and AMAZING scenery!! Overall .. An amazing week!!,

Beautiful Resort!

My friend and I were both very pleased with this resort. Beautiful facilities, VERY clean, excellent service, friendly staff. The food was great, especially the Al La Carte restaurants...that food was a cut above! There are lots of steps and things are spaced out, but our room was in a great location, so it was convenient and spectacular ocean view!

Breath taking resort

The views from this resort were breath taking from every room . The staff were always smiling and attentive and kept the grounds amazingly clean . The food from morning to night was great with a French touch every restaurant you went into . With a lovely beach and great pools to sit by and soak up the sun and enjoy the entertainment and cold beverage to great shows at night or relax in the huge lounge bar overlooking Samana . AWESOME RESORT

This was our second year visiting this resort. Our first year was all adult and enjoyed it much better than the second. Don't have a problem with kids at the resort but would suggest that they use the pools without the pool bar. The staff was amazing and rooms were always very clean. We brought another couple with us and they enjoyed the resort as much as we did. The views from our rooms were breath taking we were on the 4th floor, which we had the first year. We had asked for the same floor again and the resort made sure this happened. Would like to go back again. They had a mixture of ages and the blend work well.

Amazing Resort !

Alex and his entire animation team were amazing ! Never a dull moment, always had you smiling! The food, service, including , and especially the house cleaning team (Rooms) were second to none. And the view.... Absolutely breathtaking. We will be back for a third visit.

Relaxing week with good food

While not for the mobility challenged due to lots of stairs, this is a great resort. The place is spotlessly clean, the food is excellent with good variety and good hygiene practices, service was friendly and efficient at all times. Main pool area is quite loud and somewhat crowded, but beach has quieter areas and there is a second small splash pool area that is low key. Nice mix of European, Canadian and American guests. Only possible drawbacks are that some plastic rubbish -- mostly from the [... read more] town, but sadly sometimes from other guests -- washes up on beach, but they make good efforts to clean up. The sand here is quite fine, so there is rather a lot of silt in the water. Visibility somewhat limited, worse after it rains. All in all, an enjoyable place to spend a laid back week.

Great resort

This hotel was impeccably clean. The staff was very friendly and the beach was nice. There was at times quite a bit of garbage in the water at the beach that washed up from the city of Samana, however the staff did work at cleaning it up.

We loved the resort

the only thing we would change is the use of the lounges and umbrellas around the pool. There are not enough available and just putting towels or books on a lounger should not reserve you one for the rest of the day, especially if you don't even use it. We noticed people as early as 7 am reserving loungers and umbrellas. Not cool.....

Amazing Short Get Away

We arrived at lush, green Samana on Jan 27th for a short 4 day get away. It is wonderful that the resort has this option, so many all inclusive do not offer less than 7 days. This was the 3rd Bahia property we have stayed at, and by far the most picturesque. There is a stunning view from wherever you look. Our balcony overlooked the town of Samana, and both the pool and beach elevators have glass windows to look out. A resort built into the side of the hill gives great views but many steps for  [... read more]walking. Also sometimes a challenge to figure out where you want to go initially. A short 45min transfer from the airport, quick check in. Remember to pay ($4 per day) for your safe, and they give you the activation code, we forgot and had to go back to the desk. Our room was standard, clean. The king bed was on the firm side, and pillows ok, but we were given 4 of them. Bathroom fine too. We were on the 5th floor and no trouble with water temp, but water pressure was low. Once again, to Bahia standards we ate like kings. There is never any point of the day that you cannot get food. The buffet was standard, and always found much to our liking. Snack bar was great too. We tried the Italian and Gourmet a-la-carte. The italian was just ok for me, but the Gourmet was amazing! Best meal at a resort I have had. All the bars are great and very eager to please. They did run out of mint for 2 of our 4 days which was a problem for us mojito drinkers, but we managed to survive. The cappuccinos in the lobby bar with Barcelo Creame (Dominican Bailey's) were to die for. The entertainment staff here really go above and beyond. They want to talk to you and get you involved. They do an excellent job. During our 4 days we had a lot of rain, torrential at times. The entertainment staff did their best to give you fun options during the rain. The resort also puts an umbrella in each room. 2 thumbs up to Alex and Tomas and the rest of the animation team. The early evening dancing was fun, and we saw the Dominican Dancing professional show and also the Circus show, both very enjoyable. We did take the free ride into Samana for a couple hours. When you get off the cart there are locals waiting to take you around town. At first we were very leary of this, but in the end he was very helpful and informative taking us to the local market and also the supermarket to make our purchases. He answered all our questions and we were happy to learn so much. We did not do any other excursions as we only had 4 days. Other people enjoyed the zip lining. I think with all the rain the water looked very rough for whale watching. Despite the rain, a wonderful vacation. Very up to the Bahia standards. Would highly recommend. Wow what a nice vacation.

I have to start with the food ! I have been to several resorts and I am a picky eater but I loved the food here . I never ate anything I didn't like. It was not bland or tasted all the same. It was very fresh and tasty. Rooms are very nice , staff was very friendly and try to help in every way with a smile. We didn't have to fight for chairs on the beach but the main pool area will fill up. but you can go to another pool . There is lots to do here also like rent a motorbike and go driving around . It was a blast but I must warn you there are no rules no stop signs or stop lights it is just a free for all and you should have previous experience driving a bike and pay attention all around you . There are more motorbikes here then I have ever seen Everyone has one , you will see many people on one bike and all the bikes are small nothing over 200cc . I would go back to this place most defiantly.

Great resort

Was our second time here and enjoyed it once again. Great staff. Maybe not the best resort for someone with mobility issues because there are lots of stairs, but there are shuttles and the exercise works off the buffet calories! Well maintained resort and a great place for a winter holiday.

Beautiful location great food

This hotel is perched on a cliff with a great view of the water. The food at the Buffet was very good ( no mimosa at breakfast however) The seafood restaurant wasn't very good but the gourmet one was so special. Thankyou to Claudio for making that night so much fun.We had no problems with reservations. The beach is lovely the water temperature was 31' lovely. Snorkeling under the bridge was best. The towel game is in fact only done for shade there are lots of chairs. Rooms was great but bed was  [... read more]really hard and the pillows ridiculously small for a king size bed.

Great deal!

Folks working the resort were nothing short of WONDERFUL. We hung out at the different pools (from active to quiet) as well as visited the beach area. Food was very good at the three ala cartes whereas the buffet (as far as buffets go) was excellent. Grouper every day in every way! Rooms were fine and comfortable but definitely request the section looking over the pools and water vs just the water. Free shuttle into town is worth the experience and certainly makes you appreciate how fortunate we [... read more] are! Would give this a five star if they had one of those amazing Cuban beaches!

Beautiful, well run resort

nicely landscaped, surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. Well appointed public areas, easy to get around. Rooms are comfortable with balcony and sea view. Dining was exceptional, plenty of seafood, a good choice of everything, you certainly don't go hungry. Staff is very outgoing and helpful, always smiling. Close to town and yet away from all the hustle and bustle, situated on a hill, surrounded by beauty.

Scenic location

Loved the lush, tropical landscape and the scenic views. It was great having our room face the bay and to hear the waves on the shore. The amount of stairs did get tiresome after a while, but thankful the trolleys were frequent and accessible.
