Bahia Luxury Ambar Punta Cana

We just recently returned from a week's vacation to the Luxury Ambar in Punta Cana and have to say this was probably the best Bahia we have been too.Even though Covid was still out there ,we did not feel we were at risk as the resort took a great deal of precautionary measures .All staff wore masks ,there was adequate space (6ft at least)between tables. Clients were asked to wear madks if you were less than 6 ft.If you left an area it was immediately sanitized by the staff and they even went as  [... read more]far as putting everything into a QR code so that you did not even have to touch a menu. The restaurants were amazing and food exceptional.We had swimup suite with the included butler and had absolutely no complaints on how we were treated or our accomodation.

Great resort

Entertainment was great Staff very helpful and friendly Rooms were great and cleaned daily Restaurants were superb The beaches were beautiful and the staff cleaned the weeds daily. The coffee shop was a daily routine with us and besides the cappuccinos and lattes they also served up great snacks and desserts

Pretty resort

This resort is a four star. Food average, the reservation system for dinners poor, trying to get a spot on beach and pool a real challenge even at 6 a.m.. Lack of English speaking staff makes communications very difficult. Butler service should be proactive not upon request. The positives are beautiful resort, room comfortable, pool service excellent. Good resort

Have been to this resort many times prior to the pandemic. Having returned last week I had certain expectations that weren’t met. Service is no longer great. They appear to have less staff and although they are trying they can’t keep up with servicing everyone as expected. Food options although still ok it’s no longer the same. Beach area is crowded and if you want to get a good spot you have to get up very early before sunrise. Staff do wear masks but guests are not following any protocols. The resort does staff do not enforce the protocols. Personally I was comfortable with this but others may not be.

Would not recommend

Definitely not a five star, language barrier a real problem. Running out of things every day and having to get up at 5AM to get a spot by the pool or beach is just crazy. All the good ala cart restaurants were already booked on the day we arrived. Could not get a hold of our so called butler.

Resort was ok but

I have been in this resort more than 10 times and this time I wasn’t very happy about the resort. Food selection was down grade from previous years. Rooms were done just enough to sleep. Drinks very scarce not many drinks available and not many people serving. Taking too long to bring drinks to table. Nobody at the beach to get a drink. Night shows very poor. Not enough action around the resort.

Great COVID protocols

This was our third stay at Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar- adults only. Our last time was 4 years ago before the pandemic. We were very pleased with their safety protocols. All employees had to be fully vaccinated. Every employee had to wear a mask. In the buffet area everyone including guests wore a mask along with a plastic glove so you’re not accidentally touching something with bare hands. The adults only pool was very warm. The evening shows on the main stage were ok but the magic show was excellent. The 10 pm start evening shows in the Ambar lobby were really great and well choreographed. The quality of the food has improved. We got to try 4 a la carte restaurants. We really liked Portofino, MEAT and Rodizio the Brazilian steakhouse. You must make reservations and due to limited staff and CoVID restrictions we couldn’t get into all of them. The buffets give a large variety. The brand new Las Olas beach house is a beautiful spot for buffet lunch overlooking the ocean or the evening dinners if you can get a table at one of the 4 restaurants in this big new building. We walked a lot which we loved but the tram is there to use as the property is huge. We got our CoVID rapid antigen test tests performed by a nurse on Monday morning and our flight left Tuesday afternoon with Air Canada vacations. Great new 777 planes. We had our results emailed to us with plenty of time before departure. We were pleased with all safety protocols and the standards at this resort. Amazing value for the money. The staff are all very friendly and try hard to please the guests. We would definitely go back again.

Great place to return to

Love the beach and food. The people working at the resort are friendly and want to make your stay pleasant. We have made friends with some of the staff. Every time we come back to this resort we enjoy our vacation immensely

Amazing swim up room

The Bahia Principe Ambar was sold out while we were there but it didn't feel overcrowded. The swim up room is totally worth it because you have your own deck, loungers, and private pool with almost no one around you at any one time. Nice and peaceful. The beach is excellent, lots of palapas and loungers, and good staff to bring you drinks from the beach bar. The buffets were excellent for selection in terms of fresh fruit, veggies, lots of meat choices but also plenty of vegetarian options. Super chill, party if you want around the main pool in the afternoon, but nothing too crazy.

Beautiful Resort

We stayed here about 6 years ago and decided to go back as we enjoyed it then and wanted to see what changes have been made. We booked our room on line and also 3 of the restaurants. They upgraded us to a corner room, which was a nice bonus. With 7 hotels on the property it is nice to be able to walk around and really never have to leave the property. The next morning we had our meeting with the rep from Air Transit and were able to meet up with a butler (Watson) who showed us where to check on  [... read more]our reservations and also to book a reservation for breakfast the next day. He was always around and very helpful and talkative. Our favorite restaurant was the Limbo, we also ate at the meat and Greek restaurant. Our room was cleaned daily and fridge was restocked as well. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. We enjoyed the pools as well as the ocean. It was nice to get away after not being able to travel for 2 years. We had our PCR test at the resort and had the results back later that evening. All the staff including the gardeners wore masks at all times. Everyone is very friendly. We have already recommended people to this resort and property.

Simply one of the best.... by far

I have been to this resort 3 times over the last 8 years. Bang for buck it's a number 1. The beach is amazing and the resort very well designed and maintained. Food is decent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Issues when they come up are dealt with in a timely fashion. I've recommended this resort to friends and family and all said the would definitely return. I still travel to other resorts and counties but this is my favorite "go to" resort. Highly recommended.

Worth going for the food alone!! 5*

The luxury Ambar was amazing the beach is awesome the food at EVERY al a cart and buffet is the best I’ve never had a better time at a resort even if it is during a Pandemic. They sanitize everything all day and have good practices in place to make you feel safe. There was not really anything to complain about except the sheets on our bed had stains.. Going downhill and only getting worse

Grounds are nice, clean and well maintained. Food ok if you like fish,chicken,pork or beef. Most buffet meals are overcooked. Roomservice was ok but they kept forgeting part of the order everytime. Beach was seaweed free but a bit rough. No service near the end of the beach. You have to be near a bar for beach service. Don't accept 69109 as a corner jr. suite, it's awful with all the truck noise and diesel smell. They moved us to 67317 which was excellent with a small oceanview and full poolview. Spa was very good but they cut back on alot of packages since August. Night entertainment with the singers (3 nights) was poor, one lady singer shouldn't even be there. Shows on the other hand (4 nights) were good to quite good. Some staff were friendly others didn't care. Definetly not a 5 star, more 31/2 at best. Companies whose staff rate this hotel 5 stars should be fired or sent to a real 5 stars hotel. Enough said, hope this review helped.

Amazing Ressort

Beautiful Resort, Amazing Beach, Wonderful Staff Had a Great Vacation. Weather was Perfect. Beach Dinner was Amazing. Lobster was huge! Great food, good staff, safe & clean

Great staff, amazing food selection,clean spacious room. Grounds are beautifully kept. Pool got very busy and not enough chairs. Music too loud at pool & main lobby. Nice beach. It was great having access to the other resorts, especially when the pool got so busy & loud.

It use to be better

I wish I could say I got what excepted ,base on my last time I visited ,unfortunately, I did not . The food verity is limited a lot of pork in the buffet ,I was looking for beef(stake) but it was offered only 2 days in my week stay. And in the buffet they run out of food fast for example ( grilled mussels was done so fast and when I asked for it, they say sorry finished,we don't have anymore ) . We had few a la Carter restaurant to reserve for dinner and ,U couldn't reserve a in most of it  [... read more] . We only could do 3 . And the meat restaurant was not that good . My cell was stolen the last day before check out . And when I contact them when I went home , they said I should have contact the police before leaving the country ! Honestly ,I don't belive it I should delay my flight to look for my cell . Before ,the servers use to approach u more often to ask u what do u want! Now u where lucky if one passes u and asks .none on the peach . Overall, it was way better before.

Beautiful Resort

Spent a beautiful week here. Excellent updated facility, service was great overall, and everything clean and Covid protocols respected. Food was not quite up to our expectations however but was still very good. We would go back in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.

Good Vacation

Was there for 12 days. Not a bad vacation. Food was mostly luke warm at the buffets unless cooked fresh for you. Only went to 3 ala cartes, Limbo (1x), Portofino (2x) and MEAT (3x). I recommend Miami vice and chocolate monkey. Room, no issues other than freezing and for me the bed was like a rock. Room service, although quick, good luck getting everything you order. Toast for 2 was 2 slices of bread. Black coffee came with a jug of milk. Coffee shop. Good coffee. If you intend to buy vanilla, pick up there. $6.00 for a white and dark bottle. Now the sports bar. The food was great, nice and hot. Wings, fabulous. Service outside, looked good and never heard complaints. Inside service, the worst. On one visit, we had to go to the waitress who was hiding at the bar, to give our order. Never cleared our table or offered another drink. Other staff did her job for her. We were not the only one to experience this. Butler, couldn’t get a hold of anyone so stopped trying. No big deal. Housekeeping took care of us. Swim ups-please remember, at midnight when you are out there with music playing loudly and having a party, the walls are thin and you might want to think of someone other then yourselves. Be respectful because the hotel doesn’t enforce the 9pm rule. Lounge chairs-we noticed when certain groups arrived, chairs were saved and on more than one occasion, not even used after being held all day. The hotel was told (not me)about 8 chairs being held with orange pop and did nothing. This is an issue at the hotel. Another rule they don’t enforce. Overall, besides the food not always being hot and somewhat boring (lack of options I imagine due to Covid), the hotel provided a great vacation. We had a great time. Very relaxing.

Excellent!

Staff and grounds are exceptional. I had no complaints. Was so happy here I extended my stay. The food was amazing and they accomodate your request willingly. Very professional management team that show accountabilty. Ambiance is outstanding. Full protocol for Covid in effect, temperature taken before entering restaurant and hands are santized. Fantastic time in Punta Cana

The resort was the Bahia Principe Ambar, it is adults only. The facilities are amazing, the beach is wonderful, the pool are is very new. They were very clean kept sanitation to a max, and were very cautious of COVID rules. I would come back to this resort. Amazing time !
