Hotel Caribbean: Awful Hotel

The Sercotel Hotel Caribbean was a desaster. Very noisy, at 2am you can not sleep. There is no hot water. The air conditioning broke down during the night. There is no window in the room. The breakfast was disgusting. The hotel is very durty.

Hotel Atlantico: Okay resort close to Havana

Best feature of this hotel is it's proximity to Havana. Decent beach but needs to be cleaned more (add garbage cans). Too many flies around food in dining room. Often no glasses or coffee cups available. I still have intestinal issues and have been home for almost three weeks. Staff friendly. Great beds and new quiet air conditioner a bonus. Bathroom needs major upgrading and improve water temperature controls.

Melia Habana: Resort was lovely. However travel arrangements were a disaster

The experience of travelling with Sunwing was miserable. The flight left about 40 minutes late but that was the beginning of the disaster.. We arrived at 7.00 pm approximately and then our troubles began. I was told by many persons at Sunwing that the travel to my hotel was 1.5 hours. It took in excess of 5 hours to arrive at the Hotel. Bus driver who spoke no English and we were lost. He tried to go under a bridge and the hit the roof of the bus,\We had to turn the bus around on a single lane [... read more] road which required a 15 point turn. It was difficult to understand that I was gong to a 5 star hotel but was obliged to visit many 2 or 3 star places .I had arranged this holiday for my Senior business partner. I have lost that authority to be given that responsibility again. On our planned return on Saturday , Sunwing official informed me that due to some event, we had to be picked up at 4.30 am to catch a flight for 11.00am. In frustration I took a cab for $200.00. Unlike what I was told by Sunwing about an event, the taxi arrived in .1.5 to 2.0 hours. No traffic issues. As a result I was obliged to wait for 5 hours for my flight. Had I been informed correctly. I would have planned alternative transportation or planned to stay an additional day in Havana since my first day was a total travel day. In fact my next trip to Havana would be planned to fly into and out of Havana.. The amount of money I spent was a waste of time since I was angry for two days and I could not wait to get back home. On the return flight, I was offered a $50.00 coupon for completing a questionnaire, I intended to send this response and expect my compensation would be more attractive should I chose to travel with Sunwing again. Villa Bacuranao: Even quieter than expected

Centred around a v nice pool...but after dark really v little chance to meet ppl and chat. Very good breakfasts..omelettes w bacon(uncooked).plus asparagus..a first but delightful. Easy access to Havana via T3 or with a bit of legwork via v cheap local bus (standing room only invariably).Room was clean and functional w good A/C and lights..tv was lacking an Eng news Chan about the Mango Buffoon. Soccer though.

Villa Bacuranao: Everything adequate.

Nice to be in our own villa, that was a big plus. Rather than a big hotel we enjoyed the personal small intimate lodgings. The room was a little run down as far as bathroom, The toilet and sink leaked, so there was water on the floor consistently, but the room was clean and adequately appointed. Loved the walk out desk with chairs to sit on outside. The restaurant had adequate but not great food (to be expected in Cuba they say). The poolside was great, but the music was way too loud, you co [... read more]uld hear the music all the way to our villa. The beach was good. People friendly and accommodating. Front desk great. All in all, I would recommend it for the price of $500, you can't beat it.

Villa Bacuranao: adeqate

resort was adequate for purpose of close proximity to Havana and room 8 was functional, large and clean. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and basic Cuban fare. Chicken from poolside bar was tasty. Regular bus service to Havana was a positive. Pool was fine but over run by Cubans who paid by day for resort use. Beach is on next door property and quite dirty. Dining room windows were filthy as were the tables etc. a general lack of cleanliness. We always stay at 2 sta [... read more]r and this was the worst but as we did not expect much all was fine for us but we would go to another resort on playa est next time as it could not be worse and might be better. Weather was great and as we only paid $505. who can complain..

Hotel Atlantico: okay hotel

The hotel advertises fitness facilities but there is no gym of any kind. The food was mediocre at best. No fresh vegetables (all canned), limited fruit, poor selection of items. Hotel is run down and needs some maintenance to bring it back up to a decent standard. {i.e. repair tiles in and around the pool, paint a few things.) Renovated room was a 10 CUC/night surcharge and was so small we took a standard room which had a better view and was much larger with three beds instead of two doubl [... read more]es. Shower and toilet were not good, with water temps all over the place. The sink was fine. The staff was really great however. We enjoyed the people a lot. I would recommend this hotel with a few reservations and warn of its deficiencies.

Hotel Atlantico: Average resort

Needs a more attention Bathroom wasn’t that much clean All of the staff were so friendly and they were trying to give you best service I don’t expect a good quality from Cuba but expect to get a better food

Villa Bacuranao: Better then expected

I have been there before and this time was better. The buffet was complete and no need to run first thing in the morning, there were still some left at 9. Everyones so nice with my toddler and taking good care of me, 5 months pregnant. The restaurant 3 minutes away called the Bacura is awsome.

Villa Bacuranao: Convenable resort for people who don't seek luxury

I recommend to take just the option with or without breakfast, not an all-inclusive. Take the public bus, will cost you just 0.10 CUC instead of 5. Also, I like that the fact that they have a flat-tv screen with fifty channels with different languages when it's rainy outside, a small fridge and off-course A/C. The beach is really close even when it's not private to the resort and beautiful. The staff is really kind and the mojitos are better then in Havane city!

Blau Arenal Habana Beach: Great location and value

This resort is a gem. Located 20 minutes from Havana on a quiet beach... it's a great spot. My family (2 parents and 2 kids aged 9 and 13) have been twice in the last year. Pros: small resort, good food, really lovely staff, beautiful birds, gorgeous beach and good amenities. Cons: they heavily cater to Italian clients; Canadians are a small minority of resort guests...at times you can feel like a less welcome guest (e.g. even though they claim there's a kids program, it's only for Italian chi [... read more]ldren. My kids were never included. Most shows are only in Italian.) I would definitely return, although I hope they can do a better job of including all guests in the festivities.

Blau Arenal Habana Beach: One of the best resorts in Cuba

This is a very friendly not large resort close to Havana. We have stayed there 4 times, 3 times before the renovation and Dec. 24-Jan7, 2018 after the renovation. Everything is done in style. The pool is much bigger now. Service is extremely friendly and efficient. Food was very tasty. Portions are not very big but that allows you to have 3 meals and not feel that guilty. We loved it and will go there again.

Melia Cohiba: hotel so so--Air transat the worst

big pool--very bland zero colour--mats poor shape 2 days no salads--no lettuce tomato or cucumbers room 825 either no air or freecing bathroom good mediteranian restaurant very good had marriot visa--scotia bank amex--wouldn't accept either at front desk

Islazul Colina Hotel: Location Location Location

This is a decent hotel located near the front steps of the University of Havana. I enjoyed my one week stay there. Breakfasts were great. The drinks in the lobby from bottled water, to cappuccinos to Crystal beers were reasonably priced, and the staff was always helpful. I'd stay there again for sure.

Marazul Hotel: Well worth a visit !

Hotel Tropicoco, which is in process of changing its name back to Marazur (blue sea), has much to offer. It is a huge building from the time when Soviet Union was much involved in Cuban life. Its main floor is extraordinary....a magnificent design. There is an outdoor pool and 2 bars, one open 24/7. The bars are quite ordinary, but adequate. The large dining room offers 3 meals in cafeteria style. The food is adequate and plentiful, though some dishes are a bit strange. There is fruit at every m [... read more]eal...oranges, pineapple and mangoes. Waiters are assigned to sections of the room and look after the guests, giving out napkins and pouring wine and others drinks. The room I had was basic...2 beds and a TV that actually worked with BBC and EuroNews among other channels. The room and bathroom were clean. I left one Cuban CUC for the room cleaner and one for the waiter each morning, also brought things to give away. One disappointment was evening entertainment at 9 pm....extremely loud music and all talk in Spanish....no dancing. Service at reception was surprisingly unfriendly most of time. The hotel could do much to improve without spending alot, starting with a more welcoming staff.

Las Terrazas Aparthotel: TERRIBLE RESORT

THE ROOMS ARE SO FAR AWAY FROM THE FRONT DESK AND YOU MUST WALK NO RIDE TO THEM, THE BREAKFAST IS SO LOUSY THAT THE BUFFET IS GONE NOW, ITS NOT AS GOOD AS THE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST GIVEN HERE, THE ROOMS ARE MUST SMELLING, AND THE SECURITY IS THE WORST,.I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS, NEVER AGAIN I WILL GO THERE, I LEFT ONLY AFTER ONE NIGHT STAY,.NO WATER AT TIMES ,

Las Terrazas Aparthotel: Bueno y malo

Estube agradablemente sorprendida con la qualidad del appartamento. Se que en Cuba hace falta de mucha cosas y eso me lo esperaba. Pero que NADIE, a la 2 de la manana pueda trajer mis maletas al habitacion (Yo embarazada con una bebe de 3 anos y mi papa de 70) y que al otro dias tampoco... y que para la salida tan poco... NO HAY maleteros! Es un hotel y no hay maleteros. Esto dana a todo los efuerzo de este hotel para luzir bien.

Comodoro: No hot water!!!!!

The Comodoro Hotel is nice, and the pools were clean. Two years ago I was there for a week, and had no hot water. I was told every day the problem would soon be fixed. Thought I'd give them another go this December, and again, no hot water, with the same excuse!! Two years, and they have not fixed this more than annoying problem!!!!!! Won't be going there again.

Hotel Deauville: Excellent hotel and location

I was very pleased with the hotel and the service. I would also like to specifically thank Kristin Macdonald for her help, she was thorough and responsive to all my questions. I would and in fact will recommend her to friends and colleagues who might be looking for a travel agent.

Marazul Hotel: Under New Managment.

Improvements are underway and it's a welcome sight ...slowly but surely they are giving the resort a more modern feel. The employees are most accommodating to try and make the stay as pleasurable as they can. If only the weather had been more accommodating but it was what it was. Moderately high winds keep the waves too high for any chance of a relaxing swim and sporadic showers kept everyone on their guard but it was that time of the year so holidayers do your homework before you book. The food was typically Cuban cuisine presented to provide some variety so one could pick and choose as your taste buds dictate. All in all if you're open minded enough to choose Cuba and are capable of 'going with the flow'.... after the lengthy 1 1/2 hr plus shuttle from Varadaro you should do alright. A Free 30 minute shuttle daily into Havana and return is a plus as is the All Inclusive pricing if you can take advantage of a short notice vacation..
