Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Great resort

Had an amazing time on our girls trip! Food & drinks were good, staff very friendly. Rooms clean & spacious. Pools & beach amazing. Only complaint was lack of toilet paper and cleanliness of public washrooms.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Sanctuary at Grand Memories

We loved our 11 day stay at Sanctuary. Our room was ocean view and in need of some updating but it was very clean. There is a wonderful market not far from the resort that has restaurant's, shops and a bowling alley. Staff were so amazing and helpful The beach is breath taking. My daughter was lucky enough to see 6 dolphins we will definitely go back to this resort

Beautiful beaches , amazing staff all around , the butler service was amazing , saw dolphins swimming by on the beach ,the pool bar had a great atmosphere , we enjoyed the sunshine so much we didn’t make it much later after dinner , we had an amazing day deep sea fishing ! Only complaint was the sanctuary buffet had so many flies as it was an open air buffet but we had access to grand memories buffet and the selection was great ! We are hoping to go back in November ! Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Wonderful relaxing vacation

We found the Grand Aston Las Brugas to be very comfortable and welcoming . We had a nice king bedroom in the Adult Section. We enjoyed the pool as well as the great bartender by the Adult pool. The ladies that worked at the Adult snack bar were very friendly and attentive. We want to mention in particular Yakimis Madrigal Peraza as a wonder house maid, she is friendly and thorough. They all made our vacation so enjoyable The musicians at the lobby were superb especially the young guitar player who did a lot of Country songs. The Michael Jackson show was spectacular. We also enjoyed the jazz bar and drinks made by Julio, he is quite talented. A special thank you also to Yanet from Holasun for her friendship and help booking an amazing lobster dinner at the One Gallery. The front desk staff including Richert were always helpful and friendly also.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great resort!

The resort was beautiful. Beaches were like a post card. Staff were amazing, supper friendly and kind. Coffee every morning was delicious. Rooms were perfect. Had water in the fridge and new towels everyday. Would definitely go back.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Enjoyable visit.

Friendly greeting upon arrival with a welcome drink. Our assigned butler took us on a tour and then to our room. The staff and the beach are what makes this resort. The food was decent for Cuba but very repetitious. There are no menus since they don’t know what they will have available for that day. The waitress tells you upon sitting what is available. Always eggs and bacon available although the bacon was rationed. Absolutely no jam or peanut butter. The best evening show was on Sunday  [... read more]evening with a Michael Jackson impersonator. Poolside entertainment started shortly after 3:30 and was entertaining but nothing special. Bring lots of donations for the staff i.e. clothes, shoes, toys, Tylenol, toothpaste, etc. Believe me, it’s so appreciated. They get to keep material things but all tips are shared. The entertainment staff were very warm and friendly, Yadian and Karley are the best!

Melia Las Dunas: The worst

We did not get to go to this resort as sunwing cancelled our entire trip. We booked through trip central and when asked for help to get compensated for the 8hr delay. Trip Central replied “oh dear Iam sorry, Nothing we can do” contacted Sunwing and they said “I had to go through trip central”. Didn’t get anywhere, will not booked through Trip Centeal again!!

Iberostar Coral Ensenachos: A very Nice Surprise

I want to not promote this hotel so it stays quaint and peaceful but I must be honest it exceeded my expectations. What’s makes this hotel so special are the people, they are so welcoming and friendly. The rooms and location will be a wonderful surprise. My only complaint is the food inconsistency but it’s Cuba so that’s expected. This is not a place for teenagers as there is nothing for them . It’s for older adults who want peace and quiet and a chance to meet others . A great place for singles [... read more] as I met so many people and was fine on my own as I needed a restful vacation. Just don’t book with Sunwing try Air Transat.

Grounds were well kept. Beach was amazing!! Food was decent just limited variety. They also ran out of beer for 2 days and limited on vodka and tequila. Rooms were nice and our maid did a very good job every day. The workers were all very nice.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful,lots of flowers,well taken care of! Beautiful beach ,large ,clean swimming pools! Food was good,lots to eat especially if you're willing to try some different dishes. Very,very friendly staff!

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: AMAZING RESORT

GREAT HOTEL , BEST FOOD YET IN CUBA, STAFF WENT OUT OF THERE WAY TO HELP , BEACH IS PERFECT, SECOND TIME BACK TO THIS HOTEL I WILL COME BACK . OUR FLIGHT WAS DELAYED TWO DAYS THE HOTEL LOOKED AFTER US.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Amazing place

We are return guests of Valentin Perle Blanca in Cayo Santa Maria. We love this resort. There's no shortage of food, booze, exceptional staff, entertainment. We had 30 degree weather for full week. Looking forward to returning.

Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria: Serious need to improve!

This was our 3rd time at the Dhawa and probably our last unless major improvements occur. We are all aware of the food shortages in Cuba and went very well prepared with food and snacks. However, this time was beyond acceptable. We arrived on a Thursday and were about 100 guests. Friday morning the occupancy doubled as Cubans came to spend the weekend at the resort. Now don’t get me wrong, we all know how difficult it is for them so it is very difficult to blame them for this, however the staff admitted to us that they were limiting the amount of food at the buffet for that reason but what about Canadians who paid good money to be there? It’s like the saying goes, they are biting the hand that feeds them. After the weekend, we were down to about 60 guests and they closed the buffet for dinner, only leaving the a la carte restaurant with 4-5 meal options. Due to the low level of occupancy, there was no entertainment during the day and for the 9 nights we were there, they had a couple of musicians in the evening for an hour but the rest of the time was simply a fashion show. The sad thing is that they don’t seem to realize that whether they have 60 guests or 500 guests, they should commit to still providing entertainment. The positive of this resort is the staff, the beach and the size of the hotel, as it’s very small and making it convenient to get from one place to the other

We had a great time, the butlers are amazing will do everything they can for you love Jose. I sent an email to the resort before leaving and they gave me all my requests. Lovely people. The only issue are the flies on the food, the buffet is better at the grand memories

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: We loved our 2 weeks at Playa Cayo Santa Maria!

This was our 2nd time at Playa Santa Maria and I have to say this was the best 2 weeks we’ve spent in Cuba since we started coming in 2017! We have found a place that we will be looking to come back to. First thing is that we noticed many improvements since our first visit in 2023 from the grounds to the furniture in the lobby and beach to the food (to be fair the food is really based availability and situation in the country at the time) but we had no complaints here. Claudia Cruz Sanc [... read more]hez (from customer service) was pivotal in helping us make this vacation so enjoyable and special (from helping us with reserving a room that accommodated our wishes, to reservations at the restaurant to just being there to answer any questions we had0. We also got to enjoy her company a couple of times where we had to opportunity to sit down and get to know her a little more (this kind of thing makes our time feel more meaningful as we get to know people at a more personal level). Also a mention goes out to Yaidelis Calvo Reyes for also keeping on eye out for us. Our favorite restaurant was the Italian - especially the cannelloni and ice cream cake!!! We also really enjoyed the Hamburger/Pizza place for lunch (reservations required). We had the chance to attend the repeat customer dinner which did not disappoint - the food (salmon and steak) was delicious and we enjoyed the live music while overlooking the ocean. The snack bar offered omelettes in the morning (with cappuccino) and always had nicely done grilled sandwiches with fries for an alternative to the buffet or as a snack. The morning we left the resort (at 6am) they quickly prepared sandwiches for us to have on the bus as the buffet wasn’t opened yet. Thanks to Claudia Cruz Sanchez and to Lauren for making the reservations so easy and accommodating our requests. The buffet always has a good selection and we found more than enough of everything to eat. What made the experience of going for meals exceptional was the staff - at the buffet we met so many (unfortunately I don’t remember everyone’s name) wonderful people that made us feel so very welcomed and taken care of: Leo, Abel Raul, Ybel and Mario. There were so many others that always had a smile and hello for us that I am not mentioning that deserve our appreciation as well. The hotel had a nice variety of drinks available from Spanish coffees (lobby) to Marguerita’s (beach bar), crème the menthe and gin and tonic. They always offered wine (red, white or rose) at all the restaurants and buffet. Our room (a suite overlooking the ocean) was lovely. Bright and airy with lot’s of room. Yes the paint and furniture is a little dated but everything was functional and clean. The air conditioning kept us cool although during the afternoon it was nice to have the patio door open and let the warm breeze come through. The only thing that needed repair was that our 2nd toilet had problems flushing (thankfully we had 2 toilets available in the suite and were able to just flush the 2nd one with a bucket of water). Otherwise the room was great. Lot’s of closet space and storage, a table, chairs, couch, fridge, nespresso coffee maker (we brought our own pads that we got at Walmart - regular size pods worked perfectly). Our chamber cleaners Alfredo Vazquez and his lovely wife Mildrey were always there to give us anything we needed (toilet paper, bottles of water, extra towels) as well as just always being there with a hello and smile. There is a safe in the room (no extra cost) and internet always worked well - you get a code at your arrival and this stays the same for your whole visit - no limits on time and no cost. Then internet even worked at some part of the beach! I had the opportunity to have a relaxing massage with Yasmani at the spa - the area of the resort is just so relaxing with the zen music, small garden with chair and little pool which I enjoyed very much. The beach has a new boardwalk and stairs making it easier to get down to the water - there is a little edge that you have to climb down - very manageable from many areas but the new stairs are a nice addition (I would only say that the last step down is quite high - maybe the sand has eroded away making it such a big step). The beach itself is gorgeous - we swam everyday and walked both sides of the beach - we never reached the end on either side. There was always chairs available for us both at the beach and the pool. The entertainment staff was great (we usually are pretty quiet during the day) but could hear the activities on the beach in the morning and at the main pool in the afternoon. But we really appreciated the variety of the many different musicians that came through and played in the lobby late mornings and evenings. From solo musicians to larger groups (thumbs up for the group Septeto Atabey). We were so fortunately to be there at this time as the hotels on Santa Maria have just started organizing a weekly cocktail at the Plaza La Estrella on Thursday nights for Canadians. This was such an enjoyable evening - we absolutely recommend it. All free - a bus picks you up at the lobby and returns later in the evening. At the plaza there is live music, dancing, shows, food (plenty to snack on for supper) and drinks going on from 7 to 11pm. This was one of the best evenings we have ever spent in Cuba so far! We also took a day trip on the $5 bus out to Playa Las Gaviotas which is a natural protected reserve at the end of the island. Well worth the trip out there. Note there are no facilities so bring along what you will need (towels, water/drinks, snacks, shoes, sunscreen). You pay a $5 entrance fee at the gate and walk down a trail for about 10 minutes to one of the most beautiful pristine beaches we have even been on. We also used the tennis courts to play a little pickleball - which was a nice thing to do earlier in the morning (we brought our own balls and rackets). In summary, we really enjoyed our 2 weeks at this hotel and we look forward to coming back here again in the future! The resort filled all our needs but getting to know the staff made it so very enjoyable.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Lovely Hotel

We had a wonderful week in sunny Cayo Santa Maria with the most beautiful beach, great pools and well maintained grounds. The staff were so friendly and helpful always giving service with a smile! Lots of food to choose from. The cappuccino was very good and of course the drinks were plentiful ! Will go back again in the near future.

Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: It’s fine.

Rooms are clean although our power shut off any time we opened the sliding glass door. Thankfully the mechanic showed us where the panel was so we could fix it ourselves. Grounds were consistently getting worked on while they were there. None of the outdoor showers worked to get the sand off. Not enough chairs anywhere! Talked to people from other resorts who were there at the same time, and it seemed lik [... read more]e this resort specifically lacked a lot, especially when the resort doubled over the weekend. Also having to make reservations at the buffet was ridiculous. Snack bar on adult side closed at 3 (where the servers were amazing tho) and no specialty ala cartes for people with upgraded bands. Bartenders at the main pool were rude. Bartender on the adult only side was a god send and made amazing drinks with the product he has available.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Great Last Minute Getaway

We needed to get out of the winter blues and booked this last minute vacation at Grand Sirenis. Beach, pools, and service were amazing. Rooms were ok. The photos online are much nicer than what we had. Our shower in our room leaked. And the bathrooms are open to the room with a water closet. Again, we weren’t there for the rooms, we were there to enjoy the sun and outdoors.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Beautiful Beaches

We stayed Feb 4-11, 2025. My favorite part was the sun & beaches. Ensenachos beach is very nice but Megano beach was my favorite, lots of variety of seashells, conch shells, starfish, also good for snorkeling. The rooms are dated but clean & the staff are fantastic, always willing to please you. The food at the snack bar & specialty restaurant was good & hot, but even though the buffet had a bigger variety of food, most of it was cold to lukewarm, but they had a microwave to heat it up. I can't  [... read more]remember her name but the waitress that we had every morning & at lunch at the Marino snack bar was so amazing, she definitely deserves a raise. The pools were also very nice & clean. Also most of the rooms electrical outlets were only 220v so you need an adapter.
