Dreams La Romana: Hilton LA Romana

We really enjoyed our week at the Hilton. Great staff great food and entertainment was the best. I would definitely go back. Lots of side trips to do or just relax and enjoy the many pools. We did the upgrade Enclave pkg and enjoyed the extra perks we got

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Renovation not completed.

My husband and i spent a week at sunscape la ramono in the first week of February. The weather was perfect. The ocean beach clean the food amazing the drinks awesome the restaurants on site were fine dining at its best.the staff were very friendly. A lot of them spoke Spanish and french with broken English. Grounds well kept. We did know prior to booking that Hyatt was still renovating buildings, so we expected this and enjoyed ourselves. Ok this part is the negatives,….Upon arrival the room ass [... read more]igned to us was nice and freshly renovated but our balcony view was over an industrial kitchen with a loud fan and air conditioner. We found it too noisy when we sat on the balcony for us. The staff were wonderful and helpful upgrading us to a room in the sun club adult area not ocean view.The room was smaller and had a musty smell noisy air conditioner but a quiet balcony. Our view was looking at another building the same as ours which was under renovations. The hallway noise of the hotel echo every sound and the doors slamming open and shut was so loud! Conversations can be heard as you pass each doors. Days into our stay our bathroom had a leak in the wall causing the wall to swell with water. The staff and management quickly looked at the issue but could not fix it that day we were leaving the next day anyway. The sun club building it backed onto a construction site which could be noisy during the day. For the price point of the resort it was fine, if you don't mind workers milling about all day. Will not go back, sad to say.

HM Alma De Bayahibe Hotel: Nice Resort

Beds were hard, it was like sleeping on a box spring, pillows were very uncomfortable. No tissues in the bathrooms. No chair to sit on in the room other than the desk chair. Food: Very repetitive, other than the small section of theme food nightly. They charge extra to what they call top shelf alcohol Very big language barrier with all the staff, unless you know Spanish, no english spoken

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Okay Resort

The resort is very clean and well kept. Housekeeping services for rooms was excellent. The major downfall of the resort was the food in the buffet Many of the food trays appeared to be brought out night after night Ie beef strips. One night turkey was being carved and served as a feature. It was all gone in 45 minutes and the server advised there was no more turkey available!!!!! Evrntually they brought out some chicken but even that was limited. Someone grossly underestimated the amount o [... read more]f turkey required when the resort was apparently nearly full. Thankfully they had pasta-pizza etc available every night. Overall the food was a disappointment compared to other resorts I have been to. Our room was directly opposite the lobby of the Boganville lobby which was a turn around point for the shuttles being operated by the e hotel. Everytime they backed up the reverse alarm would start beeping which sounded like an alarm clock going off No sleep for the first two nights After complaining strenuously I finally got to speak to the person who supervised the shuttles and he was able to quiet them during the night but they would start up at 7 AM. Would have been nice to sleep in a bit while on holidays. MY ADVICE. Avoid building o 32

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Beautiful Grounds!

The hotel grounds are gorgeous, and the buffet food & beach are mediocre but a la cartes are good. Alcoholic beverages are just okay-too syrupy. A LOT of seniors at this resort and evening entertainment boring except for the Dominican Night. Rooms need a THOROUGH cleaning and upgrading! Water pressure in shower and TV options could be improved.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great Place

This is a great resort. Nice buildings, layout, rooms, furniture etc. Very private beach with no beggars. Very good service from very nice staff. One the best all inclusive, adult only I have been to. Buffet food was better than the a la cartes. Outdoor bars served watered down booze but the lobby bars were excellent. Air Transat is pretty good if you want to avoid Air Canada! It was very close to being a 5 star experience!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Beautiful resort, great value!

For the price we paid we were really happy with this resort! Service was fantastic, Brazilian steakhouse was the best restaurant, beach was calm and beautiful! Thank you to front desk for making sure we got a reservation on our first night (Dec 31), and to the buffet servers for being so quick! If you're looking for a beautiful place to spend a week and don't mind the limitations of the breakfast/lunch buffet selection, then this resort is a very reasonable price! Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Another Great Stay

My husband and I traveled to the Bahia Luxury Bouganville, Adults Only, La Romana Dec 10-20/23. We booked it through Trip Central.ca and they were fantastic to work with- quick response and very customer focused. We love the Bahia Principe brand as we know what to expect and it consistently delivers on all fronts. The package we bought was also incredible value for money. Here are some of the key points: excellent location, beautiful grounds and buildings, exceptionally clean, excellent food and [... read more] beverage option (buffet is exceptional and specialty restaurants, bars were all very good) and with tons of selection, large comfortable rooms with balcony and ocean view, plenty of lounge chairs with multiple locations to choose from (party pool, quiet pool, spa pool, lovely beach), for the most part the staff were friendly and service was great, entertainment/activities were available if you wanted it and guaranteed good weather. We went to unwind, decompress, reconnect and not do much of anything other that rest, relax, eat and drink. We would highly recommend it and will continue to book Bahia for this kind of "all inclusive" vacation. Doesn't get any better that this.

HM Alma De Bayahibe Hotel: Very nice resort

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The resort is kept very clean and the pools are cleaned and beautiful. I would recommend this resort and would go back in a minute.

Dreams La Romana: Amazing resort but don’t book with Air Transat!

The Hilton hotel was 5 stars and everything was amazing! From the check in, room, grounds, service, food, entertainment and beach. We booked this trip with Air Transat and they lost my husband’s luggage and then found 2 days before we flew home. We asked for them to deliver to our hotel and they said no, we can pick up at the airport when we depart. The day we were leaving the Air Transat bus never picked us up from the hotel and we had to take a 45 min taxi ride to Punta Cana airport and pa [... read more]y $100US dollars. There was no Air Transat rep at our hotel and every time I called the Air Transat assistance phone number off their app, nobody answered. We paid a lot of money for this trip for 1 week with Air Transat and they should be embarrassed with their level of customer service. Book with West Jet, Sunwing or Air Canada instead.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Nice resort

Hotel was ok but the beach was crap.The hallways in the hotel were dangerous because they used squares of carpet which kept lifting up causing a potential tripping hazard.The staff was great and the meals just Ok. The fruit juice was of poor quality. They ran out of Bailey's and vodka a number of times. Just poor management. Our group will not be going back.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great resort

I enjoyed everything about the resort except the loud music at the main pool that could be heard at the beach. Even ear plugs could not drown out the sound and the whistle blowing during aqua fit was worse. Beautiful grounds, great food, nice people. Our room was lacking a few things and after asking twice we just forgot about it. This should not be tip dependant.

The grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful but sometimes difficult to understand because we only speak English. The pools are very nice. Glad there was an option for a "quiet" pool for relaxing. The room was nice. The only complaint was the air conditioner was very loud, couldn't be turned up or down and the room maintained a "dampness" that never went away (towels, bathing suits never dried). Catalonia Royal La Romana: Great resort - terrible entertainment.

Everything at this resort was perfect or near perfect - beaches, rooms, pools, food, restaurant selection, etc.....except the nightly entertainment which was simply terrible! For starters, you could not trust the advertised programming on the resort app, both for times and activity. For example, our first night was supposed to have karaoke but there was simply someone singing, which was most nights. The entertainers were not loud and the tempo was such that I felt I was at a resort for senior ci [... read more]tizens, not an adults only. And everything ended by about 10:30 PM! At an adults only resort! I know kids that go to bed later! And there is no discotheque or music bar to runaway to. After a couple of nights we realized - by pure chance - that there was a theatre at the sister family resort next door. We were not given a schedule or app for this programming but found something on a wall while walking around. We took in a few of the shows put on - including the typical Michael Jackson (been there, done that, but awesome in the face of absolute boredom) and one circus show that was good considering where we were, and what we'd been exposed to (or not). We also felt the activities at the beach were lacking. No drink testing, no beach volleyball (admittedly the beach is not very flat and wide for this), etc. There were dance lessons but frankly they were annoying being right next to lounging area if you were trying to read or sleep under the sun. All in all, a beautiful place that is in great shape, but completely bored by the lack of fun activities and entertainment.

Catalonia Royal La Romana: Very pleased with our stay!!

We found the grounds to be very nice featuring mature landscaping, nice palm trees, stone work, pools and adult lobby/ hotel and restaurants area. The rooms outside of the newly built building,I found that they are backlogged on keeping up with the maintenance items for the rooms; although I found that they are nice suites that are well thought out in design and functionality. Sand around the single loungers needs to be sifted, not just racked. Things I would change is adding fresh s [... read more]heets daily to the beds at the beach and a bigger towel service section. This should increase. Overall I see an effort to improve visible common area upgrades and maintenance crews working hard which demonstrates that Catalonia Hotel Resorts really take care of their properties. I was pleased with the staff and service workers. Beach is amazing!! Food was great! Entertainment was great as well! Overall 4.7* out of 5.

Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus: One of the better resorts

Liked everything except aggressive street sellers. Beach is very good. Scuba diving operation is one of best. Safary trip was mostly going from store to store but it had its interesting moments. Perfect location-no storms through the two-week vacation.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great time at Bouganville

This was an interesting trip and one I won’t forget too soon. First we arrived on Nov 18th we sat down for dinner and the skies opened up. Was the most rain the DR had ever received in one day. Sunday morning the shoreline was covered in debris at first they said it would be 1-2 weeks to clean up well the resort did it in 4 days! They really were amazing and everyone appreciated how hard they worked to get the beach fixed. Now for the resort itself: Grounds: beautiful they really look after i [... read more]t and I could not find one area that wasn’t kept up. Beach: Can only review based on not being able to go in the water, the area that was open was the part with many loungers and palapa’s. We never had to hunt for one there are many and lots of shade or sun whichever you want. Room: yes they are a little dated I have been in better but our housekeeper kept it clean and tidy all week. I slept well and never had to ask for anything. Mini fridge was filled with what we wanted and we had ample clean towels. Nice sitting area (we were in standard poolside) bathroom is a good size. Food: We ate at the buffet more often then we normally would, while I found it smaller then others this meant that everything was fresh and there was never an empty serving dish for more then a couple of minutes. I found the buffet food to be very good, nice variety and good tasting. Omelette station is perfect, only issue was the beach buffet the lines could be long especially around 1pm. We went to La Pascadore - solid 5 out of 5 great service interesting food Don Pablo 4 out of 5 food is excellent service is good but slow and I didn’t like the high pressure tactic to buy a $70 bottle of wine. Takara: 4.5 out of 5 Food is amazing make sure you are hungry service is very good. Los Corales Rodizio: 3 out of 5 terrible service, food was ok except for the meat it was the only good point, will skip this one next time. Pools: Quiet pool is just that but if you don’t get a lounger by 9am you won’t get one till later on. Loved the swim up bar great bartender one of our favourite spots. The main pool is busier but you could still get loungers around 10am, bar is ok but not the best. Jacuzzi pool is interesting but we only went in once, the bar there is excellent. We did not like the beach bar, could not make a drink very slow and not friendly. The water in the pools is a very nice temperature all the time and they are big enough you always have space. People: this is what makes this resort honestly some of the nicest people I have ever meant, check in and out was so easy and you feel like family from the minute you get there. Lounge bar is great and there are servers all over. However the best is the Entertainment group, they work so hard and they made the vacation for us. Always smiling and saying Hi they try to involve anyone who wants to be and are constantly on the go. We really enjoyed the water aerobics and the nightly shows. The app: this worked really well for us, room service was punctual and anything we needed we could do through it and our butler kept an eye on us. Made check in and check out very easy as well as reservations and schedules. We will be returning as well as trying some other Bahia properties, thank you Trip Central and Victoria for helping us find somewhere we will be happy going back to.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: A few concerns

The site was wonderful, as well as the pools and the beach, but we had to move to another room where the surroundings were quiet. Parties going on up to 3 o'clock and later at night. Safe not working properly. Fridge insufficiently restocked. Toilet blocked. Shower leaking around the toilet area. Telephone not functioning in the building. The personnel was great.

Here's the great. The resort is immaculately clean, beautiful and the rooms are spacious and very nice. Staff were super friendly and hard working, although I did encounter key staff members who spoke no english (lifeguard). The food was what's to be expected from a buffet but overall it was good albeit repetitive in their offerings. Restaurants to book in were very good with great service. Size of resort was great. Not too big...not too small. The beach with the palm trees was outstand [... read more]ing. To swim at the beach there was a step down on entry and exit which made getting in and out difficult. I had to have my husband help me out every time. Not ideal for seniors. Water not clear (which I knew prior to arrival) however there is something to be said about heading to the tropics and experiencing the crystal blue waters. My first two days there we had no hot water for showers. When it finally started working the temp was warm at best. It is far from the airport which after a day of travel isn't the best.
