Great hotel, friendly vibe, minutes from beaches and town. Staff very friendly and helpful for getting around the town and beaches. Everbody in seemed to be on their 4th stay and sociable and helpfu.l

Fontan Ixtapa: Good enough

The hotel was fine and the food was ok. Room nice enough. Ocean view a must. It took a few days to adjust to the food but overall, it was different but fine. The beach was great, waves huge and powerful so be careful. But Thursday to Sunday super busy with bus loads of people coming in making it super crazy. Pools filled with people and kids were everywhere. We changed rooms due to the noise later in evenings. The town was nice, clean and friendly. "The General" sports bar across the road was excellent food for us Canadians.

Barcelo Ixtapa: great place to recharge

Clean with lots of room to sit around the pool or beach, great weather and the best waves of anywhere. Staff where really great and very helpful. Rooms were very clean and up to date. TV had 6 channels of English movies for late night viewing.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Excellent Resort

Rooms were big.Food was good.The best part if you like to go on trips and stay busy this is the place for you.Biking catamaran snorkelling kayaking and it's all included.Plenty of walking areas buses into town for 12 pesos.l rarely go to a resort where l would return but this place is an exception.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Sunscape Dorado Pacifico

This was an amazing hotel. From comments we heard, most other hotels were not as nice as this one. The rooms were very nice, ocean view. 4 elevators, kept very clean. The resort was beautiful. Well kept, clean, service was amazing. Everyone spoke very good English. They went out of their way to accomodate your requests. Food was very good esp in a la cart restaurants. Town was right across the road for shopping and restaurants and casino. The pool was awesome with swim up bar as was the beach. [... read more] Can walk for a mile on beach which was extremely clean. Water bit too rough for much swimming but that was fine. Both the pool and ocean was very warm. Lot of Canadians there. We would definately go back.

Park Royal Ixtapa: good times

relaxing....great staff, happiest maid service (always smiling!), wonderful groundskeeper as he went out of his way to show us the lizards and other local wildlife on the resort grounds...excellent service, fabulous margaritas!!!! .... however, did not appreciate the time share people harassing us every day, every morning constantly, to the point we had to be rude after informing them we were not interested!!!! It didn't help that they were located right at the elevator. No way to avoid  [... read more]them. we were pretty well cornered. One of the lady time share people was extremely PUSHY! Even tried booking our group a tour and wanted to charge us an additional one hundred dollars each.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Beautiful Resort

We loved our stay at the Azul Ixtapa Grand. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Our room was spotless clean everyday. The rooms are spacious, large balcony and a huge shower. Plenty of large towels and facecloths were available everyday. The linens were nice. My only suggestion for improvement in the room would be better pillows. The gym is the nicest hotel gym I've ever used, it's amazingly equipped for a Mexican resort. The pool areas were all very nice and clean. The service poolside was always excellent. The bartender in the grotto was awesome. The snack bar always had a good selection of fresh food. The inifinity pool is amazing. It was a refreshing spot to cool off and the view from the pool is great. We enjoyed the bike tour and kayak tour to Ixtapa Island. It would be nice if we were allowed to take kayaks/bikes out on our own without a guide. We loved our long walks along Playa Linda which is about a 10 minute walk from the resort. The beach is beautiful and you can walk a long way. Loved the location. Staff at the resort were all very friendly.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Awesome resort !!! Very satisfied.

Ala carte restaurants were fantastic .. The rooms were great and the maid service was just as good. The staff was always friendly and willing to help in any way. The pools were awesome and the view from the infinity pool was to die for. Overall, a great vacation !!

Park Royal Ixtapa: Clean and Friendly resort

Although this resort was clean and friendly , there were a few issues. Construction for a new ( well needed ) Kids pool was under way which took up a large area where chairs would have been, so the pool area was very cramped. You needed to get up well before 7:00 AM and reserve a chair or you will not get one. Biggest pet peeve would be people would leave their towels on the chairs and then never even show up for the full day. I paid extra for the Ocean view ...huge mistake, what they don't tell [... read more] you is that you also face the disco club that blasts thumping music until 2:00 AM EVERY night. We moved rooms the second day with a Mountain / partial ocean view,much better from a noise point of view.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Really Nice

This hotel is beautiful from the moment you step in the lobby. Service was great, food was awesome .The A la carts are really nice fine dining. People are very friendly. Lots of excursions to do if you want to book them and a short bus ride to Ixtapa for some shopping.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Great vacation

Everything met or surpassed our expectations. The staff is amazing always going out of their way to serve you. Great facilities, everything is close by and contained. Very quiet resort, entertainment is average. The beach is nice and the waves were big which is great if it is what you like. There is a few time sharing people (calling themself concierge) in the lobby trying to convince you to attend a presentation in exchange of discounts or free excursion. Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Fantastic Infinity Pool !

Great Service ! And the Infinity Pool makes the place. OH and the waterfall and swim up BAR. Restaurants are OK. Setting is great !! Nice getaway for couples. Other guests were amazingly friendly.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Okay hotel, great service.

The four star rating is a bit high for this property. The hotel itself and grounds are solid 3 star but not much more. On the other hand, the staff is on the high end of 4 star. Emporio has really invested in their staff and it shows. Unfortunately, and this isn't the fault of the hotel, but the noise on the mountain view side of the building is unbearable at night. Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: JUST OK

This resort is advertised as a Mexican family resort and Mexican families come in by the busloads. We had booked this resort w. AIR CanAda Oceanfront rooms but due to software issues we were checked in to streetside which were fine as despite reviews there was little noise coming from the bars across the street. However after changing rooms twice we were given an oceanfront room free of charge 2 days later. None of the rooms have balconies REstaurants: Sunset grill - delicious bbqd food with good variety of salads and desserts Buffet: Most times absolute bedlam, food is mostly Mexican and the same every day for breakfast and dinner. Lots of fresh fruit at breakfast and pancakes for the kids. Pool snack bar: hamburgers, hot dogs and french fries Pools: excellent small children's pool with slides and shade Main pool: Too small for the amount of guests at resort. Lots of children splashing and sitting at swim up bar Beach: Awesome - can walk forever, beautiful sunsets, soft sand and fun waves. Would definitely come back to Ixtapa but not this resort as way too many guests for a 200 room resort. Many large families with lots of children. Although all were very friendly, kind and welcoming and we did enjoy meeting many of them.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Good resort-if you know what to expect

Stayed week of Mar.3-10-oceanfront room, like others have said, noise can be a problem at night, and it does not matter where your room is located. The noise can come from other resorts having live bands or weddings etc. The noise was only an issue for 3 nights and we wore earplugs so not a problem sleeping. The room itself was older with a lack of power outlets-we could only use 1, the other was broken. The food was good, however like many resorts the buffet food got a little repetitive over the week. Friendly staff who worked hard to please the guests! The 2 a la carte's served Italian and the other beachfront grilled (serving steak, chicken, seafood) were good. The buffet was heavy on the Mexican dishes but the hotel was filled with more locals than Canadians or Americans. 9 yr old daughter loved the kids activities. There is a separate kiddie pool with water slides but the majority of kids were in the adult pool where the swim up bar is located. The hotel should post signs about children under 6 only being allowed in the kiddie pool as I saw many toddlers and even infants in the pool sans diapers... Beach was great and the ocean warm and rough the way I like it. Sandy bottom no rocks -no jellies. Would stay here again if the price is right!

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Family resort lots of kids

Went on vacation with friends and overall had a great time. The food was good not over the top but acceptable. The rooms were fine but the bar fridge was rusty so not very appealing. We were to get 2 bottled waters and 2 beer every day - that didn't happen every day so we had to call front desk almost every day. We paid for ocean view and the couple we travelled with did not get one on checkin they did get one the next day. Also expect to have to get up early to put towels on a chair around the pool if you want a chair and expect very slow towel check in and check out. They manually complete a paper receipt everyday. Music starts promptly at 9 am so if you plan on sleeping in don't expect to. Did not spend any time at the ocean it was red flagged because of strong under toe. Almost got run over twice by the parachuters who land on the busy parts of the beach. If you have kids great but if you don't have kids travelling with you expect that the pool is always busy with kids who are allowed to jump in and splash everyone who is in the pool and they are able to use water guns and don't care who they spray. The resort is open to locals who do come in large numbers especially on the weekends. We went off resort twice and enjoyed local restaurants. Bar service at the pool bar was slow and they tend to serve the locals before you. It was strongly evidenced during our stay. The lobby bar should be open 24 / 7. There is an espresso bar in the obviously but tucked in the back corner of the lobby - disappointed that you had to pay. We've been at other hotel chains that include it. I highly recommend going for a massage on the beach - very good value and service. This resort communicates all activities in ONLY Spanish which is disappointing because you can't understand what activities were happening. The only entertainment on the resort was a Mexican night and 2 karaoke nights but all in Spanish. There are NO activities in English.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Adequate hotel / great location

I was not impressed that we didn't get the room that we asked for via the online booking through Tripcentral.ca The room we chose about 3 weeks prior to our vacation was listed as a Superior Oceanview and the fact that management kept insisting we booked a mountain view when we got there even though we never even saw these words in the ad or on our voucher was very insulting. When we got the voucher and it only said "Superior room" I questioned the agent at Tripcentral and she said we would h [... read more]ave no problem getting the oceanview. We were put on the 8th floor overlooking the town of Ixtapa (with mtns. in the background) and it was so noisy that we didn't sleep most of the first night. We asked to be moved to an oceanview but were told by the manager that there weren't any available even though the other staff member a few minutes earlier had said there was one but that we would have to pay extra for it which we didn't think was right. We were then moved to a room on the 2nd floor. The room wasn't superior at all which we had paid for but it was good enough because we no longer were hearing the music from the discos across the road. We tried to express our dissatisfaction with not getting what we paid for with the agents from Tripcentral.ca but there was never any resolution to the matter. The 2 elevators on a number of occasions stopped at every floor even though no one had pushed any buttons on those floors. I was very happy to get onto the 2nd floor for this reason as we could then take the stairs most of the time. The staff at the hotel were really warm and friendly so that was all good, the buffet food was adequate, the sunset cafe was really good and the pool was okay but pretty packed most of the time. The fridge did not work which we mentioned to the management but was never looked at and we didn't get our quota of 2 beers and 2 soft drinks per day in fridge as was part of package. Minor details. Okay.... I have complained enough. It was a great location and I loved the beach. It was also nice to have the restaurants and little stores across the road and wasn't too far to go to Zihuatanejo. The waves were fine to swim in most of the time and the drinks were good. The rooms were clean and tidy every day and the beds were comfortable.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Awesome resort

I highly recommend this resort. The grounds are beautiful, excellent service , fabulous staff and the food in the a la cartes is amazing. I only have two cons : The buffet food is ok at best, not ever hot and not appealing. Avoid when possible. Book the Oyster Bar for breakfast and Mexican and Oyster Bar for lunches. The second is the room allotment. We travelled here last year and had the same issues. You can request a King bed but are told that it is decided upon check in. This is not really [... read more] true as they have the envelopes all ready made up. Last year we requested a king and got the "mexican doubles" the first night. The resort was helpful and moved us the next day. This year I requested a king thru Trip Central and sent an email direct to hotel but yet again was disappointed to be given a "mexican double" (they say queen but not really)yet again. Our travel companions had done the same but both years got the king they requested??? The hotel is very helpful and does accomodate the changes the next day but why is a king not available upon check in at 10 pm but available by 10am the next day?? After a long day of travelling this is not the best way to start your trip. Changes need to be made to this system.

Beautiful resort with lots of things for the kids to do. Everyone was very friendly. The food was excellent. Activities for kids were well done. Must go see Ixtapa Island right across from the resort. We would definitely go again.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Can't hardly believe the quality, and activities that were included. When they said all inclusive they really meant it!

I have never stayed at a resort that was this clean, meals were this good and the activities were so great. The mount of staff on sight is amazing. Courteous, always smiling and easy to communicate with. Definitely on our list of resorts to visit again.
