Great week!

Overall great vacation. Pool, beach and grounds were lovely. Could always find something to eat. Breakfast and lunch pretty good. Suppers not the best but some not too bad. Biggest complaint was wine watered down and washroom by pool always smelled like sewer.

Beautiful resort!

Clean rooms, fabulous nightly entertainment, good food. This was our second time at El Patriarca and we look forward to going back again next year. We have no complaints about this resort. The three restaurants were all very good as well.

Great resort!

We were really satisfied with the resort. The food was good, service was good and grounds were clean and tidy. It is Cuba, so of course it wasn’t as luxurious as a 4 star in Canada or even in countries like the DR. We were there for 10 days and we have no complaints. We did upgrade to the privilege services and am glad that we did. We had access to the privilege pool, premium drinks, a concierge and late check out. Privilege services also gave us access to the privilege restaurant, breakfast r [... read more]oom service and reservations for the à la carte restaurants. The restaurants on the resort are first come, first served, so being able to have reservations was really good, cause we didn’t have to rush to get in line nor did we have to wait. I would definitely visit this resort again and would recommend it to others. My only complaint was that there weren’t a lot of beach huts ave they were hard to get even if you were up early in the morning.

Nice people and good resort

The beds were not comfortable and the entertainment was very amateur. Other than that, the staff tried very hard to do a good job from start to finish. The grounds were immaculate and the rooms were always very clean.

Highly diappointed!

The only things nice about this resort were the grounds and the beach! The accommodations were not a five star and the service was inadequate. The food was cold and not in abundance. There was no entertainment except for the same dancers singing different songs in different outfits. No one ever in the night club and not a very accommodating staff!

Amazing Resort

My husband and I chose Ocean Varadero El Patriarca as our honeymoon spot and I'm glad we did. The resort was beautiful, the rooms were very modern and clean, the staff was all wonderdul and the food was actually quite good. I highly recommend this resort, I'm already looking to book again.

Average Resort -Not some where I would return to

The initial impression upon arrival was that the hotel would be the 5 star it was rated. In relation to other 5 star hotels I have been to....this is not; you have to pay for internet, you get one room key, you have to ask for basic things face cloth, toilet paper, tissue, water, no liquor in the rooms, strange beach towel exchange, want to charge for stolen/lost towel, no wait staff by the pool or beach etc. The room was outdated...I would say an upscale motel kind of feel. The grounds and po [... read more]ol area were well kept and the beach was wonderful Most of the staff was attentive and pleasant. However, a couple of the front desk staff were not. Not understanding the customer service piece. The other challenge that I will share is that from some guests and staff, the reception was not warm, lots of stares, no engagement...may have something to do with being a black group, the few black people on the resort (just saying)

It is what it is!

From a first impression standpoint, our trip seemed tarnished right from the start. Staff made it seem as though we were an inconvenience being there. As time went on, they warmed up and became friendlier, however this still left a bad taste in our mouths. The resort itself was well kept, beautiful grounds. The beach was not as nice as we expected in varadero, but we can blame that on the weather which was also hit or (mostly) miss. Some staff spoke half decent English, however many could [... read more] not understand, or at least played it off like they did not understand what we were saying. It was a weird vibe right from the start and it was hard to shake off for the remainder of the trip. A lot of bartenders seemed to cater more to the guests that spoke Spanish, and would serve them quicker and better than they would us. There were even times where we were blantantly ignored while resort staff were being served before us. The pool staff were great. Jorge and Lexniar the bartenders and the entertainment crew were a ton of fun. Meilin and Yaimara in the lobby were great, as were Hanney and Pavel. And the staff in the Italian restaurant were amazing. Unfortunately many of the other staff were unapproachable and evasive no matter how hard we tried to engage with them. Might as well not have a beach bar or beach restaurant, as every order was replied with a sigh from the often rude staff. Still, we had a great trip despite the issues. Would probably try a different resort next time, maybe a different location in Cuba as well.

Great Resort

The resort itself was large and well maintained. The rooms were nice and the staff were friendly. The food was good, and while we were there, the resort allowed you to go to the "a la cartes" everyday and there was different entertainment every night. Overall, a very nice resort.

Dirty rooms!we changed hôtel!

When you come in the reception is dark not inviting and the rooms where discusting...they showed us diffirent rooms and still was discusting.The pathway was dirty with cigarettes,no air conditioning in the main area to eat!not the 4 stars it says.!!!!

Fun and lots to do

Clean, energy, no lines for food or drinks, spacious, rooms large and well stocked with water and linens. Staff always helpful, and easy to talk too. Beach beautiful and pools clean, swim up bar awesome. Lots of umbrellas and lounge chairs.

For us it was perfect

Fantastic dream holidays - we had exactly what we were looking for in a vacation package: nice clean room, comfortable bed,excellent service, very good food, perfect weather, long beach to walk and warm water in the ocean, and of course pina-colada a volonte. Fantastic week. The worst part, we came home to -16C. Rats.

Girls Getaway

The resort is very nice. The grounds are beautiful and maintained daily by the friendly gardeners. The buffet and alacartes are excellent. The only recommendation would be more variety of beer and fruit juices.

Decent resort!

Rooms were pretty clean. Food was ok. Tourists were old. Water is hard to come by. Hammerhead sharks are on the shore despite popular belief. Beach is extraordinary. Tip the pool boy or you’ll be sorry.

Amazing Resort

2nd time at this resort I got the room I wanted but had to wait till they cleaned it ! The employees all remember me ! Bell boys all the same ones remembered me ! Telephones worked ! Food was good /Buffet perfect service nice new chairs ! House keeper good service clean ! Beach Entertainment perfect would go back again if the $ would be less

Slice of Paradise

Clean and well kept grounds. The Beach is lovely and water is clean and clear. Rooms are very clean and a/c works well. Food is what you would expect for Cuba. Tour guide Carlos to Havana is amazing.

Not quite good in some aspects

First time to Varadero with family😀 The resort is quite nice like the garden and landscapes, the gardeners were the friendliest always smiling and acknowledging you with a warm greeting. But we noticed how there are garbages around the pool and we didn’t see any staff cleaning or picking up garbage around. There were cigarette butts around the pool area and it has been there piling on the ground for the whole week we were there. We felt so bad we even picked up all the plastic cups by the  [... read more]pool since nobody cleans up, it’s like that everyday! The room is very disappointing, 😒it wasn’t very clean, I had to clean and disinfect our rooms (ours and kids room, my mom did the same in their room too) when we got to our rooms with Lysol wipes that I brought with me😖 also there were ants all over the bathroom floor (in all our rooms) so I figured how to get rid of them, I sprayed repellant all over the bathroom floors and it solved it😲 when I noticed there were ants on our bed, I made sure the maid change our sheets before it gets to our ears while sleeping, five days in and they haven’t changed any of our sheets so I had to request she change sheets. Food is not very good and not a lot of main dish to choose from! Very disappointing☹️ When food is gone they don’t replenish and refill, or they would take forever if they decide to do so😡 The beach is beautiful 😍 loved the turquoise water the one positive thing! We still made the most of it and had fun but we will not come back to this resort😥

Great experience

The À la cart Dinners were amazing buffet was ok Rooms are kind of small and ac is a pain in the butt but work ok for the most part our phone didn’t work Dinner shower were great fun and entertaining Lots todo on the resourt piano bar And mikes coffee shop were great as this is my first time to Cuba I probably won’t go back the this resort anytime soon but after travel to different countries I would return

Amazing resort

1- Telephone did not work for a week I was there they said due to Storm, but I am handicap and how to call the bell boy to drive me , non of the places except the front desk. 1- Tons of MOSQUITOS did not spay by the lobby 1- Buffet lots of COCKROACHES on the chairs and VERY VERY HOT no AC or Fans 1- BESIDES THE RESORT IS AMAZING AND ALSO THE EMPLOYEES WHERE VERY NICE TO US AND ALSO OUR HOUSE KEEPERS WAS AMAZING # 5113

Hygiene problem

The absolute worst experience . The place is a dump. Food awful, service awful , hygiene of entire resort everything from dirty pool to rooms to well everything. Everyone got sick and total waste of money. Don't believe any positive reviews .
