Yoga sets it above the others

The yoga instructors are excellent! The diverse offerings of yoga styles throughout the day assure that anyone's needs and capacity will be met. The tibetan bowl meditation, and some of the live musicians were a thrill. The massage therapist is very talented. All the staff are extremely friendly and professional. Too bad the resort owner get away with paying worker so poorly. The grounds and beach are cleaned every day. Lifeguards and security are vigilant, gardeners always working. Fine food ca [... read more]n be found, with superb service. The snorkeling off the beach is nice, but sadly the coral is mostly dead. Poor turtles, in ancient habitat taken over by humans! There is huge potential to shift from the beach binge client to the yoga, snorkel, sea kayak, and cultural or ecology day trip client. For the most part this is just another all-inclusive sun resort, with the usual shinanigagns.

Awesome resort

Akumal Bay was a great experience for me and my husband. The resort was very clean, staff were friendly and helpful. They had a variety of food at the 24 hour buffet and the restaurant meals were tasty. The housekeepers kept our room spotless and cleaned. Overall, great week vacation!

Wonderful Resort

Beautiful room and very friendly staff. Our maid Maria Elena was terrific and did an awesome job. I really enjoyed her towel art and looked forward to what she would create each day. The pools, bars, buffet and the beach were awesome. So were the tasty drinks. We look forward to a return visit (hopefully very soon).

Outstanding resort

This is a nice small resort, but not short on amazing views from all rooms, excellent service and great food. There was nightly bands or entertainment until about 10 or so. If looking for great nightlife this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for relaxing and snorkelling this is perfect.

Amazing resort

Everything about this place was A++++. The most beautiful place I have ever been. Food and service was over the top. Although the resort was full we never lined up for anything. Was with a group of 8 family which included a 9yr., 15yr., and 18yr. old. The small individual building pools were the best. Was only at the main pool twice in the week. Fantastic..Fantastic..vacation.

Hidden Gem

The best vacation ever! Spent 7 days in paradise of the Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort. Booked this Holliday with Wendy at Tripcentral. We went Transat Vacations and had no problems. Resort was amazing with all rooms ocean view. Food was fab and the staff was very friendly. We can hardly wait to go back.

Simply perfect!

we loved this resort! The grounds are kept pristine and the rooms are comfortable and modern. Every room has a hot tub on the balcony and we loved that all the rooms in this resort have an ocean view. The food was fantastic! The service was fast and the staff were so thoughtful,happy and kind. We tried all 4 of the specialty restaurants. Our favorite was French fusion ( we went twice) but they were all delicious. The nightly entertainment was usually live music and some nights the dance floor [... read more] was full because it was so good. Some nights was 70's 80's and 90's bands...hard to stay in your seat and not dance. The beach is amazing. White soft sand and the beach staff keep it free of seaweed that washes up overnight. Those guys worked really hard early every morning. The girls who bring drinks on the beach work hard too. They are regularly coming by to serve you. We swam with turtles and saw so many varieties of fish as we snorkelled in the water very close to the hotel. The overall feel of this resort is restful and calming. We loved it and have recommended it to many of our friends and family already since we returned home. Thank you Akumal Bay beach and wellness resort for a fabulous 10 day vacation!

Fabulous 50th birthday

Spent my 50th here with my husband, would go back in a heartbeat. This place was amazing, and I mean everything about it, the food the atmosphere the staff, Couldn't have asked for anything better, absolutely loved snorkeling with the Sea Turtles everyday. A friendly face everywhere you turned, always willing to offer their services. Aurora at the breakfast bar was so friendly and such a warm smile first thing in the morning, what a way to start your day. Can't wait for next year!!!!!

Waking up every morning to the view is exactly what I needed

Be as busy as you want or relaxed as you wish. We loved Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort to the fullest. It was nice to be all inclusive, no wait in buffet or for Ala cartes (4). Drinks were plentiful and your choices to the limits. Lots to do- snorkelling is A one, meditation, yoga, water zumba, swimming in blue warm waters with Sandy beaches and other activities - your choice. All within 5 min or less walk! Yes, it is an amailzing resore=t

I believe it was coming from the sewage, I think. I complained several times. After each time of my complain the smell disappear ... One day later the bad smell comes again. That was the only bad thing we noticed during our stay in this so beautiful resort. Every thing was perfect. We enjoyed our week and we recommended it to others. For us definitely we will go again.

Stunning beach, reef and turtles

This is a gorgeous location, I can't say enough about it...the resort stretches along the beach so whatever you do you are only feet from the water. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack bar...all within wave-listening and viewing distance. I was there for a week before the renovations and loved it...the physical changes are lovely...room updates, balcony tubs... Some of th [... read more]e food on the buffet is not as good as it was on my last visit... for example, the roast beef and potatoes on the buffet were cold, the fish was not overly enjoyable... I missed the entertainment from the former animation team...ie early evening activities and lots of laughter. They even did a black light theatre show one night when I was last there.... It is now a bit sedate...lost some of the fun aspect for me. It's wonderful for couples, families, grandparents, etc. And for people who want to snorkel or dive every day...you could not find a better location! The beach manager was very nice, hard working and engaging. Beach waitresses were amazing ...Drinks very good...Loved the one-man-band. However, the beach towels are a problem...on our last day we could not get a towel all day. Too many hoarders... and some saving shady spots but never really using them. This was very disappointing. I would recommend this place to friends but with the above notes...next time I go I might ask for building 1, eat at the 24 hour snack bar for all meals and live in my bathing suit. You will look a long time to find such a beautiful corner of the world.

Perfect honeymoon spot

This hotel was clean, really good service. We loved the size and being close to the beach. Our room was decorated with rose petals and a bottle of wine. We had enough restaurant choices for a one week stay. Would've loved to eat again at the Mexican restaurant.

Akumal...Akumazing

Once again another awesome trip booked through Trip Central. If you are considering going to ABBWR do it. It was one of the best times we've had in Mexico. No load drunken party just amazing people, food, activities and snorkelling with the turtles.

Five star resort

This was our best vacation ever. Everything was excellent starting with location, service, beach ... We can not wait to go back to this amazing resort, all the good reviews we read before our trip were true.

Honeymoon Resort

My husband and I had our honeymoon at this resort and we we very happy with our decision to come here. It's a smaller resort compared to others I've been to but we liked how intimate and accessible everything was (while still providing some walking for exercise :P). The pools were not that amazing but the clear waters and scuba diving with turtles more than made up for it. The food was fantastic. TIP: Learn some simple Spanish phrases before going (we had a lot of fun practicing our Spanish while we we there :)

Relaxing Vacation

My second time at this Resort, beautiful beach & the staff are so friendly and accommodating during the stay. Food is delicious. It is so nice to have the village of Akumal within walking distance of the Resort. I would like to return again!

Nice Resort - Great Staff

After much research, as an experienced traveller, we were pleased that this resort lived up to the good reviews. The spacious rooms were nice and clean and the food was excellent, surpassed only by the superior customer service. The front desk reception were able to move us to another room (small glitch) which was done fast and efficiently - but we were not expecting the complimentary champagne and fruit basket for the inconvenience - what a nice touch! Amazing spot

We loved our stay at this resort ...beautiful rooms , beautiful beach , beautiful people that work there and food was excellent . Cant say anything bad about this resort wish I was still there :( but can't wait to go back next year !!!!!!

Lovely resort, beautiful beach, we would go again!

This resort is a gorgeous, small scale resort located on an amazing beach with direct access to excellent snorkelling. The staff were friendly and accommodating and there were no line-ups for food or services. Great rooms, all oceanfront. Only draw back was the cigarette smoke that came in to our room from next door.

Relaxing trip!

We went with a group of friends in January and unfortunately we didn't have the best weather, but it was good to have a Jacuzzi on the balcony. The food was fantastic. Healthier options and always fresh food. The gourmet restaurant was the best. Mexican restaurant was our least favorite. Went to the buffet a few nights and we could have ate there every night. Good variety. The rooms were great with a great view of the beach. Never had an issue getting beach chairs even at 10am. Snorkeling was g [... read more]reat with lots of turtles. Lots of people down farther on the beach but if you stay on the resort it is nice and quiet. The service on the beach was a good extra as well. Never went in the pools so can't comment on them. Not much for night life but you can sit in the lobby and have a few drinks with some nighttime entertainment. Sometimes was hard to find a table and get service. We tipped so had a little better luck at getting service. Long trip to the resort from the airport, but worth it. Overall a good relaxing trip. It is a small resort and very quiet.
