The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Not a 5 star hotel

Attended a wedding on the beach - 10 min. walk to the beach - I called to reserve a shuffle cart as it was too hot to walk as we were all dressed up for a wedding, had to call twice and then I had to go out and flag one down. We were advised that shuttle carts came every 10 mins - not. Good Luck in booking reservations for the restaurants not even 24 hours I arrived I went to book and I was advised that it was booked for the week!! Very strict rules:On the beach - 1 particular security person would not allow us to turn the chair when the sun was on our back. Buffet restaurant (La Brassiere) would not allow us to go in because she accused us of being wet. We don't swim, it was sweat marks as we had to walk from the beach as there was no shuttle carts to pick us up!! It was 39 degrees !!

El Dorado Maroma: Amazing resort

The El Dorado Maroma is a fantastic resort. It's well managed, the food is great, and we were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather and and warm ocean. Thanks beach butlers for looking after us.

Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Punta Cana Sensatori Resort & Spa Review June 26 to July 3 2019

The resort was well maintained, clean and safe. The food was good and had a great variety of choice. There was always plenty of seating/lounge chairs at the pool and the water was warm and inviting. The beach was very clean and the sand was a light golden brown. There were activities and things to do all day long and into the evening. The resort staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Good resort but not 5 star

Travelled with a group of 17 for a wedding. Overall had a good experience. The beach chairs need a full upgrade as they are very broken down umbrella are also broken and theres no tables. Main buffet is also not great but the rest of the amenities were good.

I loved this resort. The staff was very helpful and nice. Which is always wonderful when you're in a foreign country. There were a lot of gourmet dishes to choose from which kept us full the entire stay ! Also a great variety of drinks to keep you going all week. The hotel staff worked very hard to make sure that everything was nice and clean for everyone which helped to make the week away from home a good one. El Dorado Seaside Suites: 5 stars!

This resort was amazing! From the food to the staff and service, you really couldn’t be treated more like royalty. The personal concierges make sure that you have everything you need and more, the service staff provide top notch quality service, and the atmosphere of the resort is friendly and fun. Many bars and restaurants to choose from, and fun daily activities and events right there. Definitely plan on going back!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Not happy

We paid for pool view and we received highway view. The staff told us that the hotel was full so we tipped the guy at the counter to “look harder”. Finally we got a pool view room. There was loud construction in the unit directly above us so my baby could not sleep during the day. The resort was obviously not at capacity, we met lots of people who said that their neighbors room was empty. The room next to us was empty all week. The food was nothing special. The doctor on the resort only accepted 150 USD cash just to be seen (The resort doctors are free in Cuba). I would never go back to this resort again.

El Dorado Royale: Never going back!

We stayed in a swimup suite with a salt water lazy river attached. The lazy river did not really connect to the swim up bar. To get to the swim up bar you had to cross over a small wall. That area seemed to accumulate a lot of dirt and green matter floating on the surface. It was not pleasant crossing over. Although I would see the pool boys cleaning the lazy river every 2nd day that area was always dirty. There was always 1 waiter and bartender to wait for the pool and swim up area so service was slow. There were several restaurants on the resort but not all restaurants were opened. This created a problem with over crowding and long wait times. The day we arrived we were turned away from 3 restaurants due to long waiting times. The day we arrived the resort had 11 weddings and this created a problem because the staff's priority was to service the wedding parties. If you do decide to visit, be prepared to deal with the concierge, they are always contacting you to try to sell you a membership for their time shares. There is always an upsell, from mexican fiesta night to wine and food. The standard steak is flank steak and tenderloin but only available at 1 restaurant. Lobster is extra. Standard wine is their house, anything else you need to purshase. For restaurants that are open for lunch and dinner it is the same menu and it never changes. The portion sizes were very small and my husband always had to ask for double portions. The room service was limited and very rare was the food warm, waiting time was between 1hr to 1hr and 30 mins. Their desserts were not very good and tasted bland. They had a Mexican fiesta night and were charging the guests from 45 to 90 USD, they called it VIP seating. I have never come across this before in any resorts that I have visited. Fiestas are always for everyone and there is never a charge. Our room was always cold and damp, we needed 4 blankets to sleep well at night. The rooms were old and of desperate need of an update. The lighting in the bathroom was so poor it was difficult to get ready at night. The patio door did not lock and the tub looked like like it came from the 80's. I have visited many all inclusive adult resorts and for this resort I spent the most and was surprised on the condition of the resort. There was always a sewage smell throughout the resort that was hard to get used to.

Fabulous place! Not a complaint with the exception of booking a la cartes. Too much time spent waiting to reserve tables. Most is booked by members so you are wasting your time trying to book a restaurant. Simply arrive and wait to be seated. It was frustrating to see how much space was available for sitting and how few reservations were allowed.

Azul Beach Resort Negril: Not for us

My husband and I stayed at the Azul Sensatori Resort in Negril in mid April. After reading so many of the other reviews of this resort, I find it hard to believe we were actually at the same place! I guess it all comes down to expectations and personal preference. This was not the resort for us. This was our 8th trip to Jamaica. Our expectation for our vacation was for rest and relaxation and escape from our busy lives. We got none of that at Azul. Our room was in block 8, second floor, overlooking the swim-up bar. So as you could imagine, during the day there was a lot going on below our balcony. After a day on the very busy, crowded beach, we weren’t able to come back and chill on our balcony in the afternoon due to the noise and commotion. Unfortunately for us, there was no end to that at night as the people below us chose to congregate and party outside their room until the wee hours of the morning. This resulted in very little sleep for us. We did mention the issue to our concierge and they offered to change our room but given that there are no rules as to noise at night we realized there was no guarantee that another room would be quieter. This resort has a lot of buildings on their strip of land. Everything is very concentrated with no real open areas or greenspace or areas for groups of people to get together and party….not a good set-up for people who want peace and tranquility! The food was just ok. The buffets were mediocre at best. The Ackee Restaurant was good, with a nice ambiance overlooking the ocean. We did not eat at the Hua Hin Restaurant due to allergies. The La Romagna Restaurant was excellent but required a reservation. We managed to eat there once, then made a reservation through the concierge for a second night, following the ‘48 hour ahead of time’ rule, and had a confirmed reservation for 8:15 on Friday night…when we showed up for our meal we were told they had no record of our reservation and they could not accommodate us….very unprofessional! We ended up eating off the resort on two nights. This is definitely not a 5 star resort, and definitely not worth the money. There are a lot of resorts in Negril…stay somewhere else!

Azul Beach Resort Negril: Great resort for very relaxed

Everything was very good. I believe it worth at least 4 stars for sure. Our suite was amazing: big rooms, huge balcony, amazing ocean view. I'm not a foody person so food was very satisfying for me. I do not drink alcohol but people who are into it told me selection and quality of mixed drinks was quite good. Also it worth to mention well-equipped gym. Selection Riviera Cancun: Great resort, family friendly

Had a great time, impeccable resort, helpful staff, many pools of all depths, great for kids. Food is great, allergy friendly, although some dishes were mislabeled or not labelled at all, need to remain vigilant if you have allergies.. Chairs/Beds situation is frustrating as there are not enough and they are all reserved by 7am, but you barely see anybody actually using them. Local bands would be entertaining. Beach is very nice but seaweed situation is quite sad. They do work hard to clean it up but water was unswimable for a couple of days.

This trip was a dream vacation , we went with our daughter and Son-in-law with their 8 month old baby. We were assigned a floor level accommodation, they had the one bedroom and us the adjacent deluxe room. They were both spacious and well appointed. fridge and safe and the one bedroom had all baby stuff brought in : Crib, baby tub, bottle warmer, stroller .. wow! The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Great family resort

We stayed for a week with our 5 month old baby and had a great time! The resort is well laid out and the pool by our room was a great size and shaded during the day which was perfect for the little one. The food is really good overall - particularly the sushi and Thai restaurants. Staff were friendly and a great welcome with champagne! Rooms spacious and well decorated. They provide sterilizers, change tables and cribs if you request one.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Great place to be

Everything was amazing here. The room was new, modern and huge. The unlimited room service was a savior for me and the food at the restaurants were was always fantastic. All the service was great, I have no complaints about any of it.

This hotel is perfect for those who want to relax. The resort is generally quiet with subtle entertainment. The food was average but often served at room temperature or even cold even at the a la carte restaurants.The best food was the restaurant Koh Thai, hands down. The staff are all amazing very nice and accommodating.

Excellent service, exquisite grounds and all round pampered.! Good choice of restaurants. Butler service on the beach is excellent and good choice of Bali beds. Nice choice of pools. Quiet, intimate resort.
