4 star at best

Booked the Privilege Ocean Front category. Not worth it! I think we are at a little bit if a disadvantage because our previous stays at Ocean El Patriarca where a privilege guest had a perks such as a private adults only pool and such. There was times at Vista Azul where we couldn’t even find pool side loungers. There was no control at the pools with people still in them hours after the 6 oclock closing, bringing glass drink containers in and such. The food was ok but not great. Not sure what  [... read more]the bathroom was all about but the shower seemed to be an after thought when they put it next to the bathtub with the drain in the main bath floor, kind weird. Definitely not 5 star, i would say 3.5-4 at best. If you are going to go, i would save money and not go privilege. The only difference is you can’t make reservations at restaurants and might have to wait for a table. I contacted the resort before travel to enquire about some flowers for my wife for our anniversary. Was told there was some special things the do for anniversaries such as a special dinner with a special menu and possible upgrades, nothing happened. They wanted a copy of our marriage certificate which i provided. We checked in late at night so i visited the privilege office the next morning and was told they were going to do something really special in our room, nothing happened. On a positive note, the privilege loungs was very nice with great staff.

Excellent Resort

Great resort. Clean and great staff. Great beaches. Food was OK, typical of Cuba. Only thing i’d like to see is that the a la carte meals should go by reservations. Line ups were long and there were no guarantees you’d get in by the time they closed. You were often bumped to the back of the line by “privilege guests”. Other than that, awesome resort.

Nice resort

Some things were falling apart and our shower leaked. Our bathroom sliding door was very hard to close and so was our closet doors. They did however fixed them both the day before we left. The staff and employees were terrific as is always in Cuba. The towels also smelled like stinky cheese, but everything was very clean. We would go back again sometime.

thought everything was very good---great landscaping--- buffett food often cold because of lineups---suggest some self serve micro-waves--entertainment at night was very professional---pool snack bar was excellent

Good resort

The resort was beautiful, well maintained with good beach options and pools. Plenty of lounge chairs and places to soak in the sun. The food wasn’t the greatest, as is the norm in Cuba, but we did find some good options, as there are several a la cart restaurants. The Cuban and Italian restaurants were the best. The Privilege package was great for getting the better drinks at the private bar, but not everything listed for the package was actually provided. Room service in particular was terrib [... read more]le, as you have to order it the day before and often times it comes cold. It also says you can order breakfast from 7-11 but wouldn’t let us have food sent until 8. Room selection seemed to be very random, so be wary of upgrading. Night life pretty much dies down after 11, but the one beach bar stays open later, with food and drink options and a decent place to chill. Most staff members were great, but some were not. For those who live by their phone, you will not like the wifi coverage as it is spotty at best. Overall a good resort, but not great.

Not impressed

Beach was far away with no washroom close by. Pool bar and lobby were nice but I love my beach time. The food was cold unless you stood in line for the pasta, stir fry or omelette😳 A la carte were on a first come first serve so unless you were priveledge it could be a long wait with nothing special on your plate in the end.

Just Ok

Hotel itself was clean and well maintained. The food was bland and cold the majority of time. Reservations at ala cartes were nor allowed so had to stand in line ups to possibly get in. The beach is on the adjoining property and not out front of this resort and although quite large there is about 12 palapas total so minimal shade and no kayaks or paddle boats.

Por and cons

This is an awsome hotel for Cuba. It is well diversify as you have 2 beaches and 2 pools far from each other. They were a lot of choice at the buffet and the servers make it even more better then the restaurant à la carte. They were really attentive to all our needs and make sure we were happy. And the staff all around the resort is amazing. The room was always clean and the lady was always checking on us if we needed anything. For the Restaurant à la carte, this is a different story. What  [... read more]we were eating seems to come from the buffet but with a touch of artistery. We have no choice than laugh at it. And the bed are really hard to sleep on. But, overall, this was an awsome trip. Easy to get around and the staff attention make it even more charming.

Big resort

This resort seemed to be new,about 3 yrs old, but lacks a lot! Since it is build on a huge rock, lacks a beachfront.... Shortages of beach chair and umbrella, not mentioning interesting sport activities/ facilities and entairtaiments😒

Nice resort

The resort was nice , clean , friendly . The views were amazing the room was awesome . We couldn't get on one beach it was to small and to many people but the other beach was terrific . The bars were awesome the bartenders were awesome and terrific with the kids at the resort . The buffet was horribly busy all the time the servers were running off their feet and very hard to get drinks at your table. Not enough loungers or shade at the pools . Great resort

Very friendly courteous staff, Hotel was very clean ,common areas very spacious Rooms very comfortable with good service Food at buffet was good but some difficulty getting into a la carte restaurants as they were small and unable to accommodate larger ggroups

Best introduction to Cuba EVER!

Beautiful view and grounds. Easy to find your way around. Awesome showers and clean rooms. Basic amenities(ie toilet paper) were plentiful. Nice clean beaches with lots of chairs. Snack and drink bars in convenient areas. Coffee bar was busy but was great.

Comfortable and breathtaking scenery and ocean.

Grounds of the hotel very well kept. Lobby and surrounding areas always kept clean. Beautiful pool with oceanic scenery. Lobby bathrooms could use a little more attention i e ongoing care. The staff at the lobby, bars, pool coffee shop, late night snack bar, buffet dining absolutely fantastic. Shows were good could use more improvement. However, some negative points 1- Reservations at the restaurant should not be only for priviledged guests, non-priviledged guests had line ups which were [... read more] huge and frustrating, it took us two days to get into Limoncello. I thought that was ridiculous. Staff needs to be more friendly in the restaurants. The only staff that impressed us was in the Caribbean restaurant. David in the buffet was amazing, attentive and always smiling. This young man made our breakfasts very pleasant. He needs to be recognized. 2- Room service - Stingy with towels, otherwise our maid was fantastic. 3- Lastly maintenance - we had no lighting in the corridor outside our rooms (we had 2) this we reported on the first day and till the last day no one came to change the bulbs, poor maintenance and we were always in the dark late at night returning to our rooms. We had to use our cel phone light to fit our room key in the door.

We would not return to this resort!! Not worth the money that was paid!!!

If you don't take the privilege package it is impossible to get into the a la carte's. Certain areas on the pool/ocean area you are also refused service if you are not privileged customer. The only entertainment is one show at night, which the dancers were wonderful but nothing during the day! We ended up in a room on the patio facing construction and the highway and was impossible to sit outside because of the ciment drilling, trucks digging, and highway noise. Even with our door closed we hear [... read more]d the noise! Room cleaning was good. Beach areas were not cleaned and broken glass, etc.. all over the sand. Ended up getting a foot cut because of broken glass. Even if you had taken the privilege package it would of not been worth it either. Very boring resort!! Last year we went to Melia Jardins Del Rey in Cayo Coco Cuba... and as far as I'm concerned this was the best resort in all of Cuba and should be a 5 star resort with all it has to offer. Workers were amazing, entertainment around the the clock, food was excellent, services were amazing!! I'm only sorry that we did not book at Melia Jardins Del Rey again this year. The only good point to this vacation was the weather, not a drop of rain, full sunshine! We went as a group of 10 people and again I repeat that all felt the same as I that Melia Jardins Del Rey had more class and more to give than this resort.

Wow. Amazing all around

This was the resort of a lifetime. Everything was absolutely amazing! My mom and I went on a mother daughter trip. And we went to this resort for a wedding. The staff from the bar tenders to the entertainment group was all incredibly friendly and we made a great connection with them. I would recommend this resort to anyone. There were all ages here and something for everyone. Very clean and the food was good too! A cafe on site with great coffee. The infinity pool was gorgeous the beaches were t [... read more]o die for and the swim up bar and the bar tenders there were our fav. By the end of the week a lot of the staff knew our names and it was hard to leave!

So So Resort

The staff was wonderful, as I've found with most Cubans. The resort itself was lacking. Very little entertainment, beach was bit of a walk with nowhere near enough shade umbrellas. They boast no reservation a la carte restaurants; this is because the "privilege customers " who paid more for their stay get first choice of restaurants. If you are lucky enough to get into one, you then find out you have to pay for your wine (all inclusive resort, my eye). We only managed to go to one a la carte the [... read more] entire week. The pool in front of the lobby was spectacular, we spent a lot of time there. Next to the ride in a 1950's- something convertible car to go to the Beatle's Bar (a must) in Varadero, the lobby pool was the best part of the whole week. There was one evening show each night, but very little other entertainment. One evening was a water show in the big pool which was excellent; another was a Micheal Jackson show. The dancer who was Micheal Jackson was phenomenal. The evening entertainment staff were amazing. Too bad there was almost no other entertainment. All in all, we made the best of our week there, but will not return. Last year we were in Cayo Coco , and it was just hopping the whole time. Ocean Vista reminds me of a place I would send my mother to.

Nice resort

It's a Nice resort , amazing view from the pool to the sea. Food was good for Cuba . Room very clean . Maby not enought activity and not enought of place with shade on the beach, but at all we have a very Nice week!

One of the best resorts in Varadero

The swimming pools were great. We all fell in love with the infinity pool. The chaise lounges at the main pool were uncomfortable. The blue ones at the infinity pool were superior. The staff were top rate, especially our Transat rep Angela. The bathrooms were very functional and eco friendly. The towels could have been of a better quality and the soap was not adequate . Our only complaint with the room was that the main bureau drawers were falling apart. The buffet was okay for Cuba s [... read more]tandards but a bit more attention to napkins, cutlery and place settings would boost the quality of the dining room. All in all a very positive experience and we would probably return.

Amazing Resort

We were a group of five and were there ten days in February 2019, we all thoroughly enjoyed the resort, from the friendly staff, to the great location (deluxe pool room) which overlooked two huge pools, and the buffet and a la carte restaurants below as well as the theatre. About a five minute walk to the lobby and the fabulous infinity pool. We also went to the little beach which was lovely. The food was ok, the buffet could do with a little more selection, enjoyed Mikes and the fancy coffees,  [... read more]the a la carte restaurants were quite good, liked the fact we did not have to book ahead of time, the Italian being our favourite, my husband loved the chicken wings at the snack bar near the pool. The room was lovely and our maid was delightful and very creative, loved the ceiling fan in the room and the elevator in the building. My only complaints were the brown chairs at the pool were very low and hard to get out of and not too comfortable, more umbrellas would be a plus and a couple more waiters in the lobby especially in the evening. Will definitely go back.

Great Resort!

The resort is well laid out with easy access to 2 separate beaches and pools. The resort was well kept and provided guests with various activities to participate in throughout the day. I would recommend this resort!
