Clean

The resort was clean and the rooms were huge. The entertainment staff work there butts off from 10 am to 2am. The pool was small and they only had two bars one by the pool and one by the ocean so there was always a line up. The staff looked down on you if you weren't handing them money all the time. They were very rude at times. The rooms were never really cleaned we placed and x on the mirror and it stayed there the whole time. there dirt on the floor that was missed every time. Some [... read more]times the maids didnt lave leave two towels and two face clothes. Sometimes there was just one of each left which did work out well with two people in a room. The pool towels were in huge supply, I don't think they wash they I think they just kept putting them in the dryer never smelled cleaned every time. The all you can eat buffet was the same thing everytime. The food didn't taste that great at all. Everything in the kitchen tasted over cooked or tasted like crap. the resort never had much to do there at all. just beach or the pool. You were always being asked by sales people selling message hair braids or necklaces like crazy.

Amazing resort!!

Really nice and quiet hotel. It’s a small resort so everything is close, except for the beach, a 7-8 minute walk is required. Food was excellent and service as well. Housekeepers were doing a great job!

One of the best trips ever

This has to be one of the best places we have been to. The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was second to none. The staff were excellent and pleasant to be around. The resort was extremely well looked after; very clean and up to date. We took our daughter and her husband with us for the two week stay and they are still talking about it. Definitely a place that I would return to.

Relaxing vacation

I loved the Viva the resort is clean the staff we very friendly and the food was very good what more could you ask for. There was a 4 min walk to the beach but we didn’t mind we needed the walk after eating all that food. The only thing we missed was a lobby bar other than that we found it difficult to find shade around the pool and at the beach there were no plapas my husband had to go to the room every afternoon to get out of the sun. Very relaxing

This was my first all inclusive experience. I found everything to be great. Rooms were very nice and clean. AC worked fantastic. Our frige was stocked daily and room cleaned. Im a picky eater and i found the food good. I did stick to pizza and sandwiches as other things didn't agree with me. Not a huge bar but was expected as its not a large place. All staff were amazing. My boyfriend and i went there to relax and enoy the sun. And we did exactly that. Only complaint was how people hold chairs with towels at early hours. A sign is up but people ignor this. I don't feel like the staff can do much about this. Its just nasty people!

Amazing resort!!

This resort was amazing!! The location was quiet with only a few resorts on the beach. Food was fantastic with unlimited a la cartes that you don’t have to make reservations for. The staff was very friendly. The amnesia suite was renovated and very roomy. We can’t say enough about the hotel and will be back.

Great small resort

exceptionally clean resort very good meals at buffet a bit slow with coffee, large rooms . staff were quick to respond to complaints had to change rooms due to air conditioning malfunction Luis from sunwing did great job the beach was my favorite enjoyed the water and waves vendors responded to polite no thanks a great spot would recommend to anyone

Lovely small resort with wonderful staff

The staff work very hard to keep the grounds neat & everything in working order, beautiful foliage, food fairly good, a la cart restaurants good, rooms clean & good size. Short walk to beach on a path beside a creek that was full of turtles & fish. Enough to do with the activity staff who were wonderful every day at pool, beach & evening entertainment. Short walk up the beach to the orange market and from the front of the resort turning left we were a 5 minute walk to the Playa Dorado shoppin [... read more]g mall. The only issue was perhaps there were not enough lounges at either pool or beach if you arrived late. Many folks were up very early to secure lounges, even though there are signs suggesting not to do this. Many lounges although with a towel on them, were empty most of the day, so we wondered if people were going back and forth from pool to beach?

Great value

Nice sized with less than 200 rooms. The Amnesia room was spacious,clean and well decorated. balcony view overlooking parking lot / road / golf course offered decent privacy. We had AC problems on three occasions in the same room so that was frustrating. The pool area and bar was nice. The beach area was okay with a decent bar and food area for lunch.

Nice resort but

This resort has good food but the liquor is sub grade. There are not enough chairs in the evening for people to sit and have a drink and talk. The beach chairs are very uncomfortable. Rooms are clean and staff are very friendly.

Viva Whydham V Heavens

Hotel was just the right size, I liked limit of 3 floors in any accommodation building. Food was above average. Only suggestions I have: - have more chairs available at beach - train young entertainers to be less bossy and abrupt with paying guests. I had a couple bad experiences, one playing bingo, of all things. The young gal told me to be quiet, she was the boss, and other such comments. Then half way through the game, she deserted the guests, went to a table nearby and was on her phone wit [... read more]h another employee. I told her I was the boss now and she should get back to work! Noisy around pool during day, could tone down the music and less exuberant Animation workers. If I heard "Oh, my God" being shouted one more time, I was going to ask God to wipe him out. ONe gal took a tally of how many times he said it, she stopped after 56!

Second time at this resort

This is our second time at this resort and it was just as nice the second time.Very clean everywhere.Rooms are very large and nice balcony .We went with a group of 11 and everyone enjoyed themselves.The only complaint I heard was that the liquor was very watered down and usually did not get what you ordered,other than that we all really enjoyed ourselves .Will return.

Good

The amnesia room - the room itself is great, really too big for what you need. Lounges - several days there were not enough lounges for everyone at the pool and at the beach. We used the neighboring resorts lounges at the beach. No one complained, but we did feel a awkward. Of course there's still the issue of lounge holding. I understand why you reserve a lounge, but you could often see towels on lounges that you never saw a single soul on. Someone has to come up with a better method for [... read more] this.

Ok

While the resorts meets all your basic "resort" needs. The front desk staff are very condescending and basically make you feel like you are asking for the moon. Which I think is a tactic to just make you go away...which ultimately it did. The resort is very clean. There is security at all the main entrances. The evening shows are too late, with nothing to do between dinner and the 10pm show. Food was ok, we certainly didn't starve.

Wynham V Heavens

This hotel was very clean. Once the staff warmed up to you it they were pretty fun, and a lot of laughs! The team at the Italian A-La-Carte were wonderful, and so was the food! We had our wedding here, and I could not have asked for more. Ambiorka was wonderful, she took care of everything for us and understood perfectly how important our day was to us. I can not thank her enough! The only thing I would say that was negative was we had a large group and we were not allowed to sit together  [... read more]in the Buffet or the Mexican restaurant, moving tables seemed to be an issue. There was also not enough seating for the amount of guests, it was very difficult to get a seat after dinner to have a coffee.

Great resort great time

Was a really wonderful time. Room pool and beach exactly what pics showed. Food good...no one in a group of 12 felt off in any way. Resort small which is nice and what we wanted. Clean. Pretty. Not a party so don't go if that's what you are looking for. Great small resort. Clean. Great good. Lovely people. Sunwing flights back and forth was flawless. No negativity here

Rooms were very clean and spacious...food fantastic...al a carte are walk in no reservations. Snack bar fresh and tasty meals. Entertainment team very friendly and busy...pinkie and betty boop were amazing with guests. Ocean sands clean.security guards very friendly. Could use more covered areas for rain days

Great Resort!!

Overall this resort is an Amazing resort!! All areas were well manicured. The public areas were all well looked after. The food was good. Only complaint really is that it rain too much and there wasn't enough covered space for people to still enjoy the outside. Need more one bar and one bar tender at night.

First time in Puerto Plata

Animation staff are the best part of this resort, always happy and smiling and keeping everyone active. Managers at al la cartes are all grumpy,never smiling and make you feel rushed. Food was good for most of them but you always needed to ask to get a refill on wine. Buffet food was always good and fresh but seemed to always be the same every day, they need to have some change and theme nights. Rooms were clean a/c worked good but they are very plain, no chairs in the room, I had to bring on [... read more]e in from balcony. The guys trying to sell timeshares or whatever they called it never give up, asked me almost every day. All in all we had a good week and wasn’t crazy expensive, we would probably go back.

A nice resort that needs a little more upkeep.

This resort is not a 4-5 star resort. It needs to have some upkeep to repair things like leaking showers, air conditioners that do not work, and better lighting. The food was okay not wow. The variety was adequate. The staff were great. Entertainment people were great.
