Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Needs Work

The main buffet needs some work. The furniture is very tired looking and should be replaced. We were very disappointed with the beach area. There are very large rocks in the water which made it difficult and dangerous to swim. The food in the specialty restaurants was quite good. Enjoyed the steak and seafood and Italian restaurants. The rooms were O.K. But given that it is an eco family resort we were surprised at the very large jacuzzi style tub In our room that, if used, would have been [... read more] a waste of water. It also took up a lot of room which could have been used for living purposes.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Amazing resort!

We had a wonderful 2 weeks at Sandos Caracol Resort. We were in the adults only category even though our room was close to the beach, which was very convenient and central. Our room was super comfortable and very clean. The grounds are so well maintained and stunning to walk through the jungle everyday where we saw monkeys, deer, iguanas, raccoons, coati’s (like badgers) and beautiful birds. All friendly! We would highly recommend this resort!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Good for adults and kids

This is a really nice place that is set up to be a super-fun time for kids and which has quieter kid-free places and rooms for adults only....and the rest of the place is fine for both! My hubby and I went. If my grown kids were younger, I would have taken them here for sure. Excellent water park with slides, etc. suitable for toddlers all the way to adults. The service at restaurants is excellent. The steaks at Riviera are divine. Oddly, the steak at Los Lios (sp?) in the upgraded area was thin and leathery. Very odd. The Brazilian grill is grand for carnivores and is open for kids later on so we adults can eat our meat quietly earlier. This resort is built within jungle, not over it. Lots of walking throughout. We counted 20 different animals and birds we saw. There is a clear commitment to its being an eco-resort. The cenotes are neat but not very big and I didn't think very good for snorkeling (we brought equipment, didn't use it). The general swimming pools are active and fun; the one pool for adults only is tranquil. AND they have a big warm outdoor hot tub for adults which was so relaxing. NO TIME SHARE! Really! We were not bothered ONCE while there by people trying to sell that. Incredible. The shower in our room did create floods until we used a potato chip bag to force redirection of the water, but I think this wasn't a common problem. It was not broken, more a design flaw. Whatever, no big deal. And at least on the ground floor, do be sure to turn off the bathroom fan when done or it will pull up fumes from the drainage system. Again, just common sense. Great place all around and I'm going again for sure!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Awesome familynresort

So many things to see and do at Sandos Caracol. Our family of 4 (kids 7&10) took advantage of cenote and river swimming, ocean and pools were great. Food was very good and night shows. Water park kids area was under construction which was unfortunate. Water slides were fun for kids, just a few slides for adults. Lots of jungle and animals throughout the resort which is one of the main reasons we chose it as well as many activities. Eco superior room with bunk bed was awesome. Sandos Cancun: Great Resort

We went for 7 days to this resort. It is great for couples, not recommended to come with children. Food was very good, big selection of restaurants, rooms are nice and cozy maybe lacking a bit of lights in them. Staff is very nice and friendly and always willing to help. The pool areas are very beautiful as well as the beach. The resort does have different night activities planned out each day, but it still seems like its lacking some entertainment during the day.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Good stay

The beach was amazing, definitely a selling feature of the resort. Nice pools, few different options. The food was ok/good, definitely not great. The room was nice, we stayed in the adult only section which I’d definitely recommend if you’re travelling without children. I wish there would have been more day time entertainment. Evening entertainment was hit and miss.

Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos: Great resort!

Great views. Amazing entertainment. Pools clean and good service. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. Only comment is that as soon as you arrive, you are greeted with a drink and are immediately talked into a tour of the hotel. We insisted we were not interested at this time, and only wanted to relax in our room. Another remark I would make is around the pool area and steps down to the pool dining area, handrails should be there as many seniors do travel to this hotel. I stumbled an [... read more]d lost my balance due to my condition, and a handrail would have helped me regain my balance. I was terribly disappointed that they didn't offer yoga or pilates classes on a daily basis.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great Family Resort

The hotel is a bit out dated but all in all it was great for families. The resort was clean and lots of things for the kids too do. Great options at the Buffets but the food could be a lot warmer was cold by the time you got back to the table. The transportation to and from the resort was luxurious Staff was not the friendliness as I have seen before except the pool area the staff there was amazing. Lots of fun activities for the kids. The main pool could be bigger

Arrived Jan 8 via Air Transat was due to land at 4 landed at 5. Got to the Hotel at 630 checked in by 830 We were starving. First mesl at the Steak place was amazing. Room was renovated. Bed was super comfy. Staff was great, especially Bell Boy and Golf Cart drivers, but ask 2 or 3 staff about the same thing and You will get 3 different answers. Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Was ok

got back jan 7 2020. To me this would be an amazing place to spend a day. I would book the sandos playacar and then visit the caracol for a day. Do your research before you book, they are very different resorts and this one is the caracol is clearly the lesser of the 2. We visited the sandos playacar on day 4 and spent the last 3 days over there by taking a taxi everyday ($20 one way and 15 min drive). You have full access to either resort between 10am and 11pm. Playacar seemed more organized, had more amenities, cleaner, much better service, a shuttle ran every 5 mins and will take you around the resort, a proper- decent lunch spot at the beach, a burrito bar, cupcake cafe an awesome teen club with video games, ping pong, foosball and the adult area looked amazing and clean! An amazing theatre spot, and one of the nicest beaches I’ve ever seen And so close to playa del Carmen. i think sandos resorts spend the majority of their money staffing and making the playacar a better place. people seemed happier here And although it was fully booked it didn’t seem too crowded. At the caracol, The resort grounds are Really nice Carved out of the jungle with lots of cool things to see. but everything is so covered and sheltered it is hard to find the sun. Swimming in the Cenote was really nice and refreshing and the rivers are really nice. The water park was a lot of fun - good for everyone but how much time are you gonna spend at a water park. The pool was pretty crowded And small the for size of the resort but otherwise ok. Can’t really see the ocean from the pool area and it was very difficult to find a damn chair! The beach was ok but you can’t really swim in the ocean because of the rocks. If you walk about 5 mins to the left there is a nicer beach at the azul resort. We went there for the beach everyday and then fell in love with the playacar. the entertainment Team was non existent. I think they spend all day in the kids club (which actually looked really nice) and make an appearance to the general public now and again For a quick game or something. The restaurants Food was ok but most are first come first serve. The buffet was terrible with so few options and we were joking that if you were vegetarian or vegan forget it! Most people were fighting over the Limited And not great pizza cause everything else was mediocre at best. They are clearly understaffed at the restaurants and it shows in food quality and availablility. We heard many people with the same complaints. Food sucks, long lineups, beach sucks, employees waay overworked This resort did not have enough staff or amenities for the amount of people to be comfortable. If you do go here know their downfalls and make the best of it!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Amazing Family Resort

Family of 4. Traveling with a 7 and 10 year old. We had an amazing time. There was so much wildlife around the resort. The food was good especially the A la Carte. No reservations required except for Japanese restaurant and no limit on how many A La Carte meals you do. The kids loved the waterpark. We were in the Family Eco Superior room. The room was very clean and recently renovated. The beach was rocky but the kids had water shoes so they didn’t mind.

This was our 2nd time at this resort. My kids loved the snack bar so much the first time that they begged to go back. Sooo...unfortunately, they got rid of this snack bar. It was so awesome to get mid-day snacks, but now you have to go to the kid slide pool/area - which is a fair distance away from main pool. Then there was a different system for the a la carte restaurants. You no longer needed a reservation for any restaurant except the Japanese one. Each night, when you went for dinner, the line-ups were ridiculous at every location. The staff worked their butts off to keep up, but they were under staffed for the amount of people. The Mexican restaurant was so good - but they had one staff cooking and the lineup for food wrapped around the buffet - which made it difficult to reach for food if you didn’t want what the cook was serving. The steak and fish place had great food but again the wait. Lunch and dinner had amazing food with lots of options...but no bacon in the morning except on Wednesday? Bacon and/sausage is a breakfast staple for Canadians! It was sometimes a battle to get maple syrup as well. We enjoyed the animals and the resort is a nice size. Not for anyone who loves the beach. Lots of shade and chairs by the pool. Night entertainment was excellent. Lady Gaga was the best show I’ve seen in 10 years in Mexico. Again - no issues with staff - always kind and attentive, I just think they need more when the resort is so busy. The staff handled a serious issue that happened very professionally. I really hate waiting in line when on holidays...and it is not just to be seated, it is having to wait for people to leave. This never happened the last time when we had reservations for each restaurant with sittings. Room wise - We were in the older buildings so a bit dated...like no working light in the washroom, but otherwise the room is big and clean. It’s an ok resort but not a 4+ - more of a 3.5-3.75 in my opinion.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Best Vacation Ever! ♡

We stayed 14 days in the adult only section in the penthouse suite. We had a large deck with a hot tub which we used each night. We had monkeys show up multiple times each day to hangout. That was our highlight of the trip. With the adult section, we had our own pool, restaurant and section on the beach. The service at the adult section was personalized and amazing. We became close with the workers and they gave us a nice goodbye when we left with flowers over our table. The food here is amazing [... read more]. There is a waterpark here which my husband went on and enjoyed. We found private senotes around the Resort and swam in. We are going to return again next year for 3 weeks and can't wait. Highly Recommend

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Good Family Resort

We were at this resort for my son’s wedding. The reason this resort was picked by the bride and groom was because children would also be attending. My husband and I did not have children travelling with us but we still really enjoyed this resort. We found lots to do on resort and even ran out of time to enjoy everything that is offered on the resort. I am a beach person so I was a little disappointed with the beach as it is rocky but with water shoes lots of people were in the water. The wedding venue was very beautiful and the food was excellent. Our favourite buffet was La Laguna but the best was the Riviera and Brazil. We loved our room. We had a king size bed (with a really good mattress) and a whirlpool tub. The maid was very nice and did a great job. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family. Thank you Sandos Caracol for our great vacation.

This place it self was great, the workers however were not the friendly type, I love seeing and feeding the monkeys and all the other animals, lots of mosquito, food was ok, the nightly shows were awesome, not sure if I would go back or not

Great place, good food ,friendly staff, spacious modern rooms. Wildlife everywhere which is very cool. Drinks are made well. A la cart restaurants are awesome. Pools are great, cenotes are gorgeous. Lots of on site activities

Great resort. I’m not really sure why all the bad reviews, we had a great time. Lots to do it was a very active vacation. The food is good and staff was very attentive. The beach wasn’t the greatest but it was still a beautiful spot just bring water shoes and you will be fine. The only thing that I would say is to bring bug spray it’s a eco resort. I will definitely come back. Thanks for the great trip.

The room was beautiful. The grounds were gorgeous. Loved seeing all the wildlife! Pool and beach were great. Beach was a little rocky but you could always find a clear spot to walk out. Food was AMAZING! Los Lirios restaurant was our favourite! Drinks could improve. More bartenders are needed at each bar. The 24 hour snack bar is sit down and order from a vegetarian menu. The hotel was beautiful and the time of year was amazing. The grounds were always clean and food was okay. Beach was rocky but love that they kept the Eco #1. Would recommend for any family with kids the water slides and kid zones were great

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Outstanding Experience

The hotel is impressive as soon as you step into the main lobby. Check-in was easy and room was ready when they said it would be. Room was as requested by Debbie - higher floor, ocean view. The Adult only section was a great recommendation by Debbie. No issue in finding chairs at either the pool or the beach. Grounds were clean. A La carte, no reservations needed, were a great highlight to end each day. The Cup Cake Cafe satisfied when looking for various types of coffees day or night.  [... read more] Will return again
