Average resort

The Hotel is average. Pros: clean grounds and rooms! Pools are clean Con’s: can’t get any bottle of water in your room, ask everyone and nobody will give you any, had to keep the same beach towel for the whole trip; 7days, Lots of mosquitoes, covered with bug bites Food is ok but very repetitive and a la carte are OK there is not 5 only 3

Pleasantly surprised

First time at the Gran Muthu Imperial. Only 2 bad things to report; one, power went out one day from 3am til about 9pm - the front desk was apparently telling people it was all of Cayo Coco/Cayo Guillermo, we found out a day or so later that was not the case; and two they advertise 6 a la cartes and there were only 3 open: International Seafood and Chinese. Good value

Our experience was all good: helpful staff, clean room (great shower), well-maintained pools, healthy food choices (we binged on mussels), and great Cuban musicians -- every evening in the lobby and often in the courtyard and the buffet restaurant. There was an 18-hour power outage one day and the staff pulled together to keep things rolling -- including candlelight dinner just before the lights came back on.

Disappointing resort

We went for 10 days, this place was rated highly but failed to deliver. The beach had a lot of coral so was dangerous and painful to walk into the water. Our room was cleaned infrequently or not all all and when it was, not done well. The drain in the shower would back up and we saw evidence of this in the hallway. The power went out from 3AM and was not on when we left at 12PM that day. Service in the buffet and bars was lacking if you did not tip. Food was decent but no spice at all. More than Expected!

First time travelling to Cuba, and this resort did not disappoint. While we had heard things like , the food in Cuba is, well, not great, we were pleasantly surprised! This resort is beautifully laid out, spotlessly clean and the food was good! The pools are amazing, rooms are a great size, staff are so wonderful. They try so hard to make sure things are exactly right for the guests. Special mentions go to Yadianis at the sports bar- she was so warm and friendly and makes a mean Martini! Aleja [... read more]ndro in the snack bar, Randy and Abel at the swim up bar, and Jorge at the lobby bar all remembered your name, what you talked about last time you saw them, and provided great service! Their tennis instructor Alexander was such a knowledgeable and welcoming staff member.. such an asset to this resort! The views are stunning, beach is great. Their evening entertainment crew really worked hard to put together a show every night. These people just want to make you smile! Oh and did I mention... they had poutine! I am already working out a date for our next trip...

Great Resort!

We were so surprised with our Ocean View room! Very clean, spacious! The staff was so nice ,,, the food was so good! What can I say? Everything was more than we expected! Thank you to everyone who made our week so nice! ❤️❤️❤️

Needs improvements

The hotel has potential, however needs great improvement in their services.The lack of towels, water and coffee in rooms. Had to almost to beg for the water. Also some of the workers were not fluent enough in English. The food was just average. Not worth the price we paid for.

Very Disappointed

Very disappointed with this resort. Food was not all that great, some workers there were rude, and housekeeping wasn’t very helpful and thorough. On a positive note, the tennis instructor Alex, pool bartender Randy, and a short blonde haired female bartender in the sports bar, can’t recall her name, were so awesome. These three workers were phenomenal and a lot of fun. They made us feel comfortable and very welcome. I would rate this a 3 star resort.

Gorgeous and amazing resort!

I stayed in the adults only Grand Muthu and everything was amazing. The staff, the view from my room(sea side view), the weather, the beach, the pools, the drinks, the food(a few things such as the fruit wasnt the greatest but over all the food was pretty good). Highly recommended! It deserves and holds true to the 5 star rating it has. ☀️

Nice resort

Well the hotel is newer and the rooms were nice as were the pools :) drinks were good but the service was not the greatest you had to get your own drinks and as far as the buffet food was concerned .. there were big line ups because the staff was not trained very well . There were some exceptions .. some staff were very good . The beach was kept nicely but got bite up ..so take your insect repellent :) this was not a 5 star as it says I stayed at 3 and a half stars in Cuba that were bette [... read more]r .. I would rate it a 3 the last night we were there the hydro was out for around 16 hours so we had no water so that was interesting I asked about 4 times if someone would be able to get a bucket of water to flush the toilet .. finally I was going to do it myself then the maid offered to do it ... the staff were pretty laid back but I must say the guy running the swim up bar was amazing :) the only way I would go back to this place is if I got a really good deal on it :)

Grest resort wonderful people.

Everything was great. Clean room. Great staff. we had a power outage which was not the fault of the resort. It was region wide but the staff did an exceptional job to make us all as comfortable as possible and make sure we were fed. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful Resort, Fantastic Staff

The Gran Muthu Imperial is a wonderful resort, the food was very good and the variety provided everyone with ample options. We did experience a few small issues, arriving at the resort at 10:30, we were told our room would be available soon. At noon we returned to the check-in desk and were informed it would be a little bit longer. We did not get to our room until 5:30 pm. There was no Air Canada rep to assist us; and this was partially the Gran Muthu Imperial poor customer service, but the main [... read more] responsibility was with Air Canada. Sunwing and Air Transit had far better representation at the resort. When booking, I'd suggest the other two carriers over Air Canada. The rooms were clean and well maintained, the chambermaid's did a fantastic job in keeping the room clean and stocked with all the essentials. The in room fridge was restocked 4 of the seven days, my something we really missed. The beach was beautiful and provided an excellent relaxing environment. The pool areas were clean and the entertainment staff kept the visitors entertained. There was a power failure that lasted over 19 hours; during this period, the hotel staff were quick to respond setting up outdoor BBQ for dinner. Power was restored at 8:30pm. A minor inconvenience. This resort is on our must visit again list. We've been to Cuba 12 times and this resort was one of our favourites.

Blue skies for days

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were nice, comfy beds and a great shower (except it leaked out onto bathroom floor badly). The pools were beautiful with lots of seating around them. The beach was a short walk and gorgeous! The food was decent and plentiful. Our only warning would be to remember to return your beach towel when you leave or they will charge you $30US. Bring your insulated bubba to avoid using plastic glasses all week!

Beautiful resort.

The resort was beautiful, very well laid out, everything was close by but not cramped. The pools design was perfect giving picture perfect views from all three levels. The beach was a little rocky close to the resort but a 100yrd walk and it was fantastic. Being a fairly new resort it was in excellent condition. The food became a little boring by the end of the week and the a la cart meals portion size was small. The staff was excellent and did the best they could with what they had, there  [... read more]was no laundry service so our towels were not changed the whole week and had to be hung on the balcony to dry which took away from the views as all the balconies had towels hanging from them. For an adult only hotel it could have used some night life, after the 9:30 show there was nothing to do on site and most bars were closed by 11. I know it was out of their control but the 16 hour power outage was not handled well, the staff was unable to give us any information and the inability to provide any toilet facilities during the outage was just not acceptable. The staff throughout the outage did their best to keep the booze and food going the best they could and should be commended for their efforts trying to adapt to such difficult circumstances. I am a little upset that no offer of compensation was made to the guests that were unable to leave. Some 200 guests lined up for hours in the afternoon to move to another resort and when it was full the rest of us were left to tough it out. Paying 5 pecos for a cab to take us to another resort to use the bathroom should not have happened.

New Resort

As it is new, there are still a few kinks to iron out. Overall, not too bad but can use improvement to become that 4 star resort that it’s advertised as. The people are very friendly and the service is great.

Amazing resort!!!

Excellent! Clean, friendly staff, great drinks, variety of food daily! (If you can have lemons next time that would be a plus!!! Beach a little small and a few rocks. I travel to Cuba once a year and this experience was excellent! Thanks for making our week vacation worthy!

Fantastic Place

Hotel was very clean. People are very friendly. There was plenty of food and a variety of it. Lots of fruit and vegetables. Our shower door leaked - the only issue we had. The beach was clean and the pools were sparkling. A wonderful getaway!!

Lovely resort

Very clean resort every building has ocean view rooms, buffet and restaurants are great, staff was awesome, only thing was they only gave us 1 towel for rhe beach and everyday they said they would nding one but never did other than that it is a great resort beautiful beach and tons of excursions available

Relaxing Luxury Hotel

Overall hotel was very nice. Food, well it is Cuba. We have had better food at 3 star hotels. Entertainment at night was not good at all! We attended the shows a couple of nights but wasn't pleased. The grounds are very beautiful, the hotel is new so it will need more time for plants and coconut trees to grow. Rooms are moderate, beds are comfortable and shower has nice water pressure. We were told to come back early morning so they could accommodate us, we were able to checkout 2 rooms on which one we preferred with the king size bed and the beautiful view. The staff were nice enough to drive me back and forth from the lobby to the rooms to checkout. Hotel grounds are very clean and maintained. Tip: bring cash! The resort does not have a bank machine. There is a bank down the street at the Daiquiri Hotel it is a 5-10 min cab ride for 5$peso. You can also walk on the beach to the hotel it's about 40 min walk. if you do go to the bank you will need your passport and the hours vary.

Amazing Resort

This is a clean and well run hotel. Beautiful rooms and grounds. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. It’s an adult resort but not loud at all. I would highly recommend this resort to family and friends.
