Catalonia Yucatan: Great Value, fun times!

Our first time to Mexico. This resort was a great size and with its sister resort, the Riviera Maya, there were good choices for food, drinks and pools. The beach is a little small and a little rocky. There is a breakwater, so the waters are typically calm for swimming, and there is a reef to snorkel right off the resort beach. The resort is dated, but the rooms were comfortable and clean. The resort is close to some fun spots to do excursions, i.e. Xcaret and Rio Secreto.

Catalonia Royal La Romana: Great vacation!

My husband and I just returned from a week at Catalonia Royal La Romana and wouldn't hesitate to return. We've been to the DR many times, typically staying at Excellence El Carmen but wanted to try the Caribbean side. We wanted great beach, good food and quiet relaxation and this resort delivered on all of the above. The beach was your typical calm, Caribbean blue water. The beach service was quick and the guys were very friendly. There are a lot of palapas and loungers but people do get up [... read more] early to reserve spots and although we are usually at the beach about 9am we could only gets spots near the back. We didn't encounter any beach vendors the entire week. We enjoyed all the adult side restaurants, didn't have a bad meal from any of those while there but can't say the same for the family side. The service and quality of food are not comparable. After trying the lunch buffet and Toscana we stuck to adult only restaurants. Our housekeeper Rosa did an impeccable job and our room was done by noon every day. Staff are friendly and you'd often hear them singing or humming while they worked. Grounds are well taken care of and your typical tropical landscaping. We wouldn't hesitate to return and have already recommended this return to family and friends.

Catalonia Yucatan: Didn't meet the expectations

Started with transportation from airport to resort. Have to wait 2 hours at a parking lot for the bus. For question How soon bus will come, answer was Very soon... Dinner reservation online didn't work

Catalonia Royal La Romana: Wonderful resort

The room was amazing! We had a junior swim up suite which connected right to the main pool and bar it was awesome! The food at the restaurants was fantastic for an all inclusive. Definitely the best we have experienced. The buffet food was pretty average. Staff were very friendly and worked hard. The beach was spectacular, clear turquoise waters and white sand.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Amazing resort

This was a very nice hotel. It was all adults so some may find that boring, but it really wasn’t. There was daily pool exercising and entertainment after dinner and usually an evening show as well. The food was excellent—the drinks were delicious and the service was impeccable. Being able to use the sister resort next door is also a nice touch as that’s where all the good a la cartes are. Lots of chairs available at the beach. My only complaint is their wifi … it sucks unless you are in the lobby or by the pool.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: A great time away

Overall this resort was nice. Clean, lots of food options and friendly staff. Coffee bar is awesome and so many places to sit and chat! We went in the beginning of March and the pools were cool in the mornings but warmed up a bit in the afternoon. Beach is gorgeous! If you are looking for night life/ entertainment this resort isn’t for you. This is why we chose it lol When checking out , get your agents number. Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Great Place to Vacation

This resort has it all! The beach, pools and garden area are all beautifully maintained. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and maid service top notch. The Restaurants offer a substantial selection of food and excellent wait staff. The golf courses, (9 hole on hotel grounds and 18 hole a ten minute van ride away) are well kept and challenging enough for the average golfer and duffer alike. Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Very nice resort.

We had a wonderful week at the Royal Bavaro. The resort staff work hard to keep it fresh and clean. The adults only section met all of our needs and provided 3 locations with loungers; a quiet pool, beach front and swim up pool. The food was excellent.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Great time!

I write this review because we really relied on reviews to book our trip. We travelled with a toddler and another family. This resort was fabulous. It is a medium size resort which I enjoyed. It was not so large that it felt crowded, but it was not so small that you felt there was nothing to do. The beach is great and so are the pools. The staff are great. We had an incident on our first day where our toddler fell into a swallow pond (my fault, not the resorts) and I was so scared of potentia [... read more]l illness and the on-site doctor walked me through it and the resort staff really comforted me in a time of high stress (I was crying lots, mom anxieties) The facilities are beautiful, clean, well-maintained, they are constantly working on the grounds. We stayed in the privileged section. From the looks of it, there is not much benefit for being in that section (maybe nicer decor in the room), so if it is cheaper to not book privileged, I would recommend the regular option. The place was clean. I heard horror stories about Hand, Foot, and Mouth at Domincan resorts, but luckily I was not concerned once I got here. I think because of the medium size nature there were many children but not too many. Everything seemed clean. We didn;t use the Kids Club, but it seemed really well-run. Our daughter was too young to attend. FOOD: We are vegetarian, I found the food was good. It had enough choices and I never went a day without having many options to eat. My husband felt the vegetarian options could have been better. I only ate food that was cooked, boiled, or I could peel myself (because I was very worried about getting ill), and I had enough options every day to eat, even as a vegetarian. My husband and the other family we travelled with ate everything, including meat and no one got sick. So, it seems I might not have needed to be that cautious. When we returned my husband and I did have a couple days where our stomaches were feeling funny and a bit of loose stool (sorry, I know, tmi, but these are the things I was looking for in reviews travelling with a toddler). But it was nothing serious that prevented us from carrying on our day Overall, I would recommend this place!

Catalonia Yucatan: Great resort indeed !

Great value for money ! I really appreciate the resort grounds ,food and service. Excellent food ! And the fresh fruits delicious - I couldn’t stop eating ?! All the service personal was great , too bad I remember just Esther name , server in El Mercado restaurant - hard worker , great customer skills ! And , yes I have to mention here , the quality of the shows - very entertaining ! Great shows! Gratia a todos ! Gratias Catalonia Yucatan !

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Nice resort

Grounds are nice well taken care of Rooms need some updating outlets need to be working Light fixtures need to be clean Vents need to be dusted Buffay lotta times of food was not very hot and basically the same thing over and over the pool entertainment was excellent. etc. Carla Pepe Kevin DJ they were all great very respectful and very nice.Etc .

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Nice Resort--glad we went!

We travelled with another couple and had a bit of difficulty at the beginning with rooms that had poorly functioning air-conditioning and ceiling fans. The front desk staff was quick to resolve these issues by moving us to other rooms. There were several other maintenance problems which were also resolved quickly. In keeping with these difficulties, it should be noted that some parts of the resort need to be upgraded and have become 'well-used'. We enjoyed the pool and the beach area and although (as noted by other reviewers) it was necessary to 'save' lounges quite early in the morning (before 8:00am--so save your beach towels at the end of the day!) we were able to get 'choice' spots under cabanas. It is unfortunate that many people chose to save spots and then left them vacant for much of the day---not sure how to rectify this though. We were quite pleased with the variety and presentation at the 2 buffets and the waitstaff was excellent! However, 3 of the 4 a-la-cartes were somewhat disappointing in terms of choice and food quality. We were really pleased with Mikado restaurant--both the food quality and service. Also, we found the baristas (great specialty coffee shop!!), bartenders and servers to be extremely friendly and attentive. Our biggest disappointment with this trip was with the service provided by Nexus Tours (contracted by Trip Central) who were responsible for our transportation to and from the airport. We found the process to be unnecessarily complicated and time-consuming. For example, when we arrived, we had difficulty finding the representative and then we were taken to the wrong bus. For the return trip to the airport, Nexus's on-site representative could not be found the day before departure to confirm a pick-up time. On the morning of our departure, we found the representative who at the time was dealing with someone about a refund for a missed excursion. After waiting some time, we asked if he could simply give the people waiting (there was a line-up by this point) the time our bus to the airport was leaving. He rudely told us 'No' that we would have to wait until he was done with the refund--which turned out to take in excess of 1 hour. A simple posted announcement or just providing the information we required would have minimized stress at the end of an otherwise pleasant vacation.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: A good place to take it easy

We stayed at the Catalonia Bavaro in Punta Cana. We went for 8 days, and had a great time. The staff was friendly, and the resort was well kept. We had some language barriers (which our booking agent mentioned at the time of the booking), so that proved a little more difficult than originally thought. We were able to communicate well enough, and the resort uses WhatsApp for all of their communication, which was very helpful. The food was good, but not out of this world. The rooms were nic [... read more]e, and the wifi was decent. We stayed on the family side which was nice. The only thing for us that we found frustrating was the room cleaning schedule and lack of fresh towels. We would leave at the same time daily when the cleaning staff arrived, and we would come back about 5-6 hours later only to be asked to leave our room so they could clean. Overall it's a nice place to go and honestly take in a week of sun.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Amazing Resort

Our stay was going exceptionally well until an unfortunate incident occurred: my children accidentally broke the TV in our room. The hotel charged me $800 for a replacement 45-inch non-smart TV, which, upon research, I found could be purchased for around $300. I expressed my concerns about this discrepancy and requested to discuss the matter with the manager. Regrettably, the managers did not make themselves available to meet with me. Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Amazing experience!

This resort exceeded my expectations! Resort is very new and I love the decors. There are many food choices and all the food tasted amazing! Best food I had on any resorts. Beach and ocean is nice but could use more shade. Overall fantastic resort and definitely recommend this to anyone.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Best Staff ever!!

It’s a beautiful resort. Not too big, not too small. Tons of options to sit back and relax. Didn’t feel crowded even at a full buffet. Lots of shade options as well as sun. The buffet food could have been a bit better but the restaurants amazing dinners made up for it. But the staff.. I would return just for them! Pedro and Oscar are the most fun bartenders you could ask for!! I’d go back just to see them again! Nobody is hounding you on the resort which was amazing. Catalonia Playa Maroma: Wonderful Small Resort

Rooms were very nice and clean. Food was good, however buffet hot items often cold. Amenities were good for a small resort. Grounds keeping well maintained. On the downside, lots of areas in cement walkways, were cracked or elevated with potential to trip and fall. I did trip on one and stubbed my toe. Although there was a policy and note on all chairs saying you could not place items and reserve chairs, many people did so anyways resulting in never getting a lounge chair in the morning as  [... read more]towels were placed on them. This policy should be enforced by staff removing towels if no one on chair after 1/2 hour in morning. Also, one morning there were no clean pool towels resulting in many having to wait 20 minutes for a clean towel to arrive. There were no bars or ramps in pool to assist seniors walking into pool.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Amazing resort

Arrived, check in was quick.Check out took minutes. It was our second time at this resort.Dining and drinks were way above average. The hotel room was great ,grounds were beautiful,washrooms always spotless and the beach and pool area great. We had a wonderful trip.
