Occidental at Xcaret Destination: A little piece of heaven!

This hotel was amazing! If you’re a nature lover and love to explore, this is your place! Watching the monkeys in the jungle was the highlight of my trip. There is a man made beach which is small but very well maintained. There was a lot of seaweed and beach was unswimmable for 2 days so we used the pools instead which are beautiful. Grounds are spectacular. Loved the buffet at the beach the best. All food was good. Drinks were delicious. Loved the Oriental restaurant. Occidental Cozumel: Great Vacation!

We enjoyed our stay at this resort. The ground were very lush and jungle-like, very well kept and beautiful. There was lot's of wildlife around, which was fun to watch. The food was great, with lots of options for everyone. The rooms were clean, and large, and had everything we needed. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing resort with not much to offer in terms of entertainment, than this one is it! Being in a larger group, we were able to make our own fun - but sometimes were told to quiet down :o( The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this resort to a friend - depending on what you are looking for.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Everything we needed and more!

My partner and I went here for our spring break. Clean rooms. Amazing grounds. Beautiful beach. Pretty solid food. Great service (shout out to Haiti at the buffet). From the moment we stepped into the lobby we were taken care of. Just wish our excursion packages could have had better half day options. We can’t wait to come back.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Third visit to Barcelo Maya Colonial

This was our third time staying here and we continue to enjoy everything about the resort. The rooms are clean and spacious. There are so many chairs on the beach and around the pools to choose from. The beaches are very clean and beautiful to walk along. We enjoyed all of the restaurants also. We had a premium package so we had dinner every night for 2 weeks in all of the restaurants. We enjoyed using the spa and gym as they were both well equipped and spacious.

Palma Real: great value for the price

We have been coming to the Palma Real since 2009 and outside of a few inconveniences have always felt comfortable there, the staff polite and helpful, and the proximity to Varadero main drag excellent. Our rooms although well used were clean and bright. The noise and smoke in the main lobby is often overwhelming when the place is fully booked but that problem lies with the lifestyles and behaviour of the guests, not the hotel. The bars in the two alternate lobbies, The Daiquiri and the Black a [... read more]nd White, offer a pleasant quieter environment but their hours of operation were too limited. The food quantity and variety in the main dining room was always adequate, however the alternate snack facility, the barbacoa , which we love to use, was too inconsistent in selection and hours. The pre booked a-la-carte restaurants are a pleasant alternative. The five minute walk to the world class Varadero beach is no problem and the beach bar a nice touch but the rugged hazardous goat trail leading from the end of the paved road down to the sand is absolutely terrible. It has been this way for all ten years we have been coming and would take so little effort to upgrade. Come on Guys ! Overall, I would recommend the Palma Real as great value for the price and certainly will stay there again when we return to our beloved Varadero.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Excellent vacation

This was our second stay at this resort. We chose to go back because of the amenities - lots of pools, great beach, great restaurant choices and wonderful food selection/quality. This stay, we experienced weather that was much more humid than our previous stay - as a result, the rooms smelled a bit musty and everything (clothes, towels, bed linen) always felt damp. This did not hinder our vacation at all - we just happened to notice it. 2 things to consider if booking this resort - 1) week [... read more]end concerts: the resort occasionally hosts concerts; these run Thurs-Sun (from what we could tell) and can be found on their website or through a Google search; the hotel fills up with concert goers around the weekend and you can hear the concerts quite clearly in your room well past midnight; our stay straddled 2 such concerts; it did not hinder our enjoyment of the resort at all, but our last night had rowdy hotel guests/concert goers staying in the room below us who partied loudly til the wee hours of the morning; when selecting dates if you think that might affect your vacation, try selecting alternate dates; 2) specialty dining: the restaurant selection is good and the food is great; their system for booking and accommodating guests is somewhat frustrating - we booked the restaurants we wanted on the first day we arrived and were given some very late (8:30, 9:30) dining times; what is frustrating about that is when we presented to the restaurants, even at our other earlier times (6:30, 7:00) the restaurants were half empty and remained that way during our meals; we would have loved some earlier times, and it seems as though we could have been accommodated (space wise) but for some reason, they only book their restaurants to half capacity (it was like this our previous stay as well); again, it did not hinder our enjoyment, it was something that we just had to work around. All in all, we would very much like to stay here again - it is a great vacation destination for our group and what we look for in a vacation.

Occidental Caribe: Great value for your money

Beach and pools were beautiful. Food was not bad, Paris was by far the best restaurant! The resort was pretty clean. Maids were hit or miss with their service and it didnt seem to matter how much you tipped. I think you get the most out of your money at this resort!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Simply beautiful!

This is a beautiful grand resort. Family friendly but also lots of space for adults to truly enjoy a relaxing vacation away from the chaos. The grounds were impressive, rooms comfortable and clean and the staff (everywhere) welcoming and friendly. Air Transat staff were fantastic from the beginning to the end.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: I would go back again in a heartbeat!

The grounds are lovely. The beach wonderful. The pools amazing. Sergio at the one pool doing pool aerobics is awesome. I think he draws the biggest crowds! The food at the buffets is plentiful. I took a video walking and recording all the food at a breakfast on the buffet. It's just under 5 minutes long! The fruit looks amazing (I can't eat it sadly), the breads and pastries looked good (again, sadly...not for me). They have pretty much everything you could want. I am on a very spe [... read more]cialized diet and so I had a bit of difficulty eating the same things everyday for breakfast (eggs and bacon). The restaurants in the evenings I had more success with finding more variety of what I could eat. I was not thrilled with every restaurant we tried but that was mostly due to my restricted diet. My sister seemed very happy with it all. The rating I gave for food is only what it is as I did not try much due to my restrictions. It looked good...but I think at some times some of it was a bit dried out on the buffets. The rooms were spacious and I loved that I could sit on the balcony. The pools right outside the buildings. The buildings having the open concept was very neat. There seemed to be a LOT of walking to get around the buildings to the lobbies. I thought this was great (the buildings are big and the property seems massive) as it offset the time I sat on my butt poolside and the calories of the food I ate. The entire property was beautiful. There seemed to be a lot of smaller maintenance activities going on. Replacing pool tiles, repainting marking on streets and sidewalks, removing what I am guessing were cracked ceramic tiles on the walkways.....but I thought this was great as well. Nothing was inconveniencing anyone as none were massive jobs that shut anything down. It shows they take good care of the property replacing/fixing things as they need it, not waiting for things to look worn and old. It took 3 days to get a extra blanket for my bed. Front desk referred to housekeeping. Either they didn't answer the phone or when they did they said they would send one but did not. On the third day I used my translation app on my cell and requested one...handed it to the room maid. A few hours later...ta-da!! I'm always cold and so needed the extra blanket. You can control to a degree the temperature in the room but when one likes it cool and one likes it warm....a blanket comes in handy. I did not come across many staff who were not helpful. The Grills....around the pools....the staff there did not look like they particularly wanted to be there and were not helpful. But everywhere else....enthusiastic staff and great service.

Occidental Punta Cana: Second time at the resort

Grounds well kept, clean, service could use some improvements, room was large, but need some work (paint, cracks in the walls, bathroom shower not working properly, sink not draining small thing that needs to be address, fridge not filled every day had to call front desk everyday day having said that they did come and replenish the fridge and the front desk did the follow up witch was nice but why not fill the fridge at the first place and there would be no need to call and give the custom [... read more]er good feeling and satisfaction Front desk staff this time around was good and spoke English well enough to communicate with Food could use little improvement as well and variety not too many choices to pick from Overall it was a decent stay as it was our second stay at this resort we might consider other options next time

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: PUJ BARCELO Bavaro Beach Resort

Our Vacation at the Barcel Bavaro Beach Resort was amazingly Awesome. Adults only. Rooms were spacious with one heck of a Super size King plus bed. Lots of storage space to unpack like you were at home. Our maid service was Fantastic We were greeted everyday with a beautiful smile, Beer, pop, juice, Water, chips, snacks were topped up daily. Guest Service was absolutely on top of all your needs/concerns. There were info boards, computers. Internet you had to buy The Gift Shop was Small. But the Market on the Beach is Humungous. Easy to bargain. Water Sports was HUGE. OCEAN FRONT WAS CLEAN. ENTERTAINMENT WAS ALL DAY LONG. THE NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT SHOWS WERE VERY COLORFUL. VERY TALLENTED People WALKING THE GARDENS I CAME ACROSS PEACOCKS. THE YARD WORKER GAVE ME PEANUTS THE BIRDS ATE OUT IF MY HAND. THERE WAS A TRAIN THAT RAN EVERY 10 MUNUTES FROM MORNING TILL 3am. The Buffet was huge with a great variety. I sampled foods I thought I’d never eat. Cooked to perfection. The pools were very spacious and well maintained. I cannot comment on the excursions. I focused on much needed relaxation at the Beach and Pools The Palace Hotel next door was Humongous... with so many stores. A Casino, AMAZINGLY BIG. THE BEACH HOTEL NEXT TO THE PALACE HAD A LOT OF ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. A PIRATE WATER PARK. IF YOU WANT TO TRY ANY OF THE CULTURAL RESTAURANTS IN THE PALACE YOU COULD BUT HAD TO PAY IF YOU WERE NOT STAYING THERE. WHICH IS UNDERSTANDABLE THEY ALSO HAVE A CASINO OPENED 24 HOURS. BUS RIDE FROM AIRPORT 17 MINUTES AWESOMENESS AIRCONDITIONING WORKED WELL I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESORT IN PUNTA CANA IT WAS PEACEFUL AND NOT SO BUSY AS THE OTHERS WERE. THE STAFF WORK SO HARD

Allegro Cozumel: Simply nice

This recently renovated resort was small, but had a nice warm feeling to it. It had most amenities that a larger resort would have, with premium brands to be drank!! The entertainment was good. It was relaxing, nice pool and beach area! There wasn’t a lot of different food types but it was ok. I am in a wheelchair and everything was flat or had ramps except my room and bathroom.. but we made do.. thank you

Allegro Cozumel: Great resort

Great all inclusive, staff was very friendly. Only complaint is the room size was quite small for a family of 4. Would definitely recommend. Beach is amazing, lots of activities to keep everyone busy.

Occidental Cozumel: Great trip to Occidental Cozumel

Thank you to Jarius at trip Central for assisting with our travel to Occidental Cozumel last week! Had an excellent time at the resort. Occidental is a smaller resort but we enjoyed the accommodations. Rooms are great and kept very clean. The beach and pool areas were great, just needed more lounge chairs on the beach as you had to go very early in the morning to reserve chairs. Very fun atmosphere at the pool and beach. Food was good,small buffets but you could always find something t [... read more]o eat. We went to 2 of the 3 restaurants and found the food was just ok, not spectacular. Rented jeeps through the hotel and toured part of Cozumel and then did a snorkeling trip which was great. Had a great vacation at Occidental.

Palma Real: Not that great

The hotel is old and run down. The rooms were clean but smelt musty. The grounds were nothing special and the Quiet pool had green moss growing on the bottom. It's a place where the Cuban's that have moved away come to visit and spend time with family and friends. It was packed and if you were not Cuban you did not get very good service at the buffet or bar. Beach was beautiful but not enough chairs. I wanted to change resorts but could never find my Air Canada Rep, he was their a 1/2 hour a day [... read more] but I could never seem to locate him. The location of the resort to down town is great, you can walk all over the place. I would Not Recommend this place.

Occidental Cozumel: Great resort!

Occidental is a small resort, which I loved! We have been to other resorts that were so big one needed a tram to get around! Great nightly entertainment and wonderful staff. You can book many activities around the island right at the resort. Love all the vegetation and the iguanas and coatis are everywhere. Only two drawbacks - the beds are quite hard and we didn't have hot water in the shower for three nights.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Meh.

Rooms were prob the only good thing about this resort. Food was sub par, bar wasn’t stocked daily unless called and requested. We got cut off our bracelets in morning of last day and was told our cut off was 1pm for food and drink. No one spoke proper English Very loud shows in main pool area every night and a party boat runs nightly next door until 2am. Helicopter, cruise ships and seadoos cruising by beach all day with black exhaust and diesel in water. Beach is clean in morning with ti [... read more]de in and dirty yellow weed water in afternoon. All bars close at 11 during week and midnight on weekend unless your staff them they party all night. Room service is an extra fee $10 per soggy plate of fries and soggy sandwiches. Restaurants you have to book daily in morning with limited spots even though they’re empty when you go inside. Spend the extra money and go to a better 4 or 5 star. This I’d rate a 3-3.5. Occidental Punta Cana: Good resort!

Very clean resort; from the grounds, to the rooms and pool areas. Food and service was decent. Staff were friendly enough, but communication was difficult due to language barrier. Beach was also very clean ans staff were in top of cleaning up empty cups etc

Allegro Cozumel: Wonderful resort

Every part of this vacation went smooth. The resort had everything the staff was amazing food and drinks were delicious. The upgrade of room was worth the money. Upgrades ment we had private check in and access to self sever food and bar and a pool shared with just the other upgraded rooms. We were treated exceptionally well. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Allegro Cozumel: I thought the place was great

I was happy with the premium upgrade rooms benefits The private lounge and pool was great. The staff was amazing . The service was super. The buffets were organized and again the staff was incredible. I didn't have an empty plate or an empty drink for no more than a minute when a staff member would be right there to get me a drink and take my dirty plate away. Overall great great great
