Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Had a really great time!!!

Let's see I've been to many different resorts in Cuba and this one stands out,everything was really good ,food ,entertainment,staff,wonderful beach and great service they really work hard to enhance your vacation experience.I would return.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Relaxing vacation

Our adult family of 4 just came back June 10th 2019 from Laguna Azul. This resort from the exterior is stunning! Beautiful open and modern lobby, picturesque main pool and postcard beautiful beach. We had excellent weather- we went for the sun and boy, did we get some! We did an excursion - Catamaran/Snorkelling. This was a fun trip off the resort but the coral reef was nothing to marvel at; within 5 minutes I had my mask and snorkel off and was just swimming around enjoying the refreshing water [... read more]. Excursion stops for a buffet (great food) and beach time at Cayo Blanco...WOW! Beautiful beach and soft white sand. They have a mammal there called the tree rat- friendly and mostly looking for some food, water and shade! Happy to provide for them being an animal lover :)  The rooms had a mildly stale odor when we first entered and there were minor issues between the rooms- no toilet paper, really unstable fan, small leak from the mini fridge. The resort gives you blue beach towels to use poolside and we had none. Elevators frequently out of service around the resort. Wifi not included- you buy a 1 CUC wifi card which gives you 60 minutes of Wifi and it's mostly only accessible in the lobby not the rooms. The biggest trick I can share is to tip them/gift the staff including maids and buffet staff early on- our service had a noticeable difference afterwards! I know its backwards though...we normally tip after a meal or service since the amount is based on quality of work but just go with it. The food was plentiful but average. I grumbled a little despite being the most easy going with that but then I heard about other resorts really showing signs of the food shortage and sometimes only having rice etc and now I'm really grateful for what we had! Book the a la cartes, I enjoyed the experiences especially Japanese.  Overall, would I return to Varadero- maybe for a cheap and cheerful getaway and I would likely return here but otherwise I may try to upgrade to another country with more modern features. I came for rest and relaxation though and I am very pleased to say my vacation here delivered.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Absolutely Beautiful

This resort is very well maintained. The food was good, the pool was good and the activities were fun. The nightly entertainment want as entertaining as other resorts but that's just an hour of your time. They always have good animals for you to munch on and the staff take care of you. I do find that they are expectant of tops but when you find out how much they make per day/month you become more willing to give. I went during a low season and it wasn't too busy or too packed. I wish the main buffet was closed because it makes things more hygienic that way but it was still good. There was also a lot of wind at the beach so the water want that great to swim in.

Beach was amazing that’s why you go to Cuba!! Hotel was run down ... ran out of pool towels .couldn't exchange for fresh ones .. had to change rooms 3x ... food was ok ... didn’t go hungry .. shows were entertaining.. kids enjoyed them ...

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Nice resort, but....

Hotel was beautiful all around. Unfortunately my wife and I were drugged by Eric the pool bartender, with the intention to rob us. Luckily our kids saved us and got us to our room. The management are trying to sweep it under the rug but I am pursuing this issue to hopefully help bring awareness to this issue

Resort clean, but rooms a little dated, staff friendly, and helpful, Selection of Food good, Coffee maker but no coffee ? Pool area clean, bar staff good, some better than others Entertainment in lobby at night excellent, great selection

Great resort. Amazing Beach. Very relaxing. Went with my wife for 7 days ending June 1 2019. Looks like we hit a transitional week as the hotel was changing from Winter staff to Summer staff, hotel was only about a 1/3 full. Service was a bit slow and unorganized when we 1st arrived, but seemed to get better as the week progressed. Food for the most part was good, plenty of variety at the buffet. Beach snack bar was disappointing - only serving pizza, fries and hot dogs, hit and miss on bbq  [... read more]chicken. Due to the summer restrictions, not all the Al’Carte restaurants were open. We ate at the Japanese, Italian and French, Food was excellent and a welcome treat away from the buffet We also choose to upgrade for a “Special Beach Dinner, 4 courses, lots of food. Service and atmosphere was excellent. Rooms were large and had everything required, bed was super comfortable, but the room and fixtures were looking a bit tired. We come to Cuba for the beach. This resorts beach did not disappoint, soft sand warm water. Love to see a upgrade to the plastic lounge chairs. Weather was fantastic, overall a very relaxing trip

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: You can try it

I stayed here May 19th 30th 2019. Front desk service was excellent and professional . Not every resort can see this. Customer service good but get a TV remote control what it really works takes 5 days. That's okay I get only one channel by manually I did not go to Guillermo watch TV in the room. It is a older resort the buildings are good shape. Room always clean nice no complain. Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Beautiful property

Great stay, the staff was really nice and helpful, what I didn't like was this smell of swer in my room 3420 , the smell was a turn off , I did address it with one of the staff and the smell when away that day, but two later the smell return , it was time for me to leave so I didn't request to be move , outside of that everything was very good

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Beautiful!

We really enjoyed ourselves. Loved all the cute little creatures roaming around! The staff was lovely as well. Our room was clean and we had no complaints. The buffet was to die for if you like 1000 choices. The lobby was our favorite part. Mellow, relaxing with birds and peacocks walking by. We felt very safe there.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: 7th visit not disappointed

We have returned to this resort for our 7th visit. The 1st thing that happened when we arrived at the hotel. We were met by management, to welcome us back. We had requested a specific room and early check in. Both these request were met. The Hotel staff are one of the main reasons we return. Very helpful and happy to see you. Our room faced the beach and was taken care of quite well by housekeeping. The beach is cleaned every Morning. ---------- PROS - SMALL RESORT let me move around with my limited mobility. I saw many other people with canes, young and old who also appreciated that everything was very close to the room - AMAZING LOCATION. This hotel is on the bus tour that brings you to Playa Pilar and to other resorts for shopping and the open top double decker is fun to ride on it's own. - LOVELY STAFF (those that hadn't turned complacent) were amazing. It's always humbling to meet people who work so hard in t [... read more]he service industry (six days a week) and still manage to be kind and genuinely smiling and friendly. - TOP NOTCH ENTERTAINMENT, every member of the entertainment team was always smiling and happy, ready to joke and play and bring you into some fun play time. - GOOD RESTAURANTS. We ate at the Cuban and Mexican restaurants. The staff was very gracious and accomodating and allowed us to be seated early on both nights. ---------- CONS - SHOWING WEAR AND TEAR. Nothing stays broken; everything that needs to be repaired seems to be. There was a brand new part of the boardwalk between the beach restaurant and the beach, but another part of it was corded off because it had collapsed at some point. The rails on our balcony were secure and looked like they are getting the maintenance they need to be safe. On the other hand, small things that have had constant wear and tear aren't being replaced (bathroom mirror in our room), the coffee machine in the lobby is missing buttons and knobs and the one at the pool bar was broken on two occasions while we were there. - COFFEE (espresso/cafe con leche) was one of the major disappointments. It was really hit and miss depending on who served it. It was stretched out and terribly weak at the lobby bar but much better at the pool bar. - CLEANLINESS suffers terribly at this resort. Our room was always clean but I think they must be short staffed as the walls in the ladies stalls in the lobby bathroom are desperately in need of a good cleaning, and the same spots and streaks that were plain to see on my first day there (beside and behind the toilet and under the toilet paper dispenser) were still there one week later. Given that they don't notice or attend to the areas around the toilet I'm pretty sure nobody is going around cleaning doorknobs or toilet latches. Bring hand sanitizer. - POLITICS among the staff members. Petty things like a bartender making a point of showing his colleague that he was putting the tip I gave him in a jar and a waitress looking around before accepting a tip. - FOOD was probably the biggest reason I won't recommend this place. At every meal my husband and I wondered if what we were going to eat would make us sick. Stick to the food made to order at the grill. My husband saw a cockroach hanging around the prepared salads the third night we were there and not long after I picked out a piece of cucumber that had fuzzy mold on it. We both flew home with mild diarrhea and I still don't feel completely recovered (2 days later) - NOISY AND BRIGHT in the room at night. We were put in a room right above the lobby so we had front row for everything that was going on in the lobby from 8 pm till at least midnight, including the typical party people noise as well as the marching band that trooped everyone from the lobby to the show one night. I considered asking for a different room but didn't want to risk spending the energy moving to another room that was dirty or had something broken so we stayed put and dealt with it. The brightness was from a gap around the door that ranged from between 1/4" at the top and sides to at least 1" at the bottom and from the air conditioning unit (that we were never able to adjust) ---------- OTHER - SUPER WINDY - we learned the reason this place was great for kite surfing - the wind was incessant and strong. One of the staff told us that May is typically windy so this might not be the case at other times of the year but after a day or two of the sound and feel of constant wind you start to yearn for silence and the sound of ocean waves. This was my fifth time to Cuba and it definitely won't be my last but I'll be sticking to the newer 5 star resorts from now on.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: One of Cuba's best

The last resort I went to in Cuba had a peeling pool, housekeeping who took the towels and didn't return, did not give toilet paper.. This place was amazing!! Clean, updated. Food was great, plentiful and there were vegetables! Bacon every day! Coffee always better at the bar. Always a lounge chair at the pool and at the beach. People always friendly and helpful. Shows were good. highly recommend

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Great resort for families...

The resort was beautiful however, some rooms are not ideally located as we eventually had to upgrade in order to move to a more quiet location due to the Theater's loud shows until 11:00pm. We were located only steps away and it was very loud. We are accustomed to 'Adult Only' resorts and while we were expecting a few smaller children, we weren't prepared for what awaited us. Way too many children, even many newborns which surprised us. Having the entire kids club being brought to our location  [... read more]at the pool daily was a bit of a nuisance, but given the state of the beach with the Sargassum problem, I suppose they didn't have much choice. All in all, the resort was great and the location ideal for a stroll to Playa del Carmen's 5th Avenue which we enjoyed. Sadly, the beach was inundated with seaweed and generally not appealing for swimming but that didn't hinder the trip in any way except that it would have been nice to dip in along the way to Playa as it was a very hot walk. The animals were lovely and the service was the best among all the resorts I've been to... All in all, my partner and I agreed that had this resort been Adults Only, it would have been the "BOMB".

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Gorgeous place with some minor concerns

This is an amazing hotel with gorgeous grounds and one of the best beaches. Honestly I don't understand reviewers who behave like queens. Taking to account the price that is asked I would definitely come here again and recommend it to others. If you come here to relax and enjoy the place you will be really surprised but if you come here with an "inspection" it is better to stay at some other place in a different country and for a different price. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Very good for the price resort

The grounds are beautiful. It's very green as weĺl. There are palm trees and a lot of blooming flowers The rooms are big and there is everything that you may need and in good condition. Public areas are clean and well serviced. The beach itself is nice exept that there is a vegetation in the water . The hotel buildings are facing the beach and the view is awesome.

Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: Perfect vacation

Went there May 6, 2019. Smaller resort, but perfect. 15 minute bus ride from the airport. Beautiful beach/sand. Clear ocean water with no weeds/grass. Food is awesome, especially if if you like the local food - jerk chicken, oxtail, curried chicken, curried goat, beef & chicken patties and much more. The non-local/standard resort food is very good as well (pizza/pasta, turkey, roast beef, grilled steak, chicken, burgers etc). All the staff are great. They want to return here instead of exploring other destinations or resorts.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Fantastic first trip to an Iberostar Resort

We loved everything about this resort. The entertainment staff (Star Freibds - Alejandro, Paula, Carlos, Edwardo, and Oto) were fantastic. The food, the jungle, seeing the different animals and resort staff all were amazing. The maintenance crew is out very early in the morning cleaning the beach every day and throughout the day. The resort is very clean and beds were comfortable. It’s about a 30 minute walking distance to 5th Avenue shops. The resort is in a great location. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice resort

Rooms really close to beach,very nice beach !! Grounds and pools well kept ..resort rooms could definitely be upgraded a bit outdated..food not so great but found some things tolerable enough to eat.friendly staff.enjoyed the outdoor area off main entrance..plenty of nighttime things to do..getting extra things brought to room ie extra toilet paper ,water..seemed to never be a priority when asking.would be written down but that would be as far as it went..with that being said it was overall a ni [... read more]ce resort ,beach was amazing ,water warm and clean and would definitely recommend and would go back.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Fantastic Resort

We loved this resort!!! The food & staff were fantastic we would recommend it The customer service was exceptional, cleaning staff were great Always friendly and helpful anywhere in the resort always a smile We will go back in the near future
