Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Ok resort for the price

Went there as a last ,minute, the resort has a nice beach and is right next ti a bunch of bars and restaurants Stayed at the Bungalow section which I really liked better than the main building If you've been to Cuba before it's pretty much what you expect, I did like the pork roast on the Saturday If you have little kids there is a shallow beach next to the main one that's perfect for babies/toddlers/non swimmers My only complaints are the public washrooms that are just horrendous i [... read more]n terms of cleanliness, the various bars close at random hours or stop serving certain drinks (once you figure out the system you are fine) and the lineup at reception is always HUGE(why a shift change when loads of people check in / out?) Overall a good basic Cuba resort, perfect for sun and fun

Brisas Guardalavaca: Great value and servixe

We had a great experience starting with the staff welcoming us dancing Guantanamera to the food and drinks(everything for every taste). The beach is awesome, we always had loungers available and the staff was very friendly. The only recommendation is to prepare with patience if you are going to order pizza from the snack bar, it goes very slow.... Also as non-smokers we found too many people around smoking in all the places, there should be designated areas so non smokers can enjoy the beach an [... read more]d pool areas without being smoked on.

Brisas Covarrubias: Miserable

Very miserable we had to bag for an extra shampoo or a towel very remote place Anti sanitary food Long waits to get into lunch room Not willing to go there again....................................!!!!!!!!

Playa Costa Verde: Not the best place I've stayed

The hotel is very spread out and you have to walk quite a ways to the beach, to the rooms, to the main lobby. The beach is crowded as all the hotels along that stretch use the beach. The pool is large but since there is only the one, sometimes it gets crowded. The swim up bar has only about 8 stools, mostly occupied by kids or young people throwing back drinks. There are lots of sand flies, or no-see-ums. We got bitten. The rooms are just average. The bathroom stunk of sewage most of the  [... read more]time. The A/C worked well and kept the room cool. The bed was just ok. The room is outdated with crooked pictures, curtains lacking hooks and worn bedspreads. The food gets old after a day or two. The same old thing day in and day out, mostly Cuban style in sauces. However, we were there for Christmas and New Years and they put on a wonderful spread for that. The alacarte restaurants - Italian, Japanese and Cuban were all not as expected. The food is very very salty and I had to ask in the Japanese restaurant to hold back on the salt. The 24 hour restaurant has only chips and burgers and they are not good. If you like alchohol, this is a good place, the booze flows freely. The music by the pool is very loud and the entertainment is mostly for kids and is loud, loud. I will not go back to this resort.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Really nice 3 stars resort!

The beaches are kept really nice, clean and there are 2 privates beaches.. Big hotel with 4 swimming pools. The Villas are the best rooms and very close to the beach, snack bar and pool. The bungalows are a little far. The service was good and better when you tip. For the price and the stars i found the hotel amazing. Overall good!!

Playa Pesquero: Large beautiful resort

As with any all inclusive resorts there are some good and not so good,,,, first the good. , had no problem communicating with staff in English,well kept grounds ,, only heard of some problems from other guests about their rooms but they where on the 1000 and 2000 side ,,,we stayed in the 5700 building and had no problems but the decor is dated but clean,, a huge pool or should I say 2 pools separated by a bridge 1 side with swim up bar and a little more adult noise and fun ,, the other side more [... read more] shallow for the kids to play would not say it is less noisie depending on what kids are there,, and there was plenty of chairs and shade well spaced out,, Now the not so good,,,the pool deck is a little worse for wear and can be a little ruff on bear feet but not too bad,, the beach is ok but if you have water shoes I would take them,, early morning and night the sand flees are bad, and if you want a loungers in the shade you have to go early 7am or earlier to get them,,,, the food is not bad at the buffet it is not your tippacel buffet,, salads fruits cheeses and cold cut meats are there for the taking but you have to line up at the different grills for your hot food and this can take a long time as the cooks are slow and I found many of them to be some what unhappy and don't care,,,that said they where the only staff that didn't smile,, the rest of the staff bar tenders , front desk ,maids ,grounds keepers ,bell hops, even the security guys at the beach all said hello and made you feel welcome,,,, oh and it happened to me twice,, as I was standing in line for grilled food the cook looked past me to take some else's order in line behind me,,but as explained to me they are people who go there often and the cooks recognize them ,(,, not the right thing to do ),,,,the al a carte s are your tippacel resort al a carts. But can be hard to get into ,,if you can pre book before you go I recommend you do or go asap when you get to the resort,, a lot of repeat guests pre book only al a carts. And don't do the buffets,,,would I return ,,,?? Yes I would but only if the price was right. It is no longer a 5 star resort for Cuba. Only 3.5. Or4 star,, there are nicer resorts !!!

Playa Costa Verde: Beautiful Holguin!

This is a great family resort, the pool is large and the grounds are beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is, well it's Cuba, you won't starve and if you book your a la cartes, they are quite good. The rooms are quite nice for Cuba, bigger than others I have visited. What makes this resort stand out is the entertainment! Wow, very professional and not your standard resort variety shows. Would recommend and return!

Playa Costa Verde: Home away from home

The playa costa verde staff puts guests first. They always say hello with a big smile, and are lovely people to talk to. Despite how busy it was during the time of year I went, the resort was very clean. And the upkeep was constant. Great place for young/ lively people. Tons of night activities and dancing. As well as small activities during the day

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Home away from Home

We have been going to this resort for 4 years (twice a year). We love being here. The staff is great. Love the food. Hotel is in a great spot. The local Cubans are great to hang with. So safe. We are not picky people. This resort is only a 3 1/2 star. When you go to Cuba everyone all ways says the food is not the greatest. Well it has come along way, food is getting better. Lots of places to eat on the resort and off. Two restaurants have a sit down breakfast and a sit down lunch.  [... read more] So you don't always have to eat at the buffet. The beaches are beautiful. Main beach the local Cubans are there. There are two private beaches and 4 pools. We stay in the tropical section. Which is the main building. They are doing lots of new up grades on the rooms. This resort has the most return guest in Holguin. This is only my prospective. Would I suggest this resort yes. If you are looking for a resort that is the Hilton.....don't come to Cuba at all.

1. Beaches- 5/5-absolutely beautiful. There is one general beach and 2 smaller kind of secluded beaches. 2. Resort- very average, outdated but clean. 3/5 3. Customer Service- 4/5 depending where you went

Playa Costa Verde: Great place

My husband and I stayed Dec 8 to 22nd and had a wonderful time except for the bug bites. Apparently they are from a no see em fly called a "hen" fly and they are everywhere. Even tho I used inseçt repellant I looked like I had chicken pox. I get bit everywhere I travel in the Caribbean but there were many people who looked like me. Don Lino Hotel: Terrific vacation

We travelled to Don Lino at Christmas - had a wonderful time! They went all out for Christmas dinner - the resort is great and the staff is amazing! Small and intimate - friendly staff who provide awesome service- grounds are well cared for and there are improvements every year

Don Lino Hotel: Not as good as it shows

The service was poor, food was so so. Had to change rooms two times,the room not so clean. The light outside not so much. The beach dirty and cant swim in it. Pool area so so, no entraînement pretty boring. This resort needs a lot of upgrades and wifi.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort

First of all: very friendly and helpful staff, room are big and pretty clear, food became much much better, entertainment still really pure, and of course beach are amazing and water it so clear, that I never ever seeing in other place in the world

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great Resort

If you are looking for a clean, safe family friendly resort and an affordable vacation this is the place to be! We enjoyed the last 2 weeks here and my kids and hubby and I loved it! Between the snorkeling at the beach, the animator Cesare(he was the best) the outdoor game room by the theater it kept my 2 children busy! The resort has security guards in every corner to enhance security. There are no locals that enter the resort . We stayed in block 6 the room had new mattresses, beds were very comfortable, never a problem with hot water everything worked just fine. Food at buffet was actually very good but repetative. They only had toast one day out of 14 days. So you might want to bring your own McMuffin bread. Although they had their bread they served. The creps were made in front of you and we're awesome! Italian restaurant had great pizza! The seafood restaurant too is a great place for lunch. They also had a taco bar by the main pool. And a 24 hour snack bar by the main pool. They have a Cuban and Mexican restaurant too. Althoughe when resort gets full the service can be very slow at the restaurants, this would be the only complaint. It seems like they can't handle lots at one time.The beach is absolutely beautiful and very safe for children, you can go snorkeling near by. You can bring bread and the fish swim towards you. Make sure to stay off the beach after sunset cause you will get bitten by tiny fies that are not mosquitoes, bug spray won't help. They are there cause of the surrounding trees by the beach. The night shows the first week I found okay the second week was a lot better. Overall it was a great experience and would return!

Don Lino Hotel: Feels like home

I love the small resort, easy to get around. Other resorts have staff to get a chair, tip is customary. I appreciate not having all the extras. Great music in the evening, kitchen party atmosphere. Short walk to Playa seals the location.

Playa Pesquero: The Good and The Bad

This was our 4th trip to Playa Pesquero since it opened in 2003, and again we are already planning our next trip. The hotel is working hard to improve not only the facility but also customer relations. Wifi in the restaurants, New Bistros and entertainment in the main lobby at night. And now the bad, well... we were very pleased with our time in Cuba. Here's the thing, if you are the type of person who demands perfection then Cuba may not be for you. If you don't like foreign food then don't visit foreign countries. You're not going to get corn-fed beef! But you are going to get a wide selection of good food, but it won't be exactly like home.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Our happy place

The grounds are immaculate and the resort itself was peaceful and quiet. It was our second stay at Luna y mares, and we had a beautiful ocean view from our 3rd floor balcony. The staff and service at this resort are excellent! Many recognized us from our previous visit. Front desk was friendly and attentive and was never crowded. The snorkeling is good, and if you go further along to the Rio de Oro and swim along the rock cliff, there are beautiful corals and fish of all varieties to see. Food is very good, always hot and lots to choose from, and always delicious. We had the most succulent lobster dinner at an a-la-carte - I have eaten many lobsters before, but the two we had here were outstanding - definitely worth it. We can't wait for holidays again, we're planning to be back ASAP.

Playa Costa Verde: Great value

The resort is older but is very well kept and the staff make your stay truly enjoyable. Everything you need is easy to get to and we had a fantastic time. You can purchase a lobster lunch for 11 pesos per person which is fantastic - Maria will help you out - such a nice lady. Yordan from entertainment was wonderful and we enjoyed getting to know him. All the staff are amazing!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Very Poor reseort

Cuba is the last place to visit. I still recover from the flee bites and toxification from food. They have no idea how to make a mojito. They don't have mint. Coffee is horrible. Only at the main lobby bar they make expresso (sort of). Hotel is 90 min from the airport. The trip is awful in an old Chinese bus. WestJet on site rep told us not to leave the beach towels on the chair because it will get stolen! I could continue with negatives but there is no point! I have no idea hos this hotel  [... read more]gets 5 stat rating from Europeans visitors: English and German mainly! The only positive is the Habana Club Rum! My recommendation is to stay away!
