Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing Resort

We had an amazing time at the Aquamarine. Everything was top notch EXCEPT the pool chairs. Was extremely annoying to be worried about our pool chairs. Mine were taken by your staff when I was at breakfast with my husband for a half hour. My friends were in the pool and their chairs were taken by the staff. The manager with the 2 long pigtails was extremely rude and did not listen to anything I was saying. She just kept saying, “I will take your chairs again if you are not there”. We paid a lot o [... read more]f money to come to your resort and it was upsetting to know our things were at risk of being taken away. We have never had this happen at any other resort. Perhaps more chairs are needed by the pool. Also more umbrellas as no shade available. Everything else was amazing. Pool was beautiful and your staff mostly very helpful. Oh and Juan was the BEST poolside waiter ever. Such zest for his job smiling and energetic all day long.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Lipstick on a pig.

The Bahia Principe Grande Punta Cana was badly in need of repair and maintainence,. Both of the buffet restaurants had areas in which the smell of sewage was overpowering , table and chairs were worn, broken and chipped. Food was generally good but constantly running short. We had one of the renovated suites and as such was pleasantly appointed and roomy. A lack of ventilation in the bathroom was allowing mold to form in the corners of the shower and under the sink. Central pools and deck areas weren't as crowded but the 2 pools were serviced by 1 washroom with 2 male and 2 female stalls, for several days this area was flooded by overflowing toilets and had fecal matter floating in it. None of the stalls were lit as motion sensor switches had been removed and covered with steel plates.Pools had algae coating the perimeter drains and large areas in the center of the pools. Some staff were very helpful but many were just marking time. Upon arrival the resort looked fine but after a few days of constantly dealing with issues it became obvious that it was severely overcrowded and lacked the amenities for such a volume of guests.Meals felt like cattle calls with long lines, no plates and missing items. A LA carte restraunts were rushed and not pleasant dining experiences. To sum up the experience it was crowded and rough around the edges like a cheap carnival. 3 star resort at best.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Fun times!

The resort is small enough to have everything close enough for walking to all the amenities. We were a group of 6 adults. We loved walking the beach and enjoyed watching the kitesurfing. The buffet food was okay...we didn't starve. The snack bar was perfect for a small bite (fries, hot dogs, burgers). Rooms are outdated, but clean. Don't recommend ground floor rooms though...lots of room under the door for different critters to get in! Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Great Resort!

This was our second time at Onyx, we were there just after it opened in March 2017. They have since then expanded the grounds to include a waterpark and additional rooms. Note, our first stay was mainly adults, it is now more of a family resort. Not an issue for us, and we did not find the kids overly intrusive as they tended to frequent the water park etc. Much busier this time capacity wise. The abundance of staff was able to provide proper service despite that. The weather was great, 28-30 C [... read more] during the day, partly cloudy, overnight dropping to 20-24 C but by 9 am it was back up to at least 26. Not much rain, the usual 5-10 minute showers off and on for the most part. Taking everything into account, we really enjoyed ourselves. Pros: Staff was very attentive, helpful and friendly. Key persons such as the hostess at the buffet and bartenders at the bars we frequented remembered us after the first couple of days and greeted us more like friends than guests. Very clean resort in all aspects with constant cleaning/upkeep Maintenace across the entire resort. Food was a bit hit-and-miss based on our tastes (typical of most resorts), however overall the quality and selection was good. We just had to learn what to look for and choose accordingly. The A La Carte restaurants were good although they were first come, first seated. Wait times not bad (the longest we waited was about 1/2 hr, just grabbed a drink at the Prelude Bar and enjoyed the wait). Drinks were decently prepared, bartenders were able to prepare a good selection, and the bars are spaced around so that you didn't feel like it was hard to get refills. See note below regarding Beach Area (service). Room. We had a swim up (as usual), the room was well appointed, the outdoor area had a hot tub, 2 sitting chairs, 2 loungers (with a small grassy area we could move them out onto) and a small table. The cleaning staff did a good job and after speaking with the person who stocked the mini bar, every day we had lots of bottled water and 3 beers with nothing else as we requested. Be sure to read the Cons section below... Beach Area, lots of lounge chairs at the beach, enough that after the first couple days we didn't bother to go down early to claim some where we wanted that day. We prefer being in the sun, the Palapas seemed to fill up faster? Very clean beach, virtually no seaweed. There were 2 bars at the beach area, so not far to go to get drinks. Service at the beach was typical, moderate wait times as the servers took massive orders/filled /delivered them. I prefer to get up and move around every now and then anyway, I can't just sit there drinking and baking in the sun all day. LOL! Pool Areas we cannot comment on as we never sat there (we never hang out at the pool, prefer the beach). But passing by, everyone looked to be having a great time. We did a walk-through of the water park; it was busy and looked like a lot of fun. We just ran out of time, or I would have done the slides that looked great. Cons: VERY windy (coming straight off the ocean) this time compared to the last time. Effect of going almost a month earlier? Ocean was breaking in the center of the beach, which could bowl you over when they broke if you aren't that confident in the water, once past the "surf area" it was more of a bob in the water. My wife preferred the left side of the beach that had a bit of reef where it was pretty gentle getting in/swimming. The WIND tended to sandblast you, mostly when people would walk by/kids playing. For that reason, we spent a lot of time at our swim up room sunning/swimming/drinking. There was a bar very close, and sporadic service right at the room. NOTE: Not much the resort can do about the weather. House flies were pretty annoying early morning/later afternoon on our patio. I noted they were pretty much across the resort as well, although I didn't notice them in the buffet (open air)/restaurants. Not biting flies, just annoying when they would land on you. The resort may want to look into fly strips, but not sure if that would take away some of the ambiance? At least there were no mosquitos that we saw at any point, and I only saw them fog the edge of the grounds on our side once.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: ....A VERY NICE FAMILY OWNED RESORT, BUT SERVICE COULD IMPROVE.

We were so impressed with our vacation there in 2024 that we returned in 2025. However, the maid and reception service was not as good as in 2024. We waited a whole day for reception to bring us a suitcase stand so we could unpack.The quality and variety in the buffet was not as good as in 2024, but the service was excellent. In one of the a la carte restaurants we waited about an hour to be served. We commented about how very slow the service was and were told that if we want faster service to  [... read more]go to the buffet. The entertainment staff was energetic and creative. Bar service was efficient and quick. Room towels were scarce and sometimes we had none. Beach towels were often unavailable. We may return because the location is excellent, and there's always plenty to do. Generally the staff was friendly and welcoming.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Very nice resort

The resort was nice! Pools, restaurants, grounds nicely maintained. Rooms were just ok! Everything in my room worked but heard from many others that they had issues. Food was good. Always could find something! Staff were ok. My cleaning lady and one lady bartender near the restaurant were the best! Most staff kept to themselves but did there job.

Dreams Flora Resort and Spa: Beautiful place....but.....

The grounds to this resort are awesome. We checked in at the front counter and as soon as we turned around, we were already bombarded by a sales rep asking us about "upgrades". Not even a chance to get to our room. Just terrible. The food in the buffet, was pretty much the same everyday (pretty much expected). Food always overcooked and dry. The restaurants, were okay. Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Bouganville is a Gem

I will start out by saying that the resort, every part of it was immaculately clean. From the rooms to the public areas and grounds. The staff are constantly cleaning everything!. The front desk were amazing, (shout out to Fabulous Fabio) helping in every way. We love the colonial architecture which to us is a great feature. We are not modernists and the whole resort felt comfortable and pleasing. Having the choice of an activity pool or quite pool was a bonus. And everything is only a [... read more] short walk. The buffet food was excellent with lots of choices. We even wandered over to La Romana, the family side of the resort a few times for dinner at the buffet and shopping. And coffee in the morning with a game of billliards by the bar before the heat of the day was fun. I would recommend this Resort to anyone as we had such a wonderful stay and will definately return.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Not as advertised

This resort section for adults only not recommended, if you don't get al a carte you have NO OTHER CHOICE BUT BUFFET AT CATALONIA FAMILY SIDE There is an issue with chairs at pools ,people save them and not there all day.There are no carts to take you anywhere a lot of walking Not helpful at front desk All wait staff even ask for tips DO NOT GO

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Great small and very walkable resort. The staff are very friendly and very attentive.the beds are extremely uncomfortable, so much so that I preferred to sleep on the couch in the room. The food was meh. My husband and I both were ill with what we can only assume was food-borne illness and lost 2 days of our vacation. The pool was lovely but there was not enough shade nor loungers. The beach was nice but the water was quite turbid and there was little we could do to cool down. Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: To many bugs

There is so many mosquitoes my husband covered head to toe with. Wealth please bring mosquito repellent We had an issue with bugs and bad smell in our first room the next day they moved to another next to a construction site that was jackhammering at 7sm The only thing that ok was the food good the room was clean the beach is nice

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

This was are 9th visit to the Senator. The staff is great from the dining areas to the cleaning staff to the animation team. The food is great. Nice to see the new umbrellas and chairs come out. The only complaint would be the two guys operating the bus back to the airport. Didn't speak with us and were somewhat demanding of a tip at the airport.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Really nice resort

I really enjoyed this resort. The staff was always friendly and would go above and beyond to make sure your needs were met. The grounds were very well kept and clean. We stayed on the adults only side which was nice and quiet but to have access to the rest of the resort was nice as well. The food options were nice there were many different options something for everyone. We stayed in a junior suite it was nice and spacious the king bed was comfortable. My only 2 issues with the room would be that there was a mildew smell when you entered the room but when you got past the washroom the smell was gone. The 2nd issue is that our room was missing the hanging chair on the balcony which I was really looking forward to swinging on I did speak with someone about this but it was never corrected. For my first ever trip I would say I really enjoyed my stay and would go back again.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Very nice, clean, amazing stuff. Great food choices. Good organization.

Hotel, rooms and all amenities great!!! very happy to stay there, had a good time with friends. weather great, food great, amazing and friendly stuff. we will recommend for sure and come back in few years.

Tropical Deluxe Princess: Needs some improvement

We booked as a group 4 couples in 2024 for Feb 25. The rest of the group had rooms ready on arrival. I needed a main floor because of mobility issues.On arrival no room was ready for me and my husband . After many hours of waiting we were given what I am sure was one of the worst rooms in the resort D 5118 only motorcycle and scooters for a view .after a wasted day and a half. We were moved to building A 3009 a big improvement but our door wouldn’t lock after 2 days we tracked down a repair [... read more] man ourselves. Needless to say the first 3 days were a fail . And who thinks a room for 2 adults only needs one chair are we to sit on the floor and take turns with the chair .

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Do Not Go To This Resort

Terrible rooms, terrible restaurants, terrible beachfront. We had to switch rooms 1st night due to Security issues. The second room didn't have hot water the 2nd day for 1 day. Internet wasn't working for 3 days. TV didn't for 2 days. Restaurants were not good. The Asian restaurant was terrible- we left after the appetizers. We left beloved restaurant because we were left after seating for 45 minutes!! Beaches were awful- could not swim and beach walking was limited

Good stay. Staff amazing except one from the lobby bar. I don't remember his name. He never wants to say hi to me or serve.me a drink during two weeks! I told him.before my departure! He is short, a llittle bit chubby and working at night.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Disappointed

Basic room, expected room to be more luxurious. Toilet flush was very loud. No bathrobe. TV did not work. Fan made a lot of noise. Cupboards and drawers for clothes did not close properly. On several occasions found that the patio door was unlocked when I know we left it locked every time we exited the room. Resort under construction ... not all restaurants were open. One of the couches in the seating area near the "Hunter" restaurant had a pipe of 2-3 inches in height sticking out under t [... read more]he cushion, I sat on this seat not knowing what was under the cushion and received an injury to my backside. Not very pleasant. I have pictures of this pipe. The next day someone had cut it ... not removed it! Very few working umbrellas in the pool area. Loungers in the pool and beach area were old and worn, some broken. Ladies public toilet near the pool area has two stalls, one had no toilet seat. Tried to recharge my phone in the lobby area ... tried 4 different outlets before I found one that worked. Resort needs upgrades everywhere!
