Sol Turquesa Beach: the resort itself was lovely.the beach was okay the grounds were very lush, the weather at the end of Sept. was good.
The thing that was most troublesome was the amount of stairs to climb before you get to the buffet and lobby etc. the pools were good, except one pool was being painted etc. was not ready till the day we left. Being that it was off season, the buffet was the same thing every day pork and beef meat was extremely tough , chicken legs was the next best, salad bar was good, dessert bar was good. Staff was very good and friendly, had to exchange rooms at least 4 times due to toilet not working proper[... read more]ly, water, telephone etc. but last room everything worked, The plane that we were leaving on had some technical problem, so we had to stay on the plane, for at least 3 hours before it finally got off the ground.
The hardest thing for certain aged people were the stairs, a lot of stairs.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Our favourite resort
This is our 9th trip in 11 years since its opening as Sarenas Las Salina. We love the size since you are required to walk a lot. We have established a very friendly relationship with staff especially the ones who have been employed there since it opened. We have also visited some of their homes in Matanza. We will be booking and going again in September 2019.
I don't even know where to start. This was my first trip to Cayo Coco. Memories Flamenco is a beautifully landscaped resort with a beautiful beach. From the moment I arrived at the resort and until the moment I left, ALL of the staff were amazing. The food was a lot better than what I had expected, having been to Varadero several times. I can honestly say that I don't have anything bad to say about this resort and I will definitely be going back again.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Beautiful Escape
This hotel is amazingly picturesque and has an incredible beach. Best hotel pools out of our travels to date....sadly there were repairs in progress so some of the pools were closed. Somewhat cumbersome to get around for anyone with mobility issues but carts are available on request. Entertainment seemed to be limited or not well advertised. That being said our visit was during the off season so that does often effect excursions and entertainment. Definitrly woyld return to this Memories resort [... read more]and look forward to exploring new ones as well.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: A VERY MEMORABLE VACATION
Where does one start. From our elite seating to the reception and departure from Grand Memories Sanctuary it was a very memorable vacation. Our suite on the second floor pool side was beautiful. We were in close proximity to a pristine beach as well. The weather was perfect.
On September 7, a very special birthday, we went deep sea fishing and caught 7 Barracuda! The crew was knowledgeable and served us well. The staff at Sanctuary were polite and engaged.
We had Champagne almost every day[... read more] as well as al a’ la carte restaurants that served lobster!
Very memorable Grand Memories Sanctuary! We will definitely be back. See you soon!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: MOST RELAXING CUBAN VACATION TO DATE
MOST RELAXING CUBAN VACATION TO DATE
PROFILE:
A Senior who has been travelling to Cuba for the past 20+ years, so far I have stayed at eight different resorts. Sometimes travel solo, sometimes as a couple, sometimes as part of a group. This past visit from September 11th to September 25th we travelled as a group of four, two of us were repeat guest (who really didn’t have a good ‘first experience’ but decided to give Memories a second try). The other two were a deal couple and first time [... read more]visitors to Cuba.
CHECK IN:
From the minute we got off the bus that evening we were struck by the impeccable level of service. We were greeted in the Lobby by a full complement of Welcoming Staff with cool drinks ready, and the Check In Crew who already had our ‘bracelets’ ready, and only required us to quickly fill out our ‘admission slips’. Because of the two deaf people in our party I did request that our three rooms be close to each other, my request was granted.
SERVICE:
To my surprise upon our arrival I was approached by a wonderful young lady who introduced herself as Greisy Costillo-Perez the Customer Service Manager, it is obvious this young woman had read my ‘original complaint’ of my first visit to Memories Flamenco Beach Resort, knew I was giving them a ‘second shot’ and was determined to re-assure me that my first experience was not the ‘norm’ for this resort, Our bags were taken directly to the rooms assigned, we four tired Seniors also got a ride over to our building. As someone who retired after 30 years of not only delivering Customer Service but teaching how it is done, all I can say is by her initial gesture and by the fact that every time she saw us during our stay she would genuinely inquire if everything was O.K., that caring concern she exhibited certainly earned us as Repeat Guests of this resort, that woman is an asset to the Memories organization.
THE STATE OF THE RESORT:
While the individual rooms we got were in good repair for the most part, if as in my case something didn’t work, the maintenance staff would address it immediately.. I had the thermostat of my AC replaced within minutes of getting into my room and discovering it was not working.
While the cosmetics of this resort continue to look good, and the cleanliness of the bathrooms in the Common Area were for the most part improved over our last visit, the shower stations between Building #2 and the Snack Bar were broken and permanently shut off from the second day we got there, this was not repaired for the entire two weeks of our stay, resulting in some people leaving that beach area having to go over to use the showers in the pool area, either that or track sand all the way to their rooms.
THE CULTURE OF THIS RESORT:
While not overtly declared, I still find the front line service at this resort to be either ‘tips driven’ or ‘recognition of repeat guest driven. I was surprised that this time around I received much better service than the last time, and in most cases because I had been recognized as being there before. I did happen to have conversations with guests who were there for the first time, who did encounter issues that I didn’t, but those issues did sound familiar as those were some of my issue on my first visit. I guess familiarity has it’s privilages.
FOOD AND DRINK:
I always found the quality and variety of food at the Memories chain to be the best resort food of the eight other resorts I have visited, but then that is my personal choice. I did note however that whenever I drank the bottled water provided in my room my stomach was fine, however if I drank the water supplied at the restaurants or bars I developed a ‘loose stomach’, to avoid any further discomfort I simply took along my ‘personal water’ where ever I went.
POOL:
I am a beach person so I did not spend much time at the pool, however the both times I attended the ‘Orange Party’ which is a must do, the pool seemed clean enough, I did however have a complaint from a friend who claimed the pools were dirty, I cannot attest to this since they ‘looked fine’.
BEACH:
The beach was the usual ‘spectacular’, I spent most of my two weeks there. I will now direct this comment to ‘The Pigs’ who won’t clean up after themselves when they use the beach... For Pete’s sake, there are garbage cans located along the beach.. use them. The beach area was just littered with everything from those small plastic cups, to straws, to discarded beer cans and those fresh coconuts and pineapples from those ‘novelty drinks’ that they sell. The Cubans are there to serve you but not to pick up after you.
CONCLUSION:
Will I return to this resort? Absolutely... and am happy to recommend this resort to anyone reading this review.
Room Tip: Buildings #2 and #3 Pool / Garden view tends to get a bit noisy during pool activities.

Memories Jibacoa: Great place to relax
This was not our first time at this resort. We didn't visit the resort in the last 2 years because our son got married and other commitments but we could see the change right away. The food was always OK for us,this time most of the cold food was covered.
On the beach now lots of palapas and sun beds, never had to worry that you will not find a place. It was nice to see a lot of ppl on the beach compared to before but a lot of the guests were European ( from England and Germany) so no surprise[... read more] here. We are beach ppl and we like to snorkel. Best snorkeling place so far,we had visited Turks and Caicos last year for a wedding and I can tell you that when comes to snorkeling TCI is not even close.
The only issue we had was with the AC in the rooms. When we arrived they assign us a room where the AC was turned off, because of the humidity the moment we open the door to enter the smell of mold fit us in the face. We were given the key of two other rooms, fortunately for us the second had a working AC and no smell.5 days into our trip the AC stop working so we let the receptionist now....nothing was done until the next day when we wen down to reception to complain about it. The person that dealt with our complaint ( we only find out later) was the GM of the resort. We got a room with working AC for the reminder of the trip.
Kiki the GM was were pleasant and we like to thank him for what he did for us.We do not care for Ocean view rooms ( as we are on the beach all day) nor for pool view ( something that is considered an "upgrade") as we like to relax in peace. If they are going to fix the AC in all the rooms and put AC in the Dining Room this place will be for sure one of the best in Cuba.
As I mentioned the food was Ok , they should invest in stand alone food warmers with lids to cover so the food will stay hot. The tables outside were such a blessing as there is no AC inside.
Ppl are nice and they are trying their best to make as feel comfortable and we really appreciated. We will return for sure, just have a nice cold room for us.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Wonderful vacation
The sanctuary is for relaxation; great beach, great pool, lots of palapas at both; nice layout, friendly people.
We relaxed, had great meals, good shows and made new friends.
Rooms need some updates but good size.
Employees were polite and always ready to help.
Butler service at your floor is great to get the info you need and to book your a la carte restaurants (no limits per week).
Resort is clean and safe. Nice spa and gym at nearby shopping area. We used the shuttle service a f[... read more]ew times to go to restaurants and shopping area.
Only saw one show at theater as we preferred the nightly live bands outside the lobby.
Only few negatives: Do bring insect repellent and afterbites as most people were getting bitten in the evening. A bit far from airport but worth the trek.
Overall we were very pleased with the resort and the service.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Great Improvement Great Vacation
Memories Varadero, I will get straight to the imprtant review, Memories had definitely made changes since my last visit in 2014.
Front Desk was quick check in, little confussion on VIP and Diamond guests services, but Management quickly solve that problem,
Staff seems to be confused in VIP guest services, I did receive 3 different answers from 3 different staffers, That I found quite funny, they need more consistent training and more English language.
I found Gardeners spoke better English [... read more]than few of Front Lobby staff.
It was nice to see few familiar faces still working there.
Rooms- Freshly white painted clean rooms, flat screen TV in upgraded rooms. I was in Bldg 24, my friend 25.
New high confy matress, fresh crisp linnens with satin bed covers. Furniture was in good condition.
New balcony window , drapes, new doors, and new closet aluminum door. Always hot water available, I didnt notice any mold smell once AC was on. I have allergies, Room was missing some ameneties, like coffee cups and coffee, I did have a Coffee maker though, notepads, pictures on walls. I think rooms are not fully completed, but no biggie, I had what I needed. 1 bottle of water was left on the dresses, only after I asked the manager why my mini fridge was empty, 3rd day I received beer and pop. Im am VIP member.
Several Buildings are still under renovations .
Very clean grounds always cleaned and vibrant with flora. Beautiful Palm Trees everywhere.
Some updates in Lobby and work continues, I was impressed.
Food- within week I stayed, always fresh, plenty to chose from, salads, meats station, pizza and pasta stations, seafood station and of course deserts and fruit juices. Stations very clean, Nothing to complain about.
Pools were clean, 24 hr. Snack bar, always something open, 24hr lobby bar, coffee bar in lobby was great.
Beach was clean, one of cleanest in the area, believe me I walked a lot and visited other resorts, most were almost empty and beach wasn't cleaned daily like Memories. Last day of my stay, there was some washed up seaweed from all the rain.
There is Beach Grill and Bar as well.
Diamond Club beach section wasnt that busy, has its own bar, plenty of shade and pallapas, bartenders were awesome, made sure our cups were always full. Regular section was busier but still plenty Pallapas and loungers for guests.
Entertainment, was great from morning to 2 a.m, always something going on. Beach water aerobics, games, dance lessons, lobby shows, Lobby piano players was great. Nightly entertainment in the square was also amazing, disco afterward. White Party, Bravo MEMORIES!!
Service was very good for most part, few new people need training in buffet area. 2 ladies at buffet made us laugh every day, we call them Mamas, one on fruit station, one on breakfast grill.. Fast like speedy gonzales..lol. Very funny.
Diamond Club Restaurant in the square for lunch was amazing, great lunch and service. What can I say, I was definitely impressed. I only had one Ala Carte, Japenese, it was perfect, no very salty, pefect taste.
I had an oportunity to meet new Resort Manager and the Big BOSS.. Resorts are under management, so far they are doing a great job.
I wont name anyone but, A Big Hello !!! to to my beach bartenders.
I visited Grand MEMORIES and boy, Memories Varadero is way better and rooms nicer. My friend visited Grand MEMORIES same week and said it was almost empty and food was horrible, as rooms, wished he transferred.
In conclusion, I had a terrific time, met lot of people on the beach and pool, I went Solo, but definitely wasn't lonely, or alone.
I was very sceptical when I booked because of bad reviews on Tripadvisor, but Im glad I didnt change Resorts.
My observations, there was a lot of Latinos the week of Sept 4 to 10, I noticed they received priority over English Speaking and other languages. But they dont tip! I tipped very well and in some areas waited quite long time for service, one point, I actually yelled to get served as bartenders were serving their Spanish speaking friends ahead of me, that happened several times in the week, that is unacceptable. I did mention that to Diamond Customer Relations, but I was told, that It wasnt true..LOL.
But, I didnt let that ruin my vacation. Im not a drinker but I do get thirsty at times.
My other thing was, I spend a lot on tips on ppl that served me and bought gifts that I made into packages.
On My last day, I was asked if I can give them some clothes and toiletries before they finish their shift? I was bit shocked ! I gave this perticular servers 2 CUCS daily. I never had anyone run after me to ask me that before in other Parts of Cuba.
Exchange rate , wow its high, 1.48 on $50.00, I got approx. 27 CUCS first night there.
Exchange your money in town or airport better rates.
Overall, I had excellent vacation and would definitely return for 9 th time if improvements continues.
GREAT VACATION !🌴🌴ðŸ–

Resonance Blu Varadero: Nice resort!
Just got back from our first visit to this hotel, I must say although I had read horrible reviews prior to our trip, we had a beautiful one week stay. Traveled with my husband and our friends. Our rooms very clean and everything functioned except balcony door (very hard to open).
Being diamond club members, we had our beer, water, and soft drinks in our fridge daily, beach towels we exchanged ourselves ( even so they are listed under Extra features-Diamond Clubâ„¢ Inclusions).
The staff was[... read more] very pleasant, helpful and always wanted to please us. Food was good as always in Cuba. We also ate at the Italian and Japanese a la carte restaurant, and it was good as well.
I probably don’t need to say this for anyone who has ever been to Varadero before, but the beach was absolutely beautiful.
This was an nice hotel and we will definitely return in the future!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Nothing more than a 3 star hotel
This hotel fell short when it came to service and room. The food was ok considering it's Cuba and our expectation wasn't that high. I visited many islands and stayed at The Royalton, Melia (in Cuba), the Rui and Grand Playdium etc. And this hotel was our least favourite. I would never go back to a Memories and never recommend it to anyone. I went for a destination wedding and would not have chosen this hotel as my number one choice. The services was ridiculous and for a group of 35 friends [... read more]dishing out tips like crazy our service should have been much better. The room was the biggest downfall. We had ants in our room, the was pressure was poor and the faucet on the sink was leaking. Our bed sheet never got changed and there was a fowl odour in our room. What a nightmare. Another disgusting thing were the amount of cats there were around the resort. This hotel needs a real wake up call. Tell me how a hotel as big as this does not have a shutter service for people to move around or a car rental. I hope this could help in assisting some change.
