We just returned from a one week vacation to this resort, the grounds and service are impeccable. The food is generally quite good and there is a lot to choose from. My favorite was having the pasta made fresh to your liking, and it was delicious. The steak at the steakhouse was excellent as long as you ordered the fillet. We did not love the Japanese, however we do not eat sushi. The mexican was decent and the view from here is outstanding.
At lunch though the mexican restaurant turns into a wal[... read more]k in Italian and it was very good. On the downside, the rooms really need some updating, even at least the curtains and bedding, our first room was definitely musty and I coughed the first two nights. We moved to a higher floor closer the the activity pool and it was a lot better. Same decor but I never coughed again.
We would go back , the service is amazing, and the wait staff are kind and hard working.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Great resort, amazing staff, fantastic time!
I traveled to this resort at the end of February with three friends and we all had a great time. The resort is beautiful and the beach is great. We had read reviews about it being quite large and lots of walking but we all found this was not the case. Maybe we were lucky in our location in building four but we were steps away from the main pool, and whether you were heading to the beach or restaurants, it really only took a few minutes to walk to either one.
Overall the service was great. There[... read more] may have been the odd spot that was a little slow or understaffed but really nothing to complain about. This can happen anywhere. Our favourite servers where Victor in the Sports Bar and Alistair and Victor at the outdoor bar/entertainment area. We loved this concept out having the band and DJ outside and everyone in the resort was always having a great time there.
We liked all the restaurants and the best were the Indonesian and Japanese. The food and service and both places were amazing. A lot of people raved about the French and Italian, which we found good but we enjoyed the other two more. Again, it can depend on your server and what you ordered.
The rooms were a nice size and I like the layout that the bathroom area was separated from the bedroom. The beds were quite comfortable. The only little complaint was that we wished there was more vanity space in the bathroom area but then we were two girls sharing a room so given this is an Adults Only, it's more designed for couples.
I think people can always find something to complain about, some more than others, but as long as the place is clean and safe, you are on vacation so just enjoy it. It's more about who you are with and that is what makes it a great vacation. I have been traveling to resorts for the past 15 years and this one is near the top.

The Silversands is a place I would highly recommend. Everything from the superb service and food, to their elegant property and gorgeous beach..... this was a first class experience I would do all over again. I've never returned to the same place twice at an all inclusive after many years of travelling, the Secrets Silversands will be my first.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: nice resort - still too new (glitches to work out)
Best part: fantastic food (even buffet), great drinks, pretty resort, nice gym/spa facilities, friendly staff, beach party was fun, close to airport
To be improved: wait times at restaurants (sometimes 1-2 hours)!! workers & machinery cleaning beach all day/every day, music throughout the resort was lame, 'adult only' applied to 1 pool and section of beach

The Sens Cancun: incredible beauty
This resort is in a beautiful setting surrounded by surf and sand. The food was good and we never went hungry with lots of selection from both traditional Mexican and international food choices. The staff was amazing especially Jimmy the bartender at the Cantina. He was always quick of fill our bubbas and was always smiling and happy. We recommend the Captain Hook pirate dinner and show cruise. The boat looks like an authentic pirate ship and both the food and entertainment were great. Charlie w[... read more]as our pirate server onboard and he was awesome. He always made sure we had a full beer and that we were satisfied with the entire experience. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great getaway on a very friendly intimate resort. The resort size was perfect for our group of 8, we never had to wait in long lines for the buffet and we could always get a lounge chair at the pool or on the beach. Overall a great place with lots of local shopping malls and flea markets. Its only a buck to take the bus downtown to shop and there are lots of stores and booths to cruise through. We even found a Harley Davidson dealership to increase our tshirt collections, LOL.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: A great resort to relax and unwind!
The annoying time share guys at the hotel give you a bad first impression but it is a great resort to relax and unwind. The food is amazing and it's nice that you don't have to make reservations. The resort has little shade because it is new. We had a room with a Jacuzzi on the roof which I would recommend for couples. Also ask for Hide Away so you can go to the adults only seafood restaurant.

Fiesta Americana Riviera Nayarit: After 10 yrs we finally found it!
We traveled to Dreams Villamagna from Feb 14-21st. After spending a week there we have to say we do not have 1 complaint. The up most amazing service everywhere we went. Staff would walk up to you and ask if everything was OK was there anything they could do for you.
Check in and check out was quick and efficient we asked for an up grade and they were able to accommodate us with out a problem.
Food was amazing! You could eat at any of the restaurants anytime with out a reservation. Only once di[... read more]d we have to wait to be seated and we were offered anther place to sit and a drink while we waited. Food presentation was fabulous.
Bars, bartenders and waiting staff were out of this world. Very quick and efficient never had to wait long anywhere. We sat up by the beach bar and they were determined that they served us at our chairs no need to get up and walk the 50 ft to the bar. Julio and Junior were the best they never stopped! One thing that I noticed I have not seen anywhere else is at the bars there are dishwashers. The cups just don't get a shake and a rinse. They actually do get washed!
Our room was more than we expected! Beds and pillows were comfy. Rooms were kept immaculate. Fridge was stocked daily! Turn down service every night with you mail and chocolates on your pillow. You would receive a memo on the next day activities, restaurant hrs, weather and the drink of the day!!! Jacuzzi on your deck was a nice treat as well! We also ordered room service a cple times and it was lovely. When you called down it was hello Ms Roy how can I help you. We asked for Spanish Coffee once and at first they said they were unable to bring it. They will call before they deliver to see if there was anything else they could get for us and to tell us by the way we were able to get your Spanish coffee for you! Again the staff always goes out of their way to please!!!!
As I said in the beginning we could not find one complaint with this resort. Cant wait to return and also visit other Dreams and its sister resorts!
Hats of to all of the staff that work at Dreams Villamagna as you really know how to make a person really feel like they are at home!

Secrets Aura Cozumel: nice resort
Great staff. Polite and hard working. Food is average. Pleasant surprise upgrade on arrival to preferred. Was an $800+/person upgrade as I looked into it before going. Would not have payed for it. Service at bars better at not preferred. A lot of overweight, baba jug carrying drunks. Maybe it`s the same every where with all inclusive? Facility well groomed, preferred room was large and comfortable except floors are slippery when wet and upstairs shower leaking into ours. Was reported when there [... read more]but nothing done. Not sure what regular, pool view rooms are like. Marketed as quiet, romantic, couples type get away but more of a party atmosphere pool side when we were there. Have to stay on the beach. Beautiful sand beach but rocky on entry to the water. Didn`t take my tennis stuff and was disappointed, 1 hard court and 1 clay court and both lighted and not heavily booked.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Amazing resort!
Loved this place. So clean. Good food. A la cartes were great. Grounds were immaculate. Lots of walking but that was good. Internet usage was not fair. Paid for one hour but the one hour was only usable for ONE day. Did not tell us that when we bought Internet time. This needs to be reviewed. No other resort does this. Still, we will return some day!

Riu Santa Fe: The best all inclusive I ever been to
Absolutely fantastic, what a gem in western Mexico. From staff to grounds, from food to drinks, from beach to huge pools-PERFECTION PERFECTION PERFECTION !!! I had the time of my live there, very pleasurable stay.I would recommend this to anybody.Would definitely come back there in no time.
Had a wonderful 1-week vacation at this all-inclusive resort. We have been to several resorts in the Mayan Riviera before and this is one of the best ones. Very new and clean. Service was excellent. Got upgraded to a better suite just for requesting a king-size bed instead of 2 doubles. Pools were amazing but unfortunately quite cold for some reason, so not a lot of people were in the water. The ocean was much warmer and the beaches were amazing. The size of the resort was perfect (not too large[... read more] that you need to take shuttles everywhere, but still large enough). Food was great both at the buffet restaurants and at the a-la-cartes for dinner. Did not attend any of the evening shows so can't comment on those. Yes you have to reserve your lounge chairs by the pool or beach early each day, but that wasn't too difficult. Overall an enjoyable and much-needed escape from the bleak Canadian winter. :-)

Hard Rock Hotel Cancun: Great vacation!
We spent 1 week feb 10th and had an amazing time! I don't usually swim much on tropical vacations but the ocean was the best with no rocks or seaweed therefore I swam every day. We had a deluxe gold room with lagoon view which had amazing sunsets. The food was good and premium drinks were great! The hot tub in the room was a great way to end the day. We used our resort credits to rent a Bali bed on the beach for 5 days which included wine and some appetizers and I had 4 messages. You have to pay[... read more] 20% of the cost which was 320.00 total. I thought this was fair considering 1 massage can cost an average of 100.00. The only complaints would be the size of our balcony which was two tiles wide so smallest we have ever seen. We expected there to be more dancing/music in the evening considering it is the hard rock. There was not one band and the DJ played 3 nights but didn't start until approx 11pm. Overall a great vacation and definitely would recommend this resort.

Our 3rd Princess cruise and our 3rd Disney Vacation Club trip we were acknowledged somehow with something special . Catalonia Playa Maroma: Two thumbs up!!!
The staff was very friendly, the food was amazing. The buffet offered a great variety and the À la carte were excellent. When we arrived at the resort, we upgraded for a swim up room. We took advantage of our pool (exposed to sun all day) on the days when it was too windy and cold at the beach and too crowded at the pool. This was our first time in Mexico and I have to admit that the beach at this resort was very nice. Never had an issue finding beach loungers. A must do in Playa Del Carmen: Co[... read more]co Bongo! Such an entertaining show. I recommend the VIP tickets as it gets crowded in there. Resort had free WiFi which was great.
Lots of emphasis is put on the level of the bracelet: Basic, Priviledge, Exclusive. The beach is seperated in two, buffet and restaurants have designated areas for seating. No one could sit at the Exclusive table unless you had that bracelet. So you could have an entire evening of not having the table used but have a waiting period of 30-45 minutes at a restaurant. We were Priviledge and it happened to us once that they passed us in front of a Basic. Did not like that at all! This was our first experience in Mexico so not sure if that's how it is!

Crown Paradise Club: Great Family Trip
My family and I stayed at this resort from Feb 8-22. This was our first trip to Mexico and it exceeded our expectations. This resort is right beside the Marina and a local grocery store. There were positives and negatives about this resort but overall a good resort for families with children.
Our room was the standard room and we thought it was very nice and clean with a beautiful view of the ocean. We were debating whether to stay in this room or a family room and were glad that we went with th[... read more]is room. We had a chance to go into a family room and it was the same size as our standard room, the only thing that is different is the kids would have their own sleeping area but to get this the balcony becomes a one person standing area over looking a road. Our beds were new but way too hard as were the pillows which made for 2 weeks of restless sleep. There was no fridge in the room which would have been nice to have.
The resort is very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate mostly at the buffet which we thought was really good but we did hear people complaining about it. The beach snack area had pretty much the same food every day which was ok because we liked the hotdogs and hamburgers. My favorite place to eat was the snack shack by the main pool which opened from 4-11, the best burritos, I couldn't get enough of them! The pirate ship/kids area was very nice to have as our kids(4 & 6) spent a lot of time there. The main pool is very nice, warm and has a bar right there. We never spent a lot of time at the infinity pool but it is very nice and is right beside the beach. The adults only pool is more of a warm bath tub but as one gentleman pointed out, "it has a bar!" The beach is nice but I wasn't expecting to have that many locals trying to sell their merchandice to us, over and over and over again and the rope barrier is just a decoration or a tripping hazard!! The locals usually walked on if you waved no but it became very annoying and as a result we only spent 3 days on the beach! The bartenders worked really hard to get you what ever you wanted, the only problem I had was there was only one choice in beer and that was Corona, which would be ok but I'm a beer drinker and apparently I'm allergic to something in Corona. Over all it was a good resort, especially for families with young kids and we would go back there.
Id like to make a few suggestions for management:
-There should be a safe key for every room in the resort, waiting a day to get one is really unacceptable
-The Adults only pool should Only be an Adults only pool at night because this resort is marketed as kid friendly and it would have been nice for the kids to have a pool to warm up in on the few cool days that we had there. If the adults wanted to have a pool without kids, all they would have to do is go to the other Crown resort (Adults Only) which attached to this resort and all adults have access to anyways! Make this pool for adults some time at night and keep the bar open later.
-The gym on both resorts is small and very lacking on equipment
-A few different choices in beer (I wasn't happy having to buy beer from the local grocery store)

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great Potential, but not quite there yet
Spent one week prior to the official opening of the resort. The facility is modern and clean, and the staff is very friendly. I loved the swim out heated pools. From that perspective 5 stars indeed. There were still some repairs and construction going on while I was there, so there was some noise and certain sections were not accessible. Food and service in the restaurant was inconsistent and they run out of food and certain beverages during the week. The staff looked overwhelmed. There is no do[... read more]ubt in my mind that they were understaffed, but again, staff was doing their best to please and provide 5 star service. Now, my biggest issue was with the entertainment and overall feel. Most of the music I heard the whole week was american rock. I definitely did not feel like I was in Mexico. I felt like I went to states:-( For this reason alone, I doubt that I will go back. Also, they have a great teen area with pool, ping pong tables, fuse ball table, air hockey, but adults are not allowed. There was nothing of that sorts available for adults. I guess we were supposed to just drink away and danse to "good old rock n'roll". Very disappointing on this front.
Another disappointing fact was the availability of chairs, shade and nice beds. Never managed to get a spot on the bed. The last day I understood why, tipping staff will get you to hog three beds, two at the pool and one on the beach! I have nothing against tipping to reserve, but most of the day the places were empty and the people that were on the beach did not get to enjoy such nice furniture. Something should be done about that for sure.
Overall, I had a very good time, but I can not say this was up to par for a 5 star hotel. It will probably be better in few months:-)

Samba Vallarta: Small Old and Tired
Thought we were getting a good price on a 4 star resort when in fact it was a well paid for 3 star resort. Resort is well taken care of but still old and tired. Needs a lot of remodeling all over.Rooms, food, staff, services - all just adequate at best - not 4 star quality. Not a resort for young singles or couples without children - resort geared to families with young children and the elderly. Beach is very nice and lots of lounge chairs. Three areas that need to be addressed on this resort 1.[... read more] the offensive odor coming from the washroom area at the beach entrance that wafts up to the pool and bar lunch room area , makes eating or sitting in that area rather unpleasant, 2. tipping that is expected not earned. Service is no better if you tip or don't tip but is still expected - you get this look of tip me because l did my job. 3. No water sports equipment as advertised - had the equipment ( kayaks etc.) but according to the front desk they had no permits to use them. Had to rent from Riu property next door.
Would not return to this resort as it stand now unless these issues are looked after or the price is a lot cheaper than what we paid.
