Everything was good But resort is too big And it has too many stairs Everything is far far They had cart service but its not fun Some of the events were not mentioned on the app, we had to ask workers.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Lunchbox let down

Although we were thrilled with the service, staff, and food it was all overshadowed by how misleading the resort description and pictures were. We specifically booked Grand Oasis Tulum for the amenities offered for children and for how family friendly the resort was. Unfortunately, many of the features shown online were not even there, we were informed that the pictures are over two years old…the hotel was so far off of what we expected we even checked our booking to make sure we were at the cor [... read more]rect hotel! We also were met with loud music entertainment at night which would normally be great BUT it was all hosted in the “kid zone“ area, it was extremely disruptive to our child and made bedtime extremely difficult…why they do this when there is an entire adult only section we couldn’t quite figure out. Overall we made the best of it but we were extremely disappointed in how misleading the the details were. Please update the site as what is being shown is so not what the hotel offers or even looks like anymore…

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: A total escape!

We needed a break and specifically did not want to be in a city type area, it was an R&R vacation. Royalton Cancun was ideal. The Diamond Club was beyond excellent, our butlers Enrique & Vanessa were completely thoughtful, proactive & accommodating- we never had to ask for any of the services provided with our stay- they engaged us proactively. The resort is in the middle of many upgrades and you would never really know it because the work is being planned not to interrupt guests. The restaurant [... read more]s and kitchens are all very clean and well appointed. The grounds are kept in impeccable order even after a wind storm the clean up was swift. I look forward to the full site refresh under the Marriott Bonvoy banner but we enjoyed every single day. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Royalton Riviera Cancun resort

Just got back from Royalton Riviera Cancun. Overall the resort was beautiful, beach was great rooms were nice and well kept. Pools were good but a little on the chilly side .Entertainment was good and I enjoyed the aquafit class in the main pool. The buffet was excellent and I want to mention some excellent service. Ask to be seated In Orlando's section. Between Orlando and his sidekick Samuel, you will receive some of the best service I have ever experienced in a resort. Also the Carribean  [... read more]restaurant deserves mention. This was our favorite. The chef Luis is a great up and coming new chef. He made our evening twice, serving fantastic meals and personally presenting us with a custom desert plate. Salvador and Cesar provided excellent service. Or favorite restaurants aside from the Caribe were Taj, Algave, Gracie, Zen and Hunters steakhouse in that order. Steaks were good but all sides were served on the cold side. Cudos also to Manuel and Alejandro at the main lobby bar. Thanks for chilling our wine glasses and excellent expresso martinis. Overall we enjoyed this resort but have to cover the bad. We preselected our rooms and paid for the privilege. Our friend who joined us a week later also booked and paid for an adjoining room. On arrival we were told our room was already occupied and tried to switch us to an inferior room in another building overlooking kids pool. After much discussion they put us in a swim up for 2 days and moved us to a room in the same building. Day 3 was spent babysitting our passports while waiting til after 3 for the new room. They did not want to refund our booking fee because our room was in the same building. Also they guaranteed our friend would get the adjoining room. Guess what? She ended up with room on another floor opposite side of building. They moved her to her original room next day and her 2nd day was spent waiting for new room. In the end money was refunded.

The beach is very nice , not Cuba beach , but OK , some rocks, watchout. Food OK , if you are young and not fussy. For those that need Wifi , you are in luck, works great in the room. So ,everything considered , and after visiting over 30 resorts in the caribbean , and because it offers all the amenities we require , I admit we will obviously return. its like going to wal-mart , not always the cheapest , nor the best , but it supplies all the necessities , so why look elsewhere , as we have found that elsewhere there are disappointments galore.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great. Family vacation

We just got back from a family vacation here and it was such a great place to go. Our toddler had an absolute blast and everyone was so friendly! We thought the whole resort was well kept and clean. No issues with anything of that nature at all. The restaurants were a bit hard to get into as we could not make reservations (we were not diamond club) which was a bit tricky with young kids and early bedtimes. We did get into a few of the restaurants and we had very pleasant experiences (just not wi [... read more]th the sports bar). I had trouble with the crib provided as it had a thick soft mattress and a mattress that did not fit (2 inch gap around) with a small infant so I did request a new crib and was given a pack n play which worked perfectly for my little guy. Overall we had a great experience as a group of 10 (6 adults, 2 toddlers and two “babies”).

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Fun times.

We took our family to this resort for a week. Age range 3-66. There were 10 of us. Good: fantastic tasty,amazing variety of food at the buffet. Service was awesome. Tables accommodated us all at 1 table. The beach club had great fish and chicken fingers also with many others fresh options for lunch. Delicious. Also great service. So many places to explore. Lots of pools and chairs. Beach was awesome with snorkeling and fish in the protected swim area. Lots of activity made the water murky  [... read more]at times. Beach was perfect for our 3,7,8,9 year olds. Pools were cool but swimmable. Ocean was warmer than the pool. All areas were very clean. Entertainment was very good. Kids participated in the Moana show. Trolleys were plentiful and reliable. There was a lot of walking and as the week progressed we found shorter routes to the places we wanted to go. The walk on the beach from Akumal to Tulum resorts was easy and enjoyable about 10 minutes. Swimming with dolphins was at Tulum. Bonus. Staff was amazing everywhere. Helpful and friendly. The kids really enjoyed the animals. Iguanas, coatis, and little brown no tailed “wumps” we called them. Were everywhere. They ran if approached so didn’t bother anyone. Fun to watch. People fed them and the coatis would get close with feeding. We did not feed them. Down side: big resort that had lots of walking. We love to walk so it was fine and the walkways are well kept and maintained so no issues with getting around. Trolleys were available and reliable arriving about every 15 minutes and picked up along the way if you decided not to walk. Priority was provided for those with mobility issues, the young and old we found. Rooms were a bit tired but clean. Our bed was comfortable but our daughter found hers hard. The sitting area turned into a bed so was great for the kids. Overall great resort that we were happy to experience for the 2nd time. Great kids pool areas at Tulum and Coba resorts which were accessible by trolley or on foot. Our group divided and did Ek Balan tour which was amazing. Deep sea fishing also good and dolphin swim-amazing. Should you require medical attention it is available at the market, also accessible by trolley on the resort. It was very good too. We really enjoyed our stay. We will return.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Enjoyable trip

We enjoyed our stay and Bahia Principe Grand Coba. We were there for New Year's Eve and was impressed with the big party they prepared. We also liked the 3 story units with 8 rooms on our half of the building on our floor versus a big hotel experience. We were disappointed there was only one volleyball court that was shared amongst the 2 hotels. It would be ideal if a second volleyball court for children was added so people who know how to play volleyball could enjoy the game. Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Not terrible but wouldn't recommend for families

Pros: Beautiful grounds Cons: Beach/pools - No nice beach area where kids can run into the water (very rocky). Pools were incredibly cold and quite dirty. For a family resort, it wasn't very family friendly - Despite requesting a crib/pack n play and being told repeatedly there would be one (prior to the visit and upon check in), we did not receive one and were told it's because of a "liability". If we had been informed this prior, we could have planned appropriately. Quite irresponsib [... read more]le for a family resort to not provide adequate beds for all ages of children. Food times are also not amenable to young kids (no food prior to 7 am, minimal food options between buffet times and long wait times). Kids shows/activities also don't start until 8:30/9 pm Rooms - we were without water for ~24h in our room. We kept being told it would be fixed in 30 minutes and someone would be by - this didn't occur. Food - Food was mediocre at best. Buffet food was always cold (even though we were first to arrive in the am). Ordered room service multiple times however, doesn't come ~50% of the time. Service - service was quite poor. Resort staff seem quite irritated at any request and hesitate to help

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great Family/Kids Resort

I could talk at length about this resort. Overall it's a great spot for families and checks off all the boxes of things. Rooms are excellent for families of 4 with kids under 12(ish), resort is beautiful, and there is a lot of things to do on the resort. I found that staff to be excellent, and service wait time was very fast (minutes). This resort could easily be a 10/10 in exception to the food. There is essentially one buffet and there was always a lineup. The food was very repetitive an [... read more]d mediocre at best. The layout of the buffet is terrible as it promotes lineups instead of sectioning things off and spreading people out to access the buffet. Restaurants were very difficult to book and we eventually gave up. We were able to get two of them, Italian & Brazilian. Italian was very weak. Food came out cold and was ok at best. Brazilian was incredible. The buffet section was superior to everything in the resort in exception to the amazing main dishes. It was easily the highlight of food on the resort. Other than the food this place was fantastic. I suspect we will be back again before our kids are in their teens. On another note, it's not great for elderly people. The walking surfaces are not great for those with knee/hip issues, and you might get stuck on the third floor without an elevator. Just something to think about if your in laws/parents are tagging along and are not as mobile at they once were. There is also a lot of walking (which I actually really like). Something to consider for those who are less inclined to be moving around. With that said, it's also dependant on where your room is located, and where you plan to be each day and your overall activity level (review the map). I think this spot can easily be a 5 star if they fix their food situation. Some of it is variety, some is quality, some is the structure. All could easily be fixed with minor renovation, organization, and food selection.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Terrible Resort

This resort is the worst I have ever been too. No entertainment. Front desk staff are very ignorant. Bars close at 11:00 and don’t open til 11:00. Beach is not maintained and if you don’t get up and put towels on a chair by 5:00 am you won’t have a chair on beach or around pool. Line up early for ala carted or you are waiting forever. I would never return here.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good time!

My boyfriend and I had a great time at Coba, however we had no idea how large the resort was. We had to change our room after the first day because we had a broken toilet, no hot water or pressure and we seemed quite far from the 2 main pools. The front desk had someone fix the toilet immediately and they moved us without any issues. We didn't love having to take the shuttle to the beach but it came regularly so it wasn't that big of a deal. The best thing about the resort was the food and d [... read more]rinks. We got lucky with good weather which made it even better.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Hidden costs and understaffed

I had a nice room and the food was really good. However, this “all inclusive” resort had a ton of hidden costs which were never mentioned to me upon check in - room service delivery charge, the coffee shop was not free, ice cream shop was not free, the daybeds were almost $200 USD a day to rent, a lot of the lunch specials weren’t included such as the lobster day, and lots of the wines at dinner were an extra cost etc. I’ve never been to an all inclusive like that and it was honestly really frus [... read more]trating. It was extra frustrating that they did not even let you know what was and wasn’t included upon check in. Further, the a la carte restaurants were a nightmare to navigate. You could only make a reservation at the Italian one for some reason? However, even that was next to impossible to get. As a result, expect to wait at least an hour at the restaurants unless you go right when they open up. You would sometimes be waiting for a table and there would be a bunch of empty ones, likely because they are understaffed and can’t accommodate that many guests at once. Some of the bars near the ocean had consistently long wait times as well. In terms of entertainment, there was no theatre for shows. I’ve never been to an all inclusive without that before. They try to do some little shows outside near the lobby but seating is limited and they weren’t that great compared to other resorts I’ve been to. There is no disco like most resorts have. Overall, I’d say this is more a time share by the beach type of place rather than your typical all inclusive. The staff were all lovely and the food was above average. However, the hidden costs, wait times, and lack of entertainment were disappointing.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Amazing Travel Agent

Mike was really great. Helped us along the way, kept in touch and was very responsive. Was happy to have him as we were travelling as a group and with children. Will use him in the future for sure and would recommend him to anyone

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Great Resort

This hotel is situated perfectly right on the beach with all the restaurants and shops centrally located. Food is really good, service was excellent and entertainment was also very good. The room needs refreshing-a coat of paint would be helpful but very comfortable bed and nice big bathroom that was never short on hot water. Air conditioning also worked great. We took advantage of the spa services and were very happy with the experience. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Decent resort!

The grounds of the hotel were very spread out and travelling with a mobility challenged person was hard as 1/2 elevators did not work! Very quiet not real sociable or a lot of activities. Food was plentiful and very good. Entertainment was very little. They did have golf carts but the wait and the occupancy was very busy. they pushed their timeshares apon arrival but if you avoided the lobby, you were fine and not harassed. I would recommend for a quick cheap getaway but not for any length of time.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Beautiful resort!

Our stay here was amazing. The food was exceptional. The buffet wasn’t always the greatest but the eight(!!) a la carte restaurants more than made up for it and every restaurant was outstanding. The room was spacious with everything we could have wanted. The pools were always clean and the bar staff were always so friendly and responsive.

Catalonia Yucatan: Second Class Guest

This was our 7th stay at the Catalonia Yucatan Beach and it will be our last. We loved staying at this Resort. At the time we booked (August) all the ‘Specialty’ Restaurants were included. Just before our final payment (December 8, 2023) we noticed that the website for the Catalonia Yucatan Beach no longer included the Japanese, Steak House or B’loved restaurants. We contacted Trip Central about this and they in turn contacted Westjet Vacations. We were told not to worry we would be able to go [... read more] to all of the restaurants. When we got to the Catalonia Yucatan we found out that NO, we did not have access to the Japanese, the Steak House or B’loved restaurants. When the guests of the sister hotel Catalonia Riviera had access to everywhere, we definitely felt like second class guests.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Wonderful resort

Very clean, has attentive staff, excellent food choices and quality. A great location right in the middle.of Playa Del Carmen. The rooms are large and look very nice. The little beach is also very nice and kept clean regularly.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing

This hotel provides the best of both worlds - you get the experience of an all inclusive and also the experience of the Xcaret Park which is beside the resort. The staff are friendly and attentive; the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. You get to see wildlife basically at your door every day. They have multiple international restaurants and the main buffet dining room provide a large variety of dishes that meet everyone's needs. The food is fresh, well presented and delicious.
