Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Nice resort, kind staff yet disappointing service

The administration of this hotel, although very polite, doesn’t know their job. Our electronic entrance door didn’t work and it took them 2 days to repair the lock. It took them 2 days to resolve broken toilet problem. The food was OK but it felt the hotel was struggling with supplies. The handling of covid regulations was ridiculous: they require now wearing a mask from guests, yet allowing restaurants to be overcrowded. It was painful to see all staff in masks in places where the chance of [... read more] catching the virus would be equivalent to zero. The hotel however I believe tries its best to survive in these difficult times and I wish them the best.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: BED BUGS! Amazing staff

staff was very accommodating but I had alot of issues with my rooms.. yes I changed rooms 3 times. 1 of the rooms had bed bugs 😭 1 was a decent room and my first room my toilet didn't flush! the food was decent if you eat pork. which i don't but I ate chicken from the snack bar alot entertainment was good and the pools were nice. but I have to commend the staff who went over and above to make my stay amazing! check ur beds thoroughly before settling in your room

Melia Costa Rey: amazing hotel

la cart food was great except for the japanese rest.washrooms needs more hygiene i told main desk i notice more improvement overalls its a lovely place to windy need to bring a jacket entertainment is magic they work really hard and do such amazing job loved one of the best places for entertainment i will go back again.

Nice resort, rooms are clean and bright, beach is beautiful except the constant blaring music from 10am- 5pm (very annoying) food a little lacklustre (there are more inventive ways of making beef and pork), but people smoking everywhere. The pool was average - circular and not very impressive. Would be nice if a) there were designated smoking areas and NO music on the beac. Gran Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo: a TRUE GEM of a hotel. a MUST STAY

So my partner and I just spent a week at the Gran Muthu Rainbow hotel. I can honestly say that it was the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at in Cuba and we have been to about 13 or 13 others. The hotel had just opened a week ago and as such the hotel was pretty l and ight on guests (we were guests 76 and 77) but each day more and more people arrived. Once cleared we were free to wear or not wear a mask as we pleased. WHAT A RELIEF to feel normal again. The staff were friendly the rooms out of this world! The guests were a mix of gay and straight... some Cuban visitors and those of us from Toronto as well as Montreal. We had no issues or felt uncomfortable. The hotel was clear to all locals this was an LGBTQ friendly resort and disrespect would not be tolerated. Overall we had a good deal of fun with everyone... local and otherwise. If there is one thing they will need to work on .... it would be the music. Same playlists got old pretty fast but this is an easy fix and one that many of us brought to thier attn. As they were newly opened, not all the a la carte's were open but the Indian night was and it was insanely delicious. Don't miss out on that one! The buffet was a work in progress but they were working on it everyday! Overall it was quite decent! Overall this was one of our favorite vacations in Cuba ever and we are for sure heading back soon!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Cheap and cheerful

First off, Covid test. Upon arriving we were given rapid testing and once results were negative we’re able to check in. Hotel was packed lots of Cubian style food, beer and rum. Hotel was a little tired looking but lots of staff cleaning and minding the grounds. PCR test was easy, 30USD paid only on Visa. They don’t except cash only for tips and only want $CND dollars, make sure to get your Coivd results at front desk before going to Airport. Melia Cayo Coco: Beautiful resort

The resort is designed for friendship. Everything is in close proximity the beach is wonderful the pool is very nice plenty places to lounge on. The staff are very nice The food is good but not wow. They were not at the full capacity when we were there so some of the restaurants were not open yet. Overall we enjoyed our stay tremendously. I wish they have better entertainment programs though it became repetitive after a while.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: So happy to able to visit Cuba again.

This was our second visit to Memories Caribe. And it did not disappoint. We were pleased and impressed with how the Cubans have adapted to the current situation and their efforts to protect tourists. All the staff was masked at all times inside and out. We liked the changes in the buffet, tables were set quickly once we were seated, all foods were served by an employee and they tried their best to keep people back by use of a yellow line on the floor. Beautiful clean sand beach ! People are friendly , front desk staff helpful knowledgeable with all questions. Buffet food is good but wish have more veggies. The reserve restaurant meal portion too small. The entertainment is good. Hope they can solve the mosquitoes problem . Thanks

Melia Cayo Coco: Golden Two Week Stay

From the airport to the arrival at the hotel we felt taken care of by the Cubans. We filled out our health declaration and it was processed in a reasonable length of time, our temperatures taken and then we were transported to our hotel. Options to purchase beer on the bus were welcomed for the short ride to Melia Cayo Coco. There we were greeted with colourfully dressed dancers and delightful cocktails. We immediately went to a cooler waiting area where each person received a rapid covid [... read more] test. When cleared we were free to go to our rooms via golf cart. The cleaning standard was exceptional. Rooms were fresh and well appointed. In fact each day the room attendants did a thorough cleaning with those cute towel and bed cover displays of swans and other artistic arrangements of blankets or towels. Delivery of 2 beers, a cola and 2 liters of bottled water happened every day like clockwork. Cuba being tropical we had an exciting thunderstorm with spectacular lightening and the predictable power outage. The power was not out very long and at least half of the electrical sockets came back on along with the air conditioning within a couple of hours. The morning lobby coffee service was always perfect. Every staff wore masks, even the outdoor staff in the gardens and on the beaches. We missed the smiles but still felt the sincerity and politeness from the servers. The beach was very clean and guests followed the rules of not leaving plastic cups or smoking materials on the beach around the chairs and sunbeds. A tractor raked the sand and seaweed at the shore but for me signs of a living beach don't need to be raked away. For some reason they scheduled the tractor when the beach was open with guests in the water. Not sure why they chose to place an entire Bon Jovi album and 6 versions of an Ed Sheerin song at the beach everyday but they did until the 11:30 dance class when they switched back to Cuban and international Latin artists. Same with the evening lobby music, they need to shake that up with Latin songs. Food was good for Cuba with the fresh fruit, juices and yogurt, attractive desserts and ice cream to small portion appetizer bowls and fresh cooked fish, seafood and meats with compliments of vegetables, pastas, bread and cheese. Everything was served to us at the buffet which was the best safety measure and ensured less food waste. The only thing you could pick up were the small appetizer bowls and plated bread and the odd individual sides at the main entrée section of the buffet. I hope they keep this system in place all the time. Walks through the gardens was always a treat as they are so well kept. The mosquitos are very bad in this area of Cuba and for some reason they kept flying into my face which I had to dab with repellent every morning and evening to avoid bites. They had a biplane fly over the resort every couple of days to keep the population down and some gardeners with back packs of insecticide and a blower walking around the pool and lobby every night at sunset. All told, a very good resort and you can see why there are so many return visitors.

It’s a beautiful hotel with some rooms who need maybe a little bit of love but the personnel make all the difference. You really feel like you are part of the family !! Beach is amazing for long walk and big enough to to have your own chair !!

we had a wonderful time at the resort the only negative thing to say is that on the weekends they allow the Cubans to come in for the weekend and they are very disrespectful, left all there garbage around, cups in the pool, smoking in the pool, loud, wasteful of food and drinks and I would not go back to this resort due to this.

Melia Cayo Coco: Incredible Experience

From the moment you step off the bus, the staff of Melia Cayo Coco are your family. A cool drink, with or without rum, is handed to you, and a hearty welcome is extended. Despite physical distancing, and mandatory masks, the excitement and smiles of the staff are intoxicating. Food is served with a smile, wait staff always chats for a moment, engaged in your daily activities. The beach is amazing, we did not spend more than 30 minutes all week under cloud cover, and the water is beautifully sparkly and warm. All in all, the Melia is well deserving of their reputation as a top resort. We will absolutely be back.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Very good vacation

The good was the incredible beach and the amazing service all through the resort. A la carte restaurants were very good as well. Only Cuban and Mediterranean were open. The bad was the first night I was eaten alive by sand fleas in my bed. I reported it to the front desk and they sprayed my bed and that seemed to fix the problem. Mosquitoes were quite active at sunset and really bad at dawn. Overall a good vacation and I would go again.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: In paradise at Paraiso

Public areas, dinners, rooms, clean and well maintained. Loved the long walks on the beach and the beautiful view at the Mirador. Customer service outstanding. Special thanks to all the people from the dinners and bars who served and spoiled us with love and care ❤. Good entertainment day and night This was our third time at this hotel.

Great gardens and entertainment. Food was delicious. Staff was friendly. Will be be back soon.. Enjoyed the beach and activities like tennis and ping pong at the resort. Staff was attentive and the rooms were well taken care of and clean.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beach is amazing

I was not a fan of not having any doors on the bathrooms or showers. The room we had was in fairly good condition and fairly big, however the AC wasn't to cold and dripped causing us to put a towel on the floor.(Not a big deal for us) Not all the restaurants and bars were open due to COVID but we were ok with that. It was mandatory to wear a mask indoor, however all the European (Russian) travelers did not and the handful of Canadians on the resort were the only ones who wore a mask indoor [... read more] when walking around. We received a COVID test at the Cuban airport upon arrival and from our resort (30 US dollars) 72 hours before departure. It was well organized and we received our negative certificate the day before leaving. The mosquitos at this time were awful so come prepared. We went for the beach which was white sand, clear bottom, shallow for about 500m and warm water. Bring salts and sauces if you don't like plan food.
