Playa Pesquero: Very nice resort

Staff is very friendly and beer garden food is good . Lobby bar is excellent. Cart services are friendly and helpful . Rooms are good but needs to be upgraded. Mattress needs to be upgraded . Night shows are entertaining

nous y avons passe 2 semaines, la mer est belle ,les installations sont propres et le personnel acceuillant (beaucoup d enrte eux parlent francais) nous avons eux de belles temperatures ( l hiver c est plus chaud la-bas qu a Varadero)..

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Awesome vacation resort!

The rooms were good , nicely laid out and clean. The gardens were beautiful. All the public areas were well designed and clean. The pathways need to have better lighting. We used our phone so a flashlight.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Quiet but definitely worth the money!

The hotel was very nice and staff was great. Rooms were a little dated but very clean. Pools were very well cared for and all bars were welcoming and clean. There was a lot of construction and updating going on so not all restaurants were open. There was an issue with beer contracts so no beer in stocked fridge about 80% of time. Once these issues are rectified the hotel will be perfect. We worked around these few issues and our stay was great! I would definitely return and plan to!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Prepare to be pampered!

This place was a little slice of heaven. The food was absolutely first rate and the staff go above and beyond to cater to your every need! Spa is first rate with excellent treatments available. Spectacular grounds as well!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Green Oasis

We loved our week here just before Christmas 2018. The gounds are vast and beautiful - trees and flowers everywhere. The pool is spectacular and the beach very nice. Rooms are very big and attractive, with large balconies or patios. Everything worked as it should in the room. But, as many have said, the biggest plus of this hotel is undoubtedly the staff, who really are exceptional.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Boutique hotel quality-highly recommended!

Third time back and Sol Rio is as wonderful as ever. We've been at resorts all across Cuba and in the Dominican and the Sol Rio is the ony hotel we've returned to. Why? The beach itself is beautiful, lovely sand, sheltered, neither too shallow or too deep, with coral reefs further out. The hotel is perfectly situated on a low hill overlooking the water that allows beautiful views from the grounds, bedrooms and buffet hall without a long hike to the water or a super steep climb. The buildings are oriented in the bay to optimize the views of the water and trees, so everywhere you sit you have a beautiful view of the water and the palm trees. There are lots of nice green spaces around the hotel and the small Las Guanas park, for people who like walking or bird-watching. The food is very well done--loads of fresh fruit and vegetables, a number of grilling stations, gelato-quality ice cream at lunch and dinner, and a good blend of Cuban and North American food on offer. Yes, some of it is repetitive but there is so much to start with that it is not hard to choose a different selection every lunch and dinner or repeat your favourites. Sidebar--mini rant--why do people complain about food in Cuba? 1. It is extremely ungracious, considering hefty North American tourists inhale in one sitting a quantity and variety of food that regular Cubans don't get to eat in a month, or at all . 2. To eat fresh, organic fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, as well as artisanal, home-baked breads and cheese of this quality in a Montreal or Ottawa restaurant, along with wine, bottomless Spanish coffees, and a selection of pastries, fruit, and home-made ice cream would be a $100-$200/person/ meal even in the summer, impossible in the winter. Two weaknesses of this hotel--the cocktails were not as well done as at some other places and the exterior of the buildings is somewhat shabby. But substitute some of the amazing Spanish coffees and spend your time on the beach or in the lobby admiring the ocean views on one side and palm trees and low hills on the other and you will soon be in your happy place.. Highly recommended, especially for people looking for a boutique hotel experience on a lower budget!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Good trip

Resort was older however we had a great time. All beds are brand new and the most comfortable I’ve had anywhere in Cuba! However my superior room was the worst I’ve ever had. Very small, curtains that weren’t fully hanging, sliding door you needed 2 people to open, cock roach in my bathroom, rusty tub, ceiling tiles falling down. They wanted additional 5 cuc per person per night to move to a totally renovated “deluxe” room. The beach is amazing as always which is why we’ve been to holguin 4x. Snorkelling is top notch, feed the fish a banana and you will be amazed! I did not find the staff as friendly as playa costa verde. I would think about going back but only once the hotel has been fully renovated as the superior rooms are really in poor condition.

Playa Pesquero: Our favorite place to go.

We told the food and beverage manager that we had been coming there for 14 years and every time we came back there were improvements. Ten years after Ike the grounds have rebounded and the grounds are beautiful.

Playa Pesquero: Great resort.

Rooms were comfortable, very clean. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Food was good as well as the drinks. Grounds well maintained. Beach is wonderful. Would like to have improved lighting in room at bedside. Sign on a check out managed well.

Really enjoyed my week at Playa Pesquero. The room was spacious and very clean.Service from the maids, bartenders and all those working in the dining rooms make our stay enjoyable. Great variety of food and drinks available.

I have stayed here on several occasions and found the ongoing improvements being made to the resort this trip a memorable vacation. From the ease of booking with my travel agent to a seamless and upgraded welcome from the staff..it was great!

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Amazing vacation!

This was definitely one of the nicer hotels I have stayed in. Newly built and opened it did not disappoint! The rooms were a great size and beautifully decorated. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The cigar bar by the lobby was a great place to spend time and the staff was very educated. Overall an amazing hotel, would love to go back again soon!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: good resort

I purchased an all inclusive flight from toronto to Holguin Cuba. When i was checking in for the flight at pearson airport they stopped me and told me that i am not all inclusive, and that i must pay an extra fee for my luggage or i would not be able to board the plane. I showed them the copy of my all inclusive vacation & flight, and refused to pay because i knew i purchased an all inclusive package, but they continually denied it, and started called and emailed numerous people, this took over  [... read more]1 hour of my time, but afterwards they told me they made a mistake and let me board and proceeded to tell me that they fixed the error and that i would not have a problem when boarding my returning flight. I was upset. 1 week later I went to Board my return flight from Holguin to toronto, we had the same issue concerning my luggage, and they once again refused to let me board with my luggage unless i paid an additional Fee. Once again I showed them the copy of my all inclusive vacation & flight, But they Directed me to numerous buildings and officials to talk to, when i returned to the boarding station the person at the front had called the police and immigration officers, they were all waiting for me and told me i had to take a different flight and was not allowed to board this one under any circumstances. so again they forced me to go to immigration office where i was questioned, demoralized, and they opened my luggage damaging some of the contents inside. until finally they once again admitted to their mistake and let me board the plane. This made me upset and angry and that should not have happened.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Wonderful Vacation!!

We came home on Sunday night after having a wonderful vacation. The hotel was perfect. The Cappuccino with chocolate liqueur was absolutely delicious! It was my first trip with my boyfriend and I am so glad we chose this destination and this hotel. We would definitely go back. Our room had lots of hot water, great service from the maid and in a great location. Lots of stairs at this hotel, so not so good for someone with mobility issues. We had no problem at all. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: last experience

we all had a great time, although the food needs improvement. the buffet is really bad. if we had a la carte more often we may go back. service was poor this year both at the bar & the buffet. too many rude people at the resort ( locals) Sunwing needs more space for their taller passengers, i came out of the 4 hour flight with a leg & knee injury that is still bothering me. there should be a height restriction for safety reasons on a plane

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful location

Enjoyed our stay. Beautiful location grounds and rooms. Beach snorkeling was so accessible and fun. Food at a la cartes was a let down. Buffet was decent. Beach restaurant was always nice for lunch. Glad I got a good deal when booking, will not likely return unless can pay much lower than average price. Overall very relaxing and gorgeous views. Spa was good value with coupons

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Total Peace

We visited this hotel December 7-14 for our second time. We were there when Castro died and wanted to go back when things were fully operational. It was a perfect week. From check in and greeting to the moment of departure, we could not find one thing to complain about. We were so surprised to be invited to a returning guest dinner at the beach and enjoyed that thoroughly. Day after day of perfection. Playa Pesquero: Resort

The resort was nice but the food was terrible and the cleaning of the rooms was terrible . Our room in one week was maybe cleaned twice . We had to beg for towels and toilet paper. The resort itself was very nice though, beautiful pool and beach.
