Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Not a 5 Star

Beautiful resort however they need to improve on customer service, i.e service with a smile, would have given more tips…the resort should have more to do in the evening very boring Jennifer was the best server in the lounge area

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Resort

The beaches are clean and nice. Service personnel were kind. Overall, we are staying at this hotel for the second time (the fifth time in Cuba and the third time in Holguin). Paradisus Rio de Oro is the perfect cost-effective choice.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Better than expected, given some of the reviews.

My wife and I travel to Cuba frequently. We know and understand the troubles of the country... politics aside, Cuba needs a lot of work. In the meantime, let's not forget we don't go there for the food, or the quality of anything... we go there, because it fits our budget!!! That said, a lot of attention to detail is missing, a lot of staff training is required, service industry etiquette needs a ton of work; BUT... Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Better then I expected

The rooms were OK little outdated. The grounds were pretty good. The food was better than I expected. The drinks were good. The staff was awesome but it’s Cuba ran out of toilet paper around the pool area a lot Had a little bit of trouble with hot water, but got it resolved overall I would go back.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Excellent Experience

The hotel was clean and well maintained. We did not encounter a single person that didn’t stop and smile or say hello. The goal of this resort is for people to be able to unplug and reconnect. It was everything it promised. We made new friends and reconnected ourselves.

Melia Jardines del Rey: A sub par experience!

Although initial expectations would not be considered unreasonably high given the current state of the country, there were some glaring issues that we encountered which if rectified could have made our trip better. On the third day, sewage began leaking in front of our hotel block. The leak remained all week and no one attended to it. Throughout the week staff and lifegaurds were observed consuming alcohol during their shift. And lastly trash began accumulating quickly often left for days ( cups floating in the pool, plates on the beach) and the grounds past the main building were unkept. Though there were some amazing staff who attempted to make the stay enjoyable , the aforementioned issues could not be ignored. Overall, even with our relatively low standards in which we entered the resort, we still felt disappointed, the Melia Jardines Del Rey is not a 4+ star even in Cuba

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Very Happy with our Stay

This resort exceeded our expectations. It was clean and had a modern vibe. Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating, with only a couple of exceptions. The food was surprisingly delicious, and we had no issues with power or shortages during our stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this resort and would gladly return. 5 stars

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Great Time at the Grand Aston!

The hotel is fairly new and everything is kept very clean. The rooms are modern and fresh and we always had a nice hot shower, clean towels and bottled water. The lobby bar has great staff, amazing coffee in the morning and fun shows in the evening. The buffet food is decent, you can always find something however we liked to take our food and eat outside. The snack bar by the beach offers pizza at 12:30 which is a good snack and there is also the snack bar. The beach is beautiful and the pools a [... read more]re nice. The week we went had a fair amount of wind and cloud but that could not be helped. We were able to try 3 of the a la carte restaurants, Mexican (least fave) Italian and Brazilian and they were both quite good. We stayed in Bungalow 9 which was close to the beach and the pools but not attached to the main lobby which we loved. As long as you have reasonable expectations for the food, you will enjoy this resort very much.

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing Resort!!

This was our first time at Hotel Playa Vista, and we had an amazing time! Room was very clean, staff were beyond amazing and there was always plenty of food and alcohol. They always kept us entertained!

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Was beautiful for many reasons

My only criticism involves the quality of the food, especially pertaining to the lack of fresh fruit and absence of late-morning pastry...sadly, the ala cartes (sic) were no better than the buffet. Sadly, I will not be returning to Cuba i the near future because I can find better value for my money elsewhere.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Quel endroit de rêve!

Rio de Oro, c’est le plus beau complexe hôtelier de Cuba et le Royal service est encore plus luxueux. Les chambres sont spacieuses, les lits et la literie de très bonne qualité, la salle de bain incroyable avec un immense bain et pour couronner le tout, une douche extérieure dans une enceinte de pierre avec végétation. La nourriture est excellente, digne des plus grands restaurants et opulente. Le bar est très bien garni avec de bons alcools; à chaque jour de très bons vins et du rhum Santiago 12 ans. Nous n’avons manqué de rien durant tout notre séjour. La plage est superbe, sable comme de la farine et il est possible, de la plage, d’atteindre le corail pour faire du snorkling. very nice well-kept grounds and beach same tasteless food every day, some basic items were not available the special diner for Canadians were excellent we had to fill out twice the required entry/custom papers for Cuba and nobody were asking for them this was very upsetting.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Iberostar Origin Daiquiri is so nice.

The variety of food was very good considering this is Cuba. The resort was clean. Staff was friendly and the stores were open often. The pools were clean and maintained. The beach was awesome. The activities were plentiful. Room service was great. The rooms themselves were a bit dated. Fridge worked. We had hot water in the shower. Suggestions: they need to install more hooks. We had nowhere to hang up our wet towels and swim suits. We could have used an extra dresser as well.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Nice New Hotel

Service was non-existent... Wasn't even able to acquire bottles of water. Had been asking for days. Bars have no menus and servers can be rude. Beach was possibly the worst in Varadero. The hotel itself was beautiful. New and modern. The food was surprisingly not too bad. The A la carte options are great. Night entertainment was a hit and miss

Memories Jibacoa: Good resort!

We stayed from Dec. 17 to Dec. 28. The resort is well maintained. All staff - dining room, lobby, bars and cleaning staff are very friendly and helpful. The entertainment is very good, but it is much too loud!! We hear it very comfortably in our rooms (whether we want to or not), and it is not an easy listening experience outside at the stage. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful Resort

We stayed here from December 20-27 and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed on the Royal side which was marvelous and had excellent service and food, but we also spent time on the other side which was also great. No shortages at all in terms of food or alcohol. We would definitely return again, thanks so much Tammy Beamish for helping us to arrange this much needed vacation!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Another excellent stay

This was our 4th time at Memories Flamenco. Outstanding beach, food is good, staff are excellent (Janet in the Lobby Bar, and Limay in Diamond Club restaurant were standouts in particular). This is Cuba….. beautiful people, beautiful land, beautiful ocean. Unbelievable value for the money,

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great place

Overall it was a great trip. Quiet hotel, friendly staff. Food was good. Huge spread on Christmas Eve. Obviously there were some shortages of certain food supplies. But this didn't matter to us. We went with the flow and were grateful for such a great holiday. Nobody bugs you to buy stuff on the beach. We felt incredibly safe. Met some amazing people and went on a couple of great trips.

Sol Cayo Coco: Fantastic resort

The resort is great. It’s not fancy, but very well maintained and clean.very quiet, not too busy. There was always plenty of places to sit and relax. The food was good, we could always find something we liked to eat. The most amazing part of our trip was the resort staff, from the front desk to the bar and restaurant staff to housekeepers to the groundskeepers and the amazing entertainment staff. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great location and great staff!

This is our second time going and both the location and staff make this place a gem. People keep saying you don't go to Cuba for the food, but we also had zero problems with the food -there was a good variety and it was fresh, clean and well presented. If I wanted French cuisine I'd go to France. At times were there issues with low water pressure and not a lot of hot water? Yes, but plan accordingly - we had no problems with that either, as long as we weren't trying to have a shower at 5:00  [... read more]when everybody's coming off the beach. I'd also recommend the VIP package at the airport, we did it the 2nd time and it made the airport leaving a very relaxing experience.
