Very flat and ease of walking to resort's attractions and emenities. Good mix of restaurants and wonderful food for the most part. Very likeable staff and pleasant to be around.
Room was great. We were on the third floor with a nice big covered balcony. Our building had 84 units; with 2 sets of stairs and 2 elevators at opposite ends of the building.
A good resort for all ages. A nice main lobby with a big main bar, seating areas and piano bar. The Air Transat rep was present and very helpful[... read more]. We did not seek an adults only section or an upgraded room this time and were pleasantly surprised at our satisfaction. Lots to do for kids and pools and beach areas for everyone. Nice place and would recommend to anyone.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Wouldn't recommend
Hotel is very tired, desperate for a renovation. Not enough beach chairs or pool chairs. Need to hire more waitstaff. They changed to a "no reservations required" model for the a la carte restaurants, but they don't know how to do this without causing long lines. Updated amenities are shampoo, bath gel and a bar of soap. Beach is great, but the adult pool needs to be re-tiled as most of the 1 inch tiles are missing.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Awesome resort and area
Although this an older resort showing it's age it's still a great place. The food was great in the buffet for all meals, the ala carte restaurants are delicious, our favorite was the Chinese. The pools are clean and the beach area has plenty of chairs and shade. The entertainment crew worked hard and put on great shows and fun activities. We will definitely return one day.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Save yourself the hassle
This resort is the worst I have stayed at, the staff is exceptionally rude. There are many previous comments referring to the rude staff, I should have listened. The cleaning staff are perhaps the exception, as long as they are tipped well.
There is No beach access at night, you will be kicked out of caught on the beach.
Staff refused to let us bring food to our room.
We were Issued ONE KEY CARD per room, we offered to pay for a second card, and were refused. so we had one card to share for t[... read more]he entire week.
on Feb, 10th,2025 we were asked to leave the room for a minimum of 2 hours while they fumigated the room for PLAGUE! I'm not even joking, PLAGUE!!!
The drinks were heavily watered down, I had a hard time getting a buzz on unless I left the resort to get drinks from a local restaurant / Bar.
The buffet was okay if you are able to get creative, some items were okay like the steak, which we made steak sandwiches from and one night they had fried chicken which was pretty good, but the majority of items at the buffet were basic and bland, of which you had minimal selection.
the restaurants on the resort were not great, specifically the seascape seafood restaurant. We ordered the Octopus, they proceeded to serve us what can only be described as octopus hotdog cut up into a sort of gumbo. It was a egregious insult to my tastebuds. The wait staff are among the rudest staff at the resort.
The good thing about this resort is that you can leave it and the town of Sosua is loaded with restaurants and bars you can hit up instead, with a bustling nightlife. Also you can walk to the public beach where there is some awesome snorkeling, you do not need to pay for a guided tour.
In conclusion the best part of Casa Marina Is leaving Casa marina to go Snorkeling or finding restaurants off site.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: El Beso adults only.
I was okay with hotel and amenities. However I was not happy with the employees friendliness and their lack of English language. It was something I expected from being at resorts in Mexico which was totally opposite.
first room we checked into was old, fridge full of rust, room was run down. We asked a room change and got a newer, updated room.
Next, the resort was not cleaned or maintained as it should be. Garbage floating in pool, staff not caring as much as they should overall.
Food was OK.
Our return flight was delayed so we got transferred to the Dreams CapCana for 2 nights and it was a beautiful resort- newer, very clean, big spacious rooms and huge buffet. I should of stayed here.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Love this resort
We just returned from our 12th trip to Catalonia Royal Bavaro. It is all about the people who work there that makes it our go to happy place. The resort is small so it’s easy to meet people. The rooms are comfortable and clean. We’ve never had any issues with feeling unwell or worrying about food choices. There’s lots of shade on the beach and if you walk a short distance you can find a lovely clear sandy area for swimming. It’s difficult sometimes to find seats (especially with shade) around th[... read more]e pools unless you get up early. Unfortunately there are people who reserve the seats and don’t use them for hours and hours. It’s unfortunate.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Sunscape Coco review
Not what we expected. It rained during our holiday no umbrella in our room. It took me three days of going to the front desk and was told they had no umbrellas left, not acceptable..I upgraded to the sun club but did not see any value for my money.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Windy beach
Overall a very nice hotel, but the beach is windy and full of seaweed. We are beach people so would not go back. Site was very clean but the wind each day made this a no go to return.
The sun sail broke with the strength of the wind and had not been replaced by the time we left, so shade was not that easy to find

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Amazing Resort!
We enjoyed everything about this resort, our room was great and clean! The food and evening entertainment was better than any of the other resorts we vacationed at in Punta Cana. Staff are super friendly!
Just recently spent a week at the Luxury Esmeralda resort and absolutely loved it. I never write reviews but felt this resort deserved one.
Truthfully no real complaints with our stay. We used the app to check in online before arriving which made it easy when we arrived. Also pre booked our dinners at the restaurants. Our room for 3 was great, lots of space for us to all get ready.
The grounds were kept great, staff constantly keeping all areas & bathrooms always clean.

We enjoyed the main pool and want to give shout out to Juan & Carlos for such great service with our drinks all day long! The entertainment staff Hector and Bubalue had such energy and always friendly chatting with everyone.
Also had amazing service from Emanuel our guest services who helped us change a dinner reservation and with our room. Very helpful and pleasant to deal with.
Highly recommend and bonus was we had access to the adult only Ambar resort for the pool, restaurants etc.
Thanks Shannon for a great recommendation!

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: a great week but with some reservations
We had a lovely week but went in with some reservations after reading some of the group comments .
I booked this resort because i had great experiences with the Sunscape Akumal in Mexico. 3 stays there so I thought I knew what to expect
The resort itself is much larger than I expected but well laid out and the grounds are very nice . We booked a swim up sun club adults only room. (room 1102)The room was fine except that the swim up was in the shade pretty much all day. The room was cleaned d[... read more]aily, the mini fridge stocked and clean towels left daily. Only complaint/observation about the room is the layout. There is basically no privacy as the bathroom is pretty much open concept. If you are sharing with anyone other than your signifcant other you may find it a bit uncomfortable as the is only frosted glass to offer privacy.
everything worked fine so no real complaints there .
The beach is good. Very sandy/no rocks in the water but not the crystal clear water you look forward to but again not a huge deal.
Loungers are a huge challenge on this resort so we found Elvin at the towel hut and booked a Bali bed for the 6 days we were there. Worth every penny to not have to be up in the middle of the night to claim a spot. Towels were laid out for us ,pillows supplied and drinks were served throughout the day !!
It was lovely !!
As to food and drinks here's where I was disappointed . The food was mediocher at best. Yes there was lots to choose from but it was so inconsistent! Hot food wasn't hot, food was either over cooked or undercooked . Foods that were prepared ahead of time were left to sit far too long before being replaced. Learned very quickly to have them cook to order at the grill at the buffet. The a la carte restaurants were very under staffed ,so often there were long waits to be served but we did enjoy the Bluewater grill and the Tierra where we had dinner twice. The house wine wasn't bad but the quality of the cocktails was disappointing as they used lesser quality alcohol, even in Sun Club. The margarita I had the first evening was not good . Baileys was always unavailable as they would say they just ran out so I stuck with white wine for the most part.
All in all we had a great week ,weather was fantastic and the staff here try their best with what they have. Think of this as more of a 3.5 star and go with lower expectations and you will be fine . Relax and enjoy the warm weather !!

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Not a 4.5 star resort
Traveled the last week of January 2025. Beach: stong current, if you are not a strong swimmer, it could take you down the beach. Wear beach shoes, a bit rocky in spots. Rooms: we had a ground floor room with no air conditioning, the bathroom tub wouldn't drain. We to the front desk 3 times, they send someone to look at it but never fixed it. Beds are very comfortable. Food: lots of variety but cold unless you stood in the lineup to have it cooked while you wait. Drinks: absolutely no alcohol in [... read more]the drinks. They mix the drinks well for taste but for mucho mucho rum added it didn't give a kick at all. The beer was the same. Tastes like beer but no kick to it. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: 3.5 stars
The resort was very nice. Clean, rooms were lovely (apart from the weird open concept bathrooms). Resort staff were wonderful and accommodating. The biggest downside was the food. Absolutely abysmal. Undercooked, overcooked, pasty, frequently mislabeled. This part was really a turnoff. The beach was fine, not the best not the worst.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Awful resort would not recommend to anyone
Horrible service, dated and dirty resort, no one spoke English or French other than the concierge who was also unhelpful. Rooms had only 1 out of the 5 outlets working. Food was just as bad as the service. Also bottom of the barrel alcohols, just such a low quality resort I would have preferred Cuba and I would have saved around 800$ each.
To elaborate more, the staff are so focused on speaking to one another, hugging even kissing one another to actually provide any type of service. They ha[... read more]ve their hand out for tips (literally), several of the bartenders bad attitudes especially the one at the pool bar. We also heard the employees making fun of some of the clients who didn’t understand Spanish.
Check in process left us waiting for a room for 2 hours.
Beach vendors will legitimately harass you every day, some of them are aggressive in the way they approach aswell.
The pool is unheated and unkept.
The only positives that I could find are that our room was cleaned and replaced everyday and the beach was ok, nothing spectacular.
Overall seriously if you are thinking about booking this resort I’d look elsewhere where… unless there’s a 50% discount this place is not worth your money.
Just to add we made friends and just chatted with several different couples who were staying there and had been there a few times prior, we all had the same opinion that this resort has gone so far down hill. The five stars they claim on their website/ the reviews they have are from a decade ago.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: not worth the price
i started looking at this hotel because i had extra credit from a canceled trip. we have travelled to a number of all inclusives in the carribean usually 4*, twice in
la romana first time in punta cana in the dr. i was looking for quality, beach and entertainment.
we stayed in the family section as opposed to club section, so had no butler. i had signed up for the fb page and had a number of questions answered. thank you
the incoming flight was uneventful and when we arrived had no tro[... read more]uble at checkin. the wrist band which looks like a wooden looney or silver dollar is your room key, which i wish every resort would do this. apparently air canada has the normal plastic wrist band not sure why.
We went to the sunwing orientation and the rep was useless he gave no info on the hotel just wanted to sell excursions. thank you facebook page.
the room for the price was ok. the tv came with no channel guide posted in the room.
there is a separate bathroom and shower rooms the two sinks are in the main room. the only 2 issues i had with the room were asked but never addressed. there was a broken switch in the bathroom and the patio door had no handle on the outside so you had to use your hand to open it from the outside?
what makes this hotel is the absolutely fantastic beach which seemingly goes on forever which it shares with other hotels along the beach so you could chose another hotel along the beach and not miss out. we went in feb and all days were windy and of the 10 days 4 days the weather was not great.
the place is large and if you have mobility issues don't stay here there are no carts driving around.
the food for the price was good and varied. not great
a lot of fruit and desserts, pasta station and meat cooking station.
my biggest issue 80% of the food is not labeled. i don't eat seafood, not allergic, and don't want to waste food by having to spit it out.
most hot food was luke warm not hot.
the service in the buffet or ala cartes was sporadic.
we ate at italian ok, gourmet ok and japanese better.
the greatest disappointment was the entertainment there were typical shows you'd see at 3 or 4 star resorts. the karoke show was in the theater and at one point someone sang a song about suicide, another was a woman and 2 little kids did a rap song with fk and btch, apparently she thought the song was supposed to be edited.
in my opinion they should change some shows to the beatles, abba, elvis.
a number of events, silent disco, foam party were never posted i just happen to be in the lobby or pool when they took place, what else did we miss.
the nightly entertainment other than the posted shows were sporadic and not every night.
we watched the first half of the superbowl in the theater and at halftime walked down to the beach because there was supposed to be a beach party. there was nothing going on at our beach but in the distance at the sister beach we could see lights on the beach, they were showing the superbowl, which we watched i thought it was another resort and not sure if we could eat or drink so we didn't. i would defiantly had watched the entire game on the beach.
i found the communication from the front desk and other staff inconsistent. mixed answers to questions and some staff were not friendly. most staff were friendly.
the flight home from sunwing left us stranded at the airport for a day and a half with little to no communication from sunwing when situations occurred and we were canceled at the last minute twice, a snow storm at home caused problems for all airlines but the sunwing people were treated with total disrespect. lack of communication was the biggest issue.
i tried to keep this short and only spoke of things i thought unique to this resort.
i'm basing my review based on the higher price and expectations. if you booked it
don't worry it is a beautiful well maintained resort.
i would not return to this hotel mostly because i thought for the price i expected better entertainment, events posted and issues resolved. for the money i would go to sandals or secrets other known high end resorts.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Nothing fancy. But clean and good service
Nice resort. Very clean. Service was very good. Everyone worked very hard and was very friendly and did their best.
The a la carts were not very organized. Didn't seem to have much management.
They super overserved our 18 year old MULTIPLE times throughout the week. NOT COOL!
The rooms need work. Our laminate floor was all warped and beat up. The dresser was missing pieces, not much clothes storage, the table in our balcony almost toppled over.
