Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Beautiful Resort!

Beautuful, clean resort. Food was as expected for Cuba, the beach is not so great. There were parts of the beach that was very rocky. Service was average, depends on who was serving you. We got the Privilege package which gives us a separate check-in that did not happened. We didn't get the room in the Privilege building, which was ok, since these rooms didn't have showers. The Privilege package, however, did give us a lobster dinner & access to the beautiful spa next to the hotel along with a  [... read more]free massage. My disappointment was with the a-la-carte restaurants. Normally, you would make reservations, however, for some silly reason, Oceans decided to do a first come first serve, which means people had to line up if they want to eat a-la-carte. We did not line up & did the Buffett all week. Overall, it was good value for the money.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: A+ Amazing Resort! Great time!

This Resort was lovely! The rooms were clean and spacious with a filled mini-bar everyday. Lots of bars (beach bar, lobby bar, pool bar, coffee bar and more!) and restaurants all around the resort (which were fabulous). The "snack" restaurant by the pool was convenient and yummy for a quick pick me up. The restaurant by the ocean was amazing! Highly recommend! The staff at this resort were friendly and hard working! They held different events every night which were nice for entertainment. Friendly shuttle bus to and from the resort with great hosts! Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Terrible

This hotel is terrible.. the food was not good at all, the beach wasn't any better. The staff didn't seem to know what they were doing! the ala cartel restaurants don't have a system yet, had to wait in line up for at least 1-1/2hr and you might not get in. i wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Very peaceful and relaxing vacation

This hotel just opened recently so has all the new fixtures. The pools are so blue like just on the pictures, place is very clean, the town market place is a 10 minute walk. overall highly recommended

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Just ... wow.

Fantastic time! Beach was gorgeous, staff was hospitable, room was amazing and the Transat excursion tours were safe and addordable ways to get out and see the rest of Cuba. Would recommend this hotel to a couples or families.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: never again

This was one the the worst resorts i have been to, the food was terrible, you can tell there was no effort into it, fruit was almost rotten! the beach was also very rocky and dirty, lots of cabanas knocked down for the amount of time this hotel has been up its already falling apart. the ala carte restaurants, you have to wait about 1hr and that doesn't guarantee you'll be eating there, they only have so much food so we were told, so you'll have to come back tm, and line up again. i wouldn' [... read more]t even go back if this was down to the lowest price. the best part of this trip was getting a tan, the entrainment was really good. this place needs more staff and smiles they all look miserable with the exception of the entrainment team. I'm also surprised transat would have anything with this resort for anytime i have flown with transat the resorts have been pretty good.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Well Worth the Money!

While this was our first time at a resort, we felt as though it was well worth the $788 that we spent for our 5 day vacation. We ran into a few bumps along the way, in the first few days; items such as water and beach towels were supposed to be in our room upon arrival, yet it took us quite some time to finally receive them. The  [... read more]food was fairly basic but still great! Although if we had stayed much longer than 5 days, we most likely would have gotten sick of the same types of food every day at the buffets. Ocean Casa del Mar is fairly new so they have a few things to improve on (ie. better maps or signs to help you figure out where to get to for activities, restaurants etc.) The front desk, room service, and customer service employees were all very polite and helpful. The pools were very clean, as well as the beaches. We were a little surprised by how narrow the sand portion of the beach was, but it was okay. Definitely recommend taking advantage of the included activities such as kayaking and catamaran sailing (bring your own snorkel gear if you want to do that for free). If you are looking for a decent hotel in Cuba, this would be it. However although it is 5 star, it does not compare to 5 stars in other countries.

Playa Vista Azul: Very nice resort

Only a few negative comments..... Lobby unimpressive(seating very uncomfortable), understaffed for services, and Wi-Fi terrible. The resort itself was very clean and lots of activities every day.Overall,we enjoyed our stay and would consider going back !

Playa Vista Azul: Nice facilities, poor customer service

Nice infinity and party pools. Two nice beaches. Not enough umbrellas. Nice spa with great massage. Rude lobby bar staff. Unattetentive and unorganized buffet wait staff. Staff are only nice to some people. Animation staff are friendly.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Nice

Think too big for me. To busy with lines especially waiting for food but very friendly staff & clean. Needed toilet paper. clean towels Tks for the complimentary bottle rum Too long bus ride fr airport for me but others may not mind!!!

Playa Vista Azul: Great resort! I would return there for sure!!!

It was a great resort! Brand new and the food was surprisenly good taking into consuderation we were in Canada. The staff's English skills are not good. Half of the staff was very friendly the other half not so much.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Beautiful resort

The Ocean Riviera Paradise is definitely a beautiful resort. We chose to stay in the Eden Swim Up Suites because the building was closest to the beach. However, the beach is the biggest turn off of this resort. The beach itself is nice, it is when you go to get in the water. The rocks are huge, sharp and chances are you will come out either with cuts, bruises or both. The food and drinks are great as are the majority of the staff. If you are a beach person, stay way and avoid the disappointment....

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Terrible resort

Food terrible and below Cuban standard. Grounds dark at night. I am recovering from 2 total knee replacements and hurt myself badly walking at night. Ground area was not lighted. Very dark and dangerous. I was not able to leave room for two full days. I am still in pain. Many complaints from others. I could go on and on. Many thefts on resort, no food or bathrooms on beach. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Ocean Casa Del Mar is a disaster. Stay away!

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Okay

Beach was narrow and rocky. Bathrooms are not near the beach. Unfortunately it was windy all week so spent a lot of time at the pool. Lots of lineups for restaurants, snack bar and buffet - areas very crammed. Food was repetitive. Staff worked very hard but understaffed.

Very nice resort. Lobby was great lots of room to sit and relax service was great. Rooms were very nice, clean , lot of room. Need to work on there grounds. New resort but too much open space , not very mature. Also the section between the rooms and the beach. Too large a space to have nothing.. Looks like a desert.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Friendly Staff

This hotel has lovely grounds, and very clean. I found the beach okay compared to Varadero. Loved Mike's cafe however I did find the food at the A La Carte's either warm or cold. Staff throughout very friendly and helpful.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: 2nd time to this resort

This was our second trip to Ocean Casa del Mar. We were there last August (2016) for two glorious weeks and this time (March (2017) for one week. The beach is amazing, but was different from the last time we were there. Food was great, always have the chefs prepare the white bass for me. This time around they only had the shrimp once at the buffet, little disappointed and not much salmon this time around. We did enjoy our very first lobster dinner. Rooms are good, they could spend a lit [... read more]tle more time cleaning as I noticed the counter in bathroom had not been really cleaned all week by the maid and think the sheets were just moved around everyday to make it look like they were changed. No issues with bugs this time around like August, there was a beautiful warm breeze the whole week. Spent sometime at the pool and never any issues finding a chair there or the beach. Entertainment was okay, we have been to Cuba 6 times in the past three years and have seen the shows. We did enjoy the Michael Jackson show last August, saw it twice in the two weeks we were there and were really disappointed that they did not do Thriiller this time for Michael Jackson. As always the Cubans are the best entertainers though compared to Dominican and Jamaica. The staff are amazing and we were treated like royalty, Magdiel in the buffet was superb and always had a table waiting for us. It was really nice that they remembered us from last year. The whole resort was open this time too and nice to see it all. The drive is not that bad, but we were delayed leaving Halifax and never got to the resort until early Saturday morning and we were suppose to be there Friday night by 11, a little disappointing.

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing resort

Awesome resort, not to big so everything was within a short walking distance. Staff very friendly and a lot spoke English, beach beautiful but a bit small but everyone got a lounger that wanted one, restaurant right at the beach overlooking ocean was a nice touch. Will be our resort of choice when we return to Cuba ❤️

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great Resort

Overall the resort was great! The one big disappointment for us was the ocean water: with rocks, seaweed and the water not being clear, we were unable to swim in the ocean. Even with water shoes there are large rocks that you're unable to see. The beach sand itself, is nice and it's wide. Normally our time at any resort is spent at the beach, this time we had to do pool side. Great selection of a la carte restaurants to choose from, no reservations required except for the the Japanese one. The entertainment staff did a great job, always lots of activities to do, if you wanted to participate. The Casino opened while we were there, it's very nice and the the Ice Cream bar was a great spot, always busy! We really enjoyed the Circus show, and another evening they had a live band playing some great older rock and roll tunes. I would only recommend this resort to people that do not enjoy the ocean.

Playa Vista Azul: Best Resort In Varadero

This hotel is amazing. It was my third time visiting, and it just continues to get better. The staff are amazing, the entertainment team are very friendly and make everyday amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, you will not be disappointed.
