Delfin Beach Resort Puerto Vallarta: Awesome location!
We upgraded to an oceanfront room... Well worth extra money. The view was great, the rooms clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We went all inclusive, and for the price it was a good deal... I will definitely be going back!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing Family Trip!
We traveled January 17-24 with extended family...a group of 14 in all. We had four rooms in all, three luxury junior suites, and because we have six in our own family, we upgraded to a family suite. The three regular rooms were all nice, but had a view of the mangrove...they were quiet though. The family section of rooms was not yet open when we were there, so we were put in a one bedroom presidential suite, which was great! It had two bathrooms, a living and dining area, and a very large separa[... read more]te bedroom. It overlooked the Diamond Club pools and had a pretty good view of the ocean as well. A definite upgrade! I don't know why the usual max occupancy for that room type is only 4, it's much bigger then the family suites...I would like to be able to book that room type in the future for our family of six instead of the the family suite.
The hotel is beautiful! There are so many pools to choose from, some heated, others not, and a huge splash area for the kids! I think all of the pools with swim up bars are heated, and in the afternoon, the kids loved going to the one in the family section to get a Shirley Temple or virgin mango daiquiri. The pools never felt crowded, and there were always fresh towels. While we were there, anyone could swim in the Diamond Club pools. Since our room overlooked them, I noticed several people with regular Royalton wrist bands swimming there. We never used them, there was no need....too many other choices. I can see how it would bother those who paid a significant amount more to have an exclusive area though.
The beach is beautiful! Wonderful sand. The water was crystal clear for four of the days, a little murky for two, and on the day we left it was pretty full of seaweed. They really do a good job of cleaning it up though. The kids went paddle boarding one day, it was easy to sign out the equipment...there were lots of other options as well. It was $3 for a wrist band that is good for the whole stay. All in all we were pretty happy, we're mostly pool people though.
The restaurants were amazing!!! So many options and all delicious. The buffet was great for breakfast, lunch and dinner....they even have a little kids area with lower counters so they can serve themselves. So many made to order stations at each meal time and great desserts...ice ream too! We loved the Tex-Mex and Italian for lunch...awesome fish tacos and pizza We also tried the Beach Grill for lunch, it was the first day they were open, so it was a little slow, but delicious burgers! The Greek restaurant and the steakhouse were good, and the show at Zen was great..food was okay. We didn't try the authentic Mexican place or just the regular sushi at Zen. All in all, the restaurants were great! We were a large group, and although we had to sit at two tables, other then at the buffet, we never had to wait longer then five minutes for a table. We did go for dinner right at six though, opening time, and we did notice as we left each night, that they were getting pretty busy.
There are cracks, missing pool tiles, and some construction going on. They are fixing it, and I must say, it never once took away from our experience. They set up little tents around the work areas, and are not too loud for the most part.
I do think the people who were here in December had a rough go of it. I was pretty nervous about our trip in mid-Jan, but it really was great! Anyone headed there now should relax and get ready to have a good time. There will always be negative people out there, but it really is a nice place, and the the staff couldn't be nicer...except for the front desk, they have some work to do.
We had a great time and are planning to come back next January, can't wait!

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Amazing Resort!
This resort is all about service. They go above and beyond from the moment you get there. Our room was nice but did not have much of a view. On day 5 they offered us a ocean front room for the remainder of our stay at no extra cost which was inceredible. We ate at all of the a la cartes and the food was really good. The alcohol is all top of the line stuff and most beer is served in the bottle. The butler service was a nice touch and the concierge is always available to assist with ANY questions[... read more]. The beach is amazing but we spent the majority of our time around the pool. Wi-Fi is strong around the entire hotel. Weather was great all week.
Highlights:
The golf course is amazing and included with your stay at the Grand. Only cost is club rental. It is also all-inclusive on the course which was great.
The spa pool is amazing and there is also a great fitness centre and decongestant steam room which was really nice.
A big thanks to all the staff including Fanni and Charley who I enjoyed talking with. The ENTERTAINMENT staff do a amazing job all day trying to keep everyone involved in the activities. If you are asked to fill out a review card make sure you give these guys the best score as possible as they deserve it.

Grand Oasis Sens: 3.5* not a 4.5/5
I just came back from the Oasis Sens a week ago. I've been to Cancun many times and I do have to say, compare to the other resorts, this is definitely my least favorite. Room was ok, clean but dark...they should have a lamp beside your bed. We did not have a safe in our room, we did ask for one but never got one. The food... breakfast buffet is good, no buffet for lunch. They really should have one because, huge line ups to the sushi bar, hamburger/hot dog place, italian, mexican and chicken res[... read more]to. If your not in line by 12:00 noon, then good luck. For breakfast make sure you do try the Benazuza (reservations needed), it was excellent and the two waiters we had Alfonso and the other one were excellent. As for dinner, buffet, Italian, Mexican are ok. Japanese was really not good. Instead of serving us whatever they served us, they should do stir fry. Then we tried the Black Hole. You have to try it for the experience but the food was not the best. They have a coffee shop, don't know why they don't open it at 7:00 am instead of 9:00 am
Hotel and pools are clean. Just beware at night if you walk around the pool because there is two pathway which are not lite.. yes there is yellow cones to make you aware but they should have a railing or something because we saw somebody fall and he could have gotten really hurt.
Would I return, not sure.. maybe if the price was right.

Hard Rock Hotel Cancun: About this resort.
Excellent service, restaurants, amenities, rooms overall a great resort. Not a great place for seniors who would like some peace at night as it can be quite noisy. We did enjoy our stay. Christian at the front desk was very helpful when we first registered.went beyond the call of duty. Give him a raise.
The facilities are superior, the food excellent with one minor exception. The staff pleasant throughout our time at the hotel. We really enjoyed our one week stay and will return sometime in the future.

Riu Vallarta: Great Time
Check in was a breeze. We were in our rooms with luggage, interrupted by a trip to the lounge bar, all in 15 minutes while never having to go to the front desk.
The jr suite was spacious and well appointed.,Ocean view 8th floor with great sight lines. Had a true king size bed (not mattresses pushed together).
Resturants and buffets were excellent.

Staff and pool areas very nice...
Make sure you check your safe is working as a couple in our group had their safe comprimised and someone from the hotel staff stole all their money the second day we were there.
Hotel management tried their best to make our holiday as good as could be under the circumstances while having no help from Sun Wing staff at the hotel the tour operator.
Hotel Management actions will certainly gave us a reason that we may consider on returning for future holidays with the Riu hotel chain..

Crown Paradise Club Cancun: Great resort for kids!!
This resort is amazing for small kids, the kids club has activities planned for them every hour on the hour. There are 4 pools, one is covered and heated so if you have a baby then it is perfect for them. They also have a baby club from 18 mths to 3.5 years old. Food is good, you can always find something to eat. The burgers at the snack bar are great and they have a Japanese restaurant open from 12 to 4pm everyday that has fresh sushi and Japanese food. Only a 15 min drive from the airport is a[... read more] huge bonus as well when travelling with small kids. We had a room that looked onto the abandoned resort next door. Not the prettiest thing to look at but certainly did not affect our trip. Every room in the resort has ocean view. The Plus rooms have bunk beds for the kids.
The staff are always cleaning and making sure the cups, plates etc are cleaned up around the pool area. Service in the restaurants are excellent. Even though this resort is all inclusive we tip the servers. These people work hard and deserve the tips.
The only cons to this resort is that the main pool is a bit chilly and the bars do not open until 10:00am.
We will be heading back next year.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Super Clean Fantastic Staff
Overall the resort, staff and food were fantastic. The entire trip went well from the flights, transportation, check in and check out. It was well organized and no confusion. Everyone knew we were coming and were very attentive. The only negative is the beach and water. The reef has been destroyed, the water is rough and the sewage smells make swimming unappealing. This leaves the pool scene for getting your water fix. They do have plenty of pools with lots of activities. The drinking is control[... read more]led by diluting the booze so you won't see many drunk individuals. That might be a good thing. We felt safe while on the resort. There are many excursions but the costs are high which increases the cost of the vacation. The area has lots of history and the actual town of Tulum is a very good place to spend a day shopping and eating. I am glad we saw the ruins but disappointed in the beach and the booze.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: great resort, great service
Resort was fantastic, lots of seaweed on the beach but still beautiful, would definitely recommend the swim out room, worth the extra charge, restaurants fantastic, resort staff were friendly and helpful, always making sure we had everything we needed. Would go back!
I have been to Dominican twice, Cuba 3 times, Cancun and Jamaica once each. Valentin Imperial Maya had the best rooms by far. We have been to some nice resorts but this one was the best for the accomodations .Perfect for honeymooners or to rekindle.I'm used to the humid moldy smell but this resort had none of that. It was amazing. Food was outstanding. We didn't even go to the buffet once for dinner. Our favorite was the French restaurant, but the Italian and Japanese - hibachi were also great. [... read more]Service was very good. The only negatives were poor WiFi connection, made it difficult to face time the kids, but not the end of the world. Very windy...it was red flag most of the week so we didn't get to enjoy the beach and swim in the ocean. Not the resort's fault but still a bummer. The pools were awesome. We were in complex 7 with the private pool (Golden Junior Suites). You can order food right by the pool. It's a limited menu but it was delicious and the presentation was very impressive. It was so peaceful, quiet, it was just awesome. Looking for a party, the main pool was so big that you could always find a spot that had more action. Drinks were all good, premium liquor available. We will go back someday fornsure,. Soon I hope :) if you scuba dive, you have to go to Cozumel for a day. We rented a jeep and stopped at Palancar. Best scuba diving ever. Stop by Coconuts bar and grill, food is just not, but it's an experience.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: beautiful resort
My husband and I spent a wonderful 10 days in the Hilton Puerto Vallarta. Walking in to the lobby and seeing the ocean and gardens as we were checking in was exciting as we had come from "cold, rainy Canada" that morning. The infinity pools and the area around them were most inviting and we spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying them. The food in the buffet area was attractively presented and we enjoyed many meals there. The staff were very hospitable and helpful at all times.
We enjoyed our s[... read more]pacious room and view.
We were pleased to see that an effort was made to recycle plastics. That was new since our last visit.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Great family vacation
We had a great vacation and enjoyed the resort. We travelled with our 1.5 year old son, and while the resort is not geared directly at families, it was family friendly enough to make us comfortable, and there were lots of families with kids there. There were high chairs at all restaurants, and a small children’s wading pool that the kids loved to splash in. A few odds and ends of toys were around the pool, of varying quality and availability. A kids menu was on offer at all restaurants, althou[... read more]gh you often had to know to ask for the selections - usually pasta with butter or tomato sauce, chicken nuggets, burger, cheese pizza, or cheese quesadilla. My son also loved the balloon animals that the servers at the poolside restaurant Castaways would make for him at lunch time. He was too young for the kids club, which is for 3 and over, but the kids looked like they were having fun on the trampoline each day.
Service was universally good throughout the resort. Wait staff were excellent, quick service for both drinks on the beach and in restaurants, housekeeping was very good and accommodating to our napping toddler’s schedule, check-in and front desk service also very quick and helpful. We particularly enjoyed not having to deal with towel cards or restaurant reservations - and because we were usually dining early at 5:30 or 6, we never had to wait for a table. We also enjoyed the free wifi.
We did end up upgrading to the Preferred building after our first night. The regular rooms are lovely for couples, but have an odd sunken living room with two steps and no railing. After watching our son climb up and down with terror and fall several times on the marble floor, we decided to upgrade to a preferred room which had a flat layout and also a door separating the bedroom and living area. The upgrade to a tropical view room on the second floor was $40 a night, which we felt was worth it (oceanview would have been $60). These rooms are close to the adults only pool, and a little further from the family pool and main beach area, but the resort is well laid out and from end to end only about a 5 minute walk, so not a big deal. We enjoyed access to the Preferred Lounge as well, to get snacks throughout the day, coffee, milk for my son, and my husband enjoyed the self-serve top shelf liquors. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi on the balcony - went in with our swimsuits on as there is not a lot of privacy, but it was a nice way to end the day. Floors were very slippery, and we had to be quite careful, particularly after coming out of the shower and around the pool deck.
Food was quite good throughout the resort. Breakfast buffet excellent, lunch service by the pool was good (loved the fish tacos, and the fresh chips and guacamole) and dinner at the Italian, French and Mexican was good. Even the buffet at dinner was surprisingly good, and I am not usually a buffet person. We liked being able to get snacks and coffee at the coffee shop throughout the day, and room service was decent, although not speedy.
Before arriving, I was most concerned about the beach, because we love to swim in the ocean and I had read some negative reviews. However, the beach was great! Yes, there are some areas with rocks, but there are also long stretches of white sand that are easy to walk in. And there is a bit of coral off the shore so you can do a bit of snorkeling which is fun - we also took the snorkeling tour, which picks you up off the beach and takes you by boat 15 min to a national marine park where there is an amazing reef for snorkeling (an hour for $50 per person). And yes, we did experience the huge seaweed accumulation on the beach, but, this is the ocean! There is seaweed. And sometimes, based on weather conditions, this seaweed washes up on shore. The staff worked hard to clear it and within three days, the beautiful white sand beach was back. We sat on the beach every day, and did have to snatch up chairs at breakfast time because there were a lot of people reserving them, but we also saw staff bringing down more chairs to the beach on request.
Overall, we had a fabulous time on our vacation and were sorry to have to go home at the end of the week. We have travelled to several other resorts in the Mayan Riviera, and the Now Jade compared well to any of them. I would recommend it without hesitation if you are looking for a good resort experience for a good value.
