Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Awesome resort

Rooms awesome, food great, pools amazing, view amazing. We were a group and had great time in the resortz. Loved the disco, Food, Room cleanliness, Public areas cleanliness, Beds, bathrooms. We would highly recommend this

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Something for everyone!

Visited Feb 3-10 with family of 4 - with 17 and 19 year olds. Large resort but well laid out (5 resorts in total). Close to beach/pool and restaurants. Pools were nice with swim up bars and fountains. Beach was beautiful with snorkelling available - 1 hour free. Saw many fish and turtles. Many other water sports available as well. Grounds were beautiful and very clean resorts. Buffet restaurants were good - lots of selection. You had a choice of going to 3 a la cartes - they were pretty go [... read more]od - disappointed in the Japanese because we did not get to sit at the chef table. Service was very good all around - the pool bars were a bit slow. They had activities every day if you wanted to join in - aqua fitness, volley ball, water polo, tequila tasting, zumba dancing. Front desk was good - easy to check in and very accommodating. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was a resort mall in between the resorts but it was pricey. There was a bowling alley, arcade room, merry go round carousel and skating pad - all fee for service which was disappointing. There were many water parks for kids which were amazing as well as an 18 hole mini putt course. This location was about an hour from the airport and the transportation took a bit long to organize from the airport. Going back to the airport was no issue. All in all - a very nice spot, beautiful beach, good food and good service. The only regret was wifi was only available at certain times and in 2 locations - either the mall or one of the lobby bars and reception was not that great. Of course you could pay a fee and then I'm sure reception was just fine. But it is vacation time but sometimes business needs to be attended to. I would recommend this to others.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Perfect holiday

The Barcelo is a perfect holiday from start to finish!!! From the grounds to the room to the food to the activities to the nightlife!!! The beach is beautiful soft sand and turquoise water! All of the staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and valued!

The hotel over all was good. Booking as a group was not good. We were the only ones in our group of 19 that was not in the same hotel as everone else. They were not accommodating when asked to be moved.

Barcelo Solymar: Barcelo Solymar

We (my daughter & I) had read some bad reviews but our experience was much different. Our room 1452 was on the top floor with beautiful views of the pool &ocean water .The Beds were ok pillows were awesome . Our room was Cleaned everyday and had fresh towels too. Our housekeeper Tania made sure our stay was fantastic, extra water and towels and even little notes " Have a great day" The pools were cleaned everyday, lots of chairs at the beautiful beach. The food at our buffet was actually  [... read more]really good. Roasted chicken and potatoes were my staple but there was a variety of seafood available too. Bread ,butter ,sauces all abundant. It was quiet after the dinner hour but close to the main strip for nightlife. We felt very safe walking the streets and were not harrassed by anyone. Needs improvement- no beach bar - minor repairs needed throughout the resort.

Barcelo Solymar: Good resort

Overall the resort is good, the location is excellent - centrally located within walking distance to Varadero downtown and markets. Most of the resort staff were good, courteous and friendly. The buffet food selection was also good - I especially liked the Cuban foods selection and enjoyed the local Cuban food together with international (western) food selection. The beach is excellent and so is the ki [... read more]ds supervised activity/play center - this gave us (parents) a much needed 2 hours alone time away from the kids to just sit and relax on the beach. The resort could do a little bit better on the room amenities. In our room the shower had only half side door and as a result the bathroom floor would have lot of water after a shower and slippery (have to be careful especially with kids). The resort could fix these small things. Plus I saw in some people's room the ceiling was leaking water (probably from the aircon). These are not a big negative - just minor things the resort could improve upon. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this resort to my friends and would stay here again.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: 9 Days of sun

WE been to the barcelo maya 6 times over the last 23 years .We always have a good time ,the beach are great ,pools are fun.They have added more things to do like water park ,10 pin bowling.But i will say i was disappointed at the prices they charged.15 dollars for one game of bowling come on.this is the first time i can say a lot of food was not hot.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Not Suitable for All

This resort is suitable to families and young adults. It is not suitable for those who want a quiet holiday. The pools were full of kids and the beach full of loud drinkers. We were awaken almost every night when the discotheque closed at 2am with loud ruckus. This is a huge resort with lots of amenities. Excellent fitness centre with a huge variety of exercise equipment and fitness classes (yoga, zumba, spinning). The staff were friendly and helpful. The manager was not! Occidental Tucancun: Good time !

Awesome beach! Good food! Amazing staff! So much to do in the area. The sunset is amazing to watch. The Mexican restaurant was delicious. There is lots of activities during the day, night life only has bars.

Barcelo Solymar: Great depending on your expectations

Resort was well kept. Staff were friendly. Our room was run down but kept clean. Ceilings were leaking from the AC units. Beaches were beautiful. The food is what you would expect in Cuba. Would go back if the price was right. Nothing I wasn't expecting.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Amazing resort!

The resort complex and all its amenities were excellent. Family friendly. Food at the buffets was good and with lots of variety. The special dining restaurants were easy to get into and the food/service at them great. The resort was spotless. Attention to detail on the grounds and overall cleanliness of all areas was amazing. Staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. Pools and beaches excellent. A great resort that we look forward to visiting again.

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Wasn't happy.

Amazing beach, understaffed, small rooms, public bathrooms extremely small stalls, beach & poolside activities fairly good.Juan was awesome for activities.had to pay for wifi. Asked to speak to the manager & was given excuse after excuse why I couldn't. Would not recommend or return to this hotel.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great resort

This was our 5th time here to this specific resort. We are always pleased with everything as there is something for everyone. We stay in the junior suites usually building 2 or 3 which we like as they are close to everything. The rooms are clean always fresh towels hot water and stocked fridge. The food at the buffet gets a bit repetative but we enjoyed the a la carts much better. This is definitely a go to resort for us!

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Amazing family resort!

The Barcelo was an excellent family resort!! Our kids had a blast in the water parks and at the kids club- this was the first resort we’ve gone to, where parents were able to relax too! The food was excellent, and the resort was very clean. I would highly recommend this resort to any families looking for an amazing vacation!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great time

The hotel grounds were beautifully kept. Beaches were wonderful, the Beach Activity service was great it was wonderful dealing with Gabriella The food was good lots of variety. The Santa Fe restaurant steakhouse was not up to Snuff The people at the front desk were excellent. Can't say as much for the concierges and head of house keeping that looked after our section it only took us five days to get an iron in our room. Occidental Costa Cancun: Nice 4-star family oriented resort

The resort was nice - very clean, and the grounds were lovely. The staff were always friendly, and the buffet food was good with fresh salads, fruit, breads and various meat dishes served daily. I would have liked more Mexican food at the buffet, such as - nachos, salsa and guacamole, but I only had that once in the Mexican restaurant. The swimming area was okay, but it was located right next to where all the large tourist boats were coming and going, and that combined with the noise/smell of seadoos and other watercraft made it a bit too busy for us. We would have preferred a quieter beach. We enjoyed the shows they put on every night from 9-10 p.m., and also the piano entertainment in the hotel lobby. I've always loved the frozen margaritas in Mexico, but this time it was hit 'n miss - the best ones I had were at the beach bar and seafood restaurant. I gave up after a few bad drinks and just had the white wine which was pretty good. All-in-all, we enjoyed our stay, but will not return to this particular hotel because the beach area was too noisy.

Occidental Papagayo: resort ok, Costa Rica beautiful weather, Sky zip lining awesome

-grounds well kept -not a nice beach -not enough help in the restaurants with minimal food options (very little variety) -disappointed with room accommodations, booked in September for a late Jan visit, asked for 2 beds in the room, showed up there with a king size bed (only 10 rooms at this resort have 2 beds/room however this was never shared with our group) -ended up having to sleep on a cot for the week, not impressed should have a smoking section at the 2 pool areas (at the back away f [... read more]rom the non-smoking guests) I would not go back to this resort, I would not recommend others to go

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Nice resort

Very good resort. We liked the most walking on the long beach as well as within the resort. We stayed at the Maya Caribie. It is good but i wouldnt rate it as a 5 star. It is no more than a 4 star. it seemed to be an older resort. The bathroom was partially renovated which was nice. However, every thing else was ready to be updated to deserve a 5 star rating. It woulve been nice if: 1. The air condition can be adjusted from the room. The thermostat seemed not to work no matter on what degree [... read more] of temperature you would put it on, it would give a temperature that I would estimate to be 21-22C. That was a little chilli for us. So we opened the balcony door. We woke up with mesquitos bitting us in the middle of the night. Llet alone the noise coming from people retuning from the bars. It turned out the screen on the door was torn letting mesquitos in. 2. There were lots of food everywhere. Most of the people on the resort were from Canada and the USA. However, they didnt pay attention to the fact that Canada is multicultural and that there would be those who do not eat pork (example: Jews and muslims). Most of the meat dishes were pork or contained pork (e.g. beef and pork, chicken and and pork fahitas). There were some beef burgers and chicken at the snack bars. However the 4 coupons they gave us for the ala cart resturants were very good for dinner. 3. Sunwing airlines is terrible. I will never use them again.

Palma Real: 4th time to that resort no problems

I havent anything bad to say. Everything was OK to Great for me . The grounds were well kept The pools were clean. The beach is great . Didnt have to wait at the bars for drinks. I found all the staff at the resort friendly .

Palma Real: amazing

Perfect for us. Great location , staff is helpful. Food is great - we recommend this hotel to others - this is our second time at this hotel - the best building is number 3 - it is close to the pools - buffet ' main lobby
