Occidental Costa Cancun: Stay at Occidental Costa Cancun
Just stayed at the Occidental Costa Cancun, and had a good time. It’s a very small resort, the rooms, pool, restaurants, and beach are all in a small area. The pool was nice, lots of chairs available. The food was so-so, nothing special there. You could only make reservations for a la carts in the mornings, getting into the Italian was a pain, with a huge line-up at 7am to get in for dinner. The beach was nice, if small, with lots of water traffic in front of the resort and a small area where [... read more]swimming was allowed. No snorkelling at the resort. The ferry over to Isla Mujeres was right at the resort, as well as the Jolly Roger pirate ship excursion which was convenient. Lots of seaweed on the beach, even though they rake it every morning there was always seaweed at the water line. No free wifi, you have to pay to use it and it’s not good at all, always cutting in and out and the prices for everything seem to change day to day. The rooms were okay, clean but nothing special. The air conditioning in my room was turned off when I got there, didn’t have it for a few days until I called. When they actually turned it on it was leaking but worked. Daily shows by the pool and always entertainment at night. Wouldn’t go back but didn’t have a horrible time. Still enjoyed the sunshine and relaxation at the beach or pool.

NYX Hotel Cancun: Quiet place, great food and good value in Cancun.
We went to NYX Cancun in February 2018 for our honeymoon.
It is a short ride from the airport. Around 25 minutes depending on the stops.
Beach/Pools:
The beach was amazing. Not too many vendors. Beautiful white beach sand.
There were red flags, but with a life guard on duty we swam in the ocean anyway.
2 mid-sized pools, and a small children's pool. The main pool was nice, but you get crowded out during some of the daily activities. The quiet pool gets very little sun.
One main Ja[... read more]cuzzi with two runoff tubs. Wasn't too hot though, and sometimes you would have to wait for an employee to turn the jets on.
*If you are staying in Tower 1, like we were, you have to go through the hotel lobby in order to make it to pools or the beach.
Service:
The bartender we had the first few days was not very responsive.
We had trouble getting a hold of the front desk with the room phoneline.
Most of the waiters were friendly.
Food:
The food was excellent.
Breakfast Buffet in the main building every morning.
Lunch was from a set menu with a daily special.
You had to be dressed with more than a swimsuit to eat in the restaurant.
But you could order food delivered to the beach.
Supper was at the same beach restaurant, with a set menu accompanied by a buffet.
Groups of 3 or more might have a long wait to get a table.
Food is only available during set hours.
Also a onsite gourmet restaurant, that was incredible. But you have to reserve, meet a dress-code, and can only go once a week.
Rooms:
We had a huge room on the 5th floor.
We had a master suite with a small balcony.
A king-sized bed.
Nice and clean and newly renovated.
A bit dusty due to the renovations.
*There was no working elevator (under construction) in tower 1 and being on the 5th floor, that was quite a trek up!
The shower was humongous.
But the street noise was very loud, earplugs are recommended if you are in tower 1.
Value:
Good value for the price.
We had a couples massage at the onsite spa. It was very enjoyable.
Other than a small band in the lobby on Thurs-Sun there is no nightly entertainment.
Location:
Centered on the hotel zone strip.
Right next to the Flamingo Mall.
An hour and a half from most excursions.
Short ride to the airport.

Temptation Resort & Spa: Let’s Play!
Amazing resort! Top notch service by all staff. The Play Makers entertainment staff kept things hoping at the sexy pool while the bartenders kept the drinks flowing. Nightly entertainment was never to be missed. Every night was a different theme be it Heaven and Hell, Bedtime Bash or White Night. Definitely erotic! Resort beach and sexy pool are topless optional. Age of guests range from 30s to 60s with all shapes and sizes. Beach is small but lots of umbrellas and chairs so finding a sp[... read more]ot was never a problem. There is also a quiet pool as well although from what we saw no one used it. Food at every restaurant was great although we rated Flame (steak) as our least favourite. Breakfast at Sea Flirt overlooking the quiet beach was the best! So let your hair down, check your inhibitions at the door and enjoy your stay at this awesome resort!

Finest Playa Mujeres by Excellence Group: Fantastic Resort
The staff at this resort bends over backwards to make the visitor happy. By far the cleanest place you'll ever stay.
The food was delicious, the drinks superb, and the service just fantastic.
Our only complaint was the floor in the shower. It was extremely slippery when wet. But neither of us fell so, yippee.

Grand Oasis Sens: Nice Place...but will not revisit
I was travelling with 3 of my friends on Jan. 31 (for an 8 days stay).
The hotel is very close to the airport, the transport was quick. Some travellers found out upon arrival that no rooms were available. We needed to tip at the fromt desk to get a better room.
The rooms were fine, no issues. The bed not too comfortable but did the job. The TV was damaged so the screen had bad quality.
Impossible to get any botteled water anywhere in the hotel except what was in the room fridge...
Since we [... read more]didn’t have the upgrade for Sian Ka’an, we only had access to 1 bar that was closing at 10 pm. The Kinky disco was then becoming available that was really so so.
The service at the bar (lobby or the beach), was VERY slow!! Only one barman, David, was great but we gave him tips of around 10$US/day.
The restaurants can be reserved only 24-48 hrs before and the line ups were horrible. The buffet was mediocre, the time to get an omelet in the morning was 40 min. Very frustrating. On two occasions, while in a restaurant, we just left without receiving our meal since it took 1 hour to get it...and still, it didn’t arrive.
Although it is mentionned not to leave the towels on the chairs, travellers do it anyway. Therefore, there is almost never any seats available around the pool.
The music is nice during the day, entertainment, although short, was fun as well, as was the foam pool party.
The bracelet given upon arrival is also the key to the room. That is a nice upgrade so there is no worry about loosing the room card.
What made a difference was the beautiful weather and the great people we met.
Over all, I give this resort a 6 out of 10.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Great resort
The hotel itself was fabulous. Our ocean view room in villa 3 was fantastic. Hot water was the only issue we had which was sometimes hard to get. Food was amazing we ate at the steakhouse for dinner every night. We really like the food court and had the tacos and happy chicken often for lunch. Drinks were good and was never an issue getting a beach lounge chair. Ocean was wavy but nice and blue and clear with white sand beaches.

Great resort, excellent service and the food was out of this world. I would highly recommend, but you need to book the Shan kaan package. You get royal treatment. It might be an older resort, but they are constantly upgrading and very clean.

Crown Paradise Club Cancun: Great Spot
Overall we were happy with this hotel...the food quality, quick room service, helpful staff, condition of the rooms, fantastic beach view from the room, the beach itself, kids club, proximity to the airport, etc. We had a fabulous time!
There were just two disappointments cold pools & music quality. I am mentioning these two things to be constructive to the hotel, I know it's tough to please everyone.
1) All pools were very cold, indoor & out. Ourselves & the kids (aged 8 & 9) had trouble[... read more] enjoying the water, and they aren't kids that are tough to please. I'm not sure if they have the ability to heat them, the air temperature was around 26C.
2) The music playlist at the pool was not enjoyable. They seemed to have an hourly rotation in between the pool games. 50's, 60's, 80's, and hard rock. I spoke to the "DJ" and they weren't able to change it. It would have been nice to hear some Latin music or at least some more current pop music. Also, there is no music at the lobby bar. There was a duo singing for a little while, but nothing after they left. We were happy to see that the lobby was able to integrate the kids area with the adults, but the lack of music was disappointing.
Again, we did have a great time and would recommend this hotel.

Occidental Tucancun: Great Place, Fantastic Staff!
From check in to getting introduced to the resort then having freedom to be as slow or busy as we wanted, it was great. The lobby bar in the evening was manned by Alex Palma, a very happy and efficient bartender who strives to make folks happy and relaxed. The restaurants food selection was great, my wife thoroughly enjoyed the Italian restaurant with its made on the spot pasta selections.
Wait staff: Erick Xeque and Eulalia Torres were outstanding amongst a top notch crew of wait staff in all[... read more] venues. Everybody did their utmost to ensure you were looked after. The hardest folks to name are the maids. You never really get to meet them but they do great work and deserve many thanks for making our sanctuary clean and comfortable. This is an annual trek to the Caribbean for us and the first time here, we will be back.

Sunscape Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing Family Resort
This was our very first time at an all-inclusive resort. I spent 3 months on Tripcentral, daily looking at hotels and prices in Cancun and this hotel ended up being the one of choice. I went with my wife and 2 year old daughter and was with Sunwing. Right from the very start, Tripcentral emailed me to outline the details, provide information and our booking confirmation.
When getting to the Cancun airport, I met with the Sunwing rep and was taken to the hotel, no problems or confusion as t[... read more]o what I was supposed to do. Everyone at the hotel was incredibly friendly and treated all of us like royalty. They make a genuine effort to talk to you and ask you if there is anything they can do to assist. You are always greeted with a smile as well. I found their capacity to work very hard while being really happy not only comforting, but also inspiring. The resort was recently updated and I believe ownership changed hands, as it was called Rio Gran Caribe, but now Panama Jack Gran Caribe. The rooms were big and very clean (my wife is Japanese and is very picky about this and she was blown away). We had a partial view of the ocean. The pools were very clean, the beach was beautiful, the food was excellent. They have 2 different buffets, with the food being excellent, but if that doesn't float your boat, you can go in the A la carte restaurants instead. They do not require much in the way of a dress code, just don't wear swimsuits and make sure to wear shirts with sleeves and you are okay.
***If you go to their Mexican restaurant, Casa De Rosa, make sure to order the Mayan coffee!!! It is the most amazing "show" I have ever seen. The server heats up the cups, transfers the alcohol, pours it through a peeled grapefruit, adds coffee. It is hard to explain but was very neat*** No tip is required but the amount of work that he does, I had no problem giving 50 pesos, well worth it.
There are different shows every night, Mariachi bands, opera singers, dancers, etc. I was there during the Superbowl and they had huge screens outside near the pool and had surround sound speakers going, it was great. I have to give a special appreciation to Max at Deck 74 for remembering my daughters name and asking how she was doing each time we went there. He was great, as were all the staff. This hotel is in the perfect area of the hotel zone, but along the entire zone, if the beach faces East, it will be a little wavy. 95% of hotels have beaches facing east. We just hopped on a local bus for 12 pesos per person and spent 5 minutes riding up the the top part of the hotel zone and went to a calm, more local, kid friendly beach with no waves so this was never an issue.
My first time in Cancun was amazing and we will definitely be back at some point. When we do, we will come back to this place. It was amazing.

Isla Mujeres Palace: Small Resort with a BIG Heart
We just returned from a week at Isla Mujeres Palace resort. What a Great small resort!
Our stay began with a catamaran ride over to the island. Once we arrived at the resort, we were greeted with a tropical drink, a flower and a cold towel by the front desk staff. They were very friendly and got us checked in very quickly.
We were taken up to our room which was very clean and comfortable. Every detail and amenity has been thought out, from the OPI toiletries to the bar stocked with ful[... read more]l sized bottles. If you need anything at all (like another bottle of wine) it is just a phone call away.
We took advantage of room service every morning, ordering a pot of coffee, which we found was a great way to start our day while getting ready to go down for breakfast.
There is one restaurant on site as well as a snack bar.
We had breakfast and dinner at Azul, the main restaurant. Breakfast was either buffet or you could order from the menu. Dinner was menu with Daily Specials. We never had a bad meal. Flavours were amazing and portions were perfect. The wait staff were extremely helpful and very attentive to our needs. Lunch was served poolside at the Ceviche snack bar. Our favourites were the boneless chicken wings and the pizzas made in the wood-fired pizza oven. The quality of the food as well as the caring staff made this and outstanding experience.
We took advantage of our resort credits to do the Chef’s Dinner, the Romantic dinner on the beach and a couples massage. The Chef’s Dinner was the BEST! We were served items that I would never have tried, but they were outstanding for presentation and flavours! Professionally presented, masterly designed, this is a must do!!!The romantic dinner on the beach was great! They served surf and turf with appetizers, salad and dessert, all within a beach-side romantic setting. A great experience!
The one thing that we adored most about this resort was the intimate feel. With it being only 62 rooms, it is much quieter than the larger resorts. You get to meet the other guests, and they and the staff quickly become your friends. As you walk through the resort, the views are outstanding. The halls have wide spaces facing the ocean, with many areas to sit and relax. The overall feeling of tranquility and beauty assist with relaxation and enjoyment.
The one downfall has nothing to do with the resort, but their neighbours. This resort is between two properties that bring day visitors by the multiple boatload to party, eat and drink. Although unfinished, the property to the north looks to be developing a waterpark which we fear this will bring additional noise and chaos to the Palace Resort. The properties are very close together and we worry about the loss of those features that the Palace staff work so hard to achieve.
Overall we would highly recommend this small, intimate resort to any couple looking for a quiet, romantic getaway. You will be treated very well, enjoy wonderful meals, meet fantastic people and actually have the time to finally enjoy that good book you have been waiting to enjoy for so long.

Moon Palace The Grand Cancun: Best resort for parents and kids!
Everything at the Grand was top notch!! Best place we’ve been, and probably the only place we’ll go to again. Never ending activities-day and night, great Service everywhere and Fantastic food at all the a la carte’s, and the rooms were amazing!! Grand Oasis Cancun: 'The Entertainment Resort'
Very large, spread out hotel. A lot of walking. Not many public washrooms and bars are also very spread out...not everyone wants to hop in the pool to get a drink all t he time. I would suggest upgrading to the 'black band' as many nice restaurants not accessible with the blue band. Neither are premium drinks which was a dissappointment. The rooms are clean but the hotel infrastructure (our room was close to the beach) is not and many items need updating like bath tubs, fawcetts, etc. The l[... read more]obby is beautiful. Food isn't terrible but it's not a 5-star menu. Our teens loved it...we felt old (in our late 40's).

Oleo Cancun Playa: Friendliest resort!
The Oleo Cancun Playais a smaller almost boutique hotel. They are building a new lobby but the construction was noise was minimal at best. The room was exactly as depicted on their website. It was stylish, clean and spacious. Your resort bracelet is your room key. No need to worry about cards. A/C stays on in your room all day if wanted and no towel card required. There are currently 2 a la carte restaurants, and one buffet. Although the selection isn't large at the buffet, we always found somet[... read more]hing tasty to eat. We only ate at the AlMar a la carte. It was unlimited, meaning you could opt to eat there every night. No restrictions to 3 a la cartes and wearing long pants for men was optional and no reservations required. The spa and gym are small but well appointed. On the beach there are tent like structures for shade and waiter service which not only brought you drinks, but would provide you with food as well. The staff are the friendliest I have found in all my 24 yrs. of visiting Cancun. If you don't see what you need, just ask. They will only be too happy to provide you with what you need. There was nightly entertainment. It was mostly restricted to the lobby area except for the outdoor circus night. They had a live band by the pool on Sunday. I'm sure once the new lobby area opens, there will be a better space to enjoy the entertainment. All in all, I really enjoyed my time at the Oleo. I would definately return and/or recommend this resort to others.
