Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Dissapointed
Musty rooms empty pool and jacuzzi. Riped off by wifi card salesperson.. Barely any entertainment on rainy days. Filthy smelly blankets, bed spreads and pillows. Dusty surfaces. Spilled food and broken dishes left on steps and hallways for over 24 hrs.i do not recommend this hotel.

Hotel lobby was very nice, rooms were clean and maid service was great! However it did smell alittle moldly. Food was okay, nothing special... been to Cuba before and have had better quality. Only one pool open due too damage...Nightly entertainment was enjoyable! We closed down the disco a few nights, meet some great people! Beach was breathtaking!!! Staff were all very friendly and welcoming!!

Grand Memories Varadero: Great Resort All Around!
This was my first all inclusive vacation as well as my first trip to Cuba and Grand Memories made a lasting impression! The resort is not new but I still found everything to be well kept across the resort. My room was clean and everything was in good working conditon. No bugs of any kind seen through my 7 day stay in my room. It was well cleaned daily and the maid was very nice. The resort is quite large with 2 massive pools both equipped with swim up bars. The friendly staff at either swimup ba[... read more]r was the best part of the trip, I always felt taken care of. The beach was nice with soft sands and a nice view. One thing many people did warn me about before visiting Cuba was the food but I found the food at Grand Memories to be excellent and the buffet was so large it was easy to find something new to try everyday. Lastly, if your a solo traveller like I was Grand Memories didn't charge a supplementary fee for single person booking like many other resorts would have which made it ideal for someone with a budget! Overall I made alot of friends and really enjoyed my stay. Highly recommend! Cheers

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Sun, Beach, Food, Drinks & Amazing Staff & Resort
This was our 6th visit to the Grand Memories Sanctuary adults only resort, Varadero Cuba....When we think our experience at the hotel can’t get better it does.....
We can't say enough about this resort, the staff are amazing along with the Director Luz Hernández and Gustavo Dominguez.
From the time we arrived we are greeted by our fav shuttle drivers Hanoy and Tony....big smiles. Hanoy was always there asking if we need anything....
The Sancutary restaurant staff with Manager Gustav[... read more]o, hostess Yurilays, servers Yessica and Natali you received warm greetings and outstanding service every morning for breakfast. We ordered poached eggs and omelette with double order of bacon every morning and chose smaller items from the vast arrangement of cheese,, fruits, cold cuts and sweets while waiting for our eggs. As soon as we walked in, they had our cappuccinos with Baileys and mimosas waiting for us....nice touch they knew what we enjoyed for breakfast - hey it’s 5:00 pm somewhere right!
Their new Chef Vincenzo from Italy has amazing meals prepared at dinner time...Chef Vincenzo has made a difference in the quality of the meals and taste....he is an asset to the Sancutary restuarant staff!
We are beach people so it was enjoyable to have Alex on the beach serving your favourite drinks and Cervaza ...
Beach has clean, white sand and easy to walk into the ocean....very short walk from our room to the beach...
Hoping the new beach bar is open now and is closer to washrooms ....
After the beach we sornt an hour at the pool and had fried calamari or fries or hamburgers....all are great but the service is slower so just sit back and enjoy the pool and they will bring your order to you....the staff at the pool snack bar are a happy bunch.
Our room was so clean thanks to our maid Jenny, she is a gem. Always smiling with big hugs. We ask for Jenny on all our trips. There has been no issues with our room, it is spotless ...
Only suggestion would be to bring your own facecloths which are not always provided.
The bathtub takes forever to fill so would avoid and use ithe shower.
Our fav restuarant on the Grand Memories side is the Gourmet and true to its name. I would suggest the tender steak, it was mouthwatering...
The Asian restaurant is another place that has good food.
As others have mentioned in their reviews, we would have to agree, avoid the Italian restuarant on the Grand Memories side. We gave this restuarant three tries on our various visits to the resort and it never was a good food experience. I’m so sorry to say the food is terrible.
We would like to acknowledge the outstanding service we received from the Sancutary staff:-
Jenny /maid, Hanoy butler/shuttle cart, Tony/shuttle cart,
Yurilays/hostess at Sancutary restuarant, Yessica & Natali waitress, Militza/reception. Special shout out to our fav Sanctuary bartenders Yuneil, Jesus, Alex, Amaury & Leo and staff at the pool snack bar...
They make us feel like family, especially our favs Jenny, Hanoy, bartenders Yuniel, Jesus & Alex...
We look forward to seeing everyone very soon June 2018.....

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Decent resort
Sadly, The Dining was mediocre , we had huge problems with room service also, it was either really bad, the wrong order, or not delivered at all. Having said that the grounds were decent , the beach was amazing, the water was so clear.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice beach
This was my first time in Cayo Coco. It is a nice beach but the resort is very tired. The staff are friendly and helpful. Upon my arrival I was told that is was rainy season:( not very happy that I was not informed by the travel agent. I got to my room and I was not impressed. It smelled moldy and the air conditioner was very loud and it did not have a grill covering it. I went to take a shower at the end of day and there was no hot water! I called the front desk seven times and no one w[... read more]as helpful. I finally walked to the front desk after dinner and they knew right away who I was based on the number of calls I made. I have to admit they were very helpful, without me explaining anything they said they would move me to another room. They sent me with a staff member to inspect the room and it was much better so I appreciated that.
The beach was lovely however when it rained morning and night there was really no way that I could enjoy the beach. The food was ok. It was the typical buffet food. The maid service was very good. They made sure that I had water every day and put towels on the bed in a lovely design. I did tip them well upon my arrival so that I would be sure to have good service.
I don't think that I would go back to that resort. It needs a lot of repairs. It is very tired looking but they are working on it. I think that the worst part was that the travel agent did not inform me that it was rainy season. Had I known I never would have gone in the first place but obviously they don't care. When they called me for a follow up and I asked them why I was not informed that it was rainy season the response was " I guess I should have told you"! SERIOUSLY, YA THINK! I am not impressed with the agency and will never use them again.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great get away
This was my first time ever to a resort. The grounds of the resort were well maintained and the bungalows were well spaced out. Very nice the way they were color coded.
Our Maid, Lisette ,was terrific and our butler, Jorge was amazing. Both very delightful people !
The food was so so. the seafood over cooked and vegetables water logged. The pork was very good.
You should not allow cigar smoking around the pool area. It's a very strong odor and I would not escape it , no matter wher[... read more]e I relocated myself at the pool.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Wonderful people
I found the people at the resort to be lovely and very helpful. The beach was gorgeous and the room was nice. I did have a bit of an issue that the entire bathroom had no door on it.
My main complaint would be currency exchange. There is a ‘bank’ at the resort but we were charged a crazy exchange rate. For $90 Cdn we received 63 convertible pesos. That seems to be more than buying America or European cash which seems way too high.
We had a great time The kids used everything available to them eg Chess Set, Kids Club they loved the Slides. Everything was very clean; gardens were beautiful. The resort staff were very friendly and would help you with anything you might need. The rooms were very nice and clean, beds very comfortable. I was surprised that there was a bit of a language barrier with staff (restaurants, cleaning and garden staff) The entertainment was a lot of fun. Not happy with the staff at the mini mart. Pu[... read more]rchased a float and wanted to return to purchase a bigger one and the box was not even open and because I did not have the bill they would not let me do the exchange. Another person we talked to hers did not even hold air and they would do nothing Not good customer service. Did not buy anything else from them. That was our only complaint. GREAT FAMILY RESORT 😀

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Large resort
We had asked for ground floor rooms close to the pool and restaurants. Unfortunately we had 2nd floor rooms when we booked in and were told we
had to return the next day at 4pm at which time we were given ground floor accommodations. Unfortunately they were not real close to the pool for the other couple which had difficulty walking. The restaurants also where a fair distance. The grounds still required a lot of repair from the terrible storm that had devastated a lot of the Caribbean.
The fo[... read more]od was fairly good at the a la crate restaurants. The buffet had a great assortment of food, so easy to please everyone.
The rooms where comfortable, but most days the supplies in the bathroom were not replenished, and the coffee and tea was in the room was none existent. In the other room they didn’t even have a coffee maker but had coffee packets left one day. So everyday I had to make the walk up to the main lobby bar to get coffees (a tad inconvenient).

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great trip!
Staff were fantastic. My 5 year old loved the kids club. Beach was gorgeous. Did not upgrade to diamond club, and don't think we missed out on anything. Building 2, facing the pool, was a bit noisy at night, but I could also see the shows from my balcony. Close to everything, which was really convienient. Foam party was awesome!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not a Good Experience at all
PROFILE:
A Senior who has been travelling to Cuba for the past 20+ years and so far have stayed at eight different resorts. Sometimes travel solo, sometimes as a couple, sometimes as a group. The visit from May 17th to May 24th we travelled as a group of three seniors and thee teenage and pre-teen children..We were joined three days later by another group of two adults and one pre-teen, we have all been to Cuba several times before.
SERVICE:
This resort offers two levels of Service, one[... read more] for 'Regulars' (not necessarily Diamond Club) who pretty well breeze through the resort, and another dis-interested level of service for First Time Guests (unless you start passing money around).
CHECK IN:
As new guests to this resort it took us over 24 hours to finally get the rooms we requested by e-mail, and were confirmed... Actually while we were dis-satisfied with the second set of rooms, we elected to just say in them rather than lose another vacation day moving. All of this despite two e-mails being sent ahead of time outlining our room requests. From the minute we arrived all we got from the Front Desk and the Sunwing Rep. was "Sorry" with no immediate resolutions to issues.
THE STATE OF THE RESORT AND CULTURE:
While the cosmetics of this resort were fine, the infrastructure had much to be desired. The bathrooms in the common area are disgusting. The phone in one of our two rooms never worked, and the lighting in the hallway on the second floor was none existent (extremely dark at night to the point we couldn't even see the locks on our doors)...Even though I made a report three times, the issue was never resolved until a 'Regular' (known to the staff as a big tipper) joined us three days later, made the same complaint, it was immediately looked after.
This 'Regular' and her party were also 'gifted' with the Diamond Club in exchange for certain 'electronic gifts' that were requested, and delivered.
The second set of rooms we were assigned were extremaly unhealthy, in the one room 2212 there was a constant smell of sewage that lingered near the entry door to the hallway... There was also that odor problem in our other room 2214, this time with the sink in the bathroom, the water would reek of sewage every time the tap was opened, you'd have to let it run for a while for the scent to dissipate. It is obvious there is a problem with methane gas in some of those rooms, we had to keep our balcony doors open most of the time to be sure we were breathing fresh air.
FOOD AND DRINK:
The food and drink were average. There was never a shortage of drinks anywhere on the resort, and the freshly prepared food stations in the buffet were a plus... but again accommodating six people always seem to be a problem, (it was even more of an issue when we were joined three days later by three more people)... on more than one occasion we had to literally do the job ourselves of joining two tables together, it always seemed to be an issue to get the staff to get our group seated. The A La Cartes seem to be better at seating groups.
BEACH / POOLS AND OVERALL EXPERIENCE:
In retrospect, while the beach was wonderful, and the pool system adequate, because this is not unique to Memories Flamenco Beach we will not be returning to this resort but will instead re-visit one of the other resorts we've gone to in the past, where even on our initial visits we were made to feel welcome, one where we didn't feel like we had to exchange 'gifts or money' for service... We are also hoping the next resort will be a lot more healty than this one.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Not as advertised
The biggest disappointment is the lack of communication from trip central. The resort was only half open. There was extensive damage done to the resort. The room we were given wasn’t the room we booked and the ac wasn’t working. When we tried to switch rooms, we were unable because only half the resort was open and the rest was booked. So we spent the night sweating. A majority of the resort is still flooded. This causes a lot of swampy areas to form. If you don’t have bug spray then good [... read more]luck at night. This also caused the resort to be covered with frogs. Expect to step on a few a night as there are no lights on the paths in the resort. The food wasn’t the best but there was always something to eat. The al a cartes often didn’t have certain menu items available. There was poor communication through the front desk and other staff. We were given a late check out by the customers relation rep, but no one at front desk was aware. The safe in our room broke twice. Again we had to call a few times cause the message was never delivered to the technician. Except for the front desk the rest of the staff were always very friendly. The resort is advertised as a 4star. It’s a 3 Star at best in its current condition. And that’s only because the beach is very nice. And while the condition of the resort is no ones fault as it was due to the hurricane, tripcentral should be responsible to let you know exactly what to expect. If anyone plans on going I recommend calling ahead to find out how many rooms are available as 4/5 people we spoke to had to change rooms at some point. And you don’t want to be stuck in an unsuitable room all week. Also try to get a room on the second floor as frogs, cockroaches and other bugs will try to crawl under your door on the first floor. Or cover the door with a towel.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach at Memories Caribe
My husband & I stayed at the Memories Caribe May 5-12. Overall, we had a good time. The best part of the resort was the amazing Cayo Coco beach; just beautiful. The staff was very pleasant and the weather cooperated for the most part - lots of rain but lots of sun too. The coffee bar in the lobby was excellent. Our room was pretty basic but comfortable enough for the week. Our biggest issue was no hot water for at least 3.5 days but the maintenance crew seemed to be diligently working on th[... read more]e issue and they did get it resolved in the end. We enjoyed the buffet and also the pizza hut on the beach. Tried a couple of the a la cartes but found the food very disappointing and inedible in a couple of cases. Never did spend any time in the pool or the swim up bar; always seemed to be occupied with a rowdy group.
We'd definitely go back to Cayo Coco but perhaps not to the Memories Caribe!

Sol Turquesa Beach: Good family resort
I found the food to be a bit better then the norm, but the à la cartes to be way worse. The beach was nice, te water not quit as clear as I had remembered. A lot of the staff struggled with English but were on the whole very friendly. It was nice as a family as it was fairly quite.

The resort was amazing. The front desk were very helpful but the room service was not acceptable at all. I complained numerous times with the front desk people but they didn't do anything about it.
