We stayed at the hotel January 6-January 13, 2015. The weather was perfect and the beach was very nice. The hotel staff were very hardworking, always mopping, picking up and cleaning the resort. All the rooms have a great ocean view. There was ample food choices for all guests. The only negative comments we have is the Internet service is incredibly inconsistent and painfully slow. This was a great value for a vacation

The Pyramid Cancun: Beautiful trip
The hotel was amazing. It's very big with much to explore, there is 22 restaurants. Even the buffets are great. The beach is better then most other resorts in Cancun. There is always something to do as it is a younger crowd for the most part. I just went with my girlfriend and if you want to go as a couple it is a good place as well because it's such a large resort.

Riu Santa Fe: Good value
I was disappointed because my only prior experience with thr Rui resorts was my stay at the Rui Palace. But the price is cheaper hence it's unrealistic to compare it to the Palace. However I would have preferred more staff in the restaurants and at the bars.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: A Good Experience
Overall we thought the hotel was excellent. The staff were very friendly and were eager to please. It was our first visit to Mexico and we came away with a positive impression.
The resort seemed very organized.
There was some sidewalk construction near our room and it was a bit noisy during the day, however it was not that bad.
If you went to the buffet every day it would be a bit monotinous, however we used the à la carte restaurants and found them to be very good. The Mexican restaurant and t[... read more]he Le Gourmet were excellent.
We took the diamond club option which gave us closer access to the beach and a quieter area.
The rooms were a bit damp and there was no natural ventilation unless you left the sliding patio door open.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Great resort
Very nice clean resort with all new rooms. All the rooms the are a good size but the fact the bathroom doors are smoked glass not sure how good that is for families.
The hot tubs on the balcony is nice but takes up most the room on the balcony..The resort had a turndown service in the room at night which was nice cause they would bring clean towels. beach towels in the room was nice. Restaurants (we didnt go to Brazalian) but all the others had very good food and choices. Buffet was always good.[... read more]
The pool only had big beds and no loungers. The beach was great snorkelling was really good. Not sure if the resort can hold a sold out resort. The last few days of our holiday more rooms opened and it seemed very crowded. Not enough washrooms.
Overall we had a great time would be worried to go back again cause the resort might feel too crowded.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Nice beach acceptable service
Overall our time away was really nice. The beach was beautiful and well maintained. The pools were kid friendly and for the most part there was plenty of seating. Our room was acceptable and the cleaning staff were excellent for the first few days although they did not clean properly the last half of the week and our room stunk. We were told that even though our daughter had gotten sick on the blanket we could not get a new one. The fridge in our room did not keep drinks cold and no one came to [... read more]look at it in spite of several visits to the front desk. Cleaning staff did not follow our requests for cleaning times and interrupted our daughter's nap time to bring towels. Check in and check out were nightmares and we almost missed the bus back to the airport because of the slow service. The food was decent but we relied heavily on a good breakfast as our family did not like much of the food served otherwise. The service was usually decent although only a few of the servers seemed concerned with speedy service. In spite of our complaints we would consider going back.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Fantastic Resort
We stayed at the Grand Siranis for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year, 2015. We are a family with 2 children aged 14 and 20.While we have travelled fairly extensively over past years, this was our first visit to Mexico and first time staying at an all inclusive resort. The resort is beautiful, with well maintained and lush landscaping. There is also a team who ensure the beach area is maintained. It is a large resort, but easy to make your way around, for those who may have difficulties walking[... read more] there are multiple golf type vehicles that will transport you quickly and efficiently around the resort. I would also like to add the Christmas decorations were wonderful throughout the Grand Siranis. We were a little disappointed with the view from our Ocean view room which faced into trees, however, I would have to add Gille (customer service manager) did follow up and we spent a lovely Christmas Eve as VIP's (thanks Gille, that gesture meant a lot). The rooms were great, and the housekeeping staff ensured all needs and requests were met. We stayed in Makai, which is close to the pool with all the activities. There are concierge services in each of the buildings, but you have to be prepared to follow up on your requests, you quickly learn that Mayan time frame is not quite the same as North American time frames. We ate at 6 of the alacarte restaurants on a scale of 1 to 10 for food, ambiance and service (10 being excellent) Japanese 10/10 (Giovani was awesome), Mediteranian (8/10), Steak house (8/10), Mexican (7/10), Brazilian (7/10), Bayou/Cajun (4/10 - reason for such a low score....noisy, chairs scraping across the tile everytime someone moved, too many tables per server). The buffets offers a wide selection of food, with many theme nights. The service was really good, expecially Mario who after one meal-had our drinks on the table as we sat down. My fav drink was the Miami Vice (ask for double rum). We did not spend a lot of time at the pool preferring the beach-but I would be remiss if I did not give a shout out to Victoriano who provides the beach towels. Victoriano thank you for every day for not only looking after our towel needs but taking the time to teach us a new Mayan word. You will find whether at the pool or beach there are people reserving loungers by 7am. Activites: during the day there is lots going on at the pool and beach. The kids spent most of their time playing beach volley ball, water polo, snorkelling, dancing etc. Make sure you invest in watershoes. At night there are 2 large lounges, with bands, singers etc, the ampitheatre which has different shows on everynight (remember this is not broadway) they do a good job and one disco. This would be one area I would suggest is lacking. It would have been nice to have a dance club/pub for those of us older than 25 years. The New Years Eve party was one of the best we have ever attended, very well done. We did take advantage of the spa-excellent, and our kids swam with the dolphins-excellent. The staff across the resort will go out of their way, we took US $200 in one dollar bills and tipped for everything (we were treated like royalty). It is important to remember Mexico is not a first world country and a couple of dollars is a small fortune for them. The front desk/reception area staff were not a friendly as other staff throughout the resort. We took the Collectivo (small buses that go up and highway outside the resort) to Playa del Carmen, costs 35 peso's per person. When you get off the bus in Playa, keep walking to 5th Street for the best prices and barter, barter, barter. Some of the shop employees, owner will pretend they work at Grand Siranis and say they looked after you at the resort....they see the wrist band and know which one you are staying at. Our other excursions was to Xplor and Jungle Maya, we had a great time at both. Jungle Maya is much more rustic than Xplor. We would go back to the Grand Siranis, we met so many fantastic people and had an amazing family vacation.

Samba Vallarta: Reasonable at best
From the leaky toilet to getting charged 40.00 per night extra to get a balcony, the Samba Vallarta was a let down.
Staff was great but lied to by the management.
We wanted to get moved to a balcony room but was told that the resort was full. We later talked to a staff member about why the beach restaurant was closed that evening. We were informed that the resort was only 52% full so they always close the beach restaurant.
They finally moved us for the last 3 nights of our stay to a balcony room[... read more] for 120.00.
Beach bar closes at 6pm .If you want to socialize in the evenings you have to hang in the hotel lobby....yes, the hotel lobby with no view of the ocean.

Park Royal Beach Huatulco: Park Royal Retreat
I loved the location, and the view from our balcony was spectacular. We were on the 10th level. Our room was very nice and the entire resort including our room was spotless, especially the washrooms. I enjoyed the pool on the 7th level. Also, breakfast was really nice in the 7th level restaurant. You could enjoy the wonderful view overlooking the ocean and it was nice watching and listening to the birds during breakfast. It's the coolest time of day to get things done. The staff were very friend[... read more]ly and helpful. The beach was nice. They do need more beach chairs to go around. They have a small beach access and lots of people spent their time right on the beach. I think this allowed people to mix and mingle which was nice with a beach bar and washrooms close by. Did I say the washrooms were spotless? Absolutely!
We went to town twice for dinner in the evening. We also went to two different beaches by cab to snorkel, swim and have lunch. The food at the resort was okay. Some food was cold in the pans in the buffett. I found we had breakfast and lunch on the 7th level and dinner at the buffet. During our stay the resort was occupied by a lot of Mexican families. We had a very positive experience meeting and vacationing with Mexican's. They are very family oriented, quiet and very friendly always happy to chat a bit and help us with our spanish. The best part....they didn't smoke! I would definitely come back to this resort because you get good value for the price, the friendly staff, cleanliness and view.

Well I have been coming for ten years and the people are great and the service is outstanding. The town is absolutely amazing and still remember us every year. The hotel is a 3 star but to us is perfect. If you want to have the real mexico experience this the place to come to. Do not be concerned for your safety here. Always ask your travel agent for any information if you want a specific room or any other questions. Enjoy the De Cameron los cocos and have a cervaza on the ocean.

Amazing beach and grounds. Able to snorkel right out front of hotel. Recent renovations almost complete. Very clean. Staff very good, especially the entertainment group, (Mirna, Kira, Alejandros and Leah). Public washrooms are in short supply. Room washrooms provide little privacy. Alacarte food very good. Really good 24 hour snack bar.

Ocean Maya Royale: Exceeded Expectations!!!!
My wife and I just returned from the Ocean Maya Royale on Jan 14, 2015 and I have to say we were both surprised with how good this resort is. Food, service, housekeepers, bartender, english speaking employees, clean well manicured grounds..... it was soooooooo nice. I have to also say, free WiFi in rooms, main lobby and even on the beach, I have never been offered so much service for the dollar you pay. Our BD TRAVEL rep (Andres / Drewski) was over and above, he actually let me use his personal [... read more]phone to coordinate with friends that were at a different resort to meet up on a particular excursion. Oh and he's from Thunder Bay too. Ha. Thanks so much to all the staff and look forward to returning in the future.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Wonderful Resort
Had a great vacation. This resort had the best beach and swimming that we have encountered on any of our past vacation retreats. The rooms were very clean and well kept. The only thing that they should do, is make the bathroom and shower stall a little more private and also provide dresser drawers rather than cupboard shelves. The view from the balcony was amazing. Every room has an ocean view and the Jacuzzi hot tub on the balcony was a fabulous treat. Every room has one.
The food at all the re[... read more]staurants ranged from good to excellent. Our favourites were the Buffet, the Seaside and the International Gourmet restaurants. All of the staff were fabulous. Extremely friendly and helpful, especially Oscar at the front desk and Alejandro the manager of the Buffett restaurant. Oscar went out of his way to procure us a snorkel kit, due to guests borrowing the equipment, and not returning them so others could use it. They should charge a fee for those who keep the gear longer than an allotted time or keep it overnight. On the bright side, the snorkelling is amazing and only a short distance off the beach. Saw so many large sea turtles munching on the sea grass on the bottom, along with hordes of fish (thanks to Oscar and Alejandro). The entertainment is a bit on the quiet side, but this is what most of the people vacationing here were after, very relaxing and peaceful. They did have some good bands playing in the evening under the thatched pavilion, even requested some Freddy Fender songs and they were sung beautifully. The paddle boarding was wonderful, could only manage to do it on my knees though, getting old. The bartenders were great along with the drinks. They made changes to some of my drink requests account of being diabetic. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would definitely return again.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Excellent resort
Stayed at Sandos with my wife from 6/01/15 thru 13/01/15. Overall I would say it was a very pleasant first time experience. Food: The buffets were constantly being replenished with food. The food was well prepared and there was always chicken, fish, beef, pork so something for everyone. To avoid getting bored with the food we rotated the 8 restaurants each day; the French restaurant is remarkable for Mexico, and we recommend the sea bass at the beach. Amenities: spacious & cleaned every day. Bea[... read more]ch: large, well maintained. Shows: many for kids. But what I remember most is the exquisite Espresso in the morning, lunch and dinner. Samba Vallarta: Great for Seniors
If you are travelling with small children or are over 65, then this is the resort for you. If you are anywhere in between , then pick another resort. Pretty much all the activities are for children under 12 and that includes the "disco". There is a nice restaurant/bar on the ocean side and by the pool that closes at 6pm. If you want a drink after that there is a small bar by the restaurant in front of the kids disco ( no seating , just standing) or a enclosed lobby bar for those who like to go t[... read more]o mexico and sit indoors. There is one buffet restaurant and 2 a la carte restaurants, however, if the hotel is less than 80% occupied, they do not open the second restaurant, First time I have been to an all inclusive where there is nothing to do after 6pm except have dinner. The resort is in desperate need of maintenance and cleaning. Our rooms had mold on the backs of the curtains and in the bathrooms. Sinks and showers took 20 minutes to drain but the toilet was a continual leak onto the floor .At the time of our booking, there was no mention anywhere that to have a balcony it was an upgrade. Web site just said some rooms with balcony. That was disappointing. Took us 3 days to get rooms with balconies ( at an additional charge of $45.00 per night) . Desk staff told us they were full but the Security people told us the hotel was at 52% occupancy ( hence the one restaurant being closed) All the bar and restaurant staff were excellent and the food was good.
