Barcelo Maya Palace: Best Resort to Stay

Barcelo Maya Palace was an unforgettable place. The staff, didn’t matter where you were or what you were asking for, staff was there to help at all times of the day. The food was amazing. We dinned out 3 restaurants, visited most of the buffets. All were clean, well maintained and food was excellent. The pools are the greatest I have ever seen. Especially the pool side bars. Barcelo Maya Palace: Awesome Resort

This older resort boasts beautiful manicured landscaping, lots of shade with mature palm trees. A great selection at the buffet and 5 star a la cartes; beef Wellington and filet mignon cooked to perfection. With the additional resorts there was plenty of walking and exploring the many facilities on site including dolphinarium, mall, casino, the option to travel the resort by double decker buses are also available. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort

We had a family trip to this resort last week and had a very positive experience. We booked a room at Barcelo Maya Colonial but were given a room in the premium section of the Barcelo Tropical (with privileges that Colonial guests have) because the Colonial part was all occupied when we arrived. We liked the room very much. It was very close to the beach, clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. They also provided robes and slippers, which was convenient. The balcony had a drying rack, which wa [... read more]s also very convenient. The resort is huge, but it was quite easy for us to find everything that we needed. Grounds of the resort look great. One can tell that money is invested in keeping grounds in good shape. The beach was amazing. No seaweeds. Sand is like powder. There were strong waves the week when we were there, but these waves were clear and looked very beautiful. Of course, swimming wasn't possible, but jumping into waves was fun, and just being in the crystal clear warm ocean felt great. One absolutely need water shoes there though because it is easy to hit toes against rocks at the bottom of the ocean. The beach has plenty of beach loungers so we haven't had a problem to find a spot under the palm tree. Swimming pools are beautiful and water there is very clean. Food in buffets was fine. Nothing extraordinary, but we were always able to find something tasty to eat. We have also booked three restaurants (Kioto (Asian cuisine , Santa Fe (stakes) and Marenostrum (sea food)). All of these restaurants have very beautiful décor and tasty menu. We enjoyed them. Staff at the resort is also pleasantly attentive and polite. They try to help with everything that they can. Evening entertainment at the resort is great. They offer decent quality shows each evening. Overall, we are very pleased with our vacation to Barcelo Maya Colonial.

Riu Tequila: Riu Tequila : Perfect for me .....

The best asset this resort has is the STAFF. No matter what area you are in, front desk, buffet, bar, room service, pool and beach areas and yes even ground keepers They all seem to really care, they help you in feeling comfortable, relaxed, secure and happy. The location is excellent, heavily secured gated community in the heart of Playacar. Easy access to gorgeous beach and 200 pesos taxi ride gets you to 5th Avenue. No watered down drinks, you can have them made as strong as you like. Music and entertainment very colorful and energetic. Super great place to unwind, relax or to dance and party. Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great week with Bahia Principe

It was our third time going there and would go again. The grounds were very well kept and clean, the workers were very friendly and enthusiastic. We enjoyed the beach and activities there like volleyball and aqua exercises. The pools were clean with lots of chairs. We had a great time with the entertainment team at the main pool. They were wonderful and made us feel like family and friends. Ronaldo, Carlos, Jonathan, Yodi, Ybram, Alex, (we forget some names). Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Not great.

I had some issues with this resort. When we arrived our adult room was not available - we were given a room in the family building with bunk beds and a king size bed - we are sisters and seniors. Next day our adult room still not available and but after persisting they finally gave us a room with two queen beds. The shower leaked over the bathroom floor daily making it slippery and dangerous. One night our beds were made and we had no top sheets. Room service wouldn’t answer so we had to go to  [... read more]reception at 11pm asking for sheets. My son’s room had cold water in the shower and plugged toilet most days. The food was not good. No toaster - only way to get toaster was to wait in the long line of people waiting for omelettes and eggs and the one lady working would put the bread on the greasy grill. There was no pasta station. The cold cuts and cheese were next to each other and touching. Very little fruit. No bacon - we found out two days before we left that it could be ordered from the staff. The beach was mostly rocks which were sharp and craggy. We found out mid week we could go to a sister resort about 25 minutes away with a beautiful beach and good food - we paid to go there twice after we heard about it. We tried on day one to book the a la carts restaurants and none were available all week. The rooms were clean. The staff worked hard but the resort was understaffed. The surf was beautiful! Lots of loungers. The animals were cute but the donkeys should be free - they were kept in a small corral and looked hot and miserable.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: vacation

We were thoroughly impressed. I have been to six other resorts, and this one trumps them all. My wife and I plan on returning next year if possible. I can't imagine a better place to relax. It was awesome.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Needs work

The animals wandering around are a nice touch. I hadn’t seen a lemur before. But I felt sad for the donkey who was not free range and looked hot and tired (like me). The pools are fine but not plentiful and not visible from the trails. There are no trolleys to take people around ( except staff) and I overheated twice trying to find a place to sit or cool off. The staff are lovely, the room fine, the food iffy.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing resort

Food was amazing. 24hr room service A la Carter every night Rooms were clean. Staff extremely friendly and caring. It is a distance to the beach but there's a trolly to take you all over. The resort was overall quiet and relaxing. If you're looking to party though I'd maybe suggest one of the Bahia closer to the beach

Riu Playacar: Amazing Resort

We just arrived home after a beautiful week at Riu Playacarmen. What we found was that it was just the right size. Not a whole lot of walking to and from meals and the beaches and bars. The grounds were well kept with interesting little creatures bouncing around. Our room was very clean. Food was amazing and the hospitality was great with smiles and always willing to accommodate. We found one thing that was great was that the beach was kept very clean. Most of the resorts had seawee [... read more]d washed up in front but our hotel alone with the other adjacent Riu hotel were kept very clean. Beach was amazing with a lot of chairs to accommodate everyone. The size of the resort was perfect for everything not a lot of people to make you feel crowded and crazy. It ranged from littles to older folks like us. The resort is set up for all accommodations with ramps all around the restaurants and into one of the pools. The only access that you couldn't get with a wheel chair or other accessibility means was the beach but I know that they could help out with that. Thank you for an amazing holiday.

Riu Playacar: Great resort

The resort is beautiful, staff are very friendly and helpful, food was really good but not very warm under the heat lamps. Pools were great. Room was very nice although I'm not a fan of the open concept washroom as I travel with my sister. Eliana Anton was my agent and I was very pleased with her, she was very helpful and prompt.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Amazing Staff

My boyfriend and I had an incredible stay at the Seaside Palms section of the resort. The food was great, the grounds were absolutely beautiful and lush with plants and palm trees. And above all the staff were incredible. We wanted to make a shout out to Veronica and Martha, who we grew to love. They went above and beyond to make our beach days the best! And a special thank you to Mildred for helping us when our flights were delayed, and ensuring we were set up and comfortable! Highly recommend

Grand Oasis Riviera: Amazing resort

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Amazing value

If you’re on a budget but want to experience paradise, this resort is for you. It’s nestled in the jungle yet has an amazing beach. It is very dated, but clean and well kept. The staff are amazing, they work very hard and take pride in this resort. It is extremely family oriented though, so don’t let the adults only section fool you, there will be lots of children at the main buffet and al cartes (like A LOT). There’s a lot to do here, so you probably won’t experience all it has to offer in one  [... read more]trip. It’s in a gated community so it is very safe and away from the crazy playa del Carmen. This is not a party resort there is no nightclub or disco, just nightly shows that were very entertaining! The food is ok, but for the price you pay, do not expect a culinary experience. There are several pools and a long stretch of beach to enjoy, so you should be able to find what you like here. We loved it and already miss it, what a great place to have a vacation!

Catalonia Yucatan: Lovely resort vacation!

Our room was beautiful, and the staff were exceptional - friendly, helpful and conscientious. The facilities were incredibly clean. The food was very good - fresh and flavourful! The al a carte restaurants were enjoyable and the food also excellent. A smaller resort than many in the area, which we appreciated.

Grand Sunset Princess: Wonderful But Tired

This was our second trip here. First one was March 2020 when Covid was declared and now this one. Friendliness and service in the Buffets was not a memorable as our first visit. Grounds are beautiful. The rooms and interior spaces are tired and need some upgrades and sprucing up.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing resort!

This resort surpassed our expectations. We had tried to find a place that offered better food than a previous trip at a different location and the food was great. Lots of variety at the buffet and the reserved restaurants felt like we were eating in fine dining venues. The staff was always helpful and welcoming. The entertainment staff always had something going on and we’re very energetic and friendly. The resort itself is quite large and offers many different things to do. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: More than expected

This resort is well maintained, (Akumal) the grounds are impeccable, the staff courteous and attentive. The little shuttle carts run often during the day and often enough at night. There is access to food and drink 24/7. Snack bar is open from 11 pm to 5 am. The restaurants available were good and had something for everyone. We were only disappointed in one. Fun activities and places to be quiet. Something for everyone. I was impressed at check in when I walked up with a cane and the desk staff said there is no elevator. I said no problem. They said let me get you a room on the ground floor, you are currently on the second floor. I said I am not worried but they moved me around and got me on the first floor. This was all done by the front staff noticing my cane. I had said nothing!!! That is impressive. The live bands at the bar were very talented. Drinks generous and premium liquor available. We'd go back!!

Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Wonderful Resort / Amazing Vacation

This resort takes wonderful care of their guests, ensuring there stay and experience is second to none. Additionally, we experienced world class food and dining with lots of high-end food, with some fun options included (the Mercado). Rooms were very well appointed, with fluffy towels, soaps and toiletries, beautiful soft bedding and incredible pillows. There was even and aromatherapy option. Additionally, the rooms were very well maintained and clean. With the resort on the ocean there was a la [... read more]rge amount of Oceanview (even walkout) but if that is not to your likely, there are pool views or Tropical views. Still there wasn't a bad room to be had. Lastly, the staff, from the management to the ground keepers, everyone was friendly, happy to help and truly loved there work environment. Not to many place can say that anymore. We cannot wait to come back and hope to make this a multi-year destination. Also, I would like to note, if you are looking for a value priced resort, this facility will not be for you. As it is 5 star it is priced as such, furthermore, as with many beaches on the Mayan Coast, there have become eroded and are note for swimming, but if you just want to soak up the sun, this is perfect.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: Beautiful resort

Most beautiful building I have ever stayed in. Grounds are nice and you have access to all the other resorts in the complex - fun to wander around and see what they have (I made good use of the waterslides at the Lindo, and went to restaurants at the Del Mar/Beach and Maya as well as the coffee shops, ice cream and hamburger stands throughout the complex). Staff are friendly and service was almost uniformly good. Food was very good for an all-inclusive. We went to the Venetian (Italian), [... read more] Toni's (steaks), the Mexican/ceviche restaurant for lunch, and Haiku (Japanese). Portions were small at the Venetian and Haiku but the food was good. Also went to El Puerto (BBQ, which was decent) at the Beach/Del Mar and El Rancho (steaks - best meal all week) at the Maya. Nothing on the resort is open early so went to the Maya Star Café for a sandwich before some early excursions. Buffet was excellent. Tons of variety. App is glitchy, couldn't use it for a few days as according to the staff it is affected by weather (?). This meant it was hard to view the menus. You can book reservations on the app but obviously can't if it isn't working so I used the concierge. Also need to use the concierge for reservations at other resorts. Ordering drinks on the app didn't work for me, drinks never came. Maps on the app can be confusing. We had an entry-level "garden view" room in the main building and it was still very nice and large. Good housekeeping service with turndown, refilling the mini-bar was sometimes neglected. Entertainment was good. Included things like traditional Mexican dances and mariachi, cover bands, violinist/pianist, etc. Not a lot of other activities on-resort; the other resorts in the complex are more active (e.g. all non-motorized watersports are located at an adjacent resort). The gym is decent, crowding in the morning. Small but has a good collection of equipment. In poor weather you can also use the indoor hot tubs and pool. Wish the hot tub was hotter. Pool area was nice with decent drink service and a swim-up bar. Didn't have a problem getting a spot even on the hottest day though might not be right by the pool. The beach was OK - smallish, lots of seaweed but that's a common issue in this area. Beach is very rocky and red flags the the entirety of our 7-night stay. Overall, very nice resort, would recommend.
