Playa Vista Azul: All went well till the last day

Had a wonderful experience till the final day. My friend took a tumble and really hurt herself and no one helped her. Seeing that I went to the bar and brought my own zip lock bag and asked the bartender to fill it with ice as she is hurt. I was disgusted when he continued making drinks serving others alcohol as I asked him actually begged him...he again shrugged me off like it was more important to get people intoxicated then to help someone who was hurt..went to the front desk to complain and [... read more] language barrier there. My bus arrived to be brought to the airport or would have seen hotel manager let me tell you I'm not impressed and will not return

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort.

Overall the resort was fantastic. The food was ok could have been a little better but we did not starve. Layout was great small enough you did not have to walk far to get to any part of the resort. The room was great a step up from what we were used to. The only problem was there was no toilet paper in the bathroom by the beach. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Not what we expected

We booked this resort knowing that it was new and would have some kinks. I can say it was on my least favorite list and I personally wouldn't return. Playa Vista Azul: Good resort - lacking in service

I have stayed at H10 Ocean Casa del Mar in Cayo Santa Maria 9 months ago which lead myself and my boyfriend to book at this hotel in Varadero. For the price, we couldn't complain though we thought that the service - especially in the restaurants - were lacking. We thought maybe it was due to our age (early 20s) but it was lacking to say the least (i.e., we would go through breakfast without even being offered a coffee). Also - the food whether in the "A la carte" or buffet, was always cold u [... read more]nless prepared at the seafood/pasta/meat stations (cooked per order). But, no one goes to cuba for the food unfortunately. Considering everything else, it wasn't terrible. The room was always clean, the resort is maintained, the lobby pool views are brilliant (especially at sunset), and the resort isn't big so you never feel overwhelmed or lost. We booked this trip to Varadero for the sole purpose of going to Havana for a day and that we did and found relaxation along with it. Needless to say, we could have definitely stayed a week more if time permitted despite the faults.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Good resort

The room was good although the bedding was not very fresh. The shower was very good and there was plenty of hot water. The staff at the hotel were friendly and pleasant. However the food wasn't great; I realize this isn't uncommon in Cuba! The beach was super and always clean; likewise the pool.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Amazing Staff!!!

I stayed here with my family and had an amazing week, staff very friendly, midgal the waiter the not only was the staff amazing but they kept the resort in shape, looking good everyday. The beach well kept as well. I would return in a heart beat!!

Playa Vista Azul: I enjoyed my stay the resort was clean and well groomed.

I was surprised that so many tripping hazards were built into the construction. I MANAGED TO FALL OFF THE SIDEWALK LIKE A TREE FALLING OVER BY THE WEDDING GAZEBO ! THE SIDEWALK SITS HIGH IN THAT SPOT ABOVE THE SOIL, I came home with a broken shoulder bone as this happening less than an hour before the bus took me to the airport.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Wonderful Accessible Resort!

Ocean Blue and Sand - This resort has everything you could possibly want, and it is fully Wheel Chair Accessible!! The staff were amazing and ready to do anything to make your stay memorable! My husband is a quadriplegic and we had requested ahead of time for an accessible room, this was granted right away with no issues. This is not our first travel down south and believe it or not it can be quite a task obtaining an accessible room even after you have requested it well in advance. The buff [... read more]et restaurants were just as good as the a la carte however we loved the Steak House the best. The breakfast options were plentiful and included many different options. We spent our days by one of the two huge and beautiful pools on the property. The water was very warm and the swim up bars were great. There was always fun activities going on by the pool and we were not once bored our entire stay there. We would recommend this resort to our family and friends.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Very disappointed

The resort customer service is not good at all. We were not greeted properly staff ignored questions. The resort wifi did not work including the reception desk tops. The ac did not work and made a funny noise. The beach was small dirty and not the same as the pictures. No entertainment. The rooms smell and beds were uncomfortable. We have to pay extra money to switch resorts and I was not happy. I will not recommend anyone to this resort. Ocean Maya Royale: Beautiful place to stay

The resort staff were AMAZING! Everyone was attentive, caring and made an effort to get to know everyone! Very clean and well maintained! Food was phenomenal! So many choices. It was great that we didn't need reservations at the specialty restaurants. One thing I didn't like was the upselling. I found some of the sellers a little pushy (massage, privilege package)

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Overbooked resort!

Hello, The resort it self is nice, I would rate it a 3 star not a 4. We arrived and they didn't have a room for us, waited over an hour to finally speak to someone and we had booked privilege. 3 people in one room with 2 full size beds. No shower, imagine getting into a tub when you spend the day in the sun! Ouch! Towels were stained, had to ask for 3 days to get extra towels as they only left enough for two people. Pillows, forget about it. You get a free message, but once again we didn't a [... read more]s they were over booked. Free bottle of rum, asked 4 days in a row. Still nothing! The staff was very nice, the front desk needed some training on how to deal with issues. Beach is beautiful, bring bug spray as we had sand flee bites daily. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Very nice, new resort.

It is new, spacious, very nicely done. Pools are awesome, lots to choose from. If comes to food- I recommend restaurants ( 5 of them ) not buffet...Phenomenal beaches, and lovely Spa. The only thing is- when you have a problem, literally nobody speaks english, not even at the reception ) LOL ) It would be nice, if they had little welcome drinks ( like even a water or juice ) and small snacks. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Lovely resort

The hotel was clean and modern, the rooms were comfortable with an amazing shower. Staff was friendly and helpful. The 6 all a Carter restaurants offered great variety first supper. The beach was lively but narrow so you had to keep an eye on the tide to make sure your belongings did not get wet.

Nice new resort. The rooms were comfortable, and loved the shower. Large resort but didn't seem crowded. The restaurants were good, and the staff were friendly. Beautiful beach and loved the water. Enjoyed the entertainment and a couple excursions.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: First vacation to cuba

This was my first trip to Cuba and I wasn't disappointed. The sand and beach was everything I had imagined. Awesome. The hotel rooms were quite adequate, air conditioning worked, rooms cleaned every day, sometimes with clean towels and sometimes without, but all in all was great. I was disappointed with some of the staffing, having really difficult times being understood, certainly not the impression I had of the friendly and helpful staff, always joking and interacting with guests. Also, groups of Cubans hanging around the beach bars making patrons uncomfortable to approach, quite blatantly speaking about us in Spanish while looking and laughing....very very uncomfortable. Friends with me who have been to many different Cuban resorts said this has never been a practice before at any resort. That was not pleasant for me. But, we did have a great time, meet a few very nice staff and hope the minor glitches will be smoothed out, if we ever go again. It would be more attractive to be able to fly direct from pei instead of a 3 hour drive and an overnight in another city. Perhaps that will be possible one day, we have a direct flight to veradara from pei now...thx

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Stunning resort

Beautiful, clean, amazing resort! We fell in love with our surroundings. The beach took our breath away with stunning green/blue water and white sand. We were treated like special guests. The resort had amazing, refreshing pools. There was always a vacant lounge which is different than other resorts we've to. I would love to go back!

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great Resort

Hotel was a good size for us and very clean / gardens were very well maintained / a good variety of food available / drinks were great! The cleaning staff, gardeners and maintenance staff were more than friendly and the bar staff were wonderful. Amazing stretch of beach at this hotel - lots of shade available and swimming was easily accessible. Ocean Maya Royale: Great vacation!

Transport to and from the hotel was clean and professional. We were greeted with a cold drink at check in. Our consierge was Louis, who went over the resort information, and then tried really hard for us to go to a morning meeting for another Ocean hotel. The hotel buildings and grounds were beautiful. Our room had a comfortable kind size bed, my only complaint would be the lumpy pillows. Food was delicious and plenty of choice whether at the buffet or the a la carte restaurants. Staff were friendly and intersted in helping Would definitely return! Had a wonderful vacation.

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful Hotel

This was our first trip to Cuba. We initially had a few things that we were unhappy with however after speaking to other people about their resorts on our excursions we instantly grew to love this resort more each day. The rooms and grounds were beautiful. The food was very good (I have heard food is an issue in Cuba). We did have a few complaints and seeing as how this is a new resort it is still working out kinks. Well we did find a handful but the vast majority of employees at this resort we found to be rude. I heard this complaint made by several other people as well. The nighty entertainment each day was a different form of a dance routine and there was nothing else to do in the evenings besides sit in a bar and drink. There was no dance club or any other form of entertainment besides the dance show in the theatre. Lastly their 24 hr snack bar (also the only bar open after 11pm) was not 24 hr. it was closed more than open and if there was a wedding this is the building they used for the reception (there was a wedding 4 out of our 7 nights there). The Beach was awesome and the pool was nice to, after all this is what the vacation is all about :-) All in all we loved our vacation and yes I would definitely stay there again no questions asked. Like I said it is new and they just have a few kinks to work out.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Good Resort

In total we had a great trip. The hotel is beautiful and clean, you can tell they take a lot of pride in it! The food & maid service was fantastic, huge shout out to Tall Ernesto and Magdeil in the buffet and Tania in Villa 16, they were all so nice and helpful. The beach is gorgeous and the pools are spacious. I love that there is a market right next door. All the workers are so nice, they really want to make it special for everyone there! The food was good, lots of options. I did find it re [... read more]petitive which got tiring but I always find that. We only managed to find two A la Carts, the Italian was fantastic! We were told the one outside was Privilege only at supper. I wasn't a huge fan of worrying about what was only for Privilege but it didn't come up often, only with the A la Carts. We had some issues with getting an extra bed brought in that we requested in advance for the room with 3 people, had to ask three times, was finally brought on our third night. Two people with us had some mobility issues and we asked if we could call to have bell boy bring them to the lobby for meals and stuff. They said that was fine and usually it was. Except the two times we had time constraints and they never showed up, despite calling over an hour in advance. We almost missed our excursion because they kept assuring us they were coming. And then they had to carry their bags up when it was check out time, which was really hard for them to do. Disappointment the Havana overnight trip we saw advertised online was not available when we arrived ( we really wanted to go on it). The AirTransat ladies were very helpful in finding us another excursion though. Would definitely go back, the people, the hotel and service was all great! The few hiccups we had did nothing to ruin the experience for us. Ocean Casa Del Mar is a lovely resort! Would recommend to anyone!
